My girlfriend hosted my bachelorette party and this place was our first event. And I absolutely loved it! I am no artist and not good at all and I must say the finished product (art) turned out nice! The girls working there were super nice! I highly recommend and I will be returning!!! They are accommodating and for us that are vaccinated it's very nice to be there in person. Staff artists do fantastic for those that prefer to stay at home as they offer the same attentive service, this goes for folks that are not vaccinated and uncomfortable that's a wonderful option. Had the best time at Purple Easel this past weekend!!! My Bestie planned a surprise private painting party with 10 of my gal pals to celebrate my upcoming birthday! I've always wanted to do something like this so I was so overjoyed that she was able to get all the girls together to surprise me! Anja was our instructor and she was Awesome! Eduardo was also helping us along the way with techniques. Our theme was "When Doves Cry" since I am a HUGE Prince fan so it was very fitting for the occasion. Do not worry if you have zero painting skills, Anja was great (and hilarious) with instructing us, step by step. The finished project came out looking better than I ever expected! I highly recommend doing something like this with your friends. Such a fun experience and even better that you get to bring your own adult beverages to sip on while you paint. Oh. My. GOD. We went last night and did Starry Night with Toya. She is sooo meant to do what she does. She's so cute and little and has a big personality that exudes customer service as a focal point. Let me say... this was NOT the painting for a novice. The first 2 hours were fine but that last hour was no joke. I wanted to give up... I hated life... but then Toya came along and helped me fix my horrific village. Anyway... we had a lot of fun. Everyone seemed in a great mood but also concentrating pretty hard on painting. Toya made jokes, sound affects, danced, had a contest, constantly complimented everyone's paintings, gave us plenty of breaks, played music the whole time (not so much my type of music BUT I'm not too sure trap and twerk music would really be a good fit!) The friend i went with likes it so much that I think she goes at least once a month. She was just there the night before we went! I think I might opt for an easier painting next time because I want to feel like in a master painter instead of a "wtf is happening?" painter... it's an ego thing... don't judge. I loved it. This is definitely my new place to go. As a side note, Matthew who is the owner is probably one of the most customer service oriented owners I have ever come across. Talk about above and beyond. He definitely understands that a happy customer = long term business and positive word of mouth and, besides that I think he's just a genuinely nice guy, I think he actually cares about what type of experience you have. Came to purple easel and after I was done painting my master piece I felt like I was the greatest painter of all time, it might have been because its BYOB; while I kept it classy with some red wine there were a few girls pre-partying with Taco Bell and vodka, my kind of ladies. So you have about 3 hours to paint, its nice because you also have 3 hours to drink. You choose in advance which painting you want to do and go on that date, I went with the class that was painting a swanking abstract wine bottles painting. I really like the instructors, they were very nice and helpful. Also I liked that if you needed more paint you could get it yourself. Make sure you get a good angle of the painting and the instructors painting, I was unfortunately not at the best angle, but my painting still came out great. read more

I have now been a total of 13 times and still absolutely love it. I have read a lot of complaints about instructors going too fast in parts and that "customer service is lacking" but what I find consistently with every class I have attended is that many of the folks are talking amongst themselves, or laughing, not listening and then the instructor is forced to keep repeating directions, colors we are mixing, what brush we should be using, etc., and I can understand how that would be pretty annoying. Yes, we are encouraged to have a good time and all but we (and they) do not have all day, these sessions do have a time limit. I would encourage anyone who wants to give painting a try to give it a go ! It is so worth it and you will take home something really nice when you are done. read more

I love Purple Easel! It is such a fun place to relax, paint and have fun. My husband and I come here every couple of months as it is a way to have fun and de-stress. There is definitely something therapeutic about painting. For me, it has overall calming effect and for those 2-3 hours, I forget everything else that is going on in my life as I am focused on creating my masterpiece. All the instructors and staff here are professional, fun, helpful and knowledgable. If at all during the class you have questions or need help, there is always another staff member walking around ready to assist. They now have a new location in Ontario and it is gorgeous! There is definitely a lot more room compared to there former Rancho Cucamonga location. The Ontario location is comprised of 2 studios, so they can have 2 different classes going on simultaneously. What is also very nice is now that have huge screens which project what the artist is doing, so even if you are in back of the class, you can still easily follow along. I recommend coming at least 30 minutes if you wish to have a closer seat to the front, but now it doesn't really matter as they now have those giant screens. You are allowed to bring food, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). If you wish to have your masterpiece framed it is $27 dollars and they will frame it for you. What else? Check out their monthly calendar as the classes they offer vary month to month. If there is something you see and really want to paint, I recommend reserving early as classes do fill up and sell out. I also recommend checking out Groupon periodically, as sometimes they offer deals like 2 paint for the price of one. The Groupon I purchased was only $48, and covered 2 people. Last, I would recommend getting their stamp card, if you paint 5 times, the 6th time is FREE! :) :) read more

The only kind of painting I can do is my fingernails so I was somewhat skeptical about being able to do a class here. But I will try anything once, and wine was involved, so if all else failed here, I could drink wine AND do my nails. Therefore, last Sunday my mom, sister, and I packed up our favorite bottles of vino and gave it a shot. The studio is very nice, spacious, and clean. They provide all the supplies (except wine/beverages) and great access to aprons, soap, water, and sinks in case you are clumsy or messy. We took our seats at the back of the classroom, which worked out fine because the instructor wore a microphone and used a large screen projector to demonstrate. I can't remember the name of our instructor, but he was very upbeat and explained the steps well. We drank our dranks and followed along the best we could, made a mistake here or there, shook it off here and there, laughed about it here and there, and the time flew! By the end of the class, we each had a rendition of the original painting "Hummingbirds." Some aspects more accurate than others (I ended up with pineapples instead of blossoms, and my sister's hummingbird morphed into a flying turtle.) It was also interesting to see OPP (Other People's Paintings.) Some were spot on and identical to the original and others more modern or avant garde. Some rebels even painted something completely different (or had too much to drink?) Overall, a pretty fun place. If you have never been, I recommend wearing clothes/shoes you don't care about, sippy cups with a lid, and trying to find a spot where you will not be sitting next to me or someone like me--I splattered paint everywhere, even inside my wine glass. Also would not recommend food for the same reasons, but they do allow it. read more

Went with my friend to "paint your pet nite". This was our first time doing something like this. It was pretty hard for us. It became frustrating when trying to get any assistance because there were only two instructors when I believe they usually have four (from what I was told). So if you needed help, you had to wait!! We ended up staying a half hour after the event was over to try and finish our paintings. Mine didn't quite turn out like I had hoped but I still love it. We would like to try it one more time! I believe tonight would have gone more smoothly if they had more instructors. I do have another dog to paint, so I'm willing to give it another shot for 5 stars. :) read more

They have 3 artists, and those artists take you from a blank canvas to a work of art in about 2-3 hours. The artists recreate their original artwork with you and you get to take it home! Purple Easel is a great date-night idea. My Fiance and I payed $50 total, and left with two really cool works of art and memories to last forever! Visit their website to look at what you will be painting when you get there on a certain day, and choose which you like best. They are so fun and really easy to do! The environment is friendly and easygoing, everyone wants to help everyone else. It's quite easy to get down on yourself about how something came out, but the artists that roam around will talk you through how to adjust it to your liking. For those of you that enjoy a alcoholic beverage here and there, why not bring it to Purple Easel? The painting seemingly gets easier as you drink more wine... who knew! (BYOB and Must be 21 to enjoy Alcoholic beverages). All in all, I can't wait to go back! We had our 1st Wine and Paint nite at this studio and we are so happy we did. It was a great experience. The instructor was a lot of fun and clear with her instructions. I wish I could remember her name!! And there was another instructor walking around helping as well. It feels a bit overwhelming at first if you have NO experience painting whatsoever but don't worry! It's a lot of fun and you can get creative with it! Fun night out with friends. We'll be coming back for sure! I did read somewhere that they did some sort of punchcard but we didn't get one so I can't confirm. We used a groupon, we each paid $20. Fair price. It includes the painting and the easel. I did wish the easel stands were cleaner. They are full of paint so I was scared of putting my easel on it but it was just chunks of dried up paint so I was fine. Overall fun experience though! I was unfortunately am not an artist or a confident person. I tried to ask for help from the instructor, once after I messed up the clouds, again with a question about the mountains, another about our tree trunks, again about the reflections and finally about the leaves. Each time the instructor came over she complimented the two unique paintings on either side of me and sped off. Still a fun activity with friends I just wish we had more than one person walking around. I loved that you could buy other paintings up front and will be back just to buy some more. A little background on me first: I graduated with my bachelor's in art and have experience painting. This was my first paint n sip class. Heads up: there's a Groupon for 2 (no 1 person deals) Pleased overall. Outside: The place is easy to find, the price is fair, and the parking is convenient. No cost for parking since it's a private lot owned by Purple Easel. Inside: Clean and spacious. Check in was fast. Paint brand is Nova, which is decent. Canvas size and quality is standard too. Music was fun and upbeat: a lot of Michael Jackson, some Bruno Mars, just popular sing-along tunes. Some people may sing along, so heads up on that. Bathrooms are clean. Water fountains near bathrooms if you forget to bring a drink. Cons: 1) Not much instruction as to where to sit or how to go about finding a seat, which would be helpful for first-timers, non-English speakers, and/or kids. 2) Paintings done by instructors are better than those I've seen at other paint places, but still quite amateur. I would like to take painting classes from more advanced instructors: students studying art in college would be ideal. 3) unclear video overhead (see photo I took) 4) can hear audio from next-door class Chose this place for the quality of the example paintings. I am not a painter by any means, but here, you are led by an instructor at the front of the class that gives you a step by step tutorial on how to paint the painting that you've chosen for the evening. They teach you how to use different brushes and also various blending and texture techniques. Each evening features a different painting so you can go online and choose which one you want to paint and reserve a spot. My friend had 4 gift certificates so it was definitely a treat. You can bring your own wine/drinks, and snacks and just relax and get your paint on. Would definitely come back next time! Starry Nights would be my next choice ;-) read more

Headed over for a paint night on NYE with a bottle of wine...I've seen tons of people everywhere posting up cool paintings they've done during a paint nite. I don't really consider myself artistically talented so I was a bit nervous about what my masterpiece would turn out to be like... We were welcomed by the instructor upon entering and were given cardboard pallets and another lady assisted in getting everyone their materials. The instructor provided good instructions and there was a second person who walked around and helped as needed. They were so kind! I kind of got into the painting that I pretty much forgot about the wine. Ha! The painting came out okay. I ended up swaying away from some of the instructions to do my own thing. All in all, fun night! They post what they'll be painting on their website. I suggest checking it out first to make sure it's something you'd like to take home with you. Also, wear short sleeves and clothes you don't care for too much. I got paint on my long sleeve and it doesn't come out completely. :( read more

I have gone to "paint your pet" twice, both times we had a great time. The 2nd time we went was last Friday, the instructor Tiffany was great, the helper on the floor Amber was amazing and so talented. The best part is my friends 12yr old daughter came with us, she painted her dog Lucy as a surprise for her dad, when she got home before she even gave it to her dad, she fell while holding the painting and it was damaged and the frame broke.
