Do not stay here! This place was disgusting. The outside of the building looked fine, and the lobby also looked fine, but do not be deceived. The route to our room was difficult because we had to go down a long hallway then through an exit door then up another back stairway. But, we only knew this because we ran into a woman who gave us the directions and in this conversation, let us know that she not only lived in this facility, but she also worked here and she knew how difficult it was to manage these hallways and stairways. The outside exit door was being propped open by a combination garbage can/ashtray that were both brimming over with garbage and cigarette butts. Not only was this gross, the open door is also a security risk, as this exit door was around the back of the building. I removed this receptacle and closed the door. As we approached our room, #262, the hallway was clearly not clean and very cold from the outside air coming in. When we finally reached our room and opened the door, the smell of old, dirty carpet was what immediately greeted us. The rest of the room appeared to be clean, the bed was nicely made, and there was a Jacuzzi bathtub in the good size bathroom. The bathroom looked clean so we took advantage of the Jacuzzi tub and had a good night sleep. We did notice, however that there were two cigarette burn marks in the comforter that was on the bed, neither of us smoke and this was a non-smoking room. The shower in the morning was good, with good water pressure, though the plastic holder that holds the shampoo and the conditioner on the wall was broken and not replaced. The shampoo had been replaced, but was sitting on the bathtub unopened. That was fine, but it does speak to the fact that there is no attention to detail when this room was being cleaned. The room air conditioner seemed to be locked in on one setting, it did cool the room, but if another customer would want to change the settings that would not have been possible. Now, let's go down to breakfast. On our trek to the breakfast area, through the long hallway on the first floor, we became very aware of an unpleasant smell, which we soon realized was coming from many of the rooms occupied by long-term people living there. This was evidenced by a welcome mat in front of one door, and decorations on other doors. There was a dead plant in one of the hallways, an E bike parked in another hallway, and in one of the hallways there was some kind of electrical device being charged. It was very clear that this 'extended stay' hotel was not just extended stay for travelers, but living quarters for people. These hallways were filthy, as in they had not been vacuumed, but they were also very old and had that old dirty, nasty carpet smell as well. When we reached the actual breakfast area, there were a group of people who clearly knew each other gathered around the various food trays, some still in pajamas looking as if they had just rolled out of bed, chatting with each other and piling heaps of food onto plates, heading back to their rooms with no realization that travelers were there trying to get breakfast as well. One of the women actually pushed me out of the way so that she could get to the tray with hot sausages, stating that she prefers the biscuits and gravy that they usually have, but the sausages will have to do for today. The juice machine was totally out of order. The bread case had two crusts of bread and a few bagels, but we were not going to eat any of that as it did not look clean. We did put four sausage patties on a plate as they were hot and fresh, and we did take a couple small containers of Jif peanut butter back to the room with us, choosing not to eat in the 'dining area' as it was filthy. So, trying not to be judgmental here, but it seems as though some of the people who live here also work here. Clearly, the woman that we met in the stairwell lives here and works here as she told us, but also another woman that we saw in the breakfast area had a set of keys and a badge, speaking to one of the other women, neither one of these women were wearing a uniform indicating that they were employees of the establishment. Upon check out, when I spoke with the morning clerk, she seemed to think that everything was fine, and would I tell her about our experience. I did request a business card for this establishment, but they do not have them. I also asked for the name and contact information for the owner, but she said that she did not know who that was. I chose not to take the time to discuss our dissatisfaction with her. We chose this hotel because the night before we had stayed in another Quality Inn and Suites in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it was wonderful. Quite the opposite of our experience here. I checked into this hotel only because every surrounding property was booked, and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. We paid $120 per night, and the room was filthy from the moment we walked in. The blanket and sheets had multiple stains -- both known and unknown --, and we had to request clean linen immediately. The shower head was improperly installed, spraying water everywhere, including onto the floor and my hair. Later, we discovered a hole in the tub because it had leaked into the wall, soaking my husband's bag and clothes. Maintenance came to vacuum up the water, but afterward, the smell of mold began to fill the room. We had an event the next morning and didn't have time to move hotels. The front desk clerk promised to adjust the price and give us the next night for $60. I agreed only because of the time crunch -- and that turned out to be a mistake. Not only did the issues continue, but the price was never adjusted, and I was charged full price. To make matters worse, that night a roach crawled toward my plate while we were eating. I haven't seen a roach in years, and I never expected to see one in a hotel room. I was told the manager would call me, and I'm still waiting. I will never stay at this hotel again. The conditions were unacceptable, unsafe, and unsanitary. I would not give 1 star, but you have to give at least 1to write a review. read more

THEFT WARNING THEFT WARNING I was a guest at Quality Inn Marion, IL the weekend of June 6-8. My room was broken into and I had approximately $500 of items stolen. The hotel staff has been uncooperative and unhelpful ever since. I filed a police report as soon as I noticed the missing items. The Marion police came quickly, took a full report and investigated the room. The hotel has some security cameras supposedly. The police were able to review cameras from that day, but the cameras on my floor were not working. I don't expect the police to turn up anything, of course. The police officers did tell me that I am not the first person to have items stolen from this hotel. I have spoken to the hotel manager a couple times each week since then and he has nothing to offer. He has been dismissive at best. No reimbursement or even a room comp. It is a bargain hotel so I certainly wasn't expecting even 3-star service, but this is atrocious. The room was not very clean, the complimentary breakfast only has a few items of prepackaged rolls, no one on staff provided any assistance. There is nothing safe and secure about this hotel. I definitely DO NOT recommend this hotel. read more

Easy to find, easy parking, easy check-in. The night clerk was extremely professional and personable. She remained polite when I expressed my concerns about the reports of bedbugs and poor sanitation. I won't bore you with my horror stories of sketchy experiences when traveling on a low budget. I asked pointedly if she herself would stay in the rooms there. Yes, and the bedbug problem had been solved. Her honest response made me decide to stay, and I am glad I did. The breakfast was better than average and well stocked even at 8:30 AM. Our room was extremely clean and the sheets were new and pleasant to sleep on. All this in spite of reading all the negative reviews! And we arrived after 9 PM, when all the good rooms are usually taken. The marquee's sign said the hotel had been recently refurbished, making me suspect that the update took place over time and some rooms were still in bad shape up until recently. As far as Quality Inns go (across the nation over the last three decades) this location was in the top percentile. Choice Hotels has higher-end properties, but I don't normally need them for a single night's stay. I love a bargain just like anyone else! read more

I booked a double bed suite with a wall bed and mentioned to reservations that I needed beds for 1 adult and 6 kids. I also put in a request for an extra cot to be in there. Reservations confirmed that this was possible. I wanted to treat my sister with a hotel break for their 14 hour drive. My sister and I both spoke to the hotel front desk the day of to make sure everything was set before their arrival. The woman at the front desk confirmed that they would be in a suite large enough for one adult and 6 children. When they arrived, the hotel put my sister and her kids in a honeymoon suite with one king bed and a pullout couch. The bathroom had no door on it, but a see through curtain. You can not have little boys and girls in one room with a bathroom that has a sheer curtain. Plus, you could see on the sides of the curtain. There was also no extra cot. So my sister asked to be moved to another room and they just gave her a room with two double beds. Three of the children had to sleep on the floor. I got confirmation on Sunday from the front desk agent, that worked Friday night, that there was another woman with their kids that had a similar issue. That woman was given two room as a "sorry for the mix-up" I also heard they had plenty of rooms to spare that night. I called and spoke with the manger, Regina, who tried to convince me that the curtain shouldn't have been a problem for them and that I shouldn't have tried to book a room with that many people in the first place. She said there was nothing she can do- no refund- nothing. I also e-mailed the general manager and heard nothing back. They didn't care that the children had no door on the bathroom and three of them had to sleep on the floor because of their mix up. If I were the front desk agent, I would have done everything I could to make sure the children were well taken care of. read more

No butts about it this is a smokers hotel. Butts outside, butts and smoke smell inside. Butt when you're a tired traveler with a pet the brain filters out all of this for a bed. The breakfast looks continental butt there were enough people I had to do the breakfast room chacha. Excuse me, excuse me, etc. if you're a dancer you'll delight in the waltz. First things first, the staff are friendly and that's important since they're your first impression upon arrival. Next to get to our room it's outside, around the corner which isn't terrible but if the weather was anything but nice that stinks. Speaking of stinks, our room smelt of moldy water as soon as we walked in. We need with the unit and thankfully had a brand new air freshener in the car. The bathroom was also covered in short black hairs from the previous guest(s). Didn't bother to inspect anything else. We stayed here for a wedding in town and liked that this place had an outdoor pool, so we could have a vacation feel. The pool wad nice but limited on chairs. If a family was there first you gotta be lucky to score some chairs. Water was clean and pool seemed kept up with. Pool isn't huge but it gets the job done. OVERALL if you just need a place to stay cheap and can look past a few minor things, stay here. But if you're a clean freak STEER CLEAR. read more

This place is a dump! Worst hotel I have ever been in. We asked for a non-smoking room and were given a room with a non-smoking sign on the door, which meant nothing! The room smelled like there were people present in the room smoking. They brought in a machine that was supposed to clean the air. It did nothing! Illinois law states that up to 25 percent of hotel or motel sleeping rooms may be designated as smoking rooms, provided they are on the same floor, contiguous and smoke from these rooms does not infiltrate into nonsmoking rooms. If you are a smoker this run down, outdated hotel may be for you. Otherwise don't waste your time, just keep on driving. We did not stay and drove on to Paducah, KY where there are many nice hotels. read more

This hotel was very disappointing. I had reserved a nonsmoking room but when I got there only a smoking room was available. We went to bed around 11 after a long day of driving and 3 different times after midnight there were knocks on the door. Once we got up and no one was there. Later at 1am there was another knock that woke me and I went to the door and it was the manager who said they were giving us new keys because they had accidentally deactivated ours. A note on the door would have been a much better way to resolve this then waking us up 3 times in the night. I couldn't fall back asleep. They also told me breakfast would be available until 10 but when I asked for one at 8:30 she thought they didn't have any left but then found one. Regardless of our experience of the smoking room and getting woken up multiple times in the night I still wouldn't want to stay at this quality inn, it was dingy. I don't know if it had been cleaned because there was some trash from other guests. The bed was nice. read more

I wish I had read the reviews for this place, Its awful. The Halls smell terrible, which should have been my first clue. I paid the little extra and got the suite, for the Whirlpool tub. It sounded so good after being on the road all day, I wouldn't have bathed my dog in the mold infested tub, not to mention the hairs that were stuck on the Jets. There was mold all along the walls in the bathroom area, the sink was filthy had some kind of nasty left from I can only guess the last visitor. The hotel is clean the front desk man Larry was very friendly and accommodating of our needs I had originally booked a room through Expedia. When we got here it was a smoking room and no pets allowed he adjusted our reservation to a non-smoking room and for ourlittle fur baby with us. Pleasantly surprised that the room has a mini fridge microwave coffee pot large flat screen TV and two queen-size beds all for $73 including tax We were given a room towards the back of the hotel and it was very quiet . This is by far the nicest Quality Inn in which we have ever stayed. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The hotel staff was very friendly. The outdoor swimming pool was very clean and well-kept. They had a very nice breakfast area. The hot breakfast was also very good. This hotel even had movies on DVD that you could check out during your stay. This hotel is also very conveniently located. It is right next to Cracker Barrel and the Hideout Steakhouse. The only reason I did not give this hotel 5 stars is because it is not totally smoke-free. You could definitely smell cigarette smoke in the hallways and lobby. Our non-smoking room, however, did not smell of smoke at all. read more

My car was one of three broken into the night of March 25-26, 2016. According to hotel management and the police, the area I was directed to park by the night staff has had recent vehicle break-ins and prowlers. There are no cameras on that side of the building, although the front and other side do have cameras. Had I remained parked in front of the lobby where I started, this would not have happened. My side passenger window was smashed in and nearly all of our property stolen from the car. I am now dealing a combined deductible of $1500 for auto and homeowners insurance in order to cover costs of having my car repaired and personal property replaced. Although the hotel staff was apologetic, this was not how I planned to end my week long vacation with my son. I will never forget the look of fear and confusion on my 12 year old's face when he realized what had happened. I filled out an incident report form with the hotel, have called and emailed, but have yet to receive any communication from the hotel since that time. read more

I travel quite a bit and stay here often. It is one of the better Quality Inn locations in the country. I always get a room upgrade and a "goodies" bag at check in for being a Choice Privileges member. The staff members have always been fantastic. Beds are decent with flat screen TVs with a good channel line up. Micro fridge in some rooms and jet tubs in some rooms. They do have a unique feature in the rooms. They have DVD players in each room and for a couple of bucks you can rent DVDs at the front desk. They actually have an updated and pretty good selection. Never tried the breakfast, but it is a hot breakfast with eggs and a meat. All in all another good stay. I would recommend this place for overnight stays. read more

I've been traveling from PA to CO and now back. This hotel is clean yet for $100, I'd expect that. There is a $15 pet fee. What I found particularly annoying was the blaring TV and the lacking customer service. I should have walked out when I felt it wasn't going to work... The guy working the front desk, told me my Triple A discount brought the price to $71 yet my pending charges were for almost $100 because of "taxes" which he failed to calculate when having me sign what I thought was the final charge. The pet fee was billed separately as well, which I find strange. All the paperwork and he couldn't tell me the final cost? As he said on the phone afterwards, no hotels do that. Final analysis... don't waster your time getting annoyed, keep driving to the next motel. I wish I had. read more

First off, this hotel is under renovation according to the signs, but it seems like Quality Inns in general have gone downhill in quality over the years. Check-in was no-hassle and quick, and the desk person friendly. The hotel smelled funny, especially in the hall. Room was dated and hallway carpet and walls were stained. The bed was very comfortable though, which is most important. Bathroom was newer and pretty clean except for a poor caulking job on the shower with some mildew. We did find a large roach in the bathroom in the morning and at that point I was outta there. 3 stars for being a typical Quality Inn that I only paid $45 dollars for, plus Priceline fees. read more

We got to town after a looonngg drive, arriving around 12:30am on 5/25. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Even when there was a slight issue with our keys, she came up to the room with us to make sure we could get in with the master key as back up. The hotel met our basic needs. Customer service at the front desk was very good. The bed itself was clean (no bugs); the sheets were clean and the bed itself was comfortable. The price was good (we appreciated the price of $135 for 2 nights). But the cleanliness and maintenance of the property wasn't as good as it could be. I was pleasantly surprised by the awards the hotel received in 2013 and 2014 (the plaques were hung on the wall to see when you check in). However, it would not meet expectations in 2016 to win any awards. The cleanliness of our room was fair (someone else's long hair stuck to the wall in the shower; the carpet near the baseboards were not fully cleaned) . Also, in general the property had the look of being run down. Our bathroom had wallpaper coming off the wall, and when you sit on the toilet, you could see a big chunk of wall paper just plain missing from the wall. The pool water could have been better cleaned; Around the pool, where you'd want to sit to enjoy the surroundings at a table, was a ladder (was there for the 3 days we were there), and a room's window screen was laying on the ground by the table in the pool area. The insulation around our window was coming off. None of the rooms had any sheer curtains so either the room was pitch dark or open for everyone to see (our room faced the parking lot, so we were forced to keep our curtains closed). Also, there was a big inconsistency as to whether a room might have a refrigerator and microwave or not. My sister across the hall had these amenities yet our king-size room did not. In addition, you have to verify that you receive the room type that you want (we required non-smoking and my sister had to call back twice to get the right room. Would have to think about whether I'd want to return to this hotel. read more

Rooms were spacious, but like I said dated. Refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen tv, no microwave though. Beds were decently comfy. Downside was breakfast, it was horrible. Waffles are safe, cereal was ok. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, and even the bagel was not good. Stayed at another quality inn and their breakfast was wonderful. I mean if you're staying here I would suggest going to Cracker Barrel across the way. Also the front desk staff and housekeepers in the morning were loud! Trying to enjoy breakfast as they're yelling across the lobby. And a housekeeper came and knocked on the door at 8:30 asking if we were out, uhhh check-out time is at 12:00 not 8:00 I then felt rushed to leave the hotel! read more
