The stylist started slowly brushing through my hair to see which way my hair fell (which should be the proper procedure). That is when the owner came by, wound up a timer and set it for about 20 minutes. She then promptly sat down, arms crossed and watched. Obviously, this got the stylist nervous and she quickly started cutting. And out popped my cowlicks like 'wack-a-moles! At the end of the cutting, hair product was liberally applied to control what was left of my hair. What a disaster!

Also, If you are looking for a really cheap hair salon - this isn't it: I had highlights put in to take away some of the white (I passed grey some time ago). I also booked this appointment online and I learned that it is okay to book any spot that is open but was advised to book ahead as they get quite busy. But the BEST part was, apparently they have a loyalty program and I ended up getting $12 off of the price! As if I needed a reason to go back to Chatters (both Nanaimo and Victoria have great hair dressers), now I'm definitely not getting my hair done anywhere else!

I wanted BOLD definitive highlights and what I got was what the stylist called balayage. But I didn't get that either but was charged for it anyways. Not to mention, I was covered with hair when she took the cape off. I have never been to a salon where they don't brush all the hair off of you before you leave the chair. I return to the salon today expressing my disappointment and all my stylist said was well your hair didn't lift it, and that basically there was nothing she could do about it. She then encouraged me to come back in for another treatment and I said oh great for free and she said oh no you still have to pay; company policy. Then she said she actually under charged me for what she did. I spoke with a friend of mine who is a professional stylist and she said that's terrible customer service and that they should have fixed it at no cost to me. Never again.

Being a Japanese woman, i have been having difficulty finding an eyelash person who can do Asian eyes in a natural beautiful way. Today, finally my search is done. Vina is really good, fast, professional and a very nice person. The salon is very clean and without chemical smells - the problem that I experienced at a couple eyelash salons in Nanaimo. Right now the have $39/classic full set as a promotion on top of all.
