I've been going here for about 5 years now, and I really like it. It definitely feels a bit more on the bougie side for a dentist but it makes the experience more enjoyable. My dentist, Dr. Bezanis, is really kind and personable, but, most importantly, is very intelligent. A strength of hers is being able to communicate the medical nonsense to the layperson so that they (I) can make the most informed decision. Every time I go it does seem like they're trying to sell me a specific water floss or electric toothpaste, but they're not pushy about it. They run my insurance prior to each visit, so I always know the price of my visit and/or procedure before I make the decision. I think they're great. Five stars. read more

I found Pure Dental Spa via a search through ZocDoc for a pediatric dentist and booked an appointment for my 2yo. Receptionists, hygienist, and Dr. Tadros were all super caring and extremely patient with my toddler. Hygienist had Magic School Bus playing already and convinced my nervous toddler to sit in the exam chair with a box of toys. My kid loved the airplanes. Dr. Tadrous gave us a referral to a pediatric dentist after examining the inflamed gum tissue my toddler was complaining about and providing a syringe to help rinse the inflamed area. Hygienist gave my kid a watermelon flavored fluoride treatment. I'm very thankful that Pure Dental Spa gave my 2yo a great first time experience at the dentist's office. I have been a patient at Pure Dental Spa in the West Loop for approximately two years and had always had positive experiences until my most recent visit in May. During that appointment, I saw a new dentist, Dr. Wadwhania, who recommended a filling on my front left tooth. After the filling was completed, there was a visible crack. I returned to have it addressed, but was told that the filling was now "actually filled." Unfortunately, the crack remained. Following the procedure, my gums became inflamed and I experienced significant sensitivity to both hot and cold temperatures. Concerned about the ongoing issues, I visited my hometown dentist for a second opinion. An X-ray showed that the filling had not been properly placed and that there were gaps between the filling material and my tooth. The filling had to be completely removed and redone. Since then, I have attempted to contact the office multiple times regarding my concerns. I was told a manager would call me on Tuesday, but I never received a call. Despite the issues with the original work and the need to have it corrected elsewhere, I am still being charged for the follow-up visit that failed to resolve the problem. What should have been a routine filling has resulted in additional dental work, ongoing concerns about the appearance of my front tooth, and the possibility of needing cosmetic dentistry. I am extremely disappointed with both the quality of care I received and the lack of follow-up from the office. A great place for people with money to spare and the one very specific insurance they take. They do NOT at any point let you know they are not in your network - like every other doctor and dentist would. My bad for not triple checking, but suspect ethics on their part. Incompetent front desk, total money grab. I got here early, checked in, and somehow the lady at the front desk completely forgot I was here. I sat and waited for 20 minutes, watching people who arrived after me get called back. I then got a phone call from the front desk to ask if I was still coming to my appointment, when I was literally sitting right there. Without apologizing for her mistake, she then had the doctor come get me, who then told me he didn't have time for my cleaning because I was 20 min late (no, I was actually early). I asked the front desk lady after what had happened and she took zero accountability and didn't apologize. Really poor service and just don't understand how that can happen. I saw Dr. Bezanis, who was referred to me by a mutual friend. I was looking for a second opinion. Dr. Bezanis was able to squeeze me in last second. I ended up needing 2 fillings and she stayed later than needed to do them the same day for me so I wouldn't have to come back, which was an issue due to my busy work schedule. She was professional, knowledgable, answered all of my questions, and made me feel very comfortable. I will be switching my husband over to her care and practice! I have been going to various locations of oure dental spa for years (Lincoln park, west loop and wicker park) and used to really love it because I did feel a huge difference in the care in my teeth. Recently, I decided to finally listen and remove my wisdom teeth. Unfortunately, they failed to tell me the surgeon was not in network which really defeats the purpose of me having it done by the surgeon at Pure Dental Spa (bloomingbrook office) . Then my surgery was complicated which I understand happens but I had to call multiple times to be seen before my postop visit. When I was finally seen after having to call and essentially offer to go to any clinic, they told me I did in fact have an infection. Additionally, I had some nerve damage and called regarding pain. I was told by the dentist she would reach out to the surgeon and get back to me. It's been two weeks and still no answer. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kim and Pure Dental Spa in West Loop! After three years without seeing a dentist (grad school life + no insurance), I was really nervous about going in. But from the moment I walked in, I knew I'd made the right choice. The whole experience feels more like a spa than a dentist's office. They give me a warm neck pillow and a cooling eye mask, there are TVs at every station, and they have a drink station! But the best part? They do a paraffin hand wax treatment - I've never experienced anything like that at a dentist before! Dr. Kim is absolutely incredible. During my initial cleaning and x-rays, she really took the time to explain everything going on with my teeth - where the issues were, what the treatment plan would be, and why. She was so understanding and never once made me feel judged for not seeing a dentist in three years. As someone who normally goes every six months and takes really good care of their teeth, I was worried about being lectured, but she was just genuinely kind and informative. I needed some cavity work and filling replacements on both sides, and they scheduled it so they'd only do one side at a time. I just had the right side done today, and Dr. Kim knew how nervous I was. She was so gentle, gave me plenty of Novocaine, and made sure I was numb before starting. She worked quickly and efficiently while still being careful and patient. Yes, dental work is never comfortable, but she made it as easy as possible. All the hygienists are so sweet and personable too - the whole team just makes you feel taken care of and like you are more than just a number or another patient. I have my left side scheduled for next week, and honestly, I'm not dreading it because I know I'm in the BEST hands. Let me preface this review by reminding Yelpers that those who have 5/5 experiences anywhere are less likely to leave reviews. I receive my primary dental care from Pure Dental Spa and enjoy it. When I needed my wisdom teeth removed, it was a very convenient process to have the procedure done by their in-house oral surgeon, Dr. Prem Patel, rather than getting an outsourced referral. He is skilled, high energy, and his bedside manner is good. The procedure went well with no immediate post-op pain. Where Pure Dental Spa struggles is in terms of communication. There is no centralized location for patient info (no patient portal, etc.). This might be a helpful addition, especially with their different locations and expanded services like in-house oral surgery. I was emailed a couple of possible surgery times and replied with my preferred time. I never received a reply or confirmation, so I assumed that this particular time and date was on the books. I had a gut feeling to call the office to confirm my surgery time, and I'm glad I did! The very kind person on the other end did see that the date from the original email was on the books, but that I was scheduled for a different time. The lack of a confirmation email and the lack of a patient portal could've been very costly ($200, to be exact per their no show/cancellation policy). I did not receive written pre-op reminders until less than 24 hours before my surgery time. Luckily, this was not my first surgery experience so I was able to fill in contextual blanks when needed. I can imagine if this were my very first time getting surgery or IV sedation, the communication leading up to the surgical date may exacerbate any existing anxious feelings. I was also asked if I would be willing to move my surgery time up 2 hours at 6pm the night before the surgery itself. This seemed strange, especially given the late notice, their own 3 day confirmation policy, and the restrictions around food and water intake prior to a surgery like this one. I elected to keep my original appointment time. As other reviewers have mentioned, billing and insurance is where things get truly wobbly. After my initial virtual consultation with Dr. Patel, I was forwarded an invoice for the procedure according to and adjusted for my remaining insurance benefits. I received two invoices. One just after the virtual consultation and another one business day later. The 2nd (and corrected!) invoice was ~$1,000 less than the original. The office noticed the issue with the more expensive quote and resolved it promptly. Just a note if any initial quotes seem too high, call the office to verify everything is accurate. In terms of postoperative care, I wish they would have filed any necessary prescriptions ahead of time. Just FYI that this particular office files them on the day of surgery, even when surgeries are scheduled on Sundays. The pharmacist also noted that is not the norm when I went to pick up the meds. I didn't feel I had enough gauze in the post-care bag given (only a few strips), so you might have to grab extra from the pharmacy while picking up those meds! I'm also thanking myself for pre-ordering the ice pack headband featured in just about every wisdom teeth recovery video. I mention this because a single disposable ice pack is given with your post-care bag. Depending on where you stay in the city, that ice pack will be gone with the wind (melted) before you get halfway home. Overall, a quick, solid, and painless surgical experience, just keep in mind the considerations outlined above .
