We had been renting a water softener for over 24 years from Roger Garrett, This past March we had a problem with the water. Chris came to the house and without doing anything, he diagnosed the problem to be our hot water heater. My wife had told Chris a plumber was just here the day before and said it was not the water heater. Chris then said okay, you need to replace a part on the water softebner and it may take up to two weeks to get the part and it would be approximately $1,200-$1,500. We said we don't own the softener we are only renting it. He said it does not matter, you will need to pay for the new part. We had the original rental agreement that was signed in 1994 and the parts and labor were covered under the rental agreement we said. Chris said no that's wrong. We told Chris do not order the part. We decided to replace/purchase a new water softener a few days later through our reliable and trustworthy plumber. The old water softener has remained in our basement since March. Roger or Chris have not hauled it away as called for in the rental agreement. I called Roger and Chris on August 10th.and Chris said he would pick up the softener the next day between 3:00 and 5:00. I took off work early so I could meet Chris at my home. Chris never showed up as promised and never called. Since that time, I called Roger twice and sent 3 text messages over the course of the next 9 days. Roger finally answered my last text & said they were very busy and would pick it up soon. Needless to say, I will never use Purely Water again and certainly would not recommend their services. Roger did not honor the rental agreement and has been very unresponsive. I certainly understand someone being busy but I also believe a simple pick up of equipment could have been completed sooner than 5 months and counting. Extremely unprofessional company! The son showed up in flip flops and shorts not very professional. Instead of reviewing the softener he just looked at it, and claimed that we need a softener for 4k. Then he charged us 200, had no tools with him, he needed tools from us, and pretended to service the system. Untrusting scammers should be stopped!!! read more

My daughter and son in law purchased a home with a Kineteco water softener system. Unfortunately my son in law passed away and my daughter and me were unaware they had a system. After time I located it in a crawl space but it had been long run out of salt. Going above and way beyond normal customer service Roger from Purely Water took the time to assist me, an unknown cold call with the Kineteco recharge method and how it functions and tips for its future operation. We have since spoke several times and he always takes the time for me. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a tremendous helpful attitude. When its time to replace my system I know who to call. I am very happy with this company. I met them at a show display and received an education on water filtration. Just to learn that was worth the time. But I decided to get a single tap kitchen filtration system. We arranged a time. Unlike a lot of servicemen, they were on time. They installed the system in good time and left the area clean. It was a little expensive (but standard for what I got) but worth every penny. One thing that I liked. They explained that it would reduce the contaminants to 12 (parts per million) and advised me to get a water tester to confirm. It actually brought it down to 7 from 250 town supply. As a comparison, I had a Britta filter with a new filter in place. It only dropped the contaminants to 220. I just got the filters changed out. They were punctual as always. To finish. I called purely water and told Roger that that I recently purchased a home with well water and that I had a sulfur smell. He asked me a few questions and quickly determined that it wasn't my well but my water heater and gave me a couple ideas to remedy the issue. Thanks purely water. ROGER GARRET/PURELY WATER IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOESN'T STAND BEHIND HIS WORK!!! Calls to him and KINETICO were fruitless! This all started on AUGUST 3rd, Friday, I noticed water leaking from 1 of the Water Softener tanks that are in the closet under the front stairs, after removing items that I store there. I found the invoice from when the system was originally installed in 2004 by ROGER GARRET of PURELY WATER. He was still in business so I called him; he answered immediately and said he would be out the next day. On Aug 4, Saturday, he diagnosed that the O-ring had to be replaced and he didn't have one with him. He said he would return the following Wednesday or Thursday; he didn't come or call. I called him that Thursday afternoon and left a message. He returned my call on Aug 11, Saturday, and came out and replaced the O-ring (which he said cost $5) in less than 30 minutes and charged me $205 (the check was cashed on Aug 14). I felt the price was kind of steep but at least the leak was fixed. WELL, IT WASN'T. I had waited a few days for the concrete floor in the closet to dry before returning my storage items. The floor remained wet and I could feel and see water around the neck of the tank. I made several phone calls(I have the phone records) and left messages for a week and explained that I was going away for vacation and I wanted to resolve this before I left; NO REPLY. While I was away my neighbor came over and changed the towels that were used to sop up the water. I returned home Aug 28,Tuesday, and called again. This time he answered and said he would bring his son Chris with him on Aug 30, Thursday. They came and Chris said he needed to replace the tank head and that he would order it. Since it was Labor Day weekend he didn't think he would get the part until Sep 6th or Sep 7th. Again, a NO SHOW, NO CALL. I called Sep 8, Saturday, and left another message. This time Roger's wife called me back and said Roger had forgotten his phone at home and she would tell him I called when he got home. I guess he never came home; I'M STILL WAITING! I had another water softener company come out and they identified the problem but Kinetico wouldn't sell them the part. It seems that Roger's the only Kinetico Dealer in the area and they only sell parts to Kinetico Dealers. I reported to Kinetico that Purely Water was not returning my calls after their failed repair. I never heard back from Kinetico either. I found a Kinetico company in Wappingers Fall, NY and I drove there to personally explain my situation. I had to wait 3 weeks to get an appointment which at this point was fine by me. So, on OCTOBER 16th "The Water Source" finally repaired the leak by replacing Level #6 of the tank head which had a CRACKED SCREW HOLE. Maybe ROGER GARRET/PURELY WATER only cares about jobs he gets through referral agencies that can rate him, like Angie's List, Home Advisor or Thumbtack. That's the only way I can see that he gets any rating over 1 star! read more

Roger solved the original problem that I contacted him for, awesome, no more rotten egg smell in my hot water. Roger said, take the anode rod out of your hot water heater. I was hesitant but did it, now no more rotten egg smell. I also had a bacteria problem with my well water, which the previous owner put a UV treatment system on to solve. Roger checked over my entire system and determined the cause of the contamination was from the well cap not having a seal. New well cap with seal and disinfected the system. Should be bacteria free next round of tests. Roger is a wealth of knowledge and takes the time to understand your system and offers good solutions to solve your unique problems. Roger still has not sold me anything, a well company put the new lid on and I took the anode rod out and disinfected the system myself. read more
