If a nice, well thought out, and creatively presented breakfast is a must for you, you will definitely want to look elsewhere. We are here for 3 nights and the breakfast is always the same. You have your choice of up to 4 small waffles or 1 large waffle. You can then choose from Orange or Apple juice. At the next stop, you may choose between fruit loops cereal or Post Raisin Bran. You will then find a basket of red apples, with the store sticker still on them (indicating they have not been washed). For the last stop, the offerings are banana/strawberry or peach flavored yogurts. It's like Ground Hog day, the same offerings day after day. We chose not to utilize housekeeping (we just swapped out our towels), but the same guy running the breakfast is the housekeeper as well. One last thing about the room. There are no drawers, but any place you might put your clothes is open. There is a nice closet with nice looking doors for hanging pieces. We chose to come here after our terrible quality inn "experience" in horse cave. The receptionist, Lena, was EXCEPTIONAL. Truly, so sweet and informative. We got a king suite with jacuzzi. The bed was WONDERFULLY comfortable. The jacuzzi was such a treat. The jets worked as they should. Our walk-in shower is awesome. Mini fridge/microwave worked flawlessly. It was okay...Easy drive to Mammoth NP & Diamond Caverns..Walking distance to some fast food & ice cream

I made my reservation in March and they cancelled it in April without notifying me. They said its because I had a pay now and save reservation but why did they not charge it until a month after I made it and a month before staying? I obviously had adequate funds. And why was I not notified? I was a front desk supervisor at a hotel for nine and a half years and it is TERRIBLE customer service to just cancel someone's reservation without telling them. They could have made the situation better by letting me rebook and honoring my original rate but refused leading me to believe the manager is either rude/unaccommodating/lacks basic customer service skills, trained poorly so unable to do a simple fix, or not allowed to make normal management level decisions to fix a problem made by the hotel. Absolutely unacceptable practice and not even a hint of an apology or understanding. The actual front desk worker said he didn't even work at this hotel but was covering because someone didn't show up. He was wearing a hampton or hilton uniform and while he was nice, he wasn't much help. Additionally, the room door had issues latching and locking shut. Had to try multiple times every time we left or returned to make sure it was fully closed because I'd not it could be easily opened without a key. Room itself was ok, some scuffs and stains here and there and a bobby pin left on bathroom floor. Also it has very minimal breakfast (waffles, yogurt, cereal only - no pastries, toast, eggs). read more

Stayed there 1 night. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Looks like they converted the tub into a walk in shower, it was nice except the water kept going over the edge and onto the floor. Breakfast was poor, only waffles for hot food, then cold cereal and yogurt. There are 2 waffle stations so when it's busy there's a long line of people waiting to make them. read more

We come down to Cave City often for business and this time we stayed at the Sleep Inn on Mammoth Cave St. All I can say is we found our hotel that we will stay at anytime we are in the area. Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was the usual stuff, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereal, yogurt, toast, and a couple of pastries. Nothing special but enough to fill you up and get you on the road. The only complaint I have and it's not just for this hotel. This is for every hotel in existence. Get a new toaster! I like my toast toasted, and there is no hotel anywhere that works. Seriously, this is a great hotel and a great clean place to spend the night. read more

I LOVE this hotel! I always stop in Cave City the first night I'm travelling to Mardi Gras every year and will ALWAYS stay here every year going forward. If you read my review of last year's stay, you know what a disaster that was. I have RA and the desk clerk told me I couldn't have a first-level room (no elevator there) and I had to lug my suitcases up two flights of stairs. I swore I would never stay there again, which led me to the Sleep Inn and Suites. They are the BEST! They have an elevator. This will make someone with a disability weep with joy. There is also an indoor pool. I didn't notice they had this amenity, but next year will pack a swimsuit. The only issue I had was with the desk clerk the first night. I had been driving all day for nine hours and arrived after dark. I was very tired. She seemed annoyed to see me, which made me annoyed. She had been on her cell phone talking to her friend, and when I showed up, she didn't like being interrupted (she was sitting on the couches that I assume are for the guests in the front lobby area). This really made me take pause, because my generation doesn't understand this being on your cell at work while you're being paid to work. I didn't like feeling like an annoyance to her, because, frankly, my staying at your place of employment KEEPS you employed. I have found though, that when people are in this type of mood, it's because they are usually going through something, so I made a point to be overly nice. She did seem to warm up to me, so check-in went smoothly. As soon as I was taken care of, I proceeded to make three trips in to bring in my stuff. She immediately went back to the couch, and I could hear from her conversation that there was trouble with a boy. Yes, that is upsetting, and I did feel for her, been there, but in my experience, you leave that at the door when you come to work. That generation continues to astound me with what they think is okay to do at work. I did address this with a manager when asked how my stay was later, and they did take steps to solve the problem, but that was minor to me. I've seen so much worse. When I saw the room, all troubles melted away. The only thing lacking was that the mattress could be a bit softer, but the rooms are HUGE! The walk-in shower is fantastic. There is a fridge, microwave, and great tv. You have luggage rack-something I LOVE-and an in-room coffee maker. There was an ample desk, roomy closet and an iron. Everything was so so so clean. I actually wished I could have transported this hotel down to New Orleans. It was so ideal and I felt sad I only got to stay one night on the way down and one night on the way back. I was so comfortable and there is this cute little corner shelf I put my bag of beads on. The hallways were clean and the hotel was quiet. I slept very well. On the way back, my room was right beside the elevator, which was super nice. And on my trip on the way home, the clerk was so very nice and friendly. The parking lot is well-lit with ample parking. There are lots of gas stations around and food places. The hotel is right off the highway. It really is the PERFECT place to stay. read more

The beds were comfortable. That's the best aspect of this hotel and really what you want for an overnight. Our room was modern including having usb charging ports. The bathroom fixtures were up to date. The free breakfast was gross. Eggs looked like reconstituted powdered egg and the sausage patties had identical grill marks on them hinting that they were precooked elsewhere and microwaved at the hotel. The coffee is dispensed from a machine and I'm sure was instant. I've had better coffee at gas stations. We stuck with the cold cereal and choked down a single cup of instant coffee. read more

We spent one very miserable night camping in a TORRENTIAL downpour, and though we made it through, we needed somewhere clean, dry, and with hot showers to recover. This was the perfect spot! Completely quiet, comfy beds, and appreciated the little touches towards sleep, even if we didn't use them (like the sleep tea and white noise app). If you're expecting to sleep at the Sleep Inn, you're wrong. At first glance, the building looks nice and modern from the outside, with a clean and stylish lobby. The room seemed fine at first glance as well, however: 1. The room had some issues with cleanliness, including: dirty grout (looked like toothpaste?) crusty substances on the bathroom wall, dust on the head board, unknown dried goop on the headboard, spots on the walls, rusted light fixtures and other moisture damage in the bathroom, etc. Nothing major, but it indicated a lack of thorough and frequent cleaning which should be a priority during a pandemic. If these things were obviously not clean, how do we know if the room gets vacuumed after every guest, if the sheets and linens are changed, or if the room is disinfected??? I wished I had some Clorox wipes with me to wipe things down. 2. The noise level. THE NOISE. We were located in a room right next to the elevator, which made a hefty CLUNK every time it was used, sometimes late at night or early morning. Even if we had been located farther down the hall, the insulation and sound proofing is non existent between rooms and levels. It sounded like a herd of elephants above us, and we could hear people talking at 6am, our neighbor's TV, kids shrieking, the elevator dinging and thumping, and pretty much every foot step and word spoken in a 50 ft radius of our room. Sleep was difficult as a result. 3. The pillows were not comfy and the blanket was too short for the bed. Only 2 towels were provided for two people staying for multiple nights. I'm sure they were available upon request, but I generally expect at least 4 towels per room. The towels were too small to wrap around an entire body, and I am not a large person. 4. The pool is very very small. 5. At 8:50 in the MORNING with checkout at 11am, somebody tried to barge into our room as we were half dressed! What on earth??! If checkout is at 11, I don't expect anybody to be bothering us or trying to clean the room until that time! They hadn't done that the previous day, why on our last morning?? 6. We asked to switch to a room on the 3rd floor, but apparently the 3rd and 2nd floors were entirely booked, despite the parking lot only filled to maybe 1/4th capacity. 7. The WiFi was awful. Here are the pros: 1. The TV and lamps worked. 2. The water pressure and temperature were great. 3. Refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. 4. Plenty of storage space and counter space. 5. The desk clerk was friendly. 6. No smell of cigarette smoke. Overall, I cannot recommend staying here and will not stay again due to the noise alone, although I have definitely stayed in worse places in the past. This was not the restful getaway we were hoping for at all, but this place was the least expensive in the area at $60 a night and seemed like a nice place. I've been a Choice Hotels member for several years, and am generally pleased with their locations, so I'm unsure why this one was so unsatisfactory in comparison. I don't think there is much they can do to improve the sound issue at this point, but they can definitely improve their cleaning regimen. read more

Stayed here twice now, once on the way down to Florida and same place on the way back. First time was sketched out a bit by hair in the shower but decided to give it another try bc it is cheap and we are using it for just one night. This time around, things look cleaner in our room and the staff at front desk were very helpful in getting us a crib for our room. I'd give more of a 3.5 stars instead of a 3, lower than a 4 just because of our first experience being off, but a big thank you to the friendly staff for being attentive and nice! read more

I made a reservation for 2 king suites recently. We have generally been happy with Sleep Inn. However, this stay was quite disappointing. We were surprised that one of the rooms was not cleaned very well. There were some food crumbs on the bedsheet in oneoftherooms. The beds were made in a hurry and sloppily. There was also some debris on the floor in both rooms. The sheets, some of the towels and furniture had stains on them. The towels were quite worn-out (see pics). The shower floor was not installed well and the water did not drain. There was a handle missing on the door of our floor from the stairs so we could not get to our rooms via the stairs. The front desk was contacted but apparently the cleaning staff had already left. We were given clean bed sheets and had to change them ourselves. The lady at the front desk promised to leave a message for the manager. To date, the manager has not contacted me. The only highlight was the breakfast and the the ladies running it were excellent. read more

We arrived with 3 kids after driving most of the day, so very much ready to just rest and sleep. The hotel was very nice, room was clean, bathroom spacious. The A/C worked amazing. Cooled the room quickly just as we prefer. But the beds were the best part! yeah, seriously! We all slept like a dream, woke up feeling great, no sore necks, headaches, or pinched nerves in the back. I love the Cave City area, and we will definitely be staying here next time we are down this way, and looking for them in whatever other area we are in! Oh, and the hot breakfast selection was great. Clean room. Nice staff. Water did not seem to warm up at sink so I avoided a morning shower. Boasts indoor pool, but it was closed for unknown reason. Went on a recommendation of a friend who said the pool was also closed for them 3 weeks ago. So if traveling with kids and are hoping to let them blow off steam in the pool, check to see if it's open first. In the morning a man in a room a few doors down, across the hall on the first floor was standing out his door letting me know there were bed bugs. His wife was near the bed and showed us a line of bed bugs on the mattress seam. They had been there awhile they were scurrying around. It started with the one on the his pillow. The police came but nothing came to it but him & his wife leaving. Our room was free of bed bugs. The staff were really hard working and nice. At check out our rooms comped. They are doing meal kits, which I didn't know when I booked, but I understand this is for COVID and is likely safer. The AC broke in the middle of the night. It was incredibly hot. After toying with it for a minute we could get some colder air flowing though. There was a huge stain on the floor. But the worst issue was the insanely loud people upstairs. They were galloping around from 9pm until 2am ish. We called the front desk at around 1, desperate for sleep. The nice lady said they'd handle it and about an hour later, it got a little quieter. The cell number that was given to text if we need anything did not work (see photo). I called the hotel manager twice after my stay to discuss things and they did not answer. The room itself was perfectly fine and was what I would expect for paying $89 on a weekday night. The common areas though were another story. The weather outside was 80 degrees and when I checked the thermostat in the hallway they had the heat on and set for 78. It was absolutely stifling. My husband said something and when we checked back a few hours later they had only turned it down to 76. At least the a/c in our room worked fine. The pool is super tiny about the size of two queen beds so don't expect to really be able to use it comfortably. My son took one look at the pool with about 8 other people in it and turns around and said he didn't want to bother. So then we checked out the game room and had a good laugh. There is a claw machine and one of the prizes is a cabbage patch baby and the rest are all knives. maybe this is a Kentucky thing but we thought it was disturbing. The breakfast area was completely trashed when we went down our first morning. They only had one person working doing clean up and set up so maybe it was too much for her or maybe it was just the clientele who were pigs. Sleep Inn & Suites is not very interesting to look at from the outside. As a matter of fact, it has a very Adams Family like quality, but inside you will find a modern decor and large attractive rooms. Our suite was very large. Two queen beds PLUS a pull out sofa sleeper. The mattresses were heavenly and we slept very well. The complimentary breakfast included all the usual items like milk, juice, cereal, bagels, toast, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit and danishes as well as some hot items like sausage, eggs and make-your-own waffles. The eggs were like mini-omelets and surprisingly had great taste. Other amenities/perks included an teeny-tiny indoor heated pool, nearby restaurants and a coin operated video game arcade. Although the pool was indeed small, our children didn't seem to notice as they quickly bonded with other kids also playing at the pool. In a sense, the intimate size of the pool caused the children to interact more. FINAL THOUGHTS If you are a fan of Holiday Inn Express, this Sleep Inn & Suites will suit both your eyes as well as your wallet. Excellent place to rest you head on a long road trip or when visiting nearby Mammoth Cave National Park. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Why wouldn't you use the first hold to pay for the room when you show up like other hotels? So 95$ is tied up for the rest of our vacation. This was a tightly budgeted vacation. There must be a lot of hotel staff rating this place as it is nothing beyond a two star. The site seems to have only undergone a partial renovation. Breakfast's highlight was lumpy, all-gravy and biscuits served out of a CROCK POT. There was NO water pressure in the shower, seating in the breakfast area was for 20, and the pool was the size of a large bathtub. On the positive side, everything was clean. Stay again? Great experience! We checked in without a reservation and Summer, the clerk on duty, was amazingly nice, friendly and helpful. She was very knowledgeable and ready to help our family have a good stay. The price of the room was very fair. Once we got to our room it was clean and well stocked with the basics. Beds are amazingly comfortable both soft and supportive. Excellent for relaxing after a long day of driving. Shower has good water pressure and bathroom was good overall. The pool, although a bit on the small side, was clean and also well stocked with towels. The whole poolroom was clean and well cared for. The fitness room had a few exercise machines and was a nice addition to our stay. The free breakfast had the basics: cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, mini muffins and warm food such as waffles, eggs, sausage and toast. It also tasted good. The dining area was kept very clean and well stocked. This place was awesome to stay at and I would recommend to any traveler. If the future I will seek out Sleep Inns for our stays! read more

I've stayed in about 10 different sleep inns, always loved my stay from how clean the rooms were, comfy beds and how affordable it is! But BY FAR, THE WORST SLEEP INN!!! Room seemed fine, until I woke up in the morning to TINY ANTS IN MY PURSE THAT I LEFT ON THE DESK!!! Come to find out there's a trail of them crawling from under the desk, up it and onto the top. Thankfully left no food on the desk, or in my purse, yet found at least 30 tiny little ants. DISGUSTING! I have NEVER had this type of experience at ANY hotel and for a sleep inn especially, very shocking and I am LIVID! Got swapped to a different room, better but about 10 dead lady bugs around the room. Clearly cleaning isn't their top priority, as well as their customer service to addressing this AWFUL experience. Decent for the price. Beds are comfortable. Staff members are kind of wearing a mask. Most have it on their mouth, with their nose sticking out. Most guest are wearing mask, but they aren't enfircing them to people who aren't. The breakfast is slim pickings. They take your order and serve you. Cold cereal, toast, yogurt, and fruit. The fitness room, pool and game room is for 5 people only. The pool is super tiny! So if your choice is based on the pool, then keep looking.
