They make it super easy for me to customize my tacos which is very important for me as I am picky. So far I have ordered, - Birria Tacos with just meat and cheese - Garlic shrimp taco with cheese and lettuce - Grilled chicken taco with cheese And a side of rice and beans. Absolutely everything was mouth watering. I love the rice because it's plain. I'm already looking forward to coming back. The service is fantastic. Super sweet & friendly employees. We went on Friday around 5:30 pm and thought it would be super busy but it wasn't. It had a nice, chill vibe to it. The weather was perfect for dining al fresco. Walking in there's a counter to order for food & non-alcoholic drinks and if you want an alcoholic drink you order at the bar. There's also a salsa bar. Plenty of seating both indoor and out. The employees were friendly, helpful & efficient. Ivan at the bar was very nice and gave my husband a warm welcome knowing it was our first time. Every dish we ordered was off the hook! Delicious! This place really surprised me in a good way. I got a burrito called "The Local," and it was massive. literally the size of my arm. But it wasn't just big--it was packed with flavor. There was a lot going on, but somehow it all worked together. My family went with burrito bowls and they loved them too said everything was super flavorful and filling. No chips are provided, though they can be purchased for an extra charge. Beans and rice are tiny portions, served in plastic cups. Decor is pretty basic, though lighting is a bit bright. This is more of a taqueria than a restaurant. Beers for sale (at a separate bar) are mostly craft and a bit pricey for a taqueria, especially if you just want simple cervezas to go with dinner. This is a new location of this small taco shop chain. Interestingly, they took over the same location where a different taco shop failed. This is more than a "Berto's" taco shop. The tacos and burritos are far more interesting and, dare I say, almost gourmet. I went with the Ghengis Nhan burrito (grilled chicken and chorizo) and it was phenomenal. Your food is made to order and you can really taste the quality and freshness. The salsa bar is great. They have a few nuclear spicy salsas along with some medium hot varieties and at least one moderate one. They also have fresh (and free) bagged radish slices and lime wedges in the salsa bar. Now, who does that? This location is unique because they actually have a counter where you can order draft beer. It looked like they had about six beers on tap. There is plenty of seating inside and a nice outdoor patio. My only knock is the chips. They were very ordinary and unseasoned. They could have been better. I love this chain. My wife had to pick up a jewelry repair order at Gems of LaCosta and since we were there around lunch time, I saw Los Tacos, did a quick Yelp and Google Review and suggested we try Los Tacos and BOY - WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DID!! And Armando the owner was so wonderful and he spent time chatting with me as I have done a lot of business in Mexico City with Televisa and Telcel, . . . . so it was a great bonding time and we talked about life, life in Mexico, the wonderful Mexican culture, and his passion for great food at Los Tacos!! But we waited over 30 mins for our tacos and the restaurant wasn't even 25% full. This has happened to us twice. Last time it was a 45 min wait for food!! I like to try a bean and cheese burrito as a first test for Mexican places because it's so basic. I tried their "The King" bean & cheese burrito. I was hesitant seeing the menu label describing the use of "Mexican mix" cheese, and I was correct about that. The cheese was a very salty cheddar blend that overpowered the flavorless beans. That said, the beans are what lose a star for this review, because the cheese is just personal preference. The tortilla was the best part. This was our first time here today and it was amazing! Staff was so friendly and accommodating to my dairy intolerance. I had the pollo burrito bowl and hubby had the surf and turf burrito. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and the only negative thing I'll say about this establishment is you might have a long wait time for your food. We usually eat around 700p-730p so toward the latter dinner hours. Our food was great though. We ordered the Genghis bowls and burritos at a different time. The cashier that took our order is part of the family business, and her dad was there, chef was the uncle, seemed like the brother was the busboy, everyone was so nice. I ordered the Al pastor, which was my favorite! But each one was so friggin good! The birria was juicy, and came with a dipping broth that was so flavorful and beefy. The shrimp wasn't spicy, even though it was supposed to be. the salsa bar was amazing, I loved the green ones: Serrano was spicy but was my favorite. There's even a chilled bar rail to keep your drink cold! Perfect for those of us who like to sip and savor. When I ordered a standard hazy, the bartender was quick to tip me off to a Mexican-style hazy they had on tap. I switched--and it was so worth it. The bar opens to a breezy outdoor patio, giving it a great indoor-outdoor flow. And of course--the food is still spot on. My go-to? The sashimi or tacos with their homemade tortillas. I went two days in a row and I'm going back again today. The owner Armondo is hands-on and very helpful and sweet. He has a great little staff, especially Lorenzo! We tried lengua, birria, and al pastor tacos - the carnitas quesadilla (so good) rice, beans and guacamole. I love guacamole that has tons of onions, tomatoes, and cilantro but I also love guacamole that's just so plain and simple like the one they serve here.... It's just so creamy and delicious.
