My fiancee went in with one of her bridesmaids who lives in Walla Walla. When they were looking at the dresses for her one of the customer service representatives came over and explained that she would help but since we were from Seattle and would not be buying from them they wouldn't. And to think we would have probably ordered the one dress for the bridesmaid there . . . oh well. read more

When I went into the store to pick up tux, I could hear the girls in the back trash talking the bride. They were saying things like "She changed her mind so many times I don't even know what we're supposed to give him. I don't even know if she knows what she wants" They were very disorganized and what should have been a simple pickup ended up taking 30 minutes as they tried to figure out what to give me. On the day of the wedding, I put on the tux jacket only to find out that there was no button to close the jacket. The rest of the groomsmen had to leave their jackets unbuttoned so we all looked uniformed. After the wedding, I found the button in the jacket pocket. So the button was given to us but they hadn't thought to mention it or sew the button on themselves. When I went to fold the pocket square, it was extremely frayed and I took 10 minutes trying to figure out the best way to put in the pocket square without showing any frays at all. The groom's tie was frayed and several strings were just hanging off of the tie. When I took the rental shoes out of the bag, I discovered that the tops of the shoes were VERY scuffed and scratched and made the shoes look extremely dull. When I returned the tux, I had to wander around to find someone to help. She seemed incredibly helpful and said she would grab someone to help me. She then proceeded to yell quite loudly repeatedly for someone to come from the back rather than walking over to find someone. Eventually someone came out of the back and shouted "WHAT???" Not somewhere I would recommend to anyone looking for tux rentals or even dresses based on the way they talk loudly about their clients. read more

The first time I went into this store, I was not impressed, however the reason I went in is because a website for a specific designer had listed them as a local retailer, I went in because I wanted to see this designers products in person, they immediately informed me that they don't tell people who designs what dress to "protect their designers". Now this put me off a little but not completely, I saw a dress featured by the Purple Parasol at a bridal show locally, took a picture of it and called to make an appointment to try on this dress. Upon arriving by myself because all of my bridesmaids live out of state, I came armed with my camera to take a picture of me in the dress, the attendant informed me they do not allow pictures of any kind regardless of my situation, and she would not tell me who made the dress I tried on so my bridesmaids (sisters) could see it online to give me their opinion. The attendant then proceeded to tell me the store's "sob story" about why they don't tell people the designers or let them take pictures. She said it's because people go to other dress shops and order the same dress for cheaper....(setting off red flags to me) and how she had spent so much time with all these other people trying to help them find what dress they want without making any commission off of it. Now sadly, I did find "THE ONE" here at this store, and after I left without any pictures and misleading information regarding the dresses I liked, I set out on an internet search to see who makes them so I could have my sisters vote on which one they thought would be best on me, I WILL NOT BE BUYING MY DRESS FROM THIS STORE, not because I would prefer it cheaper, and I'm still not sure where I'll be buying it from, but because the store policies are horrible regarding pictures and information. ***A word of advice to the store-Maybe people buy dresses elsewhere because your store's policies are a turnoff for some people and the general atmosphere in the store is not inviting or comfortable for people trying on dresses for the most important day of their life. Can you at least get a complete curtain for the changing area? read more

I went here not too long after I got engaged to start getting ideas on dresses. Because I'd never really looked at wedding dresses. My bridesmaid came with me, upon entering the store we were immediately told that I could not try on anything because I didn't have an appointment, I wasn't honestly planning on trying dresses on that day but the way I was told this was quite rude and abrupt. Then when we explained that we just wanted to look the woman acted like we were children and told us not to touch anything! I was a little shocked since we were just standing and talking to her and yet to touch anything. We were then told that of we wanted to try dresses on we should try David's Bridal. I left and have not been back and David's bridal was extremely helpful and NICE and I bought my dress and more from them instead. read more

Avoid this shop at all costs. This is a one-star review because zero isn't an option. They were polite for my first visit and after that they were increasingly rude and indifferent until they sold my wedding dress to someone else without a phone call or letter. They claim they tried to call me as I'd missed payments, but they had my cell number and NEVER attempted to call me (no missed calls OR voicemail). Oh, and they refused to refund the $150 I had on it. When I brought my bridesmaids in by appointment they blew us off for a walk in. They are rude and condescending, and I will be writing to Alfred Angelo regarding the incident with my dress. I have had 3 disappointing appts here that continue to haunt me. I refer people away from the rude behavior of the owner. They seem nice enough until they get your money. The purple parasol has been around since I have been in high school 20 years ago and maybe more. That was the first time I went there. I purchased my prom dress there. At that time, they had the scent of mulberry that permiated the whole store including the gowns. I bought a pageant dress that was beautiful, but reaked of the mulberry scent. I asked them to have it dry cleaned and they refused to do it at their expense. This was after I had already bought it and it was supposed to have been new. I paid $350 at the time so you'd think that they would at least have the decency to afford that to me. I walked away with my dirty dress. 3 years later, I went looking for my wedding dress. Again, very nice and helpful. I liked a couple of dresses, however, I was really never helped with putting on the underskirts and got tangled in a few and had to call for help. I had an appointment, but they failed to tell me the time so I went over on their closing time. At that point they were rude to me. I wrote a check for a down payment to get the dress ordered. I told her that I wanted To bring my mom back to show her. I felt rushed and went home and immediately had buyers remorse. The lady said that she wouldn't cash my check until the following Friday (a little under a week later.) but when I called the next morning to tell her I decided not to order that dress after all, she gave me this sob story of how they helped me and serviced me even until after hours and she would go ahead and cash my check and I couldn't cancel the order after all. I was furious so I told her that I would cancel my check with my bank if she refused to give my check back. I did just that! Wow! Rude owner! She could've at least offered me to come back to see if I wanted to try on another dress. The 3rd disturbing occasion was when my friend and I bought dressed for a wedding we were in. The dresses had lace over satin and we were told that the seamstress could do the fittings. We took the dresses in to have them pinned after we had purchased them. We asked for them to be hemmed and taken in a bit. When we went back to pick them up, they were nowhere to be found. They said they had to be reordered. So I went out to my car frustrated while my friend waited inside to argue. She overheard them saying that the lady had not had time to do the adjustments and peeked inside the back room where the dresses were sitting with our names on them. She grabbed the dresses with pins still intact and told the owner nevermind, showed her the dresses and that she would never do business with them again, and walked out of the store with our already paid for dresses that still needed hemmed. How's that for service? Lying to your customers? Sheesh. Please don't go here. I really don't know how they've stayed open all these years. read more

It's a well known fact in the Tri-Cities that the service at Purple Parasol is awful. My daughter decided at the last minute to attend her Homecoming dance. The sales girl was super nice and found all kinds of dresses for my daughter to try on. We didn't find anything, but it was not as bad as I had heard. I wish they had a better selection of larger size dresses. The prices were pretty good. read more

My boyfriend was the best man in his brothers wedding this past weekend..we went to the purple parasol for the tux and my boyfriend also got shoes that he rented...the whole soles of the shoes fell off..not even that the tuxes that they got for the grooms men, three of them did have cuffs, two of them had pockets and the rest didnt, they had on completely different suits...and thats not what they wanted...anyways , long story short they would not give my boyfriend his deposit back because they're shoes that had been glued over, and over again fell apart, and they blamed it on him...i will never go back there again, they were horrible! read more

Ok so they do have a LARGE selection of bridesmaid dresses and special occasion dresses and it's probably the largest selection in the area. My cousin (the bride) went back after our traumatic experience to try on wedding dresses and she was VERY pleased with the service and selection. They suck! My bride to be has left there 3 times in tears after being treated like crap by the staff. They were rude to her and her wedding party and were told that the dress will not look good on her. She spent a 1000 bucks on a dress for that they should make it look how she wants. Plus when we got it home she found pin stitched in the seams. I used this store in 2006 and loved it. I Referred my friend who got in engaged last year and she found a dress she loved and bought it. Since then we have left the store with her in tears on two occasions. We got her dress home last night after having an horrible final fitting were the lady pretty much accused us of stealing a head piece, ripping it off her head and almost taking the clip-in hair extensions with it. Once we got it home we found a foot long tear in the underlining and numerous pins sewn in to the dress. I am mortified by the way they have treated us on numerous occasions and would not recommend this store to anyone. I went in with my two close friends to look for dresses for our senior prom. We only tried on about 6 dresses between the three of us. As we did one last walk through before we left, we were eyeing a spendy mermaid dress, just admiring the color. It wouldn't have fit any of us, we just thought it was beautiful. The older sales lady came up to us and said "you've had your fun, but you need to come back when you have your parents. This isn't a place to play dress up." I had every intention of buying a dress, without financial help from my parents. I found a dress I loved, but I'll be shopping for it elsewhere now. We were not rowdy, disrespectful or harmful to the merchandise in any way. We did nothing except try on a few dresses! I advise you to take your business elsewhere, especially if you're a young adult woman. read more

I bought all of my formal dresses for my high school dances at the Purple Parasol and I always received top notch customer service a great selection and quality dresses. Their prices are much more reasonable than anything I have found now that I have moved to the Westside. The Purple Parasol is a privately owned store (by three wonderful sisters) that the Tri Cities should be proud of. read more

You have got to be kidding me. I called ahead, scheduled an appointment for a specific dress, they took down the designer and confirmed the style number. Then they called me back to confirm I gave them the right phone number. So the weekend arrives and we drive 6 hours to get there (Yes, they knew), stayed in a hotel, and get there 45 minutes early for our appointment. They tell me there is another appointment ahead of mine and they will be with me soon. I decide to browse for the duration. At no point do they inform me there is any bit of a problem. Hold on, wait for it... they never had my dress. They showed no interest in even having the dress I requested, had no compassion for wasting my time and money and expected me to consider trying on other dresses there. There was no way!! The asinine sales person told me they had it at the other store but sold it.. which I might have believed had they not told me when I made the appointment (I had called Walla Walla to schedule it) that it was at the Kennewick store. There are tons of horror story warnings for such a tiny little store, heed them and avoid going there. Just don't go!! read more

ATTENTION: Mothers, Brides, Homecoming/Prom shoppers etc.-PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS STORE AND THEIR REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IT. I took my friend to the this store to try on wedding dresses and we had been all over Kennewick, WA looking for THE dress. This was the first trip for her to be trying on dresses and I really wanted to make it a positive experience for her. We had come to find that we were both "Mommy's to be" and she just 4 weeks behind me, but had found out some terrible news and they baby was not going to survive the rest of the pregnancy. So just a few months ago she had gone through a traumatic time in her life and the wedding was the perfect thing to keep her mind busy and herself going. Her wedding is a low budget wedding and would be in July so we really needed to work fast and get the dress out of the way first among other things as well. She is back down to her regular size bless her heart and we were very excited to be dress shopping. As we entered the store we were not greeted immediately and just mosied on towards the back where the wedding dresses were located. As soon as we reached the back 2 sales reps. came up to us and basically grilled us with questions not comforting at all and very kirt and short with us as we were not even able to finish a sentence. We had asked a question about the gowns since her budget was so low and with a quick and snappy response our mouths dropped to the floor as they said "OH I don't know of any store who does that! So and so store did that 20 years ago but they had stopped because of this....or that...blah blah blah". Why even put down another store let alone tell something they did 20 years ago? They could of at least just left it as a simple answer and say I am sorry we do not. Then they proceed in asking what my dear friend was looking for and all she could get out of her mouth was "Well I want something with a train". And zoom they were off selecting the most hideous of all dresses they didn't even let her finish her sentence and she couldn't even explain what style she wanted or the color theme of her wedding. Plus they were pulling 2 peice sets?hmm. I asked my friend "Are those the styles that you wanted or did you have something else in mind?" and we just looked at each other. While all the chaos she had spotted a very pretty gown with her colors included on it and had asked to try it on. The sales rep. was quick to say"Oh no that dress is really tiny". Once again my mouth it the floor but my friend insisted to try it on. So the lady say stomps over and firmly grabs the dress of the rack and says "Here go around that rack and try it on, I just know its going to fit" ha not even giving her a fitting room and at the same time adding such a rude comment. Then the lady walks away and I say " Do you need help zipping it up?" my friend expressed that she did and as was walking over- the lady jumps right in front of me and says "I've got it". I am 8 months pregnant at the time and that really peaved me because it was like we weren't aloud to touch their precious dresses and my friend couldn't even look through the racks herself. But wait the story gets better! So after the lady telling us the dress is tiny making my friend feel aweful, she comes out and it is an absolute perfect fit! It was just what she was looking for the price was perfect, the length, the color, EVERTHING! They then start jaming vales on her head with a comb and then rips them out of her hair. They were running around like there were 50 other customers when there were only she and I and another gal. It made us feel so rushed and then they didn't give her not 2 minutes in the mirror and said "Okay lets get you out of it". Before my friend could even step out of the dress the lady rips it off of her and just about runs away with it. I asked "Could you write down the dress's information so we can come back with her mother and purchase it?"(As this was the first day of our venture) She distinctly said " No it's a sale item and we do not even bother because the dress could be here today gone tomorrow". Wow that's nice it's not like we were going to wait a month to get it but okay. Then we were basically rushed out of the store we wanted to look at the mens vest and the lady says"You can only get it in this color, that color, and that color, okay- BYE GIRLS". And we were almost kicked out of the store. But come to find out she really wants to get that dress so we are going to go back today and give the store another shot but I am bringing my secret weapon, my fiance' he is an excellent shopper and he speaks his mind and is blunt, forward, and gets to the point.My advice to the store is they are lucky that we are considering on coming back and purchasing the dress although YOUR SERVICE NEEDS TO CHANGE! I needed a dress altered. I remember going to purple parasol years ago and getting okay service. I called to get information about alterations and the person that answered the phone was rude. They are going out of business and no longer do alterations, which okay that's fine but no need to be so short with possible customers. I have a shockingly similar story as to the rest of these. I purchased a bridesmaid dress from here(no choice, all the dresses came from this dump). I was told that alterations would not be a problem and came in 3 weeks before to get the dress pinned and fixed. After quite a delay, i came in a week before and none of the alterations were done! Zero, but yet they handed me the dress and acted like it had been altered. They were to put in bra cups and take in the dress... Nothing was done. After the owner got shitty, she said she would get it done and I came back in the day before the wedding.... Guess what, NOTHING WAS DONE! The owner was soooo rude and unprofessional it was shocking. She kept making rude comments under her breath and laughing. She finally very sloppily made the alterations (when I was standing there waiting in the dressing room) and the dress just fit awful and looked absolutely terrible. It is a joke this place even gets any business, but it is one of the only places to get dresses around here. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go to the Fashion Corner in Prosser. The customer service and terrible alterations here is just not worth the convenience! read more

My son's date for prom bought her dress here. They were supposed to repair the beaded bodice, press the ruffles out and fix the torn tulle. My sister ordered all of the dresses and tuxes for her wedding from this location because she wanted to support something local instead of a chain. It has been nothing but a nightmare and we all regret this decision. They lost cash payments from the bridesmaids, ordered the wrong size tux for the groom and then told him he was stupid for thinking his tux should be able to button. It has been nothing but stress, bad products, rude service, and surprise demands for more money. It has been a headache and a nightmare and they pushed the bride to the point of tears with their unprofessionalism, rudeness and refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes and their unwillingness to make amends for them. I have never had a bad experience with these women. I started buying my gowns there in spring 2004. Every time I go into the store, I always leave with the exact gown I need (which is wonderful because I'm in between plus and regular sizes). When I wear the gowns, I always receive compliments on how I look and how gorgeous the dresses are. I even wore one of my gowns when I sang for royalty in Europe last year. As for "rude" women, I have never been mistreated in any way. They were kind to me when I first went in with my mother looking for my first gown, and they are always willing to bend over backwards to help me. The women have kept the store open for me multiple times. A few years ago, I brought them a necklace I'd been given (that didn't match anything I owned), and the owners helped me find a great gown to go with it. When people say the ladies were rude/unhelpful, I have to wonder if there wasn't some sort of rudeness on the customers' part that led to them being "mistreated". Like I said earlier, I've bought my gowns there for years. I have over 10 gowns from this store. This is honestly one of the best stores nationwide. I've looked in bridal stores across the country and have yet to find a shop Iike it. read more

This lady that owns this shop treated my wife very poorly. My wife asked if a portion of the dress could be fixed and luckily the seamstress was there the same day and quickly said she fixed the problem. The only issue is that nothing was altered on the dress. So not only was my wife being flat lied to, little was being done to amend the situation. After, trying on one of the other dresses my wife came out to see how it looked. One of the employees brushed her arm on my wife's chest. She then repeated the same action. We bought the dress because tri-cities does not have many stores who carry nice dresses. We will never return to this place with no class and poor customer service. I will never forget how my wife was inappropriately touched by the employee. That type of action is not called for and never tolerated!! read more

This was supposed to be an amazing experience . I walked in and the young sales girl was fantastic we found the perfect dress. After that every one else was so negative. I felt rushed. At the first fitting the lady began pinning my dress to fit right without even asking me what I wanted. Then proceeded to tell me that's how all the girls wanted it and how every one gave her negative reviews. I felt like every thing I said was wrong and they knew better then me. Then because what bride isn't in a bit of la la land I may have forgotten that we discussed the bra being a bit more but in the three visits I was never charged for it until the end. Each visit was just full of negative comments about other customers. When I questioned the price at the end I was told that she had talked to the other lady about how I was not going to pay any ways for the bra. How I wasted her time trying on veils when I did not buy one. I'm sorry if you had a nice veil that looked good I would have bought it. Then she told me if I did not pay she would rip the sewn in bra out of my dress. My wedding was in three days. I will never step foot in this store again. The reason you have so many negative reviews is because you are negative and probably should not work in customer service. read more

HORRIBLE! My daughter's very expensive formal dress was not ready when we went to pick it up and almost wasn't ready for the dance. While we were taking pictures the clasp in the middle of the back that held the top on broke! She ended up going to Prom in a $300 dress held together with a safety pin. LOVE Purple Parasol! I went to the Walla Walla store and had the best experience!! I was feeling PRETTY DISHEARTENED after shopping at 2 other stores and having no luck. One of those stores was David's Bridal, and I have to say, I was blown away by the complete difference in the way they handle their brides. I don't know how the Kennewick store is, but the Walla Walla store is relatively small by bridal standards, I didn't think I'd have much luck, but I kept my appt. anyways. I loved how they drop everything and focus on their bride! I was so happy that I wasn't standing next to 5 other girls like at David's. It was a special moment. Rachel and Shirley were SO kind and helped me find my perfect dress (I am very picky!) for a considerable amount under my budget. So excited and relieved to be working with them! Don't waste your time at this business! They made promises they would perform 4 separate alterations to the brides dress. They asked us to come in on a specific date of their choosing and when we arrived the wedding dress was not even in the building. They had to find it and have it brought to their address at 22 W. Kennewick avenue. When it arrived, one of the four alterations they said they would do had been performed. They hemmed the dress. The other three (cutting sleeves and hemming them, shortening the straps over the shoulder and cutting and creating additional room under the armpit) had not been performed. They took the dress back and said they would have it ready for our second fitting. When we arrived the second time, the sleeves had been cut and hemmed, but the dress still didn't fit. They claimed they did not agree to the other alterations! They said that AFTER the final alteration was done, they would clean the dress and ready it for the wedding day. They cleaned it after the first fitting and wouldn't allow the bride to leave the dressing room because the dress would get dirty. They said that alterations to the bodice of the dress were free and hemming was an additional charge. THAT seems backwards since almost every dress needs to be hemmed. In addition, they never refunded the grooms tux deposit. After a phone call, they claimed they didn't have time to do it today and went on and on about the process. If they would have hung up and looked for the return, went through and processed the credit it would have been done. We even suggested that rather than listen to her blather on and on about how some people trust them with a credit card and other's don't. They claimed they didn't have credit card numbers lying around and later in the conversation said that some customers trust them with their number, so they write it down. That's not a safe place to leave your credit card information! At this point, we're still waiting to see if the $20 shows up. I sort of doubt that it will. They seemed very unorganized, have a short memory or what they "said" they would do versus what they actually did. This was all witnessed by the bride, bride's sister and mother. All of them heard the conversations and were present for all three visits to the shop. As a result, we took the dress home and did the alterations ourselves since leaving it at that point did not give us a warm fuzzy feeling and the last visit they tried to convince us that it fit perfectly. It didn't. Also they sewed industrial velcro into the shoulder straps (that weren't shortened) instead of a snap to hold the bra strap in. They had to sew the velcro on the bra strap as well and if you saw the amount and type used you would laugh. It was bulky and uncomfortable and seemed like a junior high solution I've NEVER seen velcro in that style or size. if I could upload a picture, you'd see how awful their solution was. WORST customer service experience and will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER walk into that store again. To make a long review short, I asked a very rude snobby Caucasian girl if the dress that was on a manikin was available in the store so I can try on in a fitting room. Her reply was, "No, this is the only one we have and it's a 500 DOLLAR dress...." She proceeded to look me up and down and say, "Besides, it's a size 10 and runs small".....................1) the dress was actually 399.99- I had already checked the size and price tag.. I wouldn't have asked to try it on if I knew I couldn't afford...... 2) My size is an 8 on formal dresses....so this "size 10 that ran small" would've actually been perfect..... This "sales rep" not only determined for me that the price was an issue, but also decided to determine for me that the dress wouldn't fit. Talk about a JOKE. As I shared this story with the ladies that I work with in my department, they also had their own stories to share of their bad experience at this awful place. My only regret was not looking at the reviews already online to have saved my time of walking into that store and go through the experience that I did. However, there is a positive to the story-- this snobby rude girl left us no other option but to leave the store... we drove up Kennewick Avenue and found a nice gorgeous boutique shop called **AMY'S BRIDAL BOUTIQUE** AMAZING customer service and very classy beautiful dresses. If the rude snobby Caucasian sales rep only knew how much we ended up purchasing at this other location...... well over "500 dollars". Owner of the Purple Parasol should really reconsider the garbage sales rep she hires. Literally making hundreds and hundreds of dollars walk out of the store due to the DISGUSTING customer service. read more

Everyone, including the bride had difficulties with the owners horrible attitude & getting alterations done. I went to every appt. just to be told my dress wasn't ready to try on. The bride however was being told I wasn't showing up for my appts. We went over the changes to be made & she continually told us that wasn't what we asked for. (The bride knew what she wanted.) I finally got my dress 2 days before the wedding & was charged a ridiculous amount for alterations...that weren't done! The owner refused to do a anything else to the dress, hemming it would have been nice, I was charged $50.00 for the hem alone...I left with a floor length dress & no refund. I had to take it to an alteration shop to have it fixed. This place has no personality, no work ethic, the way we were cussed at was ridiculous(I kept my composure throughout this ordeal)...I was charged for things I didn't get & was just treated badly. I will never give this place another dime!! If you are a small business owner, I recommend you treat your clientele with some sort of decency, not how these women treated us! read more

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. I called twice during business hours to schedule an appointment and got voice mail. While in the area, I stepped in to schedule an appointment, thinking I could look at dresses and have an idea of what to try on when I came back for my appointment. I had my ten month old son with me, and was told abruptly that I could not even go into the room with the wedding dresses. Mind you, my son was strapped into his stroller and the dresses were all in plastic garment bags! I would understand not wanting a toddler to run through the store, but my son cannot even walk yet. The lady at the counter was rather snooty about the whole thing, and I walked out. Other local vendors like David's Bridal and Amy's Bridal Boutique not only invited me to look at dresses, but, because my son was so well behaved, insisted I stay and try dresses on. Perhaps if Purple Parasol hired someone to answer their phones, I would not have wasted my or the proprietor's time. read more
