I was looking for a place for a funeral luncheon on a Saturday. This restaurant/deli is normally closed on saturdays but will open for special events. From the first contact with Chris or Wynona,,,,everything went very smoothly. The food was great....bathrooms were clean....parking was adequate. Everyone wanted the meatball recipe. I stopped in for lunch today and as soon as I walked in I was greated by two employees. They both said hello and one sat me right down at a nice table. Melissa (Missy) was my waitress and she was excellent. Way above and beyond average service, the atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly and attentive, didn't have to wait on anything at all. We ordered for pickup a NY Style BSP and Cleveland Style pepperoni and sausage. It took a little over 45 mins which was the goal time. One can order pizza by the slice so you can walk in and get pizza. They do a good job of social distance tables and one can eat outside as well. My 2 pizzas cost $45 which is a bit steep but they were good pizzas. Personally I liked the NY style which was really good fresh but not a pizza that you eat the next day. The Cleveland style was decent but pan pizza isn't my type. The cheese before sauce is minimal. read more

Day trip to GOTL and did a drive by the Harbor since we were out there before rolling home. Had the Large Pan Supreme...amazing and delicious as our server suggested the pan crust. Wish we lived closer to get that weekly. Nice surprise! read more

Vacationer here. I had heard there weren't good pizza places in the area, but then someone remembered Purola's, and so that's what we got after the Beach Glass festival last Saturday. It was deep dish, but unlike most deep dish, it was good. The crust had good yeasty flavor, there was adequate cheese on it, and the sauce was yummy. We took it to go, so I can't comment on a dining experience. I hope to return one day. read more

Ordered carry out and hostess said to go to the bar. Went over there and bartender looked at me several times and didn't say a word. Waited 10 minutes before hostess came over and asked if I was helped and I said no. She took my name and went in the back. Waited several more minutes and someone else finally came out I paid for my order and got my food. One of the worst customer service experiences I ever had. The bartender could have said someone will be with you in a minute but totally snubbed me. Management definitely needs to work on this. read more

Best Pizza ever! We ordered a large everything but the kitchen sink pizza and we split an over stuffed melt in your mouth calzone. I can never go back to Pizza Hut or any other pizza again, it was that good. I think we as American get used to heat and serve bad food, so we forget what food should taste like. Definitely a good find! Sad they moved further from town, changed their menu, but the food is delicious! We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there the evening before the wedding. Absolutely horrible. Came in for lunch because the reviews were good, ordered pizza and the waiter sets them on the table and my mom hands hers right back because there was a long piece of hair on top of it. Waiter apologized and took it back to get a new slice. My dads and I couldn't even eat our pizza, she left them in the oven too long and even told us that they were in the back talking about how they're over cooked!!! Then why would you give us the pizza knowing they're burnt??!! So we took the toppings off and ate the toppings and not the crust. Never again will we come here!! I recommend Mary's diner by far the best service and definitely will be the only place we eat for now on when we're here in Ashtabula! read more

Pretty darn good pizza and a nice menu to choose from. I loved that this spacious restaurant had plenty of seating and servers, but also had a counter for slices. I was able to get exactly what I wanted and let me tell you, it hit the spot! I toyed with the idea of the salad bar- because it looked fresh, well-stocked and very enticing. Then I decided if I'm going to misbehave I'm going to make it count. I had the NY thin slice which was exactly how NY pizza should be made. I also indulged in a pepperoni roll which was served with authentic marinara. My eyes were larger than my stomach and I had to take the vegetable deep dish slice home. I took a couple of bites and it was delicious, I was just too full. The spotlight of lunch was the stuffed pizza. I can't remember exactly what was in it, but it was essentially a deep dish pizza stuffed with all the typical toppings (lots of meat) and ANOTHER CRUST. PEOPLE! Another crust?? How can you not drool over that. It was amazing and stoop up pretty well. I expected it all to fall apart. Our server was a sweet pea and I thought it was a good value. We got 4 slices for $10. The Staff are VERY Rude, disrespectful and lazy all while Ignore customers then act like their doing you a favor by getting what was paid for while handing it to you with their little finger tips (like it has a disease) and the beautiful gross faces they make. To be honest, I absolutely love this place and have for years but I refuse to step foot in or get pizza to go until they RETRAIN their Staff on how to appreciate the people who help give them their paychecks!! There is absolutely no reason they gossip or play with their phones while people are waiting at the register for food. When you interrupt them, lord help you! Happened to be in the area so thought we would try some food out this way. Found Purola's on yelp and due to the reviews decided to give it a try, wasn't disappointed! Being from Ny I'm skeptical about pizza no matter how much people rave about it, but I have to say it actually put a fair amount of Ny pizza places to shame. The crust was perfect, and well as generous toppings but not overwhelming. We had the "chicken or bacon ranch" pizza except we got both on it instead, and had the sausage cheddar bites as an app which were delicious as well. Not only the best pizza I've had outside Ny but definitely up there with some of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to return and try other pizza's as well as their other food. We just came back from a delicious dinner at Purola's BSP. We had the most friendly waitress with a lovely view from the second floor. Ok. Follow me here. We are coming here from the Lake City/Springfield PA. We drove to Ashtabula for a work Christmas party and was introduced to the Purola brothers pizzeria. This is a step back in history. The strip over the Ashtabula bridge is growing with like minded entrepreneurs. The pizza was to die for and the marinara sauce is fantastic. Looking forward trying the rest of the menu items. We have been looking for a place to go to enjoy a night out.
