Average for a cheap hotel... Room was comfortable, but door knobs, locks, basically anything that needs screws are loose and you can shake them. Staff were ok, lady at check seemed new, which was fine. The staff at check out were fine. But in both check in and check out, you need to ring the bell, because they are not at the desk. The cleanliness of the building was good, minus the parking lot. They don't have a market place, but they have vending machines (that half way work) Overall, cheap...but doable. read more

Some of the reasons why: - long line at check in because the computer kept not working - poor wi-fi connection - rooms smelled musty and perfumed, as if covering up bad smells - a hole was kicked through our bathroom door. The door also would not shut. - leaky shower - ceilings and baseboards stained yellow and brown - big hole in comforter - beds not comfortable - floors were sticky - breakfast options were limited... not "fresh" as advertised - we could hear all our neighbors and noise in the hallway - our room phone rang loudly at 3am for no reason, interrupting sleep - workout room is tiny. Just 2 machines and some dumbbells, and everyone can see you - shower rod was wonky We wish we would have done more research before booking. Hotel is breaking the law asking about and charging for service animals. I will be reporting to ADA this is unacceptable and needs to be corrected. I gave them the opportunity to correct it and they still refused. I only stayed cause my home was getting painted and didn't like the smell but was treated like this is unacceptable. read more

Booked online while driving. Never do that again. First room was so nasty we had to get a different one. This one's was okay, not good, but it's the same as staying at a motel 6 in the hood. Outdated. Unkept. On the plus side I never once seen any sort of bug. They def charge a fee for pets. Booking online just says pet friendly and you pay and then u get here and they still add on pet fee. Ended up paying 200 for a $60 hood room at best read more

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Upon entrance the hotel is very dated and has a slight smell. We checked into our room and inspected it. The chair in the room was covered i stains, there was 2 urine stains on the comforter, and food crumbs in the second bed. We asked for a new comforter and was brought a sheet, as that is all they 'had'. We asked for a refund and was told only the manager could provide a refund and he had no plans on coming up there tonight. read more

Like most of the restaurants in this area, there is a lack of hotels as well. We stayed at this Quality Inn from saturday evening til monday morning. I grew up in this area and knew it before it was a quality inn. needless to say, Quality hasn't added any "quality". Walking into the place the lobby looks promising, nice lounge area, large eating area for the "free breakfast" and a lounge/bar area. The downfalls quickly become reality as you open the door to your room. The air conditioners are extremely outdated and when they're on, the volume of the tv is irrelevant as the ac overpowers them. the rooms have space and could easily fit two queens, but the doubles work. The rooms lack enough power outlets for charging phones, laptops or anything of that nature. The bathrooms were decent, upgraded faucets and shower head. No clue about the previous reviewer's issue, but we had 5 rooms reserved all with the same bathroom layout. The pool area made us laugh. there is a very large sun deck, its huge. In the middle is a tiny little pool enough for 12 people to swim in. anything over that and you're definitely bumping into one another. We called ahead to ask if the pool was heated and we were told "yes". got there and was greeted with icy cold water! Seriously? heated??? The "gym" was a tiny room, inside this room was also housed the sauna. Um, bad bad choice. The sauna put off a bunch of heat, in a gym room with no fans or any other type of adequate ventilation. The work out machines lacked the metal pins for weight selection, all the seats were loose, the cables were frayed and about to snap. the bench press cable was snapped. One of the cables got a little too close to me and scratched me on a downward motion. Its just a very poor design for such a tiny room. Free weights with a couple of benches would be safer. There was crackers all over the gym room floor and no wipes available for cleaning off the equipment. Im pretty sure its a breeding ground for staff infections at this point. The 2 story hotel lacks an elevator. I have stayed in many hotels in numerous states. Some hotels I've stayed in are easily 40 years older than this one, yet they have elevators. What gives Quality Inn? An elderly couple was in front of us filing a complaint about how they were given the wrong room, but decided to keep it due to the appropriate room being on the second floor with no elevator access. Hmmm, im thinking this place isn't compliant with some type of handicap laws, someone should check into that. Lastly, the first floor area between the two corridors where the pool is smells of a tobacco smoke shop. the back door which is supposed to be "locked" via card access was not and so everyone would just step out this door for a smoke. Because of the location of the doors and the mountain right behind the building, no real wind is generated in this area. so, all the smoke from behind the building where an ash tray is so conveniently located, flows directly into the down stairs corridors. Bring a mask if you don't want second hand smoke. This was my first stay since Quality took over years ago, and im happy to say my last. We'll find another place, even if the drive is further. read more

After driving all day we booked this hotel by accident through Priceline. We intended on another city. Our mistake. We realized the mistake right away and contacted Priceline which is the normal protocol. Priceline initiated a refund request which was denied. They told me that I'd need to reach out to the hotel which I did. I called and spoke to Chris who was very nice but couldn't do anything without the approval of manager Anthony Bell. I left a message. No response. I followed up with an email. No response. I finally had to call back this morning and spoke to Anthony Bell. This man must have never made a mistake in his life. He was very unapologetic, still denied a refund and I told him it wasn't about the money anymore but more about the poor customer service. I mean, they have my money now for doing absolutely nothing. The least thing this coward can do is call me back. So - take this advice. If you stay there you can know for sure that they don't give a rip about you! read more

I originally reserved a room with a king size bed and was not given what I reserved EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AVAILABLE. The manager checked me in and gave me a room with two double beds instead of the King but they were the same price and I had already brought all my luggage in so I wasn't going to bother saying anything. The manager told me the first card I gave him was declined so I gave him a different card. I checked my transactions later and noticed that I was charged on my debit card. I went back to the desk to try and talk to him and he was unhelpful, rude and immediately shut me down when I tried to explain/show him what I was seeing. So now I have to dispute the charge so I can get my money back. The room was cleanish. There were some flies hanging around the tub drain but other than that it was all right. The hotel is big, has a lounge area and provides free breakfast but I will never come back here. Overall, don't come here; it's not worth it. There are other places to stay. read more

Clean, friendly, lots of pillows, and one of the best rates in the area. It's a bargain hotel, so don't expect luxury, but it's a very nice bargain hotel. Be aware that if you coming from the east the turn is not marked very well. My googlemaps app didn't even recognize the turn, and was directing me another mile down the road to just pull a U-turn and come back to it. Free hot breakfast, but it doesn't start until 7. Came in from Louisiana for the Bike Rally, our room wasn't cleaned either night we stayed.... Nothing was refreshed and we had to ask for towels both nights, after they told us all the rooms were cleaned. We were here with several other couples and they all had the same problem. Almost every part of this hotel was terrible. The lobby smells like smoke so bad my three-year-old sister couldn't Evan breathe. It was dirty and super outdated. I'm 6 foot 2 and the counter in the bathroom was almost at my knees the toilet wasn't Evan big enough for my butt. Also there's no elevator so makes sure your on the first floor. Evan though it's a really bad hotel u get what u pay for two rooms for 120$ that's super cheap u can only get one mariot room for the same price. But the food at breakfast was pretay good. read more

Staff very nice. Ok breakfast. Otherwise this hotel should be closed. The outside is overgrown, unpainted, even the US flag staff is falling down. Pool fences falling down, garbage and towels laying around. The pool drain at the bottom was missing. There were more towns people with their kids than guests swimming. The white comforter on the bed was BROWN on the pillow end from dirt and had what appeared to be blood stains on it. No mattress on pullout which we needed. Once there was a very loud band and party no one was informed of which lasted till midnight. No one was able to get any rest and the staff was not apologetic. After several complaints, I was offered a reduced rate. Recently, this past January, I stayed in a room there which was not very well kept. But for the cheap price and limited options in Bluefield, I put up with it. However, this time around it was serious. I could not sleep like usual due to their noisy air system. I woke at 1am and found a dark brown beetle like bug on my white pillow. Tired and not thinking much other than annoyance, I brushed it off and shook out the bed and went back to sleep. Well, in the morning I called down to the desk and Angie answered. I told her this and to cancel my next night. There was NO due diligence. She did not inform me to complete an incident report nor offer to help me clean out my clothes and luggage. No due dilligence at all. She did not offer to even reimburse me for my stay. I guess they believe that ignoring something will reduce the seriousness of it. Well, in this case it is just the opposite. I got home and about 6 days later, I was all rashed up and in pain. It was awful. I immediately knew it was from that incident with the bug. After 4 exterminators, 2 of which did find and showed me small carpet beetles throughout my $2,000 mattress and sweaters and in my son's room etc. What a nightmare. Had the flu and had to sleep on my couch and still go to work as a teacher. I dealt with it on my own to keep expenses down. Still to this day, I see a bug or skin and have to clean and spray. Just an emotionally and physically draining incident. The hotel of course is denying the entire situation. They are being rude, unprofessional, belligerent, fighting me, arguing, insulting, and just down right ignorant in handling this matter. I am trying to keep it as cheap and simple as possible, but they just refuse to discuss it and be civil. Choice hotels is acting in the same manner. So, I would never stay at any Choice hotel chain and of course never never stay at this hotel. There are new hotels 20 mins down in Princeton that are only 2 years old! This is nonsense. Also, there was a stabbing/shooting at this hotel and that is why they closed down the bar inside. I also contacted the board of health in Mercer County and they found a lot of serious issues such as mold,, mildew, etc that had to be resolved. I am going to request documents through a FOIA. It is awful. There is no elevator. The breakfast is disgusting. The eggs are round thin skins like saucers that are so salty and disgusting. The little donuts are stale. The coffee is watered down. Just gross. Seriously, do not stay here. There are a lot of nicer options as I said in Princeton which is off of the major road. The hotel does have a terrible stale smokey smell throughout. The rooms are stuffy, the WiFi is unforgivably slow, the ice machine down the hall was out of order, and the housekeeping staff neglected to supply me with SOAP, of all things. When I complained at the website, they reimbursed me for 30 bucks, which was nice. But the fact remains that this hotel has seen better days. You could save a few bucks and get a satisfactory room at the nearby Econo-Lodge. Or just go to one of the newer hotels in Princeton. read more

We travel back and forth between Florida and Michigan with pets. Finding a halfway decent place to stay that is pet friendly and not a complete rip off is difficult at best. We stayed on a Friday night in December 2015. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Heating unit was relatively quiet. We ate in the bar. Food was good. Breakfast the next morning was the usual average hot breakfast. From my experience, if you want a clean room and a place to accept your pets, this is a good place to stay. read more

I have watched this motel deteriorate over the past five years to the point where it probably should be demolished. At the least, it needs a good cleaning and painting. The bathrooms well there is a good gas station on the corner. The bathroom in our room had cracked fixtures and dirt and mold. Yuk!! It does have a free breakfast. It is free because no one would pay for it. I could go on like this but just do your self a favor and stay somewhere else. Corporate has got to step in and do something about this place or just close it down. On the night that we were there only two people were in the entire motel working. When I called to make the original reservation I had to call back no one answered the phone the first time I think that pretty much sums up my review. About the only positive thing that I can say is that the two people who were working were very nice guys both of them, they were trying to make the best of an impossible situation. read more

I am traveling to Bluefield weekly for the next 16 weeks and will be staying at the hotel. The staff is very friendly and address me politely. They allow late checkout and early check in. We stayed at the hotel for a wedding and wanted to be close by to the church and reception. When we arrived we noticed that the outside trash cans were overflowing and when we walked inside the hotel smelled like smoke. We asked the attendant where the elevator was since we were staying on the second floor and he said there wasn't one. We never had enough wash cloths and every time we requested some housekeeping told us that they were in the wash. The ice machines never worked and there was not a refrigerator in the rooms. They also needed more staff in the breakfast area, because they kept running out of items and everyone was complaining. The eggs were so greasy my wife had to spit them out. Stayed Feb 2015-Older facility for sure, but the room was ok, fairly quite and shower had good pressure, tub drained well. This may seem odd to comment on, but it's important to a frequent traveler! The big complaint is the Internet service totally sucked. Several attempts to log on to hotel network, almost impossible to surf efficiently and couldn't log into my VPN network. We arrived on September 18 2016. There was a large loud drunken party in the lounge area. This party later spilled out into the lobby area and beneath the awning at the entranceway. At about 3:15 am there were to females fighting in the parking lot and then two gunshots were heard. The police soon arrived and the crowd dispersed. This place is unsafe to stay. read more

Giving this place a 1 is plus in itself! Stayed here for one night in which we were over charged and instead of crediting us they charged us an additional night. The manager ensured he refunded the money back into our account but never gave us a receipt number for the transaction he says he did. Clerk at the front desk was nice but was not knowledgeable of what was suppose to be done. The room was so dated that the cable was the worst I had ever seen. Carpets stink and overall the quality in this quality inn was not there! From the charges, to the rooms, lobby and whatever was dragged across the hallway that left a stream of sticky crap on the floor like someone was dragging trash from one hall to another! We still have yet to be refunded our $111.99 (that was the military discount) that we were over charged.
