    Bloody booger?
    Josh T.

We arrived and swam right away because we have been on the road and my little girl hasn't swam yet. We went back in, and started taking showers and turning down the beds. This place was filthy. Blood on a towel, bloody booger in the bathroom, and a bloodstain on the blanket. Dog found a baby wipe under the bed. The front desk guy was nice, and refunded us.

Staff here is weird and kind of rude. This is a bad hotel. Not worth the 79 to 120 dollar price. . We had no towels in our four person room. When we realized we had no towels at 7 am in the morning we called the desk and politely asked for towels. . They brought up two and then gave us the face when we asked for more for everyone in the room. It gets worse. The WiFi did not work at all. There was a signal but no one could get it to connect. The front desk said they it was down. My mom has to have creamer in her coffee. She went to the lobby and got coffee. (That's all they offer). Anyway she said she got the face when she asked for some. I guess carrying creamer is just to much for this staff. The place smelled like funk. It gets worse !!! WE HAD GERMAN COCK ROACHES (See pic) The small ones that get in your bag so that they can repopulate other areas. They were around the sink and some were even dead in the tub. Don't stay in this dump It was so bad for my family I'm going to avoid this franchise from now on. Last little side note. I heard a guest saying she paid 120 for a room. We paid 90 dollars. The reason I'm saying this is that they kept saying all the rooms were booked trying to up our price. Luckily I had received a rate online. My wife noticed that the hotel was never more that 50 percent full during our on night stay. Just be aware of this.

This place was bad. Bed like a rock. Stained carpet. Broken windows . We left. Was scared to sleep there.

There's fresh-fruit-flavored cold water, big chocolate chip cookies, and a cappuccino machine by check in counter. The reception area, hallways, & bedrooms are clean. The only drawback is the small gym with limited equipment & no hand weights. You can do cardio, but impossible to do proper strength training with what they have. We had 2-queen bedrooms. NO CONNECTING ROOMs, although it's noted to be available online. Our bedroom & bathroom were reasonably spacious & stocked with basic toiletries. We really liked the breakfast options. Although the dining room is small, they have more variety of breakfast totems than most places (even the more expensive ones). Here are the list of their breakfast choices: - hot items: pancake-covered sausage on a stick, scrambled eggs, mini sausages, biscuit & gravy, Texas-shaped Belgian waffle (you make it on site with a waffle maker) - continental: bread, bagels, prepackaged cinnamon rolls, prepackaged cheese pastry, breakfast bars, prepackaged blueberry muffins. - fresh fruit: apples, clementines, bananas, blueberries - others: yogurt, oatmeal, 3 types of cereals, peanut butter, jellies, chocolate chips, butter - drinks: coffee, milk, non-dairy milk, OJ, apple juice.

I managed to get one here for a bit more than I would have liked to spend, but the hotel was nice, the room was clean, and the limited staff I came in contact with were all lovely. When I arrived around 4pm, the woman at the front desk was unfortunately letting the customer in front of me know that their room was not ready, as a large football team had stayed the night before and left late, leaving their cleaning crew scrambling to get rooms cleaned for the new influx of SFA family members. She was very apologetic. I assumed that meant my room would also be delayed, but when she asked my name, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was actually ready. My guess is that the other couple likely requested a king room, whereas I had opted for double queen room so my kiddo could get a break from her dorm for one night. As I mentioned, the room was very nice and clean as were the public areas. Even the cleaning lady I walked past to get to my room was very friendly. If you're ok with the price, I'd highly recommend this location.

Unfortunately, my experience after actually arriving was very different. I traveled to Lufkin for work and chose to stay here because of how close the hotel was to my work location. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hotel staff, who were absolutely phenomenal and very kind. Honestly, the staff is what makes this review so disheartening to write. My first room had baby roaches in it, and to be clear, I did not have any open snacks or food in the room. On days two and three, I continued coming back to ants in the sink, which was already frustrating. However, the worst part was waking up to roaches in the bed. I even left one of the roaches underneath a cup so the staff could see it. When the room was cleaned, the towels were replaced, but the roach was still there underneath the cup. I checked out on Friday and returned on Sunday, when I was placed in a different room. Thankfully, I did not experience any pest issues in the new room, but I did have another concern the door did not lock properly. Another disappointment was the pool. We were really looking forward to spending some time by the pool after work, but it was green and clearly not usable. That would have made the work trip much more enjoyable. Again, I truly want to acknowledge how wonderful and helpful the staff members were throughout my stay. They were the highlight of the experience. However, because of the roaches, ants, bed issue, door not locking, and the condition of the pool, I unfortunately do not see myself returning in the future.

I told the front desk that I would have to leave the next day for another hotel if the wifi I paid for doesn't work. He agreed. Then when I checked out the next day they charged me for early checkout. The attendant got combative and sarcastic when I said I wouldn't be paying any fees when it's THEIR fault, asking her about the sign on the wall regarding their apparently BOGUS "Satisfaction Guaranteed" sign, and she said "what, the sign that we're certified" talking about a completely different sign, when she knew better. She then said "all the sign means is that we try hard" which is ABSURD. WORDS MEAN THINGS and that's NOT what "GUARANTEE" MEANS. She then said she doesn't have the authority to remove the extra charge. If so then SHE SHOULDN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WORKING THERE. A hotel SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNSTAFFED. If there is NO ONE ON PREMISIS with the authority TO DO BUSINESS, then you SHOULDN'T BE IN BUSINESS. When calling the manager to have the charge removed, the manager was ugly to my representative and lied, claiming they "were unable to remove the charge" which resulted in wasted time getting with Expedia to remove it, thinking it was theirs. They told us it had nothing to do with them. So it was a LIE that they were "UNABLE" to remove the charge. They were UNWILLING to remove the charge. Again, WORDS MEAN THINGS. After being told that no, it WASN'T Expedia's charge it was THEIR charge, the woman said yes, they refuse to refund it because I was offered internet access in the "business room". SO WHAT???? If there was no running water in my room, it's NOT OK to say "well, we offered him to take a shower in front of everyone in the lobby". No, I PAID FOR INTERNET IN MY ROOM, for me to take care of my business while simultaneously doing other things in my own room. I DID NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR and you WILL NOT charge me for YOUR failure.

The lady working was very polite, had her mask on and you speak through a drive thru window that slides. I actually liked that considering Covid ... for the worker and myself. Anyway, she was quick to let me see one, I walked in, it's definitely newer or updated but it was CLEAN!! No stains, the bathroom and sink area spotless. I wish I had taken photos beforehand to post with this review. The bed was comfy, you can hear some road noise but I'm a lighter sleeper than my husband, he slept like a rock. Overall, it's not bad and we will stay here again when needed because this is a route we frequently travel. I always look online for reviews and this one had no current ones, some on Priceline or Booking but even those were old. This is definitely a hidden gem and I could tell it's mostly working travelers .. parking lot was empty at 3pm, we left to dinner at 6 and it was mostly work trucks. And I could hear several starting early morning ... this is not a complaint, it means good folks are taking advantage of this establishments reasonable prices and clean rooms.

The breakfast was WAY better than the place we stayed at the prior nights in Dallas. They don't always have the same things we were told but they had sausage links, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, biscuits, biscuit gravy, make your own waffles with fruit, yoghurt, oatmeal, cereal, ham slices, bagels, a ton of bread, and a wide selection of fruit juices. They also have a pretty good selection of frozen dinners and snacks that you can buy at the front office. The staff was also super courteous during our stay. The only things I can see that could annoy picky people: 1. Our AC emitted a small sound, but we didn't care because we were really tired and the beds were comfortable. Didn't bother us at all. 2. Guy in the morning power washes off dirt in the parking lot. He sprayed some mud onto the truck we came in. We weren't really bothered since it rained soon after and that washed it off. Some areas he didn't wash too well and if you stepped onto some mud, it was super slippery. Overall, great place and we would definitely come here again if we visit the area.
