On the positive side first: The SECOND room we got was better than the first. The refrigerator worked and wasn't too noisy - it actually did freeze ice in the freezer part. The curtain on the window kept out the morning sunlight. The closet was large enough. The TV worked. The night clerk was pleasant, although new. There were enough luggage carts. On the negative side: In the FIRST room we got, the heating system was not working, so we had to switch rooms. We checked in, turned the heat on, unpacked, and went out to dinner. Ninety minutes later, the room was still only 62 deg F. With the outside temp heading into the 30s that night, we knew it was going to get colder in that room, so we switched rooms. In our second room, there was mold on the shower curtain. There was a big crack in the sink, and there were water stains on the floor underneath. There weren't enough electrical outlets. The mattresses were soft and they sagged in the middle. The top cover on one of the double beds was dirty. The maid forgot to restock the toilet paper and Kleenex. The back security door had no security mechanism so anyone could walk into the hotel from the back without being noticed. The breakfast was awful - the eggs were overcooked and dry and the potatoes (tater tots?) were ROCK HARD and cold - I literally could not cut them with the plastic knife. Our key quit working in the morning and the night accounting clerk told me that probably someone inside had locked me out (instead of just making me a new key). The message light on our phone was blinking and no one at the front desk could figure out how to either retrieve the message or shut off the light. There was no card on the phone indicating what buttons to press to retrieve messages. The morning clerk was rude. At checkout, she never looked up or made eye contact. It took her over two minutes to figure out how to print our receipt, then what she printed wasn't our receipt but instead was our original reservation. We stay at Quality Inns frequently. This is the worst we've experienced, definitely not up to the standard of the brand. We had gotten complacent and would just book a Quality Inn because we thought we would know what to expect. Not so with this property. We'll have to go back to checking Yelp on every Quality Inn from now on. read more

This rating is derived entirely from survival-conscious business management in an era where our species faces extinction at our own hand. Absolutely unacceptable. Halls smell like smoke throughout the entire hotel. Ugly blue carpet and ugly wallpaper. My FIRST room hadn't been serviced when I came in, called the front desk and they said they'd fix it. I come back to the room about FIVE HOURS LATER, and it still had not been serviced. They told me that they had nobody to clean it. They give me another room all the way on the other side of the hotel. I get in and go to use the bathroom and find a green stain in the shower and a red stain in the caulk. The canvas print above the toilet was dirty, as was the bathroom counter and the walls. The closet door was off the track. Window was very dirty. Have not spent the night in the bed yet, but I'm sure there will be more fun surprises. Would NEVER come here again. read more

The staff when I checked in was extremely nice and personable. They were helpful and upgraded the room for us. However the room was dirty. We had a Jacuzzi tub that still had a ring around it and hair left over. The floor was not vacuumed. It was a good price for a hotel room,but lacked the pizzaz. This is a nice hotel located off of 30 across from Walmart in Valparaiso. Rooms are clean & cool in the summer. Their pool is like one I've never seen at a hotel. It is an indoor/outdoor all in one. Swim inside or dip under the glass & swim outside. Different, but pretty cool. Also has a hot tub in the pool area. Plenty of seating there too. read more

Things look nice on the surface, but it's a janky place when you look closely. When I was checking the room before leaving, I discovered why the heater wasn't warming the room well. The window wouldn't close all the way because the locking hardware had been removed, absolutely nothing to hold it shut. It was a first floor room in back. I went outside and found I could easily open it and climb in! The company offered me 2000 points to make right, but I don't trust them enough to ever go back, since they wouldn't tell me the steps they were going to take to prevent this happening again. Also, check for bedbugs. We found a carcass in my daughter's room, but no signs of any live or dormant critters. read more

Greeted by a wonderful staff. Public bathroom smell from the hallways. Rooms arent clean, blood stains on towels, and different other types of stains on sheets. And also there were hair in the bathroom. No food was left in breakfast. read more

We will never stay here again. The rooms were dirty, the mattress was very uncomfortable and our room had a mildew smell. The staff was trying their best to address our issues, I must give them credit. The owner needs to spend some money and clean the place up. read more

When we walked to our room the hall smelt horrible. As as we got closer to our room someone had left smelly socks out for two nights. The rooms don't have a screen on the windows so our room was filled with bugs and we spent hours trying to kill them because they had no other rooms available. They really need to do a good walk through and fix/clean around the building. read more

The previous review is eerily accurate to our experience...The manager here is the biggest scum bag we've ever interacted with. "Mickie" (if that's even his real name) repeatedly followed our 13 year old daughter around making inappropriate sexual comments to her, while she looks older than 13 she was traveling with us (her parents) and younger siblings which you would think would obviously give him a basic idea of her age, he didn't care..He needs to be removed from this establishment before he endangers an innocent child with his disgusting behaviors. I've reached out to their corporate office requesting an investigation to be done immediately at this location and was told by Choice Hotels they have already been made aware of this employee and have had numerous inexcusable complaints against him that will not only be addressed by their corporate office as well as the local sheriff's department. After my daughter rejected his advances we were harassed by him, our credit card was triple charged and he claimed there was nothing he could do about it. We left early and will continue to be the whistleblowers at every available social media platform until this is taken care of! We stayed at the Quality Inn in Valparaiso, Indiana on July 2017. I was extremely disappointed on many levels. When I booked this room the man that I talked to at the hotel wouldn't book our rooms together unless we all checked in together. He stated, "I assign rooms as people check in so if you want to be near each other, check in together after 3:00". We checked in after 5:00. Rooms were not available because housekeeping staff was short handed and didn't have rooms cleaned. We left and came back. The trash outside was overflowing and all around the ground. It was so bad that it was difficult to get into the side door. We get to our room and the hand towel appeared used. We had one bath towel for two of us. No wash cloths or kleenex. The shower curtain was horribly moldy. The next day the breakfast person didn't show up so some of the family had to go out to eat. Others chose not to eat. Some of my cousins tried to find another hotel but was unsuccessful. It is bad enough to bury my mother and try to keep the family in one location but to have to deal with poor customer service and poor room conditions was just unexceptionable. Last night I stayed at a Hampton Inn for $4.00 more a night but accommodations and customer service as well as breakfast and coffee far exceeded the Quality Inn. I'll sleep in my car before staying here again. read more

Do not stay here unless you like MOLD on your shower curtains and cleaning your entire room so you don't get charged extra! We left a few beer cans and 2 pizza boxes but apparently that's excessive trash left in the room. The manager told me the housekeepers get 20 minutes to clean each room (doesn't sound like much time to properly change sheets, clean a shower, etc. to begin with). But I guess since we didn't just sleep, touch nothing, then leave, it took her longer than 20 minutes. Imagine that. Manager was very rude when I spoke with her. read more

My 95 year-old mother who uses a walker had a confirmed reservation, along with her daughter and son-in-law, for 1 handicapped accessible room on the first floor. When they arrived, 2 hours after just confirming the reservation for a second time, they were told the room was not available and had to accept a room on the second floor. There are no elevators and my mother had to climb two flights of stairs to reach a room. At 8:00 p.m. and from out of town, trying to find alternate lodging was not an option knowing that several other nearby hotels were booked. Quality made no offer of compensation, no apology for selling the confirmed (with credit card) reservation and several phone calls to the assistant general manager and manager to discuss the incident have gone unanswered. DO NOT STAY HERE. Their customer service is terrible and so is their hotel. read more

I am not one to complain, but people need to know. My stay at this hotel was the worst experience I have ever had. We booked a block of rooms for my wedding this past weekend. I called two weeks before to verify that all of the reservations were confirmed, and the manager could only find 6 of the 16 reservations made. Not only could he not find the reservations, but he repeatedly blamed myself and my guests saying that we must have the wrong place, then found the rooms minutes later booked under another parties block of rooms. I thought it would be okay, but it wasn't. As my guests checked in to the hotel, one by one, they were given a hard time either by saying they didn't have a room, or charging the guests more than the original price given, and also by giving away their rooms. To make things worse, my now husband checked in to the hotel the night before only to find out that they had given our suite away. He was offered another room, which had a broken AC unit, a broken jacuzzi, and the last guests McDonalds in the fridge. Later that night, my uncle arrived after traveling ten hours and was told they gave his room away. The next day I warned all of my guests who were only staying Saturday to check in early if possible. One guest thought she was okay because she checked in at 2, and had all of her belongings in the room. She left the hotel assuming that everything would be fine, and attending my wedding. Upon return, she walked into her room to find a COUPLE IN HER BED, all of her belongings had been moved by the hotel staff into a different room without her knowledge, including her toiletry items and open suitcase. Also on that night, the grooms parents checked in to the hotel to find that the hotel gave their reserved and paid for room away, so another guest gave up their room for my in laws and slept on the floor of yet another guests room. Obviously this was a mess, and I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Not to mention the lack of management that Gage had. He purposely called off work Saturday to avoid dealing with the issues, and only went in once my sister called the corporate office and informed them of the situation. If you are looking for a nice place to stay you will have better luck sleeping in the back of your car, at least you may have working AC on the hottest day of summer that way. read more

Sleep in your car if you have to too avoid staying at this dump. I have never been to a worse hotel. The room door had been broken in the past and had a shoddy repair job on the lock. The locking doors to the outside were broken and anyone could come in. Despite all hotels in Indiana being nonsmoking, our room STUNK like smoke. Apparently someone had a window open so they could smoke and left it open. The room was FULL of bugs! Mosquitos, moths, beetles you name it. Disgusting! I was not about to have my pregnant wife and 2 young kids in such a nasty hotel. Despite booking through a 3rd party site and prepaying for our stay (nonrefundable!) we picked up and left. The Hampton Inn down the street has a similar 3 star rating. There is no comparison. When checking in, some random guy in shorts and a t-shirt smoking a cigarette offered to help me unpack the car. Still have no idea if he was an employee or a creeper. I tried to cancel the charges to my credit card but have not had any luck as of yet. The owner at the front desk (politely) informed me he would be charging me for the full amount for my stay. I tried to get documentation from him showing I left early and the reasons why but he had "computer problems" and couldn't print me a receipt. He had no problem however getting on his computer to charge me for the full stay. Stay away from this place! read more
