Then a couple of very energetic men wipe down your car with urgency to make sure it's dry, and they've got all the spots. Honestly, it's an excellent service for $12.50. However, this past week I decided to make my wife happy (not my normal MO), and go for a more comprehensive wash including vacuuming and wiping down the interior. I had to do it without the kids, because it involves taking the car seats out, and they don't get to watch from the inside which is the only reason they like it. This was literally only the second time in my life I've had this done. Because when I was a kid, I (1) didn't care about how my car looked and (2) I didn't have any money. (Although, getting it detailed may have helped keep me out of trouble and entirely avoid a confusing conversation with my father about him finding what he called "grass" on the floor of the car. I don't call it grass, and actual grass is entirely acceptable to find on the floor of a car.) And then I didn't have a car, because I lived in NYC, and cars are expensive and a pain in the ass. But then I had kids. And kids need lots of things, like cars to take them places. And kids ruin everything, including your car. All this is a long-winded way of saying, if you want your car to look like you don't have disgusting little monsters sitting in the back, actively throwing and mashing various edible items into and between your seats...this is a good spot. The other time I got the car detailed I went to a fancy, super-exclusive spot that charged me literally hundreds of dollars and my car was PRISTINE when I got it back. Cleaner than it was when we bought it. Here at Ultimate, I paid $50, and it was ALMOST as good. Not perfect, but really a great value. Best of all, it only took 25 minutes (during which I got some excellent tacos at El Tenampa a block away) instead of four hours. Efficiency is the name of the game here. My wife now demands that we do this quarterly.

It's owned by one of the friendliest couples I've ever come across. They're passionate about cars and treat my car like it's their own. On several occasions, the car is ready later than anticipated. It's not because they're behind schedule. Rather, they are going the extra mile to ensure every part of my car is perfect. I have a matte paint job, and it's a lot of maintenance to keep up. Every time I bring it here, it looks like the day I drove it off the dealership. On two occasions, I've had paint from a car I (gently) swiped on the body of my car. Somehow, they managed to get it off without dulling the matte. Magic. I've had my car detailed several times, got a light ceramic treatment, and even got my windows tinted here. They do it all. The car was full of swirls all over the paint, and they spent an incredible amount of time doing multiple passes polishing the car to get it to a MIRROR FINISH. I couldn't be happier. I know that the number of hours they spent on this car was significant because I kept checking sentry mode (remote viewing of the outer cameras -- lol a little creepy, I know) and they were consistently working on it for the better part of a week. They mentioned that it was in pretty bad shape when it came in and again, it looked GREAT when I picked it up. I came by the shop a couple times during the week to check in (and pet the dog) and everyone there is super nice. I ended up hanging out for a bit just to talk cars and chat. Roland was super fair with pricing, and I'll definitely be coming back for a re-up of the ceramic coating, and this is the only place I've been bringing my car to get washed too, since even the touchless car washes use microfiber cloths to dry the car at the end, which leave swirls on the oh-so-delicate Tesla paint.

Before he began, he asked if I had any questions and he answered any of my concerns. He spent about 4 hours reviving my 2014 minivan and it looked pretty awesome afterwards. I did noticed a couple of minor deficiencies and he quickly addressed and rectified them. The service cost is a bit high but I was pleased with his efforts and his results. They did a good job, I had a ton of bird stuff on my car and they got it all off and made the car shine. The one thing I will mention is that it does take a little while since it's a hand wash place, I think it took about 40 minutes (not counting the time before it was my turn) so make sure you are not in a rush.
