Well,we knew this hotel was not rated high, but it would accommodate all our families, so we booked 4 rooms on Thanksgiving week. Room 1 and 2 were refurbished. When taking a shower in room 1, the water leaked into room 2 under the sink and made a big puddle. So both of those families had to get another room. Ugh. Room 3 smelled of smoke. So we got a different room that didn't smell, but the toilet overflowed the second morning. We were only in our rooms at night. We spent all day and evenings at the caves so the toilet should not have given us trouble. The hotel staff were friendly, and the lobby was clean and fine.

I started out good with a pleasurable check in and then proceeded to my room. Swiped my card to unlock the door and it was latched from the inside. Heard a man's voice say we are finishing cleaning. Waited for a couple minutes and a man and woman came out. They had no vacuum or dirty linens or cleaning supplies of any kind. The room smelled of guilt and both parties looked to be making the walk of shame coming out. I went back to front desk and requested a new room which I was given. Walked out of my room later to see drug use outside. Later while I was out I saw a cat thrown out of room. The aura around this place is impure and not comfortable staying here! Enjoy! Front desk staff gets 4 stars but this place is a dump.

Room was okay. A little subpar for a typical room. Fine for the low price. Not as bad as you'd expect from the outside. Exterior looked a little rough and did not look like the nice photo online. Breakfast was limited, we preferred to go to Cracker Barrel nearby in Cave City. Hotel is only about a 25 minute drive from Mammoth Cave NP Visitor Center (park entrance is a bit closer than that). Nice staff. Decent WiFi. Another hotel would probably have been nicer but we don't regret saving money on this one at all. Didn't use the pool so I can't comment on it. The hotel might attract a slightly rougher crowd. Couple in room next to us were arguing into midnight but I won't hold their behavior against the hotel. Staff member said they stopped or were going to stop booking rooms to locals because of how they treat rooms. So I imagine that's why other reviews apparently had worse rooms.

Maybe come back after they finished their remodel. The room was updated, still needed some work. The mattress was new and so was all the furniture and decor in the room. The room had a microwave, but they didnt sell popcorn, also had a mini fridge and coffee maker. If you need it, they also has a iron, and blow dryer. Unfortunately the door was super hard to open and there were a few problem areas that should be addressed. First the door,of course, second the front window was cracked and needed repaired. The ceiling had some cracks that needed drywall repair, some carpet still needed taped down. The plus side was the room was clean, you could tell they were doing upgrades. The free breakfast, what can I say, it was free. Not the best and certainly not the worst. One thing was nice, the staff was super friendly and they have a pool. Forgot to mention, this is in a dry county, luckly the closest liquor store was only 6 min away!

Do not stay here! Only one person was on staff, and she was completely overwhelmed. She didn't answer the phone, and still today no one is answering the phone. We were given a smoking room at first, then a non-smoking room. The bathroom was dirty, and there was no running water. Loud construction sounds behind our room revealed a large hot water tank being replaced. We left within 30 minutes, and are still trying to get a refund.

Holy Fuck...place was pretty scary. Staff was very polite but gave us a dirty room. Got it switched to another one that still wasn't that great- bugs everywhere. Good news is if you total your RV or semi, there's conveniently a large wreck yard right beside the hotel. OR of you want to feel more creeped out, the porn establishment down the road will do the trick.

    Are you kidding me??

Everything else was booked. Took a chance on this hotel and I think I would rather sleep in my car. Free wifi? Only for the people at the front desk. Called to ask to fix it and the response was "well idk what you're doing because it's working for us." Also, some kind of bodily fluid on the carpet, black hair all over the floor in bathroom. Furniture was updated although the sheets were ripped. Would never even think about showering here. Stains are still on the ceiling from years ago as stated in another review. First room we went into we used the restroom, flushed it and water flooded everywhere, not understanding why they wouldn't put a fresh roll of toilet paper out, it was used with one strip left. YIKES! Save your money and turn around even if everything else is booked.

Check in was smooth. Desk clerk friendly. Get to room and can't open door. Wasn't a key card issue, door was jammed. Desk clerk come out and we Force the door open. Walk in room to find it stinks like dog pee. Desk clerk gave us another room. Beds comfortable. Room good except for bathroom. Dusty ugly vents and moldy toilet paper.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again. At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology. I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog. Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd? Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working) This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will not be back.

If friendly staff are a must for you, you might consider this hotel. Staff were not overly friendly, but they weren't rude either. If a nice, well thought out, and creatively presented breakfast is a must for you, you will definitely want to look elsewhere. We are here for 3 nights and the breakfast is always the same. You have your choice of up to 4 small waffles or 1 large waffle. You can then choose from Orange or Apple juice. At the next stop, you may choose between fruit loops cereal or Post Raisin Bran. You will then find a basket of red apples, with the store sticker still on them (indicating they have not been washed). For the last stop, the offerings are banana/strawberry or peach flavored yogurts. It's like Ground Hog day, the same offerings day after day. We chose not to utilize housekeeping (we just swapped out our towels), but the same guy running the breakfast is the housekeeper as well. One last thing about the room. There are no drawers, but any place you might put your clothes is open. There is a nice closet with nice looking doors for hanging pieces. Everything about this place seemed like the owners were being as cheap as possible to squeeze whatever profit they could out of it. When we checked in, the guy INSISTED we pay in cash, even though the booking I made online obviously had me reserve using my credit card. Makes me think he's probably involved with tax evasion. :/ Like, what does it say about your customer service when you force someone to pay cash so you can avoid a debt card fee? Jerkwad. Also possibly homophobic? I reserved a single king for us but again he just decided to give us a room with two beds instead. Like what even? We got one of the rooms upstairs. Be careful if the stairs are wet or damp, they are VERY slippery and you could easily fall and hurt yourself if you aren't careful. The room was really big... pointlessly big, almost like deserted dance hall vibes. Awkwardly it made it more obvious how painfully underfurnished the room was... a tiny sad flatscreen far from the bed, a desk with a folding chair... the mini fridge was set so low that it barely kept things chill let alone cold. The shower was the only okay thing. The A/C unit was functional but spastic once it got to the thermostat setting as it would hum to life only to be on for a minute at most. The bathroom mirror was ludicrously tiny. Of course the towels were small and rough AF. I was willing to give them a try but y'all should avoid this place. Just let it die.

One of those roadside attractions that you really have to experience sometime in your life if you like quirky things. Apparently this is only one of three of these teepee villages left in the country after many more have been torn down. So I made my reservations online and less than a year later, we arrived! Keith and Megan are the owners and Keith greeted us and gave us quite the verbal tour and history. Him and Megan bought it five years ago and they are slowly updating everything to the original 1937 design but also keeping updated amenities in mind too. We stayed in number 10 and even though it has not been restored yet it was still clean and they put work into at least keeping it current until it gets a full restoration. The only complaint I had was there was not a lot of horizontal space to set things down. No nightstands either because it's a very tight space. No table at all in the bathroom either so it was hard to use toiletries. The air conditioner is in the window but eventually there will be a silent mini split installed and I can't wait to see that! The whole playground and fire pit area is completely vintage looking but still maintained. Guests came and went and it was always fun to watch different sets of kids enjoy all of the activities. We had a fire every night and Keith had one or two cats follow him down from his house who joined us and let us give them all the love. This was definitely a great stay and I'm looking forward to doing it again someday but I definitely want to stay in one of the more updated teepees. But they made it clear that anything we needed, we could just ask. Very nice people and you can tell they are really putting some love and TLC into this place. It might take a while to get it back there but they are not just skating by. The big teepee out front that used to be a restaurant and gift shop is going to be a coffee shop someday as well. Excited to see what happens in the future!

I always need to stop in Kentucky or Tennessee on the way down and back at the halfway-ish point. I had enough Airmiles to book this hotel both on the drive down and the trip back. I arrived in the early evening both times and was greeted by the same clerk. She was friendly and we even joked around about Mardi Gras when I came back. It was nice she remembered me. Check-in was easy and hassle-free. I've had other hotels double charge me or put a big hold on my card for 'incidentals,' but they didn't do that. They just ran the card in case any charges were incurred, but they never charged anything to it. The first stay, I had a room with two double beds. I booked that way, wasn't paying attention. I prefer a king-sized bed. That was what I had on the way back and, although the double bed wasn't super uncomfortable, the king bed offered a far better sleep. It was VERY comfortable. But I had a great sleep both nights. The entire hotel is one floor, so no stairs to mess with. I was in a room at the back the first stay, but it was still a very short walk from the car: easy in/easy out. Even better the second stay. I was in room 102 and got to park right in front of my room door. The fast unload and load up the next morning was greatly appreciated. The area was well-lit and felt very safe with other businesses close by. I travel alone most times, so that is important. The rooms were very clean and provided anything you might need. There was only one little spot where it looked like some lotion was mashed into the carpet by the bathroom door, but that would be very difficult to get out with a routine cleaning. Everything else was very clean. Each room was large and had my three must-haves when travelling: in-room coffee maker, fridge for cream when on the go and a luggage rack for my huge suitcase so I don't have to bend over to root through it. This hotel also did something I haven't seen at other places that made me very happy: the in-room coffee packs. I like a LOT of coffee in the morning and they provided six packs of regular (there was decaf too, but I see zero point in that lol). Most places only give you two. I had early mornings to start a long drive and really appreciated that extra coffee. The morning clerk was also super friendly at checkout and wished me a safe drive. There are also many gas stations around and places to eat as well. If you make the very well worth it drive to Turtlelinis for pizza, there is a convenience store around the corner that is stocked as well as a small grocery store. So, if you want a clean comfortable place to stay that provides extra amenities like the fridge and microwave and lots of coffee, I definitely recommend the Super 8 Wyndham Cave City! We did not take advantage of these options only because we were a little beat coming back from our Cave tour early in the day. Checking in was a breeze, the clerk was very friendly, got to love this area of the country, we find friendly folks are plentiful. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, bread items, oj and more. We fueled up ;) on the eats for the next part of our journey. There is a cute gazebo area out the backdoor to sit at while enjoying your meal, how special is that.
