I scheduled the inspection seeing the amazing reviews on yelp. However, I was very much disappointed. We had great difficulty getting the inspection scheduled. The person could not schedule the inspection unless the call came from the sales agent. Apparently thats the only way "her computer lets her schedule" The inspection itself was not adequate. The inspector Dave seemed to speed through the inspection. We noticed one leak in the ejector pipe but failed to mention that in his report. Attention to detail and quality of service that you would expect from an inspection company is simply not there. This was a complete waste of my money. read more

Everyone I worked with here was very helpful and responsive. From the beginning, the office manager Karen was very friendly and thorough in explaining everything, and she was also great about following up with me to see where things were at. We were in a special situation with inspections, and she was very understanding of it. The inspector John was also very good - he found a lot of things that we hadn't noticed while looking at the house ourselves, and was very knowledgeable. He gave a lot of good advice about things that needed to be fixed, and was very thorough about checking everything. The report was very extensive and informative. Unfortunately, he didn't have a big enough ladder to get on the roof, but his drone took some pretty great pictures! Your services were a part of selling my home whether your company is hired by the buyer or the seller. Yes, I am the seller and I still would beware of this company. You stated "I was upset the buyer backed out" of course I would be upset. Especially, since they lost a well maintained home. I would have backed out after seeing this report too. But my main reason for being upset was having to pay contractors to come back to my home to tell me that what the report said was incorrect. I did not write a review to argue or be nasty. Frank Castiglione was our home inspector. He was extremely thorough and saved us from what turned out to be a bad real estate transaction.

Do NOT use this company. There are other inspectors you can use. I only used them because my realtor directed me to them. I hope she stops recommending them to her clients. They conducted a water test for us as part of our home inspection. Their result (from a home built in 1992 with a well) showed a lead content at nearly 8x the federal action limit. Naturally we were concerned to buy a house with such high lead levels in the water. The sellers have lived there for years and were equally alarmed. We had to hire a company specializing in water treatment and wells to try to find the source of the lead problem. The sellers did the same with a different company. Two companies specializing in water returned the same results and determined that the inspection test was WRONG. They inspected the well and all plumbing. They drew samples on two different days and their labs returned identical results. REI refused to give us a refund on their incorrect test that caused both us and the sellers additional expense and claimed the other two companies were wrong. Their inspector also reported that the seals on the toilets were inadequate and the toilets wobbled. The sellers hired a plumber to fix those problems, but the plumber reported that no such problems existed. Use someone else. read more

A few weeks after moving into our home, we discovered MULTIPLE issues that should have been addressed during the initial inspection. Window latches that did not lock, broken outlets, exposed wiring, leaks in the basement and the roof that were all overlooked. We were pleased with what we thought he had inspected, but found out too late that he missed some serious issues. read more

Scheduling Appointment: With the two home inspectors who I used in the past not being available, I came across Real Estate Inspection after spending some quality time with Google. I first spoke to the company president, Woody Watkins. Since I wanted to make sure I hired a good home inspector, I drilled Woody with questions and he was extremely patient and thorough in answering all my questions. He quoted me with a significantly lower price than four other quotes that I got, including the two inspectors who I used in the past. Woody helped alleviate my concerns that the low price would be reflected in the quality of work. Inspection Day: When my wife and I arrived at the home we were purchasing, the inspector assigned to my appointment, Pete Ciliberto, was already there and had already completed inspecting the roof. He caught us up to speed on what he had found and invited us to follow him around for the remainder of the exterior inspection. Despite the rain, he took his time to check every little thing. Once inside, he set up his electronic radon detection tool and explained how it worked. He spent over an hour inspecting the basement alone, explaining that he spends a lot of time in the basement since many problems can start in the foundation of the home. He used two really cool tools, an electronic gas detector and a thermal imaging tool, to check for gas and water leaks. His gas detector pinpointed the exact location of a significant gas leak within minutes. He even let us have some fun with the thermal imaging tool when my wife and I were curious what our face prints would look like on the wall. Throughout the remainder of the inspection, he took his time to inspect everything, took a lot of pictures, and provided us with a lot of helpful information. Report: I'm not sure what's more impressive... the fact that we got our report less than 24 hours after our inspection, or the quality of the report itself. The first part had a section that detailed what items required immediate action, along with another section with recommended action items. Pictures were provided throughout the document, along with explanations of the issues, how the issues should be fixed, and estimated cost of repair. Five Stars: Woody, Pete, and their new coordinator Andy, were also all quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. All three were very professional. Their service also included an environmental report and an appliance recall report. We used them for our radon, termite, and home inspection, as well as our re-inspection. Out of the three inspectors I have used, Real Estate Inspections is, by far, the best one. I have already passed on their information to two other friends searching for homes. They will be the only company I recommend to family and friends going forward. read more

This is by far the most thorough home inspection I've ever seen. Pete and his assistant were both very professional and they reported back to me after every section of the home inspection was complete. The written report was delivered via email the following day, and it was extensive!! It was a 99-page report, with the first half organized by aspect of the house (plumbing, lighting, etc.) and the second half of the report reorganized by room. Each part of the report came with an estimated cost of repair, which was helpful to us during negotiations for the price of the house. We obtained estimates from several inspectors when we were buying our house. Real Estate Inspections was, by far, the most knowledgeable and professional. All questions were answered quickly and promptly and they explained things that others didn't such as why they only offer one type of water test (the other test that can be done doesn't test for a certain type of lead). I requested the estimate on a Sunday via their website and had a call from the company within an hour. They were great during the inspection and offered a very objective view of the property, catching things we would not known to have looked for, but that were critical (such as the stove not being bolted to the floor). And they offered ranges of what it would cost to fix the items they found. Their rates were very reasonable in comparison to other companies which was an added bonus. I just had my second home inspection with Frank and if I ever try to buy another house I will definitely call him for a third one. I found a home that needed a bit of work and Frank took the time and care to walk me through all the repairs and answered every question i had. The roof needed a +30 foot ladder to access and he was ready with a drone to ensure every corner of the house was inspected. The owner had blocked access to the sewer line that was supposed to be inspected and Frank went out of his way to come back on a Sunday (they aren't open on sundays) when we were able to get access, in order to complete the inspection. He really went above and beyond what was expected from a typical home inspection. read more

This review is long overdue. I had real estate inspections inspect a home purchase 2 years ago as a first time homebuyer. I was nervous but felt comfortable given their positive reviews. During the inspection process, the inspector seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and pointed out several things that were not according to code, but there were no major issues. He did point out a couple of wet spots on the walls and the carpet but said that they seemed to have been dried out for a while so it shouldn't be a problem. Fast forward to a few weeks after I bought the home, I ripped up the carpets and found that the baseboards of the entire house (basement, first floor, second floor) were completely stained by pet urine and it smelled terrible ( I have pictures if anyone wants to see). We didn't smell it during the inspection because the former owners sprayed so much air freshener that it masked the smell. I would think the inspector would have recognized that as a clue though if he was seasoned. The other thing was that there was a roof leak in the office room which started in the ceiling and made its way down to the baseboards...another item you would expect a house inspector would find. Lastly, and I almost forgot to mention, when the house inspector first walked in the house, he turned all the faucets and showers on to make sure there were no clogs or issues with drainage. Well he turned on the sinks in the master bathroom while he inspected the kitchen downstairs. When he walked back up to the master bathroom, the floors were flooded with about half an inch of water (one of the bathroom sinks was backed up). We called the owners to let them know and luckily they didn't have a problem with it. But you would think that a seasoned inspector would know to wait awhile after turning on the sinks to make sure it isn't clogged before walking away to inspect another room for 30 minutes. Overall, I had a very negative experience with this company and they weren't inexpensive either. They do have other positive reviews so maybe I just got one of their bad inspectors. read more
