I went on a date night with my husband here the other night. I have been here several times before and had great experiences prior. Our instructor Lily was very informative and knowledgable. I never felt rushed during our painting process and Lily explained all the steps so it was easy to understand. Lily's demeanor was super sweet as well and she had a fun personality during instruction. Everyone else working and assisting were also welcoming and nice as well. The set-up is always organized and they gave us ample supplies. They have two rooms; I don't remember about the other room we weren't in but sample paintings are hung up which makes me ponder what I want my next painting to be. They allow food and drinks and they sell drinks and small snacks if you forget. They also sell paintings, frames for your paintings, and other knick knacks at the front. Overall it was such a fun experience for a date night or even a night out with your friends. Will be coming back again for sure. read more

Love this place! Every single painting in my house is from classes I took with Purple Easel. What a great idea for any occasion. I've literally been here for everything, birthdays, a date, family night, girls night, sister time, etc. Any group and any age would love this place. I especially love this place because its a dedicated studio for these paint nites. A place with plenty of paint buckets, all these sinks with the best soap, and just all the space with dedicated tables for each artist. A dream setup for any painter. Love the elevated stage where the instructors stand so we can see them easily and be able to see the painting up close and personal. I try to get seats closer to the front so I can see the strokes being taught and it's just nicer to not be completely surrounded by painters. Sometimes different strokes release more paint into the air with every stroke and if you're too close to your neighbor their strokes of paint will get all over you - so watch out! I always bring disposable drink coasters to put on top of my open cups and it helps keep paint out of my wine. I also put my phone in a ziploc to also keep it from getting paint splatters on it. If you are bringing food, eat it on the sides and near the counters not near your painting, again, its like a splash zone so unless you're on a break I'd try to avoid eating near the painters/paintings. The instructors here are amazing. Each one is super talented. Not sure how training happens here but everyone is so knowledgeable. They really do amaze me in the way they describe the strokes and give instructions. So easy to follow. Even the more basic artists or beginners I've been with, anyone can do a great job with this team. Love the freedom of putting your own color twist to the design or adding your own objects in the painting as you go along. With underwater designs, I always add in fish and this place really gives you all the creative freedom you want to tap into. An unlimited amount of paint makes it easy to be creative turning red flowers into yellow or a brown doors to silver doors. Really a remarkable experience! Especially in a studio, you just get more of a feeling that you're a real painter painting in your own studio. I don't love the paint nite competitors where they book patio seating or whatnot in other restaurants because you just don't get all the same space, freedom, or materials. read more

A little bit of a late review but worth coming back to rave about. I visited purple easel for a group galentines and it was so so fun! Paid less than $30 for two hours of instruction (our instructor was fantastic). You're able to bring in your own food and beverages which I feel is rare these days. You get breaks in between painting to chat and stand up to refill on your drink. What really stood out to me was their music. Whoever's putting their playlist together does a phenomenal job. It was such a fun vibe and so reasonably priced. We all loved our paintings and would definitely be back again. read more

Ain't no party like a purple paint party! We celebrated my best friends birthday with a trip to Purple Easel in Ontario! This paint and sip is located across from the Ontario Mills Outlet, and is definitely on the larger side with two full studios for classes. We chose to visit during Purple Easel's Hawaiian series ($28 per person), and received a warm welcome and a lei from Haylee and her team. How it works: 1. Choose which paint night you're looking to attend by checking the calendar on their website. 2. Purchase your seats! I recommend buying your pass ahead of time, especially if you're attending with a group, since sessions can get fully booked. 3. Pack your own snacks + booze, and arrive 30 minutes prior to your session to reserve seats! 4. Paint your masterpiece! Your instructor will guide you every step of the way. We had a blast channeling our inner artist! The painting we chose was definitely challenging, but we felt supported by the instructor and PE team through the entire course. read more

Went to purple easel for our 8 year anniversary and ended up having a blast. Biggest perks for us were that we could bring our own food and drinks but also that I was able to bring our newborn without any problems. Huge plus when you can bring a baby to a venue like that without it being frowned upon. I really enjoyed the process and the instructor moved at a good pace. I was able to produce something that I was happy with but my husband went rogue. Things to note would be to make sure to wear clothes that can get paint in them seems obvious but I was surprised by the amount of splatter we made. Also the tables were really small so if you're bringing a whole spread of food just know that there's not A LOT of room for paints AND a charcuterie board. Other than that we had an awesome time. LOVED "The Office" themed paint night! From the free pretzels, to the "that's what she said" jokes, to our very own Dundies award ceremony, it was such a fun night! The instructors are super helpful and explain the paintings step by step. There are also friendly staff around that can give you personalized tips and additional paint and supplies. They have cubbies and counter space around the room for storing your bags and food items. I love that you can bring your own food and drinks to enjoy during the class. They take breaks throughout the class so you can grab a bite of food or use the bathroom without falling too far behind. They also sell water and other drinks and snacks. Excellent experience celebrating my little guy's 7th birthday! If you are looking for something unique and creative for a kids birthday party, where your event will be the talk of the town (or class), then look no further than a private sip and paint party at Purple Easel--kids do the painting while you/adults do the sipping! My first encounter with Purple Easel started when another paint studio abruptly canceled my party 1.5 weeks prior to my event date. I had almost 40 guests confirmed to attend when this other studio deemed it appropriate to just cancel someone's (a paying customer's!!) event with almost no notice or explanation. Completely unprofessional and appalling. Nonetheless, that disappointment turned into a beautiful story at the end as one frantic email from me to Purple Easel (their preferred contact method for private events is via email) resulted in an immediate booking less than 24 hours later. They happened to have 1 opening for my date, at a better hour, so I was more than grateful that they could host my party under such short notice. In order to book a private kids party, you just have to pay a deposit for 10 kids to secure the slot, with the balance due by the conclusion of the event. Simple and easy! Purple Easel is located inside a quiet strip mall directly across from the Ontario Mills mall, facing the side where Dave and Buster's is located. The storefront is easily identifiable by their purple awnings. You can find most of the information on their website, but the party package is pretty straight forward: $30 per painter (includes all art supplies), 1.5 hours of total instructions, and 30 minutes for food/cake. Your guests would need to ensure timely arrival, as the instructions are led, your guests would get the most out of the experience if they were there from the beginning to the end. You are allowed 30 minutes before and after for setup and cleanup, but the staff was as accommodating and helpful as they can be so I had no issues throughout. They are very flexible with how you set up the room, as long as you aren't removing any paintings or nailing anything into walls. I personally found all the beautiful artwork on the walls served as really nice backdrop for photos. You are allowed to bring alcohol, any kind of food, even any small electronics or appliances you may need to plug in. We brought in a food warmer and hot dog roller for our party, and it was a hit. There's enough counter space for everything (cake, food, drinks, gifts, favors) and sinks in the room. I would recommend a kids party size of no more than 20 kids, as you want to leave enough table space in the room for eating plus for attending adults to stand/sit. I can imagine the room getting pretty tight if my entire party of 40 were present (I ended up with around 35 people). Since the theme of our party was Pokémon, we opted to paint something related to Pokémon. The studio already had a Pokémon painting titled "Pika-Boo", which was adorable and not overly challenging for kids (probably ideal for ages 9+; nonetheless the age range at my party was between 5-12 and we had all sorts of creative variations as the result). However, if you wanted something more customized, the studio is more than happy to work with you to come up with a painting for your event. In my case, that wasn't necessary. The kids were led by the hosting artist, Eden, in a classroom-like setting, and for the most part needed little to no assistance from parents. As a matter of fact, it was actually harder for parents to restrain themselves from taking over their kids' creations since we had a perfectionist bunch lol. Eden's pace was perfect, and she was mic'd with her step-by-step instructions projected onto a large screen. The kids had two mini breaks throughout to allow them to grab snacks while the canvases dried. One note of caution is to ensure the kids wear clothes that you wouldn't mind getting paint on. The paint does not come off skin or clothes easy, but aprons (kids and adult sizes) are supplied. All 18 kids completed their paintings within the allotted time, and we had just enough time to finish eating and do the cake cutting afterwards. I would highly recommend Purple Easel to anyone for a birthday party, or for any other private sip and paint events. The moms at my party were already discussing going back for a moms evening out, and one little guest even told me it's the BEST party she's ever been to. I think the validation and approval of a 5 year-old holds way more merit than my opinions. Therefore, thank you Purple Easel for the experience and memories! read more
