The woman at the desk when we registered was so kind, friendly, and helpful. Our room was spotless and our stay very pleasant.

Absolutely Unacceptable - No Hot Water and a Frustrating Stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg…read more I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with my recent stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg from 05/17/25 to 05/18/25. While I had hoped for a comfortable and relaxing experience, my stay was significantly marred by the complete lack of hot water. From the moment I attempted to take a shower, I was met with nothing but cold water. This was not a temporary inconvenience; it persisted throughout my entire stay. Being unable to shower with hot water is simply unacceptable in any hotel, regardless of its price point. It made basic hygiene uncomfortable and frankly, unpleasant. Beyond the fundamental issue of no hot water, the way this problem was handled was equally frustrating. Upon check-out the manager on duty tried unsuccessfully to offer us a few points to resolve the situation and when we would not accept the points he became rude and unprofessional. I left a total four messages for the new Gerneral Manager Miranda Piper. Miranda avoided my calls and made no attempt to return any of my four messages. After discussing this issue with the front desk I was told they were aware of the issue prior to me booking my reservation however no one informed me that there was no hot water upon check-in. * "I contacted the front desk on 05/18 and was told they were aware of the issue. No follow-up or resolution was offered." * "When I inquired about the lack of hot water, the staff seemed indifferent and offered no explanation or timeframe for when it might be restored." * "I was told it was a 'building-wide issue' but no further information or alternative arrangements were provided." The lack of hot water significantly impacted my stay by making it difficult to relax, causing me to feel unclean, disrupting my morning routine. It is a basic amenity that I, and I believe any guest, should be able to rely on. I would strongly advise potential guests to consider this serious issue before booking a stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg. A comfortable stay necessitates basic amenities, and the complete absence of hot water renders this hotel far below acceptable standards. I will not be recommending Holiday Inn Express Richburg to anyone and will be hesitant to book here again in the future unless I receive assurances that such a fundamental problem has been rectified.

Let's start with the 2.5 hours it took to book... I am a Choice club member, and I had all the data…read morein. Pressed "book now"...server error, try again. I did. Dozens of times until the 15 minute window closed. Waited 15 minutes, tried again. Same. Called directly. Manager took my phone number and room request. Promised to call back. Half hour later, I went to booking.com. 3 tries later it went through. Told this to receptionist on check-in and was told the person who I spoke with was manager!?! Hotel is clean, room looked nice. However, sink was cracked. And then the clunking started. We heard something in the bathroom that sounded like it was randomly hitting the walls. It wasn't long, and stopped, so we laughed and went to sleep. At 5.45 the next morning, someone took a shower and it wasn't so random. End of our sleep. Then a second...I recorded it, got dressed and went to the desk. Played it for night desk person and showed him sink image. He added it to notebook. Went to room, more random clinking as other guests used their water. Quickly packed, headed for breakfast. Reported again, playing audio for morning manager. "So sorry". That's it. Meh Word of warning...nice looking hotel, but if you have any room issues no matter how late it is and unpacked...CHANGE ROOM.

She also cleaned and sanitized the breakfast eating area which was a blessing because I have been in some that you had to turn around and run away from. The room was clean and very comfortable. We stayed here for one night in late May while traveling from Winston-Salem, NC to Charleston, SC…read more We are Hilton loyal and especially like the Home2Suites line of Hilton properties. When we booked our reservation online about two weeks before arriving we could see it was a newer property and despite the low rating on Yelp the ratings on Google were 4.4 so we took our chances. We arrived about 9:15pm. The hotel is convenient to Interstate 77 and the parking lot was very well lit. We made our way inside and as usual we had checked in online so we headed straight to the elevator. The interior spaces were light and bright and looked to be well taken care of and you can tell this particular location is very new which is always nice. The hallways were also well lit and we noted the tall ceilings as well. Unfortunately our digital key on the Hilton app did not work and I had to go down to the front desk to get keycards while my wife waited with our luggage. Our room looked great! We appreciate the room layout and size of the king studio which is equipped with a kitchenette featuring a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, paper towels, real dishes along with a keurig coffee maker. We took a nice hot shower and settled in for the night. We slept well and had no issues. Our experience here was great except for the digital key not working. Therefore, we are giving this property 4 stars. We will absolutely stay here again!

They also provide a much nicer continental breakfast than other hotel chains. However, outside the hotel there is very little green space to walk your dogs. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout my stay. They were quick to assist with any questions or requests, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was the Gallery Restaurant. The breakfast served there each morning was phenomenal! The outdoor pool was also a highlight as it was relaxing, comfortable, and very well maintained. The service staff frequently checked in with guests, ensuring everyone had what they needed without being intrusive. My only real criticism is the parking fee. The hotel charges $20 per night for parking, which feels unnecessary given the already high nightly room rates. I believe parking should be included as part of the stay, especially at a property of this caliber. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would gladly return.

TL;DR: Beds not good, parking pain to depart, check in long wait. Positives indoor pool, afternoon…read moretea, gallery restaurant and spa. Not planning on returning unless for tea or brunch at gallery. I've now stayed here twice within 10 months. Both times I've found the staff quite kind and helpful. The rooms clean and as depicted. Hotel and grounds very well maintained. Love the walkability to restaurants and bars. Room Beds are not up to a luxury hotel standards. I found both beds to be a springy mattress with a worn out pillow top. Quite literally a pain on the back. Bedding is Frette and quite soft and cozy. Bathroom has Molton Brown products. Super bougie brand so I think that is on par with the hotel being luxury. I bring my own shampoo and conditioner because of my 3A curly hair doesn't get along with the shampoo and conditioner. Both the water pressure and hot levels are exceptional. I was not lacking warm water and did actually turn it a bit cooler than my usual setting at home. So I've a bit of a bone to pick on the minibar. There is a listed price for all the items. Great! Was a bit surprised on the bill to find the $3 can of soda and $18 container of dark sea salt chocolates to be listed as $3.99 and $22.41. That's more than the sales tax in Mecklenburg. Upon reading the fine print on the minibar there is a 24% service fee on top of the 8.25% sales tax. Given that the minibar is stocked and no one is running this items to the room like room service, I'm a bit confused on the service charge as anything but a small additional little money grab. Little sneaky and tacky vibes about it. Gallery restaurant I have written a separate 5 star review and very much so like the restaurant. Afternoon tea Afternoon tea I absolutely love and greatly enjoy. Lovely tea and tiered plate selections. This is a must for me, absolutely love it. I've attended with my partner as well as solo. Solo I sat and read a book it was great! Even if traveling solo still a lovely nice experience! Parking I think the price of parking has changed. It is now $20 to self park and $30 to valet. This is all clear on the app and website before booking. Spouse was understandably less than thrilled when he walked out to the car with all our luggage, loaded the car and began to drive to the hotel to pick me up only to be locked into the parking lot. The room key card that opens this parking was deactivated apparently at check out time. Well no one wants to be schlepping around in muggy hot weather at noon to come back to the hotel and find out why it isn't working. He had to have the card reactivated, then walk back to the car, then bring the car up. Waste of time and irritation. Hotel common space I found all common and public spaces clean and tidy. Both elevators have been working, in good service and clean. There is a complimentary coffee and tea station in the bar space in the morning. They also have some grab and go items for purchase. I made tea and drank it on the veranda. None of the grab and go items spoke to me so I went to the gallery restaurant. Spa I've been to the spa last trip and enjoyed my facial and massage. Mani pedi was ok... women's spa space has a sauna and steam room. A quiet waiting area with teas and water. Showers, restrooms and a locker space. Indoor pool Love that they have an indoor and outdoor pool. Super easy for me to get burned so I use the indoor ones. The interior space is quite lovely at the interior pool. A few notes of items needing attention. The rectangular hot tub has quite a thick layer of scrum on the tiles above the water level. Requested additional pillows when checking in ahead of time on the app. Those were not in the room and I had to request them. If you want a tea kettle in room you've to request that and tea. Wish it was easier in app or pre check in to do. I am not sure that we will be back anytime soon as I don't find their beds comfy and relaxing. Hotel, amenities, afternoon tea and brunch overall I like. I wish they would join other properties that had a memory foam type bed with a more firm supportive with slats. Rather than springy mattress on a box spring.
