Decided to come for the Prime rib special on Friday. Ordered it med rare and received it well done and super tough. Sent it back and got another one just as well done and tough. At that point we were going to leave but the chef said he had another one for us. The third one was more medium and at least edible though prime ribs are supposed to be rare or med rare. Felt really bad but couldn't pay for something that was terrible. Potatoes were under seasoned but the mixed veggies were the best and well seasoned. I don't think we will come back. It's a shame as it's so close to our house. Waitress left a lot to be desired. Never once apologized but felt we were being difficult. The waitress checked on us once during the time we waited. The owner was present and not once stopped by to offer any apologies or explanation for the irregularities. Incredible food. Everyone in our group loved the food. I got the BBQ Bacon burger. The bacon jam on it was incredible and tied the meal together so every bite left your mouth begging for more. That isn't saying anything about the cheese curd side. Its very hard to find good cheese curd here. So when I bit into them and got that greasey cheese goodness I am happy to say the best cheese curd I've had in Colorado. I have been going to the purple toad since opening day. All of the sudden you can no longer have your kids (15 this year) with if the kitchen closes. No notice just a very abrupt comment of you need to leave. Asked when this changed and was told 9 months. Flat out lie. Dogs are welcome but no kids after the kitchen closes. We had a couple of real negative experiences here in the past. The restaurant has new ownership from what I've read. Previous reviews really knocked them for horrible service but we decided to give them another chance. Went during happy hour and there wasn't a menu telling what specials they had with prices. Our server was new and didn't have any answers but dug up all the specials and prices. The service ended being absolutely amazing. This new server was on her "A" game for our entire visit. I'm only giving 3 stars because the food was 3 stars. FYI We had cheese curds and fried mushroom for happy hour and then had the French dip with tater tots. Lacks Consistency. Have visited the Toad on numerous occasions it has never been the same. There are times that we are wow'd by great food and customer service, but most of the time its the opposite. Recently a member in our party found not 1 hair, but 2 hairs on her flatbread. We asked to speak to a manager and was given 2 options....eat it or order something else. When the sandwiches arrived they were cold, the tatter tots were over salted and Jennifer the waitress was more interested in chatting up the 5 or 6 people at the bar. I'm not sure why there aren't more excellent reviews! My two girlfriends and I met there this past weekend and tried many dishes across the board. We ordered and all split a burger, the turkey club, pretzel bites, artichoke dip and the toad eggs. EVERYTHING was SUPER yummy! Our server was way nice and attentive. Kept our glasses full and checked on us often. It's a bit pricey, but truly - what isn't these days? It's a little loud, but it's a true sports bar (which we didn't realize), so that was on us. But not so loud that it was uncomfortable. They also have some dart boards and many TV's for fun times. I would recommend. Then they asked as we had are card out to pay if are food was good well the fact that we still had are food on are plates and we are not eating it might give you a clue. So then the owner came over to are table to say he was sorry that we were pushed out so fast that we were not to have been seated here it was reserved for leagues. But we should not have been treated like we didn't matter. And he said next time we come in just ask for him and he will make sure we are taken care of for the inconvenience. So we thought ok we will give them one more try. ..... So this is are second visit. I brought my mom here because she loves frogs and the big purple frog statue was the deciding factor to come back here again. To come back was the first mistake. The second mistake was it took twenty minutes to get appetizers, then an hour later we still didn't get are food !!!! It was ordered at the same time...... the waitress came by and mumbled something about the backup in the kitchen and it would be right out. Their was not that mini people; maybe 10 people when we walked in. No reason for the delay or back up in the kitchen. So 1 1/2 hours have come and passed. If we could have got somebody's attention we would have canceled our order and left!!!! My mom ordered the chicken wrap, my husband ordered the mushroom burger, I ordered the calamari. My moms chicken was raw , my husbands burger was not done how he asked for it and fries tasted like old burnt grease. And my calamari was raw; well needlessly to say we all lost are appetites! And told them that we would never come back. The hostess came by our table and asked what they could do to get us to come back , and we said nothing and she said I'm sorry you came in our restaurant in our early time ..... what is that supposed to mean, is that an excuse for crappy service crappy food that could literally make you sick, and potentially kill you with salmonella or E coli !!!!! My experience was horrible at this restaurant, and my partners was really bad. I ordered the New York strip medium, and it came out well done. I sent it back and it came back bloody. They apparently have no clue how to cook a steak. And the sides were sorry. My friend got chops that had a really funky flavor, mashed potatoes were just that, no flavor and dry. The green beans were burnt and flavorless. If salt and pepper would have been offered may have helped. Didn't have the beer that was advertised, nothing was right. And after waiting for several minutes for the manager to come over and never did, we paid the bill and left! Don't waste your time or money on A bad food choice. I'm sure they want to stay in business, but unless they change things no one with taste buds will ever frequent there again. I finally got to eat when I got Wendy's on the way home!!!!!! read more

Great bar with tons of options. We tried the pour it yourself where we purchased a card and added money to the card. Then we were able to pour ourselves beer to the amount that we wanted. Some were unavailable but the concept was neat and we all enjoyed trying something new. read more

Came here today for the first time. Waited an hour for our food, at 11:45 ish on a Friday. I orders the slopper and it came out almost raw in the center and cold. I sent it back, they microwaved it.. brought it back out and no better, still not even microwave warm... so I'm actually not even sure they did anything aside dump more green chile on it. Manager came over took it away and said I will remove from your bill.. so there I sat.. no lunch, no offer of anything else and still a bill for just under $40..and I have to get lunch elsewhere. We are local and have tried this place five times hoping for a better experience but tonight was the final straw! In the past we have dealt with poor service, messed up ordered, stale chips and wrong charges on our receipt, however we took our out of town in-laws there and have never been more embarrassed!! We came in right behind a group of 5 and then there was a group of 10 behind us. We had to ask for menus, ask for someone to get our drinks while the 3 waitresses and the man ( who I believe was the manager on duty) standing at their computer talking, eating and putting gun in their mouth. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and then I had to ask another waitress to please take our food order because the other girl never came back. After waiting 45 min with no one checking on us, or asking for a refill and had to go get a waitress and ask her where our food was. The table of 10 who came in after us already had their food and was eating and the group of 5 that came in 2 minutes before us already had their food, ate it and was paying and we had nothing!! After another 30 min of waiting and no food I told her to cancel the order and we were leaving.. Her response was "you still have to pay for your drinks." FIRST: I had ever intention of paying for our drinks, that were absolutely horrible!! SECOND: If you or your management team cared half as much about your customers as you do gossiping and eating when your on the floor to work this post would not have been written!! I've been a waitress for 8 years and I get how hard a rush can be, BUT YOU STILL NEED TO HAVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Neither the manager nor the waitress even apologized. My wife's group had a horrible experience here. The waitress didn't know which beers were on tap because she "doesn't like beer." I've served tables at a few restaurants with menu items I'm not fond of but still learned the menu for my customers because that's the job. Not only was the service incredibly slow in an almost empty restaurant; a blue moon came with a rotten orange, a 20 oz miller lite was ordered before the waitress came back to inform them that "it wasn't on tap but she's already opened a bottle" and then balked at the fact that it they wanted a different beer, someone with a dairy allergy ordered a plain burger and was provided a cheeseburger and then was told that the "kitchen messed up and made another cheeseburger" (yeah right, it's the kitchen's fault) before telling the waitress she didn't want anything. The waitress came back with an almost raw burger and said "the kitchen says I have to bring this you can either eat it or not" and then charged her for the burger and a side she didn't order even though she didn't eat the burger that she said she didn't want. People were charged for beers they didn't order. When the waitress was asked to refill waters she pushed them all together to pick them up and then put them down to rearrange them because she "didn't want to forget whose was whose" because she's never heard of germs apparently. The TV was too loud to hold a conversation in an empty bar. It was a bad experience for a group that only gets together once in a while and spent money for a terrible experience they will not repeat. The one other time I've been there I had a pretty mediocre experience and I only had beer, so maybe avoid this spot and go to one of the other businesses in Falcon until they get their business together. read more

I give them 2 stars because the environment is cool. The service started off pretty poorly. A waitress came by in the first 5 minutes and said someone would be by. After 15 minutes the same person came by and said, "well, it doesn't look like anyone else is coming so I guess I'm your waitress." My buddy ordered a burger-medium. It came out well done. I ordered the philly cheesesteak flatbread. Horrible. I told the manager that it looked and tasted like the cook poured a bunch of A-1 sauce on a flatbread and sprinkled some meat and cheese on top. She agreed that it looked awful and took it off the bill. Another buddy of mine was there later the same night and his pizza came out with a burnt crust.
