I was given an 8 am appointment after a 2 and a half month wait and got a quote of 133.00. When no one came or called I call the office to get an update on his arrival they don't answer the phone so I left a message with no call back. After 2 more hours I called back again and again no one answered so left another message. At just before 4 the technician called said he would arrive in another 45 minutes so my entire day off was shot. When he finished he told me the bill was 425 or 435 can't remember which is not what he told me in September. I do not trust Quality Air any longer and won't recommend them either. Until now I have been pleased but never needed a repair so that is when you find out how they will treat you. read more

Unfortunately service contracts with Quality Air have become a joke. After changes they have made to the service contracts they do not cover as much as previously but getting the twice yearly maintenance supposedly provided under the contract has become impossible. They notify you the month your service is due but then have no available appointments for 3 months or more - so you're 6 month maintenance intervals become at least 9 months. Started during the pandemic which was understandable but has continued well past pandemic. They're happy continuing to take your $'s though for maintenance you aren't receiving. When they do show up I do have to say they do good work. But charging more for less services due to contact changes and then not being able to schedule regular maintenance had just gotten ridiculous! read more

I have been a plan member and just recently the tech came out to do the regular check up and ended up cutting some wires and then the unit didn't work. The unit had been working fine before this. The new technician found out what had happened and fixed the issue. They are still charging us for this visit when it was not our fault. The manager was rude and arrogant and would not listen to us. Most would agree that Bryant is a premium HVAC equipment manufacturer which is why selected them when it came time to replace my old one. That said, I found out that a system is only as good as the people you hire to install it. Unfortunately, installer First Quality Air is not particularly good at this. I called First Quality Air because I had a terrific experience with a technician who serviced my old HVAC unit. As a result, when my Air conditioning quit, I called them again. The technician said my compressor was shot and I should replace the whole unit. A First Quality Air sales rep came out and priced a new system for me. I chose the top of the line system since it only cost a few hundred dollars more. I signed the contract and agreed on an installation date. The First Quality Air crew (4 or 5 people) showed up a day early. No problem, it was going to get very hot. They were there working most of the day. As they were packing up to leave, one of the technicians said: You know you did not get a heat pump? (I had previously had a heat pump.) I said no, I didn't know that. I wanted what I had before. The technicians told me that the salesman had made that mistake before and would fix it. Don't worry. I had given the salesman a check for the balance due earlier in the day. I was understandably upset. I am a single woman of a certain age and had run into this kind of discrimination before. The next day, I stopped payment on the check, then called First Quality to tell them I had done that. The salesman called me and sad he wanted to discuss the situation and would be there at 10:30 AM. The office later notified me 2 more times that he would be there later. When he showed up around 3:30 PM, I was on my way out. I told him he was welcome to walk with me but he declined. The new system worked for about 48 hours and then quit. I called the salesman and followed up by email 3 more times. He did not respond. I called the office and explained that the new system had stopped working several days ago. They said I should not have contacted the salesman but should have called the office. This is poor customer service in my view. Every person in a company is in customer service, particularly in a service industry. First Quality Air sent a technician who repaired the system. It is working for now. I gave them a new check. They still have not explained why I did not get a heat pump. Why did a brand new HVAC system fail? Perhaps First Quality Air's technicians are not adequately trained? Perhaps they are not able to attract qualified employees in the current tight labor market? In any case, I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere if you are thinking of installing a new HVAC system. Bryant is first class but First Quality Air is not. It's sales and service capabilities are badly in need of revision. read more

I just left Quality Air after about 5 years. I pay them monthly but now get no service, but they are great on excuses. It's now Dec 2023 and I have not had a service since Oct 2022, but pay monthly. I suggested a refund, but he said the payment was a monthly service. They used to be great but went way downhill since they changed their policies with their new contracts. If you want excuses for no service, these are your guys. Maybe there was an ownership change? They act as though they are the only company in town, and treat their customs that way. read more

I took time off work to meet one of Quality Air's technicians for an estimate to upgrade the heating/cooling system in one of my rental homes. We were considering a change from long term rental to short term rental. The technician was knowledgeable and helpful, but the office texted me a few days later. Instead of getting a quote, the text told me they couldn't do the work since it is "commercial" property! Don't waste your vacation time getting an appraisal, or don't give details if you are an owner wanting to rent the property where you want the work done. read more

Beyond difficult and unprofessional! I was out of the country and needed someone to check out a bad smell in my vent. I was informed the contract I signed with them 7 years ago allowed only myself or my neighbor to be present with the technician. I wasnt allowed to change the contract except in person. I had to actually contact my neighbor who lived over an hour away to come in!!! I was also told I could not have another service co come in to do any work. WHAT A SCAM!!! Incredibly the technician did not have a simple camera snake to detect anything so it was basically a waste of time expecially for my old neighbord. Since then I have had another duct service come in quickly and easily remedied the situation with a camera snake which was advised to be a simple tool heating and Air services had handily. The quality of the work was fine. The first technician was great but a part needed to be ordered. The second technician showed up 45 minutes after the the 4 hour window that he was supposed to arrive in. The property is a rental and because the company requires the property owner to be at the property, I wasted my day waiting on him. He was efficient but strangely got political with me when I mentioned that I was from the west coast and started telling me what an evil state I was from. We have had great service from Quality Air ever since we purchased our home and enlisted them to service our heat & air conditioning system in the house. We signed up for the service contract, which gives you two service calls each year on the system and that includes filters for the blower. It also gives you discounts on any parts you may need and a nice discount on a new heat pump or furnace if you have to replace one or both of them. The service techs that have come here have all been quite friendly and very professional. They also have a 24 hour emergency tech available if needed. I am so glad we found them and they are close by us, which is a bonus too. Scammers. They signed us up for their membership, which was supposed to include 2 service visits on our HVAC system annually and free replacement filters. They missed a visit and when they finally came to fulfill service, they charged us to replace the air filter, claiming that their membership contract had changed. They said they couldn't do it unless the homeowner was there but I live eight hours away. They said they couldn't help me. So my renters are now without consistent heat. This company insisted I needed a new heating and cooling unit and sent out an aggressive​ salesperson​ who said I needed extensive ductwork​ as well. I got a second opinion and it turned out to just be a small leak, I did not need to spend $11,000 to replace the unit and no ductwork​ was needed. 2 years later my unit is still going strong. They have an archaic rule that the homeowner must be present, even for basic service. No exceptions allowed--I even offered to pay in advance. The home I wanted serviced is one I own but in which my parents reside. Absolutely ridiculous and front desk person Haley made no attempt to work it out. Also, they wanted to offer a 4 hour appointment window, meaning I would have to miss at least a half day's work to sit and wait for them to come perform a service I offered to prepay to receive. In July of 2021 I called Quality Air for service. My central air conditioning unit was not working. It took them several attempts to repair the unit as they were not sure what the problem was and the total, which included an air filter for my home, was close to $2000. After this major repair, I actually had to call them once again as the air stopped working. This final repairman let me know that my DATS function, which was included in my bill of $2000, was not actually hooked up. This was something I was charged for, and it had not been done! I did contact the company who said they would look at it and, since this was not an emergency, I agreed to do this when it came time to winterize my furnace. I had signed up for a membership which should have included free monthly air filters (something I never received as that service was discontinued shortly after I signed up), priority scheduling in case of an emergency and a free annual furnace tune up for a cost $15 a month. In February, when I called to schedule an appointment, I was told they had assessed a $30 late fee to my membership account because they were unable to debit my card. I let them know that I had noted some fraudulent activity on my debit card which necessitated closing the account at the end of January and asked that the $30 fee be waived as I had forgotten about this monthly fee. They would not waive even a discounted amount from the $30 and let me know if I did not pay, I would not be able to receive the free tune up that came along with my membership. I decided to forego the membership as they still owed me the repair of the DATS system which they agreed to do. The $75 I lost in membership fees, I put down to experience. They are a poorly run company, without expertise and have no concern for customer satisfaction. My experience with them calls for their competence to be questioned and I probably saved money in the long run. read more

I am really really really upset with Quality Air in Asheville today. Our propane furnace stopped working a couple of weeks ago, strangely it would not start back up after we had the propane refilled. Called Quality Air, had them come out and give it a look. Their guy said that the motor was completely locked up and had to be replaced. The part would be like $400 plus labor and would have to be ordered but since the system is older he would like to send someone out with a replacement estimate, their guy came out a few days later LMAO $10,000 estimate. Thank God for my wonderful brother in law Bobby, who suggested the fan was stuck and needed cleaned. We did and the motor started working fine, so $12 for canned air and 3-in-1 Canned Oil it's running great !!! Called Quality Air this morning to tell them about my furnace not being broken and not needing to be replaced like they said and the manager Mike was flippant, said flatly sorry, not with sincerity or embarrassment but in that oh well get over it kind of tone. They could have cared less. I deserved a refund of my service call and a sincere apology but I can tell you that will never happen with this company. I would suggest to anyone out there not to use them, they do not care about their customers, they are crooks. I was lied too in an attempt to sell me a new system at the costs of $10,000, just sickened today. It was fixed with $12 worth of canned air and 3-in-1 oil, the fan and shaft needed cleaned, it was stuck. read more

On the plus side, this company was very easy to work with, was courteous and respectful, came out on a Saturday to do a diagnostic without charging me extra and was very responsive. The only negative was that the quote they provided for my AC repair was extremely high. I had another company, who also had excellent reviews, come out and complete the repair and they did the job for a THIRD the price quoted by quality air with all the same positive attributes noted above. If you are in a bind or need help in an after hours type situation I'm sure they would be great to work with, just know this will likely come at a VERY steep premium! read more

First tech that came out to diagnose problem was good. Seemed to know what he was talking about. Tech John was sent to do the repair. It was obvious he did not know what he was doing. He couldn't get fan off unit so he banged on it for a bit until he decided to go buy the tool needed for job. How do you show up with part, know what type of central air unit and NOT bring the necessary tool? My husband had to tell him to line it up correctly as he had it askew then it doesn't work. Apparently a switch which can be replaced for another 132$. Still doesn't work. Calls Lennox and they tell him there is a 15 minute delay after replacement of switch. I put on a timer before time is up he is back fiddling with it. Now he tells us it's the board which was fine a few days ago when the first tech was here. When I question him about not waiting 15 min as recommended by manufacturer he just shrugs his shoulders and goes on about the board Still no AC. He bypassed board ruining king valve another 352$ in addition we would need to replace our coolant another 810$. Bar none! This is by far the best company I've worked with since moving to Asheville 1-1/2 years ago. The receptionist, Becca, went above and beyond and was extremely personable! They had someone out within hours because our AC wasn't working. They wore booties on their shoes so as not to drag dirt into the house. Ben and Aaron were wonderful as they checked everything in the AC/heatpump and gas heating units and explained everything to us. They were definitely reasonable and they sold us on their club plan so that we have our unit serviced twice per year with a discount on parts. This company is large enough that customer satisfaction isn't a priority. I have a service contract with them. They come every 3 mths. We have 3 units. All were working well. After the tech left, our upstairs unit would not turn on. It was 80 in our bedrooms. I called and was told it would now cost us $400-500 for them to come back because it is after hours. I asked for them to contact the owner and ask him to give me a call. I have now asked many different employees to give Chuck a message to call me. 2 days and I have heard nothing! I did however get to speak with Ben, a supervisor. He was obnoxious and condescending when he spoke to me. I also asked Ben to ask Chuck, the owner, to call me. read more

Our furnace went out and I called Quality Air - we had used them several years ago through a ValPak offer. I was really pleased with their service. When I called the office worker said they would call me at 8:00 am on Monday morning and the tech would arrive by 8:30am - happened exactly like that. Tim arrived at around 8:25 am. I explained we used them several years before; he said yes, he had already reviewed our service history. Oh, and he put his shoe covers on before coming in the door; Every time he came in the house he put those shoe covers on, didn't wear them while in the basement so as not to track that dirt in. He did a diagnostic, told me what was wrong, exactly how much it would cost and how long the repair would take. He showed me pictures of what he was talking about. Asked if I had time for the repair today; didn't just assume! He also showed me "after" pictures and those were e-mailed to me in his service report. Called today to get a service call on my wife's uncles' house. He is in a Hospice terminally ill and we are trying to manage his affairs from a distance. A neighbor who was watching the house for us called us and advised that the furnace had quit and the house was cold. The weather is cold and we needed a prompt service call to fix the problem. Was advised by the person at Quality Air they could not help us as their policy was to deal only with the home owner. I explained the situation. The person I was speaking with was sympathetic but would not help us due to their "policy." Hard to believe. Fortunately, we found another contractor who responded promptly, fixed the problem in minutes, and advised there was no charge. read more

Wish I could offer a review of their service, but unfortunately I never received service. Called them because their website said they offer emergency 24 hour repair and they had good reviews elsewhere. The technician on the phone was pleasant to talk to, and said he would come the next day after some other scheduled service, sometime after 2:00. Also said he would call before coming out. We waited all day in the miserable heat expecting to hear from the technician. By 5:00 there had been no word, so I called the number. A different technician had no idea who I was, but said we probably had been bumped off the schedule by calls from "club members". No notification, no explanation that this was something that could happen, no suggestion of this on their website, and the second technician's attitude was "well that's what happens". The only solution offered was to call back and make a regular appointment Tuesday. In short, don't bother calling if you have an emergency. Find someone else. read more

We use Quality Air for 2 systems at our home and for the heat pump at a rental house. We have never had any problems with them. They show up when they say they will, they do excellent preventive maintenance which keeps the repair bills down. There are some critical reviews on here but they seem to be because the repair people have to have the owner present. There is a simple form you can fill out online ahead of time to let the renter be the one to meet them. This is a wonderful company all around. We will stay with them. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Called and requested an estimate and they scheduled for mid July. They called two days before and said a "club member" had an "emergency" and they couldn't get someone to give an estimate. They say their club members pay a premium for services and rescheduled for 8/17 (over a month later was their next available estimate). Called the day before (8/16) and said oh so another club member had an emergency and we can't give you an estimate for 3 months. 3 months?!?! I'm looking to potentially pay over 4 grand for a new system in a home less than 2 miles away from them and they obviously don't want my business. Look elsewhere! read more
