The business owner lied to us and said that he had flown a drone on top of the roof to take pictures/video as he felt the pitch of the roof was too steep for a physical inspection. We requested the photos/video on numerous occasions so we could make an informed decision on purchasing the home. The emails were first ignored, then we were told that he was out of town and would send us the files the following Monday. The business owner sent his son out the following Monday to take drone footage and tried to pass it off as having been taken the week before which was clearly not the case based on date/time stamps and content of footage. To make it worse, our home inspection report was incomplete and riddled with numerous glaring errors related to insulation, electric and roofing. We were forced to call out both a roofing consultant and an independent electrician to evaluate the systems before moving forward with our purchase. They are not to be trusted. read more

Ted did a the drywall and final inspection for our new construction home. On his final report he did not report any issues which i found strange because there usually is always something. On the day we moved in, I found there was a loud noticeable squeak in the kitchen floor (entire kitchen). Also the front entrance hand rail was loose. These were very obvious issues not identified on the report. This along with a few other items has made me question the quality of the inspection and report that Ted performed and I would recommend these guys to others. Edit: Responding to Ted: No Ted, you did both a predrywall AND a final inspection, both of which I paid for separately. The issues I noted above were on the FINAL inspection, which you did a day before closing and there were 0 issues identified in the report. read more

Overall they did an okay job. They found the easy stuff however they missed several big items that I found in ten minutes with an untrained eye. They missed the wax ring leaking in the hall bath. They missed the HVAC vent that was completely disconnected from the hall bath vent. Conditioned air was blowing into the attic. They missed the dryer vent line that was disconnected and blowing moist air into the attic. I found all three of these items within 10 mins. This leaves doubt in my mind as to the quality of the overall home inspection. I would look elsewhere when shopping for a home inspector. read more

We contacted Quality Home Inspections and Ted H. accepted the job of inspecting our new home prior to drywall. I acknowledge that It was a last minute request because of short notice from our builder. Our inspection was scheduled for Thursday, March 15. On the scheduled date, my husband and I went to the house at the appointment time of 4:00 pm. We waited for 23 minutes before calling Ted to find out if he was delayed. He didn't answer the phone so I left a message. After 60 minutes of sitting in the cold car, I called Ted again to let him know that we were leaving and that a courtesy call to let us know he wasn't coming would have been appreciated. Several days have passed since our appointment and I fully expected that a representative from the company would have called to explain why no one showed up. I am not one to give a negative review and while this did not have an adverse effect on us someone who is on a strict timeline could end up in a jam. When you hire a service oriented business that is dependent upon their reputation, you expect them to be reliable. Or, at the least to be courteous enough to call and explain why they could not make the appointment. NOTE: If you are fortunate enough to be too busy - do not accept the job. We purchased our home in Wilmington, DE in June of 2020, but had Ted and QHI come out for the inspection in May of 2020. The inspection was not thorough. Less than 6 months after the house was purchased and inspected, we identified a serious mold issue in the basement. In the HVAC closet in the basement, we identified an uncapped (yes, uncapped) natural gas pipe that was accidentally turned on that could have potentially caused a serious fire if not identified quicker. We also identified a water leakage problem in the basement. Windows in the house were not sealed correctly which has just gotten worse over time. We also identified several areas on the outside perimeter of the house that were the cause of the water leakage into the basement. All of this went unnoticed by Ted and QHI. The inspection was not thorough, was performed hastily and was not what I paid for. Not to mention the uncapped gas pipe could have killed my wife should I have not identified the source quick enough. 1 Star isn't bad enough. If we could use negative stars I'd surely use it. Could not recommend QHI less. read more

Had a house that I bought at Dover de in january, Quality inspected it . Did NOT do a thorough job. Went to use the washer, would not rinse. There are outlets near bathroom sink that needed to be gfci. Ground fault outside needed a cover but it rained bad the other day in april, water was pouring down on my front porch. The front porch roof is wavy not straight, inspector kid should of notice that even though there was pretty new roof shingles on porch roof, took a ladder and under the shingles the plywood is ALL rotten. I could of inspected the house myself and saved x amount of dollars instead of having a kid look at it. NOW I have to repair the WHOLE front porch roof. read more

Be careful here everyone. Quality Home Inspections does a pretty sketchy job. Their motto of not satisfied and you don't pay is met with arrogance and excuses. Their website is very impressive and they talk about their experience and how much time they spend in your house and being thorough. The were at my place less than 30 mins and claim they noted everything, yet I just spent $1,500 on 2 new appliances they said were working, yet days later after moving in both were dead.
