Called Pure Hockey and asked if they sharpen figure skates, they do NOT sharpen figure skates.

We came to the store today to get blades sharpened but ended up looking around for a few other things. The staff was really knowledgeable about everything and helped us pick out what we needed. read more

I don't understand how this store gets good reviews. I guess because it is the only option nearby? The stock is limited, extremely disorganized. And forget it if you need any women's gear. No prices on anything, it's a mystery game. No employees want to help in anyway, you have to track them down and a vast majority of them are rude and inconvenienced that you're there. If you have a question, forget it. Skate sharpening is a huge rip off, and if you ask why they decided to give you a more expensive sharpening than what you asked for, you're told either "it's standard" or "we can kinda charge whatever we want" The only reason I've gone in here recently is their coupons we've received making new gear affordable. Went to the Westminster location for new equipment for my son. Not busy at all but the guy we tracked down for help immediately had no interest in answering our questions about sizing and pricing. He was short with us from the start and kept taking off. Found another guy, he was the same. We had several pieces of equipment to buy and it took way too long to sort out what the prices were and the sizes that worked. Equipment was unorganized which didn't help. I'll be avoiding this location at all costs. I've had much better luck at Monkey Sports in Greenwood Village. read more

So I am reviewing this place as a repair shop, less a gear shop. During a recent hockey game, I had some...well bad luck . . . broken skate, broken helmet, and broke my bag - YES ALL IN ONE GAME!!! So I head over to the Bench and went back to the repair area. The guy behind the counter was incredibly helpful. As a D3 hockey player, I don't know the difference between all the different options. He calmly and patiently explained my options and definitely did not over sell me - in fact, I was pushing him to sell me on stuff and he just wouldn't bite! The price for the new skate parts were very reasonable and he fixed my helmet for free. While I did not look through the gear, this place has everything you could possibly want. I would expect that the prices would be brick and mortar, i.e. you can always find this stuff cheaper online, but it is convenient having it all right there. Great place and great service! read more

The customer service here is a giant 2 thumbs down for us. We've spent a ton of cash here as the shop is in a convenient location, but in 95% of our experiences there it's like pulling teeth to ever get anyone to willingly help. The last time we were at the store the kid checking us out had his dang AirPods in and couldn't even manage to coherently speak to us. At least they've finally gotten the place organized...so 2 stars for that I guess. read more

Used to shop here years ago, however, I have since moved to Phoenix. I flew back to CO in May for a hockey tournament. The wonderful baggage folks at SWA broke a holder on one of my skates. Sadly, they don't make my holders anymore so I purchased a new pair of skates. They were great on helping me with my purchase. Two months later, the steel on one of those skates broke. I was concerned about how the warrantee process would work since, 1: I am not the in person. 2: I do not have the box (left it in CO) & 3: I misplaced the receipt. I called the store and the gentlemen on the phone was great. After some updating my info in the computer, I have new blades in the mail. In fact, I received the shipping notification 5 minutes after hanging up. If I get the steel before my game on Monday, I may have to increase this to 6 stars. Thanks! read more

If you're getting into the sport (either hockey or lacrosse) these guys will get you geared up. They have a good selection of options from entry level to top of the line and while they seem to stay well stocked they can order things up from other stores quickly if you they don't have what you need. If you ask the guys up front for help they will help you make selections and get the right fit. They seemed interested in actually helping vs steering you toward the most expensive items. Pricing is competitive with the various online stores so may as well go in and support a local store even if its part of a bigger chain. You won't get the personal touch any other way. read more

Clean, organized, and has a helpful staff. I always head to players bench to get my skates sharpened- they do the flat-bottom V cut which I haven't found anywhere else and love- and usually wind up with some other good stuff at a good price before they're done. read more

After finding out I was sized incorrectly two months ago I went in today to get a new pair of skates. Joey went above and beyond to make sure I got the correct skates and everything fit correctly after having such a poorly fitting skate previously. I have had nothing but amazing experiences every time I have been in this store, but today topped them all. Probably a great store for pro and full time hockey players but if you just want a pair of skates to play pick up games with your friends don't visit this store. Clerks are too arrogant to bother helping amateurs. They wouldn't help me find a simple pair of skates for my teen age son. I try to shop local but experiences like mine at Pure Hockey make me revert to Amazon where I can purchase and return from the comfort of my home. First of all I live in Breckenridge and I decided to go to players bench to try on some skates. I had it in my mind I wanted the Bauer nexus line. A nice young sales associate named Zach helped size me and explained to me that the nexus catered to a very specific foot shape. After helping me try on the nexus and supreme, I found the supreme was a better decision for my foot. Thank you Zach for getting me fitted right and helping find the right skate for me. read more

I am a figure skater, and I desperately needed my blades sharpened. Pure Hockey was the only place that was open because of Covid-19. I called ahead and asked if they could sharpen figure skates. When I went in, they were very, very nice and helped me with everything. I told them about some pain that I was having on my ankle bones because of my skates, and they told me that they could put an indent in to release some pressure. I asked them to do that and then came back the next day. Unfortunately, one indent was on the wrong side of my boot, but they were very helpful and re-did it, and then told me that I didn't have to pay for any of it, not even the sharpening I got done. Usually, I would have been very upset if somebody messed up my skates, but these were old and I was about to get a new pair. It definitely helps that they were so understanding and helpful. The sharpening was also wonderful! I definitely recommend it, even if you aren't a hockey player! Everyone was wearing masks and they were so nice! read more

That's exactly what I want to do... let you know about a great ice hockey retailer...the Players Bench store in Westminster, CO. You've got to go to this store. Be IN the store. Then you will know what I know. First off: Terry Geer, the manager, was Equipment Manager for the Colorado Avalanche for 11 years, up to a couple of years ago. They don't give PhD's in ice hockey. But Terry has a PhD in ice hockey gear as far as I'm concerned. There is very little, if anything, that he doesn't know in the field. He is a guru. You or your kid will never walk out of the Players Bench Westminster Store with a pair of skates, shin guards, pads that is anything but the best fit for your feet (or any of your other various body parts) and for the kind of skating you do. Period. I made two trips to Westminster from Albuquerque this past summer, just for the purpose of outfitting myself as a newbie to ice hockey. (Lookout hosers. I'm learning fast and picking up steam.) I am telling you, this is the one place to go. For your sake. For your kid's sake. I don't care if you have to wait in a line that stretches out the door and down the block. The Westminster Players Bench store. Okay? I mean it. If you knew me you'd want to thank me. And there is also Ozzie at that store. He is an ice hockey maven. But Terry has some years on Ozzie and he may or may not skate as well (I don't know) but Terry is on top of the mountain in his field. I am unaffiliated with Players Bench. I have no reason to write what I just did other than that it is true as true can be and that hockey is a game that I am starting to love and I want to pass along the best advice that I can give to other players and aspiring players. I hope you read this and that you check out the Westminster Players Bench. You will be glad you did, you will have the best advantage that the best gear, for you, can provide, and I will be very happy to know that I passed along the best advice I can give. Just do it. I would out up more stars, if I could. This location is the BEST!!!! We have been going there for 2+ years and have nothing but great service. We went there to get a new pair of skates for my son, long story short they couldn't get them fitted well(over a month trying to break them in and then 4 days of trying to punch out pain spots) and they took them back and gave us a full refund and I know they did not have to do that, but I will get our skates there every time! We ended up in a newer model of the same skate he had but they were GREAT!!! and went above and beyond!!!!! read more
