I am very disappointed that a supposed "wellness" company will not provide a full refund for a medical cancellation. Instead they kept $84 of my payment because they have a cancellation clause of 20%. That is a complete rip off since I gave them over 6 weeks notice of cancellation! Not impressed! read more

My mom and I went to Pure Spa on Saturday for a Mother's Day celebration. First of all, I was shocked to find that it's not busy at all. Apparently they are not actually owned by the hotel (Coast Bastion) inside which they're located, which is actually nice because I was able to get an appointment for Mother's Day weekend less than a week in advance. We booked the Saturday special (they have a special on different services for each day of the week), which included a facial, 45 minute massage, pedicure, and steam cabinet treatment for $159...crazy value. For those who frequent the spa, you know that you can spend that on two of those services alone. The spa director greeted us immediately and was friendly and organized. The steam cabinet treatment was awesome...a great precursor to the massage as it relaxed my extremely sore calves which had been battered by the Wreck Beach stairs a few days prior (totally worth it, of course). My aesthetician, Sarah, was awesome. I felt totally comfortable with her, and we had great conversation but she also knew when to let me relax. The facial and massage extended beyond what I expected, and was extremely relaxing. The best part of the day was the pedicure. I am a FREAK about having my feet/cuticles touched, so much so that I rarely if ever go for pedicures recently because I don't trust people. Sarah was awesome...and my feet look better, I think, than they ever have, and I've had many pedicures. We were able to order lunch and drinks from the restaurant, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere was very relaxing and clean, and though I have been to better appointed spas, their sunny terrace overlooking the marina was amazing to enjoy. Apparently they can even do the pedicures out there. I will definitely be going back for another pedicure, and perhaps for their (many) other services, all of which you can get for a deal if you visit their website. read more

Can I come here everyday? Everyone who's been to a spa knows exactly what I'm talking about! And Pure Spa is no exception. It's like the little puppy you put in your pocket because you want to cuddle it all day! ALL FREAKIN' DAY! And like a puppy, Pure Spa is: - Super friendly - Inviting - Lovable I came as a group of 5 girls and we had the entire spa to ourselves! Yeah, ALL OF IT! It's on the smaller side so it's not like we had freedom to run around the Taj Mahal, but it's still pretty awesome. We were even allowed to bring our own food in and enhance our royalty treatment with tons and tons of food circa imaginary-food-scene-in-Hook. But I do recommend bringing a crown, cape and British accent to really get into character. On your next trip to Nanaimo, be sure to hit downtown and pamper yourself with a stop at Pure Spa. You won't be sorry. As a friend said after her Body Scrub: "that was the best spa I've ever been to". And the prices are super reasonable too! C'mon, cuddle that puppy! read more

Like the other reviewers here on Yelp, I also found the experience to be warm and friendly and so I give them 2 stars for that. I came for a massage for myself and my daughter. What we received was closer to caressing than massaging. We should have read the reviews on Trip Advisor. Had it been a male masseur, I would have been very uncomfortable. I can get my husband to gently rub oil all over my body with a caressing touch. I expected a massage. I left still needing a massage. read more

I visited Pure Spa yesterday with my best friend for a girl's day out. We were greeted with warmth and treated to a blissful few hours of massages, facials and pedicures. The treatments were amazing! The owner Karen was so genuine and helpful. She even spend time with us after our treatments to talk about skin care. Karen is such a warm person, she really takes the time to make you feel cared about and comfortable. I would recommend this spa to anyone. The best massage I have had in Nanaimo, and my skin is still glowing! I was completely impressed and would not hesitate to go back or to recommend this spa to my friends and family. read more
