Dina who took over to assist me was very helpful in selecting all the purple flowers that would bloom all year round. Their selection is huge and so much better than Lowe's in every way. What a beautiful family friendly garden, farm, nursery, and event space!…read more I just came here tonight for the first time, driving 45 minutes from Wilmington to attend their special class of picking wheat and then making homemade pizzas with that wheat. Check out their Instagram page and website for more details. Oh my gosh, this was the most fun experience. I am so glad that I did this! For such a cheap and affordable price of only $45, the ticket included a beautiful walk-through of the family Gardens, information about their gardens, upcoming events, and plants and flowers and more. We took a tractor ride out to the fields where we got to pick our own wheat. We then went through the process of turning it into flour by hand. Using the fresh flour that we made from our wheat, we then created our own pizza ms using the word-fired a 900° brick oven on site. This is such a great event for the whole family. In my class, there were kids as young as three years old and adults as old as 70s and 80s. You can attend alone, with a date, with your sibling, with your grandparents... The options are endless! This is friendly for everybody. Bottled water, sparkling water, beer, and wine available on site. They also kindly offered free cookies for dessert. And the place was decorated so beautifully with sparkling lights. They really worked hard to make this place special! I really enjoyed listening to the owner of the farm and nursery as well as meeting the rest of his family who helps with some of the pizza baking process. It poured down rain while I was there, but that made it even more fun and also funny. This place has a lot of events throughout the year and I will definitely be back. If you haven't been here, you certainly should. And think about becoming a member too!

Late in the season I had to call around to local nurseries in Brunswick County to try and find native milkweed for some hungry monarch caterpillars as they had eaten mine down to the stalk. Shelton Herb Farm had some available but not enough to feed the eating machines that are the monarch cats. Their solution....bring the caterpillars I had to their farm and let them free feed in their milkweed field. This was the kindest offer and literally a life saver. Such thoughtful customer service and so appreciated. Shelton Herb Farm is a charming nursery with a variety of herbs, native plants and garden tchotchkes. PP is a long standing business in Wilmington and to post personal negative comments on the owners astonishes me. And to critique inventory and find rudeness is just too much as well. Long time customers will tell you that PP has been working hard and giving hard for a very long time. The staff are professional and gracious. Personal, knowledgeable help is always waiting. PP provides both small and large (companies) with the healthy abundant plants and extras that have been relied upon for decades. Extensive grounds and wandering paths, healthy indoor and outdoor plants seasonally. Seasonal touches that are always a treat and never ever rudeness. Never. The many years I have been here I've seen their reputation and enjoyed their establishment. On a personal & positive note I know that the business contributes greatly to our community. There may not be fanfare and billboards but many good things transpire in PP and the giving overflows to those around them.
