After two visits, I would NOT recommend going here if you have complex jaw issues. My issue is that my discs are displaced and locked, not just that my muscles are sore bc of clenching and griding. Went I first saw Dr. Hoffman, he recommended botox in my masseters and temples. He also recommended a repositioning split. The bill that I was given at that appointment included both the botox and the fitting for the splint which was done at the follow up appointment two weeks later. This was well over $1k. At my follow up appointment, the fitting for the splint took only about 30 seconds which I found concerning. Then i got the price for the splint which was $4k. I did not feel comfortable paying this after a 30 second measurement, so I decided to get a second opinion before moving forward. He also told me that he has only treated this in 5% or less of his patients. Overall, I am very unhappy with my experience here. I felt pressured into spending over $1000 on something that was totally unnecessary. I wish he would have been upfront and honest about his ability to treat my issue and recommended that I go somewhere that is more specialized in TMJ problems.

They said I need to go to urgent care for that. I go to urgent care, they find nothing wrong, I go to my primary doctor they find nothing wrong. Months later it is still there, I have a routine cleaning. They tell me I need a root canal and the bump is from a root canal. They went ahead and quoted me thousands of dollars and made an appt for me with the endodontist for this to happen. I thought this was strange, so I wanted to go see an endodontist somewhere else to get a second option. So I head over to aspen dental, the endodontist took X-rays and a quick check, and said nothing is wrong but it looks like you have an overdue filling that caused your gums to swell. Chicago dental was going to preform a completely unnecessary procedure on me. I told them there is a filling I need done, they saw the images and filled it. I'm not sure if it's a money scan or truly a lack of knowledge. They cost me thousands of dollars telling me in the first place the bump I had was nothing they could deal with when in reality it was just an overdue filling. The front desk staff is very unknowledgeable and never should have let this situation happen.

Before any physical examination or proper diagnosis, a staff member came in and quoted me $1,600 for Botox injections. When I pushed back, another person came in to push the same recommendation. At no point had anyone touched or examined my jaw. When the actual specialist finally saw me, he recommended Invisalign as the only real solution at nearly $6,000. This is not standard diagnostic practice for TMJ. Even though Dr. Hoffman said he was 90% sure it would correct my TMJ. Botox and Invisalign are not minor suggestions. Botox is an injectable neurotoxin with real risks including muscle atrophy, asymmetry, difficulty chewing, and unpredictable results. Invisalign is an irreversible commitment that permanently changes your bite. Recommending both within minutes of meeting a patient, without a single hands-on evaluation, felt dangerous and negligent. I sought two independent second opinions. Both providers told me Invisalign was completely unnecessary for my condition. A dentist I recently saw also noted my masseter muscles are very small -- which makes the Botox recommendation even more alarming, as Botox is typically indicated for overdeveloped muscles. People suffering from TMJ are often in pain, vulnerable, and desperate for answers. They deserve an honest and thorough evaluation -- not an immediate $7,600 upsell of unnecessary and potentially harmful procedures. I'm grateful I trusted my gut and walked out.

I've been going to Shoreline Dental and Mollie Rojas for over 2 years now, and everything was fine…read moreup until today. I had a standard cleaning and x-ray check up, and afterwards, Mrs. Rojas checked my x-rays and mentioned that there appears to be potential cavities based on the x-rays. As a preventative measure, she recommended Silver Diamine Fluoride. I never heard of this, and I asked her if there were any side effects. She said it was safe and it's often applied to children (she also added that it was safe in that she applies it to her own son). I took Mrs. Rojas word and she made the first of two applications. I came home and noticed on the bottom of my lip a black mark. After googling Silver Fluoride side effects, one is that it can turn your teeth black and can also blacken the skin. I called up Mrs. Rojas, and asked her why she didn't mention this side effect, especially when I asked her about potential side effects. She said she didn't remember that I asked the question, and that the side effect of blackening teeth/skin is very rare. I was astonished that she said she didn't recall me asking, and even more astonished that she knew of the side effect. The Silver Fluoride requires two applications. I told her that I do not want to be charged and I'm not taking the second application. She said that the side effect is no reason for her not charging me, and that the benefits of preventive cavity treatment outweigh the potential side effects of blackened teeth/skin. This answer from Mrs. Rojas is alarming. Her judgment as a health care professional is off and her ethics are questionable . I can not trust Mrs. Rojas after this experience, and I'm hoping this side effect is not permanent.

Takes approx 1 hour. Before Northside I went to dentology west loop where they "found" 2 cavities on my first visit then told me I needed a root canal. After 18 mo of being a Northside patient, they've diagnosed 0 cavities and confirmed the "root canal worthy pain" was from poor tooth shaping from a cavity fill at dentology. I get regular X-rays with Northside Shout out to my hygienist Pam who is always kind, easy to talk to, lets me know what's going on, and makes the whole experience pleasant.

This morning on the way to work, I made the (unwise) decision to try to drive over a mattress that was lying in my alley, and it got seriously stuck underneath my car. While I was trying to get it out, one of the employees from Sugar Fix noticed my dilemma while watering the flowers out front, and went completely out of her way to help. Along with another one of her colleagues, I was able to get the mattress loose and safely out from under my car. Without their help, I probably would have lost hope and abandoned the car while trying to figure out where in life I went wrong. Seriously, the two workers from Sugar Fix were incredibly helpful, and I honestly would have had a much worse morning if it were not for their assistance. They went above-and-beyond, and I am seriously considering switching my dentist solely because of their assistance.
