Slightly weird set up, with making us basically climbing up the hill in the backyard of a house. In we walked in and met Claire. We never really got the answer to our only question, about the lavender, but she pointed out that we walked through the "field" of lavender bushes, aka about twenty of them, but they were not in season. Having learned she just opened less than a month prior, there was still some clinks to work out. Her shop was a bit of a mix of a few things. First there was a case of chocolates. Next to that there was a few keurigs that was the coffee and tea the shop offered. On the other side there was a mix of little NYC-ish shop nick-nacks. So we tried out her candy, said to be shipped in from NYC. We got 6 pieces, and the flavors sounded good. After leaving, we tried them out, and not really blown away. Just ordinary, gourmet chocolate. Still intrigued by what this lavender farm actually offers though.

Sausage Gravy, Egg & Cheddar Pie (Recommend ) Filled with chicken sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and white cheddar wrapped in an incredibly flaky, buttery pastry crust. The crust had a rich buttery flavor without feeling greasy, and the savory filling made every bite so comforting. Mushroom Pie (Recommend ) Packed with sautéed mushrooms and served with a green sauce on the side. Honestly, I didn't even need the sauce because the pie was already flavorful on its own. They have a lot of Finger Lakes themed gifts, Keuka Lake items, and some Seneca Farms merchandise. We talked to the woman behind the counter for a bit, and she was very nice and helpful in telling us a bit about the store, Seneca Farms, and what the next stop should be in our day trip. I bought a nice blue finger lake shirt and a Finger Lakes magnet.

She came back out from the front and asked again if I needed anything. So, I got a blueberry muffin. I LOVE blueberry muffins, but I never buy them anymore bc I no longer eat most things like that. I test cakes from many bakeries and compare the taste and texture…read more I am not as concerned with decoration or presentation, although an attractive cake is nice to have. It is very unfortunate that the old ethnic bakeries have gone away and replaced primarily by grocery stores. It appears that the children of the old ethnic bakeries saw how hard their parents worked and decided to become doctors and lawyers and such. The delicious cakes of our long ago memories are gone. I visit a lot of new bakeries trying to relive my past memories. It appears that most of these new bakeries utilize standard cake mixes available from a variety of sources. They may add an ingredient of two to try to make it taste more homemade, but they all fail my taste and texture tests. Most are light and fluffy cake with average icing. They do look good however, but that is not what I look for. I look for taste and texture. I was very pleasantly surprised with our recent visit to Sweet Solutions on Main Street in Canandaigua. I ordered two large cakes for a corporate event. One was Vanilla/Vanilla and the other was Triple Chocolate. WOW ! Both cakes were exceptional in both taste and texture. They looked great too. Both cakes were devoured by the 45 people in attendance. Sweet Solutions mentioned that each cake would serve about 40 people. They must serve small slices. Our guests had two and three helpings apiece. Everyone raved on how great the cakes were. I personally had three pieces (large by the way) and would have had more the next day if any were available. The visit to Sweet Solutions took me back to the 60's and 70's when Shreck's and Vecchi's bakeries in Canandaigua when I was a child. Both were exceptional bakeries that were local institutions. There are a few bakeries in Rochester, NY who make some nice cakes but they are not as good as Sweet Solutions in Canandaigua, NY. My wife is ordering another today ! I am overjoyed to finally find a bakery that can meet my high standards. I can honestly say that Sweet Solutions is the best in the greater Rochester area. Thanks for reading.
