I had an appt scheduled four weeks in advance with Sarah. I received a call several days ago…read moreasking me to change the time for the convenience of the technician since there were gaps in the schedule. I happily accommodated them by moving my appt. When I arrived, I asked the tech, Sarah, to turn down the very loud dance club music. She said no that the laser machine would drown it out. That would have been impossible since it was blaring and stressful for me eminating all the way into the waiting room. She did turn it down 2 notches (making a very minuscule difference) all the while saying she does not adjust her music and said "It''s not like I'm here for a facial" but when I asked if she could turn the sound off, she said no. I was shocked. Having been in client service for more than 20+ years, I couldn't believe it. Having a bikini wax performed is the most vulnerable experience for a client and knowing that my comfort mattered so little to her I could not go forward with my appt. The thought of laying naked waist down on a table with that music and her performing a laser procedure on my most private area was such an uncomfortable prospect. Sarah has a lot to learn about client service. I guess accommodating preferences is only for the clients to do for the technicians and not vice-a-versa.

There is a great deal of intellectual value in feeling good about yourself. Especially when it is…read moreachieved through non-invasive ways. Thus, I decided to explore what cosmetic dermatology has to offer for me.     I consider myself a smart shopper -- I do my homework before committing to purchase. I don't have unlimited funds either.  I got a few recommendations from various sources and set up my consultations. I met aesthetic specialists with extensive and impressive portfolios and formed an idea of what I wanted to have done. In the process I got offered hard to beat deals and went for it. Only to learn that any cosmetic enhancement is not just a purchase of a product, it's an investment in your provider's clinical artistry, skill and expertise... I did not like large dermatology practices. It felt like in their attempts to carry every injectable product under the sun and offer every cosmetic procedure known to man, they somehow compromised their chance to stand out and stand for something they believe in.  I was not comfortable in a rushed, conveyer-belt type of an environment, neither was I satisfied with their standard text-book recommendations. A couple of my friends invited me to attend an event at Juno Dermatology in Palm Beach Gardens, where I met Brittany Zimmerman, a physician assistant specializing in medical and cosmetic dermatology. Brittany conducted a live cosmetic procedure demonstration at the event. Her performance was art, her approach - science. That evening changed the way I perceived cosmetic procedures, and everything I had learned about them up to date.    I was immediately drawn to the boutique style of the whole practice, the contemporary elegance of the office and its welcoming staff.  I scheduled a private consultation with Brittany for the following week.          Brittany listened carefully to learn what it was that brought me to them in the first place. And then we talked about the main components of beauty - shape, color, texture, and size--and their hierarchy. We singled out what concerned me the most and worked out a treatment plan to correct it. I was bothered by some facial volume loss and skin laxity that took away from the ethnic uniqueness I was always proud of. I also had concerns about the overall look of my skin, uneven texture and pigment. Brittany explained to me that shape is the most important "aspect of beauty" - it makes a dramatic difference in the projected age and attractiveness of the face. Aesthetic providers who simply opt to increase the size of lips or cheeks without taking into consideration creating a shape produce undesirable results. Changes of even a few millimeters in the face can be quite remarkable. We also talked about things seemingly unrelated to my cosmetic consultation - clothes, travel, music, books. Brittany gave me a chance to get to know her, and she learned about me and my style. She told me it helped her to understand what outcome I was looking for and why, and she came up with an individualized treatment plan to produce the results that not only fitted my face, but my personality as well.   I had filler treatments to restore and add the volume and re-contour the definition I was starting to lose. It revived my features, made me look and feel myself again.   I am also planning to start a series of microneedling with PRP treatments to work towards improving the texture of my skin and maintaining its youth.   I must conclude that Brittany proved to me that non-surgical cosmetic enhancements can pack a big punch without being obvious when done by a skillful, passionate and talented provider.

I've had good experiences with the doctors and practitioners in person and during appointments, but…read morethe office is very disorganized. Their disorganization has regularly put me through phone tag hell and left me stranded without my medication. Departments do not communicate between each other adequately and they have failed to refill my prescription after prescription refill appointments not once but twice in the last two years, resulting in painful weeks waiting for my medication. I've currently been calling and leaving messages every day this week begging for the refill I paid to have done two months ago with no response from any practitioner. I will be seeking a new doctor to monitor my autoimmune disease and administer my refills.
