See my review of the sister restaurant "next door" we went to two days earlier…read moreYea, it is worth the hype. For what you are getting coming out of the US this is a deal. Great atmosphere, perfect service, waiter did great job staring me To a local Merlot that was fantastic, musty, slightly tannic, 1100 crowns. I had braised rabbit in a mustard cream sauce, wife had braised veal cheeks which apparently on of the most popular. Beef tartar for app which perfect French bread toast. 3500 crowns all in, was way more than worth it. You need to make reservations in advance. We had to work to get in at 8:30 three days before- and we went on a Monday night. Chef apparently has a local CZ show which makes him celebrity. Strongly recommend

The space itself is grand and beautiful, but the experience went downhill immediately. The hostess seemed to wield all the power in the room--no smile, barely any eye contact, just a curt and judgmental "no reservation." The restaurant was far from full. She then added, "I only have a side table for you," as if that were some sort of compromise. We accepted. At first glance, the waiters looked well presented, but with a bit more observation, the illusion faded. Some had sagging pants, untucked shirts, and most concerning, repeatedly inappropriate hand placement while on the floor. It happened more than once, which was uncomfortable and distracting (see photo). Overall, the place feels very pretentious without delivering on substance. The food wasn't anything special, and the desserts were average at best and certainly not worth the hype or the attitude. I wouldn't recommend Cafe Imperial to friends, especially if you're expecting a warm welcome or standout desserts.

I'm gluten free and he explained what I could have and what I couldn't. I began coughing a bit and he asked if he could give me some ginger. He made me ginger on warm water. It worked and was very kind. I had rib-eye with spinach and chimichurri sauce. It was pretty good and a decent size steak. My husband ordered the pork chop with French fries. It was delicious. This place is really nice and so are the people. The food was very good and reasonable. Too bad I live in the USA!

CAUTION HOWEVER, The dish portion was the size of a small Fiat 500 will fill your porcine dietary requirements for the year. Nothing spectacular and unusual, just good old Czech comfort food that had nicely crispy crust on the outside and just the right amount fat to make this eating and personal carvery event just right. The meat beyond the crust was moist and flavorful just this side of succulent. A house specialty I totally recommend this authentically Czech dish with High Points for them... A most amazing restaurant with impeccable service, fantastic & delicious food…read more We had an amazing breakfast for four and loved everything which is quite unusual as we are picky eaters. Everything was done well served well and priced well considering it's in a tourist area without the touristy feel you would find elsewhere. They must go to place for breakfast lunch and even dinner. Loved their seasonal specialties, which happened to be asparagus season.

Café Louvre - Prague ( 8 to 23.30 )…read more We visited Café Louvre on a Saturday around noon, and although the line was long, it moved surprisingly fast. The staff is clearly very well organized and efficient. Service was quick, attentive, and professional. The waiters were elegantly dressed, which added to the classic, old-world charm of the place. We also got lucky and were seated by the window, which made the experience even more special. The food was absolutely outstanding -- truly one of those meals that makes every cell in your body feel happy. Everything was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and comforting, yet refined. You can tell this is a place that takes pride in doing things right. Yes, it's popular and a bit touristy -- but for a very good reason. Café Louvre lives up to its reputation, combining history, atmosphere, and excellent food with smooth, professional service. We highly recommend checking this place out when visiting Prague. It's a classic for a reason.
