Good: -I'm not sure if all QFCs are 24 hours but it's nice that this one is, especially in such a busy part of the city at night. -For a grocery store, it has an amazing beer and wine section upstairs, better than many liquor stores I have seen. -Decent produce section. -Very accessible. The 49 stops right in front of the store (as do the 9 and the 60), and the 8 and 43 are just blocks away. Bad: -As some have said, the tall bagger named Brandon is horrible and should be avoided at all costs; ideally, he should have been fired long ago. -I also often feel uneasy entering/exiting the store with some of the people who are allowed to stand outside the door; not because they are homeless, but because they seem to be addicts, schizophrenics, and often harassing/verbally abusive. It doesn't feels safe at all, sometimes. -They do seem to charge more for basic foods than other groceries; $6.50 for Sabra hummus, really? -I wish there were more cashiers instead of trying so hard to get people to use the self checkout machines. review for the deli/bakery I do my shopping on Wednesdays. On 3 of the past 4 weeks I went to the store to get my regular groceries AND to get fish sandwiches (because of Lent), which are ADVERTISED for $1.99. They did not have them. ("We're not serving them today.")-----huh? Last week, on the eve of St. Patrick's Day, I went here to buy some ADVERTISED Irish soda bread. They had none at this QFC and none was to be had at the other QFC on Broadway. The warehouse failed to send the bread on the previous Saturday. No signage saying, e.g., "Sorry ....due to warehouse problems we do not have this product." Again, "We don't care!" Further, if you are buying shrimp from the seafood department, make sure you count the number of shrimp you are getting per pound. Last week, they advertised 16/25 (shrimps per pound) for $10.99/lb. An 8 ounce tray had at least 18 shrimps, or 36 shrimp per pound!! QFC is just a crappy Kroger with a fancy name. Buyer Beware!! There used to be action on this sort of thing by the Federal Trade Commission. Just ask A&P. I have reported the shrimp matter to the Seattle Weights & Measures program. That was a week ago. Please keep in mind that his review is not for the store, but for the pharmacy. The store itself is lovely and I've never had a problem with it. However, the pharmacy is downright terrible. I hardly ever get my prescriptions refilled without a problem of some sort. They have made me go weeks without medications because of problems they have contacting my doctor (which has never been a problem elsewhere). They also have a ton of restocking issues that again force you to go without. The staff can be friendly and helpful enough but the issues with procuring medications have caused me significant medical problems. Also, if you accidentally leave prescriptions in your basket, which is an easy thing to do with the self checkout because you cannot add extra weight to a bag without the machines freaking out, they will not attempt to contact you and they will lock the meds back in the pharmacy. When you go to retrieve them, they will have already put them back. Insurance will not reissue prescriptions so soon after they've been refilled so it forces you to pay for them out of pocket which can be hundreds of dollars. I've been getting my prescriptions from a different QFC location since 2000 and have never had a problem, but I've experienced nothing but problems from this location. It's forced me to seriously consider moving all of my ten plus prescriptions to another pharmacy chain which is a hassle. The hours are also rather sporadic. If you're thinking of moving your prescriptions here, I urge you not to. It simply isn't fair for them to gamble with patients already significant health problems. read more

So, there are a number of quality aspects about this QFC; however, several detractors make shopping there annoying. The main detractor is the snotty people overseeing the self checkout stands. I had one today that told me that I should have gone through the main check out stand run by a QFC checker, and acted as if I was attempting to steal something. She was looming over me and my fiance constantly. Really!?!?!?!? We shop here almost daily! Today, we spent over $150! Yet, they want to act as if we are doing something shady. We sure don't look like vagrants or anyone shady. I guess spending money at this QFC raises suspicion or something stupid like that. At least make an attempt to act professional. We are becoming more and more disappointed with the lack of quality customer service at this location. We may just skip the convenience of this location and avoid spending another dollar. So disappointed. Ignore my previous post about this place. Clearly, the management could care less about customer service these days. read more

I come to this qfc 3-4 times a week. It has everything I need. Yesterday (3/14), I was having a chocolate craving and I knew their little bakery section would do the trick, until I saw that my favorite (mocha lovers colossal cupcake) was missing! Immediately the gentleman working in this section popped right up and asked what I was looking for. I told him what I wanted and he very happily ran back to the freezer to pull one of the cupcakes out for me. It really made my day. He truly seemed like his only mission was to make his customers happy. So unheard of in grocery store etiquette. Thank you so much! And of course, I'll be back for more. read more

I am mostly satisfied with the service I get here, except for one cashier, a Creature who hates people. I will not get in his line. I avoid making eye contact with him. He yelled at me once for having 17 items in the 15 item line or less, and kicked my basket a few times when I left it on the ground to get something, wandering down that aisle ''by accident'' to bother me. Creepy. He as that 'I am gong to get you' vibe, so I try to avoid him as much as possible. I attribute the fact that he has worked there more than 20 years to a strong union backing him. So I guess (sigh) that is a good thing. A local free hippie paper that I won't name once had a column about him being the slowest cashier there Besides that, my main gripe is the high price of veggie dogs - about $2 a package more than in other places, the Beer flavored veggie brats - and the fact you can never, ever ever find a ripe avocado there, or much local produce. It all comes from California, though Washington state has good truck gardens. And the bathroom is locked till 9 am, so if you are an early riser, you have to hold it (and it is on another floor, anyway, and you have to beg for the door code). All the clerks are brilliant, funny, both men and women. I think they have a very tough job, and get 'hated' on by the public too much. Besides that one Creature who hates, hates, hates people, the rest of the staff are angels who work very hard, they know their stuff. . One of them got me to try dark chocolate with ginger in it, now I have a $8 dollar a week habit. read more

Warning: Do not bring your own beans back to grind. Their loss prevention stalker will see you put the bag of coffee back into your purse afterwards (because it's yours and you purchased it at a previous time) and then proceed to follow you incredibly closely and obviously around the entire store. She won't ask to see a receipt, or speak to you like a normal human being. No, that's too polite. Instead, she'll use her super-detective skills like staring blankly and vacantly at you as you pause to try and decide what other ingredients you need for your vegetarian chili. But, you won't be able to decide because a strange woman is staring intensely at your shoes for some unknown reason and its making you sweat. And then your heart will race, because of her vacant stares, and unprofessional dress. And then you'll really believe you ARE being stalked by a crazy person who might even follow you home. You'll think this is because you are a young woman alone, and you've seen movies and this is Capitol Hill after all, stranger things have happened. I'm really sad to have to write this, because I assume that loss prevention was simply trying to do their job, but oh what a bungled job they did. I've been happily shopping at this QFC for the 2 years I have lived in this neighborhood. I bring my students to the upstairs table area to tutor. All of the cashiers faces are familiar to me, I assume so is mine to them! I even hug one of the managers, who always asks about my day. That's how good we were, QFC. But, today you made me feel awful. You made me feel like a thief. And while times are actually a little tough right now. Money is tight, for sure. I can say with 100% confidence that I have never stolen a thing from you. My husband bought the bag of coffee from the store earlier in the week. But, lo and behold- accidentally purchased whole beans instead of the grinds. We haven't had our morning coffee in two days because of this. I came in today to simply grind them up and buy a few things for dinner. However, instead I left with half the groceries I actually wanted and a really unpleasant/shaken up feeling. I finally realized what was probably happening as I went upstairs to check out. I didn't say anything though, hoping things would resume normalcy upon check out, and plus I hadn't actually done anything WRONG, so what did I need to say? Upon checking-out, the typically bubbly cashier, acted oddly stiff towards me, probably because she, too, had been alerted of my "thievery." She asked if I had found everything on my list. I simply smiled and said I had. She then went back to her work. But, of course my new friend was there to see me out. As I grabbed my receipt to leave, she finally said, "Are you serious?" And I said, "Excuse me?" She then went on to say that she had seen me put the coffee beans in my purse. I said "Yes, because I brought them from home." I then got to defend my ownership of said coffee beans in front of several other curious patrons in line. Yay. Our interaction ended with no apology. Simply, a "Sure. Right,' from Ms. Loss Prevention, as she walked away to harass more patrons. And I pretty much felt like crying. Thanks QFC. To sum it up. Loss prevention, go back to school. While you were scaring the crap out of me over coffee beans, I'm sure there were some bigger fish to fry. I am definitely not the type to write bad reviews, but I am also usually not the type to be followed around in a store. So here's to firsts! read more

I have to express how completely bummed I (and others I know) are with the conversion of the Broadway Market into the QFC Broadway Market. The multi-level plan of this grocer/market is a complete blunder and totally not user friendly. Have to elevator up (if you have more than a handbasket) to get paper products, beer, wine, toiletries OR elevator down if you want hardware or housewares. Totally stupid AND the stinky trash folks share the internal elevator and it's totally gross. This is a market really meant for urban apartment dwellers who are carless/childless folks. Staples like milk, eggs, bread are in the far back corner of the store. Lines have been long and management unattentive to their faithful clientele. Bummer. They do validate parking in the garage. My review of the Wine and Beer Dept at the QFC Broadway Market has been prompted by the review I saw that PNW E. published. To begin, let me say I have always had exceptional service while shopping in the Beer and Wine Department--whether it was extremely knowledgeable wine steward, Jameson, or his equally talented assistant, Andy. I don't know the whys or situation that existed when PNW E was there, but I would like to say in every clerks defense that the "rudest"--which has only ever been to reveal a bit of irritation at being obnoxiously interrupted--I have ever seen anyone be at the Broadway Market is when a customer pushes in or interrupts them when they are in the midst of assisting another customer. Thus, I am wondering if it was actually a "personal conversation" as PNW E indicated in his review or whether Andy was actually working with/helping another customer and PNW E less than politely or abruptly interrupted that interaction. Further, PNW E--totally out of order to have specifically named anyone in a negative light. I have a high confidence level that PNW E has had his bad days and shown himself in less that stellar lights on occasion... To attack someone else for this on-line, in a widely read venue, is seriously unprofessional and inappropriate... Especially when we are not given the perspective from the other participant in the scenario. Definitely Theory X management style...very about the stick with absolutely no carrot in sight. I have interacted with Jameson and Andy countless times in my 4+ years of shopping primarily at the Broadway QFC. I have never been treated rudely or badly. I have consistently been given great assistance and advice--even when the folks are clearly over-taxed and running at exceptionally quick speeds due to the high volumes of business this QFC regularly experiences. Sorry, PNW E, can't even remotely agree with your review. I would call it anecdotal rather than helpful. read more

Once, I was working on an electronics project and I was looking for wire cutters at one in the morning. I sat frustrated and hangdog at my desk until I remembered this wonderful QFC, and my motto: "If it's not at the Broadway QFC, then you don't need it." Seriously, this QFC has everything. Wire cutters, frozen pizza, 12-inch rock screws, starfruit, mineral oil for hemorrhoids, and bottles of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. And open 24 hours for your convenience (though occasionally the downstairs hardware section is closed at night). Be prepared to get lost, though. I don't think I've ever been in here without having to do a double or triple back and forth, in and out, figure eight over and over again to find the four things I need. They must have followed the same design edict as Olmsted did when they designed central park, which is to make it easy to get lost so that it appears larger. This QFC is gigantic. read more

The snarky checkers at this QFC need an attitude adjustment. I don't know what happened. In the past they were courteous and friendly and I was a loyal customer. But recently they have become rude and uninterested in helping their customers. The conversations at the check stand immediately go to how miserable their lives are and continue downhill from there. A cheery and inviting place this is not. I go to Safeway on John and 15th whenever I can. Maybe it's just the changing demographics of the "Hill"' but there is no joy in the eyes of these inhabitants. Too busy to care. read more

Great selection and very clean when I've been in there. The check out process was quick and the woman was great there. The reason I am only giving it three stars is because the store is multilevel so it is a little confusing for your first time and when I went to the customer service counter to ask where paper plates were the kid acted like I was interrupting his conversation with his friend and then he told me that they were on the second floor. I go straight to the elevator to the right of the customer service desk and go up a floor only to find out that I've now left the store without paying and am by golds gym. So I ride the elevator back down and go to the elevator to the left of the counter and that was the right one. There was no one behind me in the customer service line and the kid saw me go straight to the wrong elevator after telling me they were on the second floor and yet he didn't say anything and smirked at me when I came back down. So that is why I'm eating this store lower. read more

Just had the worst experience ever in this overpriced grocery store. Started off at the deli to get lunch and the counter person who served me had food particles all over her mouth and looked generally not very sanitary, so was put off my sandwich as soon as receiving it. Then i went to the fruit isle to get a watermelon, and noticed 4 tiny little cockroaches crawling all over the fruit...No thanks, i thought, i'll just check out. Standing in line at the check out counter i noticed the scale the cashier was using had sticky liquid goo on it that was sticking to the fruit the person in front of me was buying. Yuck!! Overall Horrid exp! Plus the sandwich i bought, was nasty with some weird pink creamy goo in it that i assume was cranberry something, Added by the memory of that deli person with food crusties on her face stuck in my head. Total gross out. I used to try and avoid shopping here, just cause its overpriced, but since its close i still would go often enough. Thanks to what happened today I will not complain about walking an extra 15 mns to Trader Joes and save money and enjoying quality, hygienic food! read more

Been going to this QFC for years. The Staff is VERY nice and helpful. In past 3 years, there been increase of dogs inside store. Signs on entrance doors say, only service animals allowed. Saw employee handing out cheese samples from table. Pet owner allowed dog sniff around cheeses, face up in there. Employee said to pet owner, I don't mind if he's here. Woman had tiny puppy off leash, letting him walk ahead of her, no line of sight on carts or people coming around aisle. Last two times, men with huge dogs. QFC - it's not ok to allow animals in food store. Especially such irresponsible pet owners. read more

Why do I like this QFC? Well first and foremost I can shop here without being bugged by the employees asking me how I am doing, am I finding everything alright and can they show me where an item is. I really do dislike that. I just want to do my shopping and get out. I don't want to bothered. If I need help I'll ask for it. I am not the typical American shopper where I need my hand held at every corner and QFC gets this. Secondly I like shopping here because I can find products that I can not find at Safeway. Third, they have real house wear stuff ie blenders, coffee makeres, pots, pans ect. Like someone said before this section can and has been a real life saver like when my coffee grinder died :( My advice to mgt though would be to make more use of the checkout stands on the north west side of the store by customer service. They would be amazed at how much faster they can get people checked out. As for those selfcheckouts BLAH! They suck and I wont use them. I refuse to take away from the hours that could go to a real working person. Oh one more thing I like about this QFC is the meat section. I can't eat the Ranchers Reserve beef at Safeway unless I want to be sitting on the pot for a while. So I go to QFC for the beef and they got the good stuff! read more

This would normally be a five star review but I have to subtract a couple stars for always being so understaffed at the hot deli during lunch time. I get my lunch from there frequently so I can say with certainty that they could do a better time with employee management during lunch time. On the upside, I have to say that this is a pretty awesome grocery store and the people are always very friendly. I have never received any tude from anyone there at all. And I have been going in there frequently since it opened several years ago. I'd consider raining my review if they did a better job of employee management though. I have been to the Broadway market since the 90s,WAY before this was a QFC,it WAS a Fred Meyers...the "mall" at the time had several other stores that were important to seattle...but,when QFC moved in,they destroyed the mall,taking over the whole bottom half...now,their is a few stores left of the "mall"...Kroger has 3 QFC's in the area,one here(obviously),one on pike and Broadway, and one on 15th street...they are all high priced,but this one sells more than the others...watch out for aggressive panhandlers and street kids asking for money and selling real change papers at all entrances/exits...bring you own bags because of the bag ban,and don't shop here if they raise the price and call it a "deal"...only shop here if it is the middle of the night and you are hungry and looking for a store that is open to get snacks...other than that,shop elsewhere...I get better deals at dollar tree and grocery outlet than this corporate dump! read more

This store allows the security guards to racial profile. On September 18, 2016 the guard stops me at the cashier and loudly tells everyone that he saw me take bags and fill them. This never happen since my items were from the Dollar Tree. If he had seen me do this then where are the items. He felt it was a laughing matter. I reported this to the Manager and have not heard back. I plan on more actions against them until something happens. read more

I Think this is the most expensive store I have ever shopped in!!! Sometimes its as much as $80 dollars just for one bag of groceries. They do have a great beer selection if you care to take out a bank loan. The shelves are often empty and items I purchase often ring up incorrectly (not in my favor). When something is on sale I expect to get sale price. If a store is going to charge top dollar, they should at least have enough help. I'M TOTALLY SICK OK OF THE LONG LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Usually I end up bagging my own groceries because there are no baggers. The people they hire have no manners and seem straight out of the ghetto. The produce looks beautiful, top notch genetically altered. The Top doughnuts are exquisite, especially if you like flies. The flies in the doughnut case really add life to the doughnuts. I can rent a car, drive to another store, and and still come out way ahead on my grocery bills. This is no the most poorly managed store I have ever been in! I'm used to writing gripes about bad customer service (too numerous to mention) or, even worse, hard-charging upsells shamelessly attempting to mask themselves as good customer service (Enterprise Rent-a-Car). So I was shocked today when I returned to this QFC and mentioned to a teller that I'd left something of significant value (I won't say what because I don't want people getting any ideas) at the register the night before. I said that I knew it was a longshot but wondered if anyone might have turned it in. Without a moment's hesitation, the teller immediately replaced what I told him I'd left there the evening before. I was shocked. I don't think I've ever experienced customer service like that before, where a store simply assumed that I was telling the truth and acted immediately to resolve my issue, far, far exceeding my expectations or anything that I had any right to even expect. QFC has gained a loyal lifetime customer in me. read more

I've shopped at this QFC since the first day it opened, and every other day since. I know it intimately and the layout still confuses me. An example: today I went in looking for some salsa. The fresh salsa is kept in no less than 3 locations, and it's supposed to be that way; I know because when I asked the produce guy he told me about all 3 locations (lunch meat section, produce, and deli) and how they split the profits between them. I mean, c'mon! THREE different places for fresh salsa? Ok, that's small potatoes compared to some other things. They seem to always be out of something basic. Plain lean ground beef was completely gone on Monday morning when I went to purchase some. It was not in stock on Monday night either, nor was it in stock on Tuesday night. I've had similar frustrations with regular, whole chickens (plenty of chicken parts, and free-range chickens, but no low-rent birds), Bolo rolls from the Essential Baking Company (everything else was stocked and fresh at 9am, but where the tag said there should be rolls, there were no Bolo rolls - like someone in receiving was snoozing). I mean, stuff is just plain missing. No Fresca where the Fresca tag is, no organic half-n-half in pints sometimes, Frigo string cheese individual packs are frequently out of stock, it's like the inventory control is just whacko. A pet peeve of mine is the incredibly mediocre baked goods available at QFC. Cinnamon rolls by 'Mostly Muffins' are bland and too sugary sweet; scones are dry as dust; cakes are iced with that horrid commercial bakery sugary icing that's universally loathed so much that I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would put it on a cake. Cupcakes, cookies, doughnuts - they all suck hard. Compared to some of the city's finest (Top Pot, Cupcake Royale, Borracchini's - not sure if I spelled that right - hell even the Dillettante that's literally across the street does baked goods a zillion times better. And some stuff just creeps me out. I was at the deli about 6 weeks ago and noticed that the fried chicken in one steam tray looked different than the fried chicken in another steam tray. Same parts, just different coatings. One was robust and crunchy, one...looked lame and soggy. I asked about the difference, and the deli person told me that they had an 8-piece chicken dinner on special that week and that the soggy-looking fried chicken was made with the "special" batter. So if someone ordered the special they got the lame-o chicken. read more

check the expiration dates on everything before buying-rotation is not well practiced here. also watch pricing-shelf tags sometimes read cheaper than what product actually rings up. they seem to allow dogs in their store which is disgusting. Seattle also seems to have a lot of buffet & self serve type products which is also disgusting. I've seen many of the street people scoop out handfuls of the granola-type self serve food-and nobody seems to notice. yes-I said hand not scoop. read more

Despite their higher average prices I do like to shop at this particular location for the variety of ethnic foods, pharmacy and household items which make for convenient one stop shopping on Capitol Hill.. However, their overly lenient stance on non-service animals/dogs in the store is giving me second thoughts of shopping here anymore. I don't feel I'm a highly intolerant or even opinionated person. However, I found myself surprised at the level of irritation I began to feel as I passed (within a 15 minute shopping stop on Friday night, May 24) THREE people with leashed dogs (two of them large and knee high) in the produce, deli and already crowded wine section. I was a bit turned off so walked out without making a purchase at that location. On my walk home I decided to stop in at the QFC on 15th Avenue E - only to run into another pet owner with a large, shaggy collie in the Meat section! When I inquired to an employee the store's policy - they simply said they aren't in a position to ask the person to remove their dog from the store. Enough is enough QFC. read more
