Stopped by for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, and we were able to get our order in quickly. The ambience was lively, and I can imagine they could get busy during peak hours. We tried the Korean pork, pho beef, green curry shrimp, and grilled fish tacos. Out of those four, our favorites were the shrimp and fish tacos. The Korean pork and pho beef tacos were good too, but there wasn't much about them that made them taste like their namesakes. The tacos were also on the pricier side ($4-5/taco) for their size. Overall, PureTaco has a lot of potential. I think they could do really well if they bumped up the flavors of their Asian fusion tacos. read more

Came here while on vacation, and ended up came back twice more during our stay. These are literally the best tacos my family and I have ever had. Lots of choices, fresh ingredients, and a diverse selection of choices including their signature fish tacos and a number of international cuisine fusion flavors that were amazing and unexpected. This is my second visit to Pure Taco. The tacos are awesome! We've tried several of the tacos. Our family favs are the Baja fish, pho beef, and surprisingly the veggie. First, the good part about Pure Taco is the service, the cashier (this is why I gave this review 3 stars) that was working Fri Oct 20th, went to graduate school for Customer Service! Congrats Pure Taco your people know how to provide above-average service. She asked how I was doing and stuck up a friendly conversation, for a fast food place that was very nice! Typically you get that what do you want and next-person attitude, but not here. The Bartender was good too although I didn't buy a drink. I was curious about the kind of beer they had, and he saw me looking at the bar, he offered me the drink menu but no go, there was not one original American or Mexican beer, sorry Pure Taco but there is nothing better than a Coors (or whatever your fav Merican beer is) light or Corona with a taco, all they serve is fancy unknown ( maybe microbrews) beers, so I had water. Ok, more good highlights: the section by the street has heaters, and the section with no heaters has blankets, no really, they loan you blankets. Now as for the food, I had the Korean bbq pork taco, the taste was ok but I would have preferred a regular old corn tortilla holding my taco. I couldn't tell if taco tortillas were flour or corn, but I did notice my two friends left the tortilla part of the tacos on the plate. I also had the grilled fish taco, it was tastey but it could have been done without the pepper --who puts BLACK pepper on a taco, the problem is it OVERwhelms the other flavors, drop the pepper. The worst part of the meal was the guacamole. How do you screw up guac?? Black Pepper --again overwhelmed the other flavors. Quac is simple, Avacado and one ingredient, pick one, cilantro, red onion or salt, or nothing. Typically every one inhales guac.. I should have taken a picture to post here but 90% of the guac was left. And I don't know what kind of oil they are using for the chips but the chips are too oily and too salty also really bad. I would NOT order chips and guac, period. If you want lines around the corner, serve up at least one plain beer, one American, and one Mexican, fix the guac and chips taste, and consider changing the tortilla. Some of the best taco places are basic, check out the Taco Shop in Encinitas, lines around the block most nights all night. Thats my .77cents :). read more

We ordered the veggie tacos and were throughly disappointed as they were mostly rice and flour tortillas. For $30 we were expecting something special, not even sure if the tortilla was cooked??? Went there last night with a friend. Asked for a pineapple margarita & it took 3 bartenders to figure out to make it. It was super bitter but I drank it anyway. The servers seemed unhappy in general & were yelling over us (we were sitting at the bar) about taking breaks & when they were leaving & arguing about it. The food came out in about 2 seconds after we ordered it so obviously not made fresh. Both my pastor taco & fish were cold. $50 for that experience is not worth it. Will not be coming back. I've been a bar manager for 5 years and it is very clear they need some proper management in that place. read more

We came today and ordered a 1/2 flight of tacos, a burrito and two kids meals for..... $71 dollars. For a lunch. We could not believe it and I kept wondering where did we go wrong? We knew the prices. I've calculated over and over and then I found it. Fine fine print on the bottom Of the menu "4% surcharge will be added to all guest checks since minimum wage went up" If your going to just take customers money, you need to notify of any extra charges that do not come from the consumer ordering. Just like if there's additional credit card fees and notification comes up in the kiosk. Going to talk to my bank about this, it should be considered fraud. Good tacos. But let's talk the tacos! I got the braised pork, Pho beef, green curry shrimp. I started with the shrimp taco without a doubt one of the freshest tasting shrimp tacos I've had. Next was the beef taco, It's the perfect blend taco with meat to pico to sauce. But the beef was the star of all three. this was the cashiers favorite taco. After eating it I can see why. The shrimp burrito we ordered was instead a beef (?) one lacking flavor and missing the salsa and avocado we paid extra for. Don't waste your time or your money. Stood in line for 20 min with 3 people in front of us. We had to bus our own table because the employees walked by the dirty table for at least 5-10 min before we sat down and didn't bother cleaning it.
