Owner Natalie and her instructors are fantastic - take a class with Danielle, Jamie and your arms, legs, glutes, abs will thank you for days. Instructors have great attention to form, know their students and teach new sequences frequently (huge plus). Platform classes are a great option if you prefer a higher cardio/intensity to mix up your routine. Personally prefer Pure Barre over other barre companies because of the choreography, physical challenge and variety and this studio is excellent on all aspects. Have taken PB in Seattle (obsessed) and Boston (meh) consistently since 2013 - impressed with the Wheaton studio and community. Studio is clean, spacious, well-lit and feels really new - equipment is in great shape. I simply cannot say enough good things about Pure Barre Wheaton. First, the workout is unique, fun, and effective. I always believe that a good workout leaves you sore the next day and Pure Barre will do that for you. What is truly special about Pure Barre Wheaton, compared to other group fitness experiences and gyms, is the customer service here. From the moment you walk in the first time, the receptionist, or "barre-tender", greets you warmly and welcomes you into the community. The instructors learn everyone's name from their first class onward and provide personalized corrections throughout the class. I want to preface this by stating that I am not giving three stars based on the instructor or the place itself...I would give them five stars if I could. I am giving three stars based off the astronomical price for what is essentially a glorified Pilates class. I had heard all the hype about this place and signed up for the 1 week free to give it a try. I was a ballerina for 9 years until I graduated high school, so was looking forward to incorporating ballet into my workout again. (There really is very little ballet involved in this workout. Yes, they have the barre, but very few ballet-style exercises are performed. Maybe that was just my assumption that it incorporated ballet; I dont know.) The instructor was faced paced, positive, and attentive to form (a plus!). The facility was clean, organized, and the instructions were very easy to follow. I brought along a pair of non-skid socks (you don't wear shoes, so if you bring regular socks you'll be sliding all over), which helped keep grip for the exercises. I did feel the "burn" and was sore a day or two after my first workout. But to be honest...I've done pretty much the exact same class at the Xsport as part of my 20 dollar membership...I've also done similar classes at the Park District for Pilates that were about just as good. You can also find a lot of these exercises in at home workout videos like P90X and the Brazilian Butt Lift DVD set. I was told this program is about a whopping 145 a MONTH. 145 a month for exercises requiring practically no special equipment that I can't buy, or that I can't do in my home is just astronomical to me. Additionally, if you're overweight, keep in mind that while this is better than doing nothing, it's not going to help you drop a ton of weight since there's very little cardio involved. In my opinion, this program is perfect for someone who: 1. Has a good chunk of spare change lying around 2. Is already pretty much at their target weight and just wants some definition 3. Enjoys the group workout setting 4. People who suffer medical conditions that do not allow them to perform high impact cardio/weight lifting. For those of us on a tighter budget or who need to do more than tone up...no thanks. I'm not intentionally trying to bash this place, and it seems that they have quite the fan base. But for me, I wouldn't find it worthwhile. read more

Huge fan of this place. I'm a serial exerciser - I love group classes and tend to get bored easily, and I've tried it all. I ended up at PB after dealing with joint pain from HIIT and running....I wanted something that wasn't so hard on my body but was still a great workout. Pure Barre delivers and more - every class is tough (in a good way!) and I now have abs that I didn't even have pre-kids. The instructors are great - love Danielle, Kelli, Taylor, Carly, Ally - and they are super motivating, which is great when your seat is on fire and you basically hate everyone. Pure Barre Wheaton is going to turn into my second home since I just signed up for their one year membership plan. It was definitely worth it as I did the one month beginners pkg for $99 and became obsessed with going to the classes towards the end. I had a bout of sickness during the beginning of the membership and couldn't make all of the initial classes. However, in just the first month of barre (10 classes in) ppl began complimenting me about appearing like im in better shape. I also noticed myself standing up taller. Barre is a great workout. I joined because I had recently undergone physical therapy with my knee due to an injury where doctors began to say that surgery might be the only true option for recovery and my pain to fully cease. I would do regular workouts and my knee would feel the impact the next day and I couldn't function the way I wanted. However, I heard about barre classes from a good friend who suggested I try it because it's low impact but a great workout. She was right! I have minimal to no pain in my knee which my physical therapist indicated might be as a result of me building stronger muscles as a result of barre. Overall, it's a great atmosphere to work out in, the teachers are amazing at motivating you and adjusting your posture as it's needed, and ensure that each participant is getting a good workout. I cannot complain about the amazing music selection either, it truly distracts you from the burn you would otherwise not be able to get through. Thanks Pure Barre Wheaton! read more

Pure Barre is an amazing workout and you will feel sore after in places you didn't even know existed! The instructors are all great and helpful, and usually greet everyone by name when you walk in. Even though each class has set exercises, they are completely changed intermittently (every two months or so) and each class is different and so challenging. I love that there are women of all ages, shapes and sizes... And everyone is focused on themselves (and shaking with each exercise), so no worries about ever feeling self conscious. There is definitely a great new client special ($99 for one month unlimited), so be sure to take advantage of it. I am currently taking advantage of the bride-to-be special and loving it. My only complaint would be the normal price of the classes (without the special packages). It is certainly cheaper than hiring a trainer, but will have to limit my pure barre addiction after my special packages are over since I have some other memberships to worry about. I just recently moved to the Wheaton area from Texas and was so relieved to find a Pure Barre studio nearby! I have been very impressed with this particular studio because of how friendly and welcoming they have been. They pay attention to detail and I LOVE the smaller class sizes. I have worked in the fitness industry and I have a ballet background, so I tend to be "picky" about my barre classes; and I am very satisfied with the classes. I have only taken from Autumn, Gabrielle, and Amy and they are all equally lovely instructors. I highly recommend this studio for anyone interested in getting their butt kicked! read more

This is my absolutely favorite place to workout. The instructors are knowledgeable, helpful, and engaging. I feel so comfortable working out. The instructors give excellent corrections and encourage you to keep pushing through the exercises. I cannot say a negative thing, everything is positive. My core strength, upper body strength, and overall flexibility has had remarkable improvement since beginning Pure Barre classes. The ever-changing routines and playlists keep the 55 minute classes fresh and fast-paced. The Wheaton team is extremely welcoming and makes sure everyone gets personal attention. I'm currently visiting Wheaton and was looking for a way to stay fit during my 7 weeks here. I do various cardio and tone classes at home. Pure Barre gets your heart rate up while changing you body with strength building exercises. It's the only glut-focused workout I've ever done and my core has become so much stronger after just 5 weeks. The studio is intimate and the teachers challenge you while staying positive. Pure Barre Wheaton is all around fantastic! First, the teachers are amazing. They are so friendly and really motivate you to do your best. They keep the classes upbeat, are always smiling, and make sure you are feeling the shake! Secondly, the studio is very clean.
