I went yesterday to the 7:00 class with 70 people and even with the most busiest class I have ever attended. Trinity was still able to be a big help with my needs. My husband and I drive from OC to have date night here at Purple Easel because we LOVE the whole experience. Our first time was in 2017 and we've come back every year since. We came earlier this year for the Bob Marley silhouette before the covid closures and we're glad they're able to open and operate now. Any other time I would give this place 5 stars. I gave it one for not enforcing Covid safety. I read the website and it said that masks were mandated unless eating. It also stated that there was mandated social distancing. I decided to do the in-person instead of the online option after reading the policy. When I got there I was told to find a spot anywhere. Most people came in with masks and then took them off the rest of the event, even the instructor. She never reminded the guests to wear masks unless they were eating or drinking. She encouraged everyone to walk around and look at other people's work. She did tell us to leave our aprons on our chairs when we were done because of Covid. The room next to us was filled with women. It looked like a birthday celebration. Not one person in that room wore a mask except for the instructor. Honestly, if a company chooses not to follow the state mandates, that's their choice. My only issue is if they claim to enforce rules and then don't follow them. In my opinion, this place is a super spreader. On my end, lesson learned. I will wait until Covid is over before doing an activity like this. read more

This was my first time attending a painting lesson at Purple Easel. The Mt. Fuji class that I signed up for was a two hour session with a short break in between. We were given a blank canvas, four colors of paint, and a blank palette to mix the colors on. Our instructor, Yoshi, was very personable and funny and provided quality instructions during the session. I had a wonderful time painting my own version of Mr. Fuji. I highly recommend attending a painting class at least once in your life. read more

I love this place! Always a great time and just a nice get away from everyday life. I come here often, but I took off a star because the bathroom is insanely dirty and gross. Another customer and I believe we saw hardened urine behind the toilets. There were toilet seat covers and toilet paper on the floor. The soap dispenser was empty. And the toilet had this pink rim around them that is gross. Please hire a deep cleaner for those bathrooms. I try to avoid going in them every time. Other than that, if you don't have to use the restroom, it's an amazing place! Note: There is no social distancing implemented. Our room was full. I suggest at least a chair or two between parties but nope, you'll be arm and arm next to someone. read more

Last night I partook in the paint your pet fundraiser . $68 was a little bit pricy for the experience, but the profits go to a good cause, so I'm in. It's my understanding that regular classes range from $25-45. I was impressed by the nice building, there was purple neon signage on the outside and purple vans parked in the parking lot. There was plenty of free parking . There are a couple large rooms where classes are held. There is also a nice gallery wall where the teaches have their bio and sample of artwork displayed. If you arrive 30 minutes before your class, this is the perfect amount of time to get your brushes and paint pallet situated . If you arrive on time there will be a line to get your paint and you may miss out on some painting time and instruction. The brush situation was disappointing. Many of the bristles were frayed, stiff with dried paint , and in need of replacement. I understand that these brushes get a lot of use but maybe an employee could make sure that each class cleans them adequately and replace the beat up ones. I recommend bringing your own brushes, but for a $68 class one shouldn't have to . The teacher was nice and helpful. She had four helpers circulating the classroom assisting those that wanted help. All the instructors seemed helpful and well qualified. I had a nice time painting my pug Sunny. The atmosphere was positive and they played good music in the background . I've been wanting to do something like this for almost a year now and finally signed up last month for my sister's birthday. I just had my sister look on the calendar online to see which painting she wanted to do and we ended up picking "Wild Flowers" which is a 2 hour class and $25 each person. (prices include tax). I booked the session for me, my sister, and my mom. When you turn onto Jack Benny Dr from Rochester, they are on your left hand side (north side) look for The Neighborhood Vineyard Church sign and you'll see the Purple Easel. Our class was on Saturday 9/5 at 1:00PM which was perfect as it gave my mom and sister time to eat lunch before our session. They tell you that you can arrive 30 minutes early which I recommend so you can pick your seats and sit together! Checking in was easy since I just had to state my name and they provided us with canvases. You are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. We brought cupcakes from Baked Dessert Bar to snack on. :D There were a few people who were late. Don't be late because they start right on time and your group will be split up. Overall, the class was fun and they gave us a 10 minute break in the middle. I thought the FIRST HALF of the class was a GOOD PACE, but the SECOND HALF felt a BIT RUSHED. People were getting up and getting more paint while our instructor kept emphasizing that we weren't going to use all the colors anymore. I started falling behind a bit and had to rush on my flower petals since our instructor wanted us to pay attention for the next step. My sister is deaf so I had to interpret what the instructor was saying to her too. At the very end, I went back and tried to touch up my petals again, but felt the class needed at least another 15 minutes (maybe we shouldn't have taken that break LOL). Even if it were 2 hours, it just went by too fast. The people we sat with were very friendly and we chatted with two friends painting together and another mother & daughter pair. We were also taking photos for each other. You can also buy frames for your painting there at the end for an additional cost. My sister said she had so much fun, she's already looking on their calendar to find another class to sign up for.
