WONDERFUL place to stay! The staff is very kind and friendly. :) The rooms are very clean comfortable. It is a very good motel setting and a very affordable price! WIFI is fast and free. TV was great and the beds are comfortable. The outside appearance gives a charming and welcoming feeling. I liked the benches outside of each room. There are plenty of places to eat and shop locally within a few minutes. We only stayed one night, but this would be a great place to stay for a week and enjoy all of the activities at the nearby Mammoth Cave. The manager was actually from our own small hometown in central Illinois! That was a pleasant surprise.

This was my last stay on my way home from a book signing in New Orleans. I'd found this gem on Expedia and it had great reviews. I booked it and wasn't sorry! The price was only $44! The hotel is about 9 minutes off the highway, which I didn't find to be a problem. I arrived after a long day of driving at around 7PM. the owner checked me in and was so friendly and helpful. He even offered to help me carry in my luggage. I asked for a lower level room, those who know me know why and he was happy to accommodate my request. The inside of the room was so spacious. The walls are paneled in wood...real wood. So beautiful. The tv was good...I have to have it to sleep. I did wish it weren't tilted forward quite so much. There were a fridge and microwave. Full small pot coffee-maker. In-room coffee is another must for me.The bathroom was tiled in old-fashioned mint-green and white, which I found charming. There was also a nightstand, large dresser and desk. Bed was soft and comfy. What a great room for the price. Even though the property is older, it is perfectly kept and spotless. Not a speck of dirt anywhere! And I appreciated the power outlet in the lamp by the bed, also a must for me since my laptop doesn't hold a charge. I was impressed by the owner, large space and cleanliness along with the comfort. Highly recommend! There is a touch of traffic noise from the highway, but I find this helps me sleep...I hate quiet though it may be disturbing for others (but is well muffled inside the room). Just to note, the only pizza place that delivered and it was phenomenal!

2 stars because the bed comforter/pillow was stained. YUCK. Thankfully only stayed here to sleep a few hours. Mini fridge was wobbly. Crumbs ALLLL over the floor between the beds, under the bed, dirty stuff everywhere. The plus side of this motel was the mini cinnamon roll pastries for breakfast lol they ran out of breakfast stuff pretty quickly. They put more bread/bagels out, but no more butter/jelly/cream cheese. What did they expect us to do, eat the bread products dry? The best part of the motel is location to being nearby gas stations, McDonald's, close to mammoth cave, etc. I wouldn't ever come back though.

Customer service is always great. Room is always clean; however, it's a bit outdated. If you're cool with that and really just want clean, this place will work for you. We've stayed four or five times now.... They offer smoking rooms. They allow pets, $5 fee. They have a swing set and picnic area, too. No ice machine, but if you ask they will offer you a small bag. Nice folks.

not sure if the phone worked. no lamp to be found, clock, hair dryer, etc. Note hole in the wall, this was general state of the room

If I could give it less than one star I would. The rooms were nasty (see real world pictures attached, they look nothing like any marketing website for this accommodation). We reserved two non smoking rooms two weeks in advance. One room was definitely smoking and when we asked for another room were told there were none. On check-out we were told things were "taken care of". We did not sign a credit card receipt. Later that day we were notified that our reservations had been cancelled by the motel, later we were informed we had no showed. I contacted the booking company to straighten things out and was told not to worry because there would be no charge by the booking company nor the motel because the motel said they would waive the fees. I explained to the booking company that we had been there but the rooms were horrible. I was told again that fees were waived and neither the booking company nor the motel would charge us for the night in the future. Now the motel is directly charging me for two rooms for the night we stayed there.

Holes, stains, hair, cigarette burns in the linen, and smoke smell in the rooms. Waited several minutes ringing the door in the rain before the staff opened the door. Rooms were not clean, bathroom was falling apart, and the walls were falling apart and mismatched with very poor patch jobs. I came here for the positive reviews, but obviously you can't believe everything you read online. Don't go here, go somewhere closer to the highway with a real reputation. I felt itchy just being under the sheets. Check out the pictures I posted if you don't believe me.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again. At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology. I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog. Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd? Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working) This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will not be back.

You have your choice of up to 4 small waffles or 1 large waffle. You can then choose from Orange or Apple juice. At the next stop, you may choose between fruit loops cereal or Post Raisin Bran. You will then find a basket of red apples, with the store sticker still on them (indicating they have not been washed). For the last stop, the offerings are banana/strawberry or peach flavored yogurts. It's like Ground Hog day, the same offerings day after day. We chose not to utilize housekeeping (we just swapped out our towels), but the same guy running the breakfast is the housekeeper as well. One last thing about the room. There are no drawers, but any place you might put your clothes is open. There is a nice closet with nice looking doors for hanging pieces. One of those roadside attractions that you really have to experience sometime in your life if you like quirky things. Apparently this is only one of three of these teepee villages left in the country after many more have been torn down. So I made my reservations online and less than a year later, we arrived! Keith and Megan are the owners and Keith greeted us and gave us quite the verbal tour and history. Him and Megan bought it five years ago and they are slowly updating everything to the original 1937 design but also keeping updated amenities in mind too. We stayed in number 10 and even though it has not been restored yet it was still clean and they put work into at least keeping it current until it gets a full restoration. The only complaint I had was there was not a lot of horizontal space to set things down. No nightstands either because it's a very tight space. No table at all in the bathroom either so it was hard to use toiletries. The air conditioner is in the window but eventually there will be a silent mini split installed and I can't wait to see that! The whole playground and fire pit area is completely vintage looking but still maintained. Guests came and went and it was always fun to watch different sets of kids enjoy all of the activities. We had a fire every night and Keith had one or two cats follow him down from his house who joined us and let us give them all the love. This was definitely a great stay and I'm looking forward to doing it again someday but I definitely want to stay in one of the more updated teepees. But they made it clear that anything we needed, we could just ask. Very nice people and you can tell they are really putting some love and TLC into this place. It might take a while to get it back there but they are not just skating by. The big teepee out front that used to be a restaurant and gift shop is going to be a coffee shop someday as well. Excited to see what happens in the future!

I always need to stop in Kentucky or Tennessee on the way down and back at the halfway-ish point. I had enough Airmiles to book this hotel both on the drive down and the trip back. I arrived in the early evening both times and was greeted by the same clerk. She was friendly and we even joked around about Mardi Gras when I came back. It was nice she remembered me. Check-in was easy and hassle-free. I've had other hotels double charge me or put a big hold on my card for 'incidentals,' but they didn't do that. They just ran the card in case any charges were incurred, but they never charged anything to it. The first stay, I had a room with two double beds. I booked that way, wasn't paying attention. I prefer a king-sized bed. That was what I had on the way back and, although the double bed wasn't super uncomfortable, the king bed offered a far better sleep. It was VERY comfortable. But I had a great sleep both nights. The entire hotel is one floor, so no stairs to mess with. I was in a room at the back the first stay, but it was still a very short walk from the car: easy in/easy out. Even better the second stay. I was in room 102 and got to park right in front of my room door. The fast unload and load up the next morning was greatly appreciated. The area was well-lit and felt very safe with other businesses close by. I travel alone most times, so that is important. The rooms were very clean and provided anything you might need. There was only one little spot where it looked like some lotion was mashed into the carpet by the bathroom door, but that would be very difficult to get out with a routine cleaning. Everything else was very clean. Each room was large and had my three must-haves when travelling: in-room coffee maker, fridge for cream when on the go and a luggage rack for my huge suitcase so I don't have to bend over to root through it. This hotel also did something I haven't seen at other places that made me very happy: the in-room coffee packs. I like a LOT of coffee in the morning and they provided six packs of regular (there was decaf too, but I see zero point in that lol). Most places only give you two. I had early mornings to start a long drive and really appreciated that extra coffee. The morning clerk was also super friendly at checkout and wished me a safe drive. There are also many gas stations around and places to eat as well. If you make the very well worth it drive to Turtlelinis for pizza, there is a convenience store around the corner that is stocked as well as a small grocery store. So, if you want a clean comfortable place to stay that provides extra amenities like the fridge and microwave and lots of coffee, I definitely recommend the Super 8 Wyndham Cave City! We did not take advantage of these options only because we were a little beat coming back from our Cave tour early in the day. Checking in was a breeze, the clerk was very friendly, got to love this area of the country, we find friendly folks are plentiful. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, bread items, oj and more. We fueled up ;) on the eats for the next part of our journey. There is a cute gazebo area out the backdoor to sit at while enjoying your meal, how special is that. Remember this is a Super 8, so realize it's not going to be fancified, but it is definitely good enough. The room was quite clean too! Yes I'd stay here again.

Those photos attached to this review are from room, 106 . Not only the carpet was very dirty underneath the AC was full of dead bugs and spiderwebs, and you can tell that it has not been clean for decades, probably since the hotel opened up. And what made me look underneath the AC was alive cricket inside my room inside the AC where the spiderwebs were. The cricket was chirping, nonstop, almost all night to where I had to go and switch to room 103. Before I got switched to room 103 I went back to the front office to talk to an older gentleman that does not understand English. He had to use Google translate and I had to show him on Google images of cricket look like because he did not know what that was. He finally switched me to room 103.
