I LOVE this hotel! I always stop in Cave City the first night I'm travelling to Mardi Gras every year and will ALWAYS stay here every year going forward. If you read my review of last year's stay, you know what a disaster that was. I have RA and the desk clerk told me I couldn't have a first-level room (no elevator there) and I had to lug my suitcases up two flights of stairs. I swore I would never stay there again, which led me to the Sleep Inn and Suites. They are the BEST! They have an elevator. This will make someone with a disability weep with joy. There is also an indoor pool. I didn't notice they had this amenity, but next year will pack a swimsuit. The only issue I had was with the desk clerk the first night. I had been driving all day for nine hours and arrived after dark. I was very tired. She seemed annoyed to see me, which made me annoyed. She had been on her cell phone talking to her friend, and when I showed up, she didn't like being interrupted (she was sitting on the couches that I assume are for the guests in the front lobby area). This really made me take pause, because my generation doesn't understand this being on your cell at work while you're being paid to work. I didn't like feeling like an annoyance to her, because, frankly, my staying at your place of employment KEEPS you employed. I have found though, that when people are in this type of mood, it's because they are usually going through something, so I made a point to be overly nice. She did seem to warm up to me, so check-in went smoothly. As soon as I was taken care of, I proceeded to make three trips in to bring in my stuff. She immediately went back to the couch, and I could hear from her conversation that there was trouble with a boy. Yes, that is upsetting, and I did feel for her, been there, but in my experience, you leave that at the door when you come to work. That generation continues to astound me with what they think is okay to do at work. I did address this with a manager when asked how my stay was later, and they did take steps to solve the problem, but that was minor to me. I've seen so much worse. When I saw the room, all troubles melted away. The only thing lacking was that the mattress could be a bit softer, but the rooms are HUGE! The walk-in shower is fantastic. There is a fridge, microwave, and great tv. You have luggage rack-something I LOVE-and an in-room coffee maker. There was an ample desk, roomy closet and an iron. Everything was so so so clean. I actually wished I could have transported this hotel down to New Orleans. It was so ideal and I felt sad I only got to stay one night on the way down and one night on the way back. I was so comfortable and there is this cute little corner shelf I put my bag of beads on. The hallways were clean and the hotel was quiet. I slept very well. On the way back, my room was right beside the elevator, which was super nice. And on my trip on the way home, the clerk was so very nice and friendly. The parking lot is well-lit with ample parking. There are lots of gas stations around and food places. The hotel is right off the highway. It really is the PERFECT place to stay.

I don't know what these stains are but maybe it's time to replace the chair.

The beds were comfortable. That's the best aspect of this hotel and really what you want for an overnight. Our room was modern including having usb charging ports. The bathroom fixtures were up to date. The free breakfast was gross. Eggs looked like reconstituted powdered egg and the sausage patties had identical grill marks on them hinting that they were precooked elsewhere and microwaved at the hotel. The coffee is dispensed from a machine and I'm sure was instant. I've had better coffee at gas stations. We stuck with the cold cereal and choked down a single cup of instant coffee.

If you're expecting to sleep at the Sleep Inn, you're wrong. At first glance, the building looks nice and modern from the outside, with a clean and stylish lobby. The room seemed fine at first glance as well, however: 1. The room had some issues with cleanliness, including: dirty grout (looked like toothpaste?) crusty substances on the bathroom wall, dust on the head board, unknown dried goop on the headboard, spots on the walls, rusted light fixtures and other moisture damage in the bathroom, etc. Nothing major, but it indicated a lack of thorough and frequent cleaning which should be a priority during a pandemic. If these things were obviously not clean, how do we know if the room gets vacuumed after every guest, if the sheets and linens are changed, or if the room is disinfected??? I wished I had some Clorox wipes with me to wipe things down. 2. The noise level. THE NOISE. We were located in a room right next to the elevator, which made a hefty CLUNK every time it was used, sometimes late at night or early morning. Even if we had been located farther down the hall, the insulation and sound proofing is non existent between rooms and levels. It sounded like a herd of elephants above us, and we could hear people talking at 6am, our neighbor's TV, kids shrieking, the elevator dinging and thumping, and pretty much every foot step and word spoken in a 50 ft radius of our room. Sleep was difficult as a result. 3. The pillows were not comfy and the blanket was too short for the bed. Only 2 towels were provided for two people staying for multiple nights. I'm sure they were available upon request, but I generally expect at least 4 towels per room. The towels were too small to wrap around an entire body, and I am not a large person. 4. The pool is very very small. 5. At 8:50 in the MORNING with checkout at 11am, somebody tried to barge into our room as we were half dressed! What on earth??! If checkout is at 11, I don't expect anybody to be bothering us or trying to clean the room until that time! They hadn't done that the previous day, why on our last morning?? 6. We asked to switch to a room on the 3rd floor, but apparently the 3rd and 2nd floors were entirely booked, despite the parking lot only filled to maybe 1/4th capacity. 7. The WiFi was awful. Here are the pros: 1. The TV and lamps worked. 2. The water pressure and temperature were great. 3. Refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. 4. Plenty of storage space and counter space. 5. The desk clerk was friendly. 6. No smell of cigarette smoke. Overall, I cannot recommend staying here and will not stay again due to the noise alone, although I have definitely stayed in worse places in the past. This was not the restful getaway we were hoping for at all, but this place was the least expensive in the area at $60 a night and seemed like a nice place. I've been a Choice Hotels member for several years, and am generally pleased with their locations, so I'm unsure why this one was so unsatisfactory in comparison. I don't think there is much they can do to improve the sound issue at this point, but they can definitely improve their cleaning regimen.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again. At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology. I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog. Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd? Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working) This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will not be back.

One of those roadside attractions that you really have to experience sometime in your life if you like quirky things. Apparently this is only one of three of these teepee villages left in the country after many more have been torn down. So I made my reservations online and less than a year later, we arrived! Keith and Megan are the owners and Keith greeted us and gave us quite the verbal tour and history. Him and Megan bought it five years ago and they are slowly updating everything to the original 1937 design but also keeping updated amenities in mind too. We stayed in number 10 and even though it has not been restored yet it was still clean and they put work into at least keeping it current until it gets a full restoration. The only complaint I had was there was not a lot of horizontal space to set things down. No nightstands either because it's a very tight space. No table at all in the bathroom either so it was hard to use toiletries. The air conditioner is in the window but eventually there will be a silent mini split installed and I can't wait to see that! The whole playground and fire pit area is completely vintage looking but still maintained. Guests came and went and it was always fun to watch different sets of kids enjoy all of the activities. We had a fire every night and Keith had one or two cats follow him down from his house who joined us and let us give them all the love. This was definitely a great stay and I'm looking forward to doing it again someday but I definitely want to stay in one of the more updated teepees. But they made it clear that anything we needed, we could just ask. Very nice people and you can tell they are really putting some love and TLC into this place. It might take a while to get it back there but they are not just skating by. The big teepee out front that used to be a restaurant and gift shop is going to be a coffee shop someday as well. Excited to see what happens in the future!

I always need to stop in Kentucky or Tennessee on the way down and back at the halfway-ish point. I had enough Airmiles to book this hotel both on the drive down and the trip back. I arrived in the early evening both times and was greeted by the same clerk. She was friendly and we even joked around about Mardi Gras when I came back. It was nice she remembered me. Check-in was easy and hassle-free. I've had other hotels double charge me or put a big hold on my card for 'incidentals,' but they didn't do that. They just ran the card in case any charges were incurred, but they never charged anything to it. The first stay, I had a room with two double beds. I booked that way, wasn't paying attention. I prefer a king-sized bed. That was what I had on the way back and, although the double bed wasn't super uncomfortable, the king bed offered a far better sleep. It was VERY comfortable. But I had a great sleep both nights. The entire hotel is one floor, so no stairs to mess with. I was in a room at the back the first stay, but it was still a very short walk from the car: easy in/easy out. Even better the second stay. I was in room 102 and got to park right in front of my room door. The fast unload and load up the next morning was greatly appreciated. The area was well-lit and felt very safe with other businesses close by. I travel alone most times, so that is important. The rooms were very clean and provided anything you might need. There was only one little spot where it looked like some lotion was mashed into the carpet by the bathroom door, but that would be very difficult to get out with a routine cleaning. Everything else was very clean. Each room was large and had my three must-haves when travelling: in-room coffee maker, fridge for cream when on the go and a luggage rack for my huge suitcase so I don't have to bend over to root through it. This hotel also did something I haven't seen at other places that made me very happy: the in-room coffee packs. I like a LOT of coffee in the morning and they provided six packs of regular (there was decaf too, but I see zero point in that lol). Most places only give you two. I had early mornings to start a long drive and really appreciated that extra coffee. The morning clerk was also super friendly at checkout and wished me a safe drive. There are also many gas stations around and places to eat as well. If you make the very well worth it drive to Turtlelinis for pizza, there is a convenience store around the corner that is stocked as well as a small grocery store. So, if you want a clean comfortable place to stay that provides extra amenities like the fridge and microwave and lots of coffee, I definitely recommend the Super 8 Wyndham Cave City! We did not take advantage of these options only because we were a little beat coming back from our Cave tour early in the day. Checking in was a breeze, the clerk was very friendly, got to love this area of the country, we find friendly folks are plentiful. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, bread items, oj and more. We fueled up ;) on the eats for the next part of our journey. There is a cute gazebo area out the backdoor to sit at while enjoying your meal, how special is that. Remember this is a Super 8, so realize it's not going to be fancified, but it is definitely good enough. The room was quite clean too! Yes I'd stay here again.

Also possibly homophobic? I reserved a single king for us but again he just decided to give us a room with two beds instead. Like what even? We got one of the rooms upstairs. The shower was the only okay thing. The A/C unit was functional but spastic once it got to the thermostat setting as it would hum to life only to be on for a minute at most. I'm reviewing this as it is. I don't review hotels with lesser stars as if they should be some luxury spot. This is a budget-friendly place that provided everything I needed. You can clearly see that it is an older property, but they have put in the work to keep it up. The paint looked new and the floors looked new too. The place was spotless. Bed was very comfortable. TV worked and there was a good selection of channels. Luggage rack was in the room, which I love. You can get your large suitcase up to grab level and open it up without lugging up and down off the bed or a table. There was a desk with a chair, VERY clean fridge and microwave - in fact the over-the-top 'fancy' hotel I stayed at in The Quarter didn't have a fridge but they brought one and it was disgusting. This place was a fraction of the price nightly and had more amenities and was cleaner. There was even a little safe in the room. It had far more extras than some of the pricey places I've stayed before. Lots of lighting and the lamps had electrical outlets, always love that. You got an in-room coffee maker, iron and board, little soaps, lots of clean towels. The bed was soft enough, which is rare. I have RA and a hard, stiff mattress hurts my joints worse. I always get in later with the long drive, and the front desk clerk was very friendly. Always nice after being in the car all day. I had a room on the first floor and parking spot outside the door. The door to the room would stay open, and I usually don't leave it open for safety, but I felt fine unloading the car like that. No one was around (a Wednesday night) and there was so much light in the parking lot. Didn't worry about my car at all. It was cold and snowing, and the heater worked great. A fabulous place to stay for the night...or even the week. Great sleep, coffee in the morning with cream I brought and could put in the nice fridge. Felt very safe as a woman traveling alone and had a wonderful sleep. Bonus was the very easy in and out loading, and a more than fair price. Would definitely stay here again and do recommend!

After several nights on the road with uncomfortable beds, I felt like weeping with gratitude when I sat down on the comfortable bed. A good night's sleep in a comfortable bed with comfortable temperature in a location I felt safe in. Definitely would stay here again.

We had an odd experience because they were filming a movie on site that prevented us from seeing much of the public areas. The movie was a religious film that required burning a cross the night we stayed (yes...I'm being for real and not exaggerating). Also, the movie crew was kinda noisy. The place is extremely dated. It has obviously not been updated since the 70's. That said, it was clean and well maintained considering. My only real complaint about the room is that the air conditioner was not big enough to keep the room cool. If you like rustic and inexpensive, then this is the place for you.

Stayed there as a kid in the mid-70's and the place literally hasn't changed! Well, the pool is…read moreclosed and the mini golf is gone. Tennis court should be fixed or removed. The planters didn't have flowers but the weeds were lovely. Seriously, inside was clean, staff was nice, a small bar with wine tasting was neat and clean looking. The rooms need a little updating. The windows and sills need to be cleaned. The small AC was at capacity to partially cool room. It was hot so not knocking it, it just isn't big enough. The room was large with big windows. They need curtains because the blinds won't fully block out the rising sun! I can't sleep late in a bright room. The furniture, probably original to the room, was clean and adequate. The mattress was ok, bedding was ok, too. I'd prefer some better pillows and something thicker than flat! The room was super clean except behind the table, which I wouldn't seen if I hadn't dropped something. The resort is very dated but charming. I'd prefer it as is and charming but with some modern day amenities. They should also spend a little to make it look nice out front! Kill the weeds and plant some flowers. It shows this place is for guys but hey, girls wanna have fun, too...in a nice place! Make it look good for them! Overall, I'd return.

They are very hands on, serving breakfast and covering the reception desk. The other staff are also very friendly and helpful. The inn is filled with a lot of memorabilia and old books. It if fun to look at it all. The nice thing is it is well kept, not dusty or moldy smelling. Lots of old pictures and photos. All the rooms have their own bathroom. Ours was compact but had all the necessaries. The room was comfortable. Like the rest of the inn it had old books and other antiques. The bed had a hand stitched quilt. It was comfortable. The light from the street lamps outside was bright so the room was not dark. I do not know what the rooms on the back were like. The television though small got over 100 channels. The train passed by 2 - 3 times a night so I was glad I had earplugs to help. Breakfast was not included and was $10 per person. It was served family style. Scrambled eggs, waffles and bacon served with juice and coffee. They are located off the Mammoth Cave Railroad trail and within 7 miles of the park. If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Mammoth Caves the Grand Victoria is a great option.
