Not too long after that, noticed ants everywhere. All over the floor by the bathroom and coming into the room. Packed up and went down to the front desk. Interrupted the young lady who was in the back office with headphones in. Explained my room was full of ants. She didn't even apologize, simply said well that's not good and changed me to a different room. I didn't get the impression she was surprised to hear there were ants all over one of the rooms in the hotel. The interaction felt rushed and she seemed disinterested and distracted (still had one of her two ear pods in while talking with me). She rebooks me into the room across the hallway from my original room (now I'm in 416) and gets me a new key. Upon entering my new room it smells so strong I have to leave the door open for 10 minutes to try and air it out. It was so pungent it was actually hard to breathe at first. Some combination of dirty locker room and severe mildew. Either the odor finally aired out or I just got used to the smell, but it eventually went away. Finally I get to sleep and all should now be right in the world. Only I wake up the next morning and come to realize there is no toilet paper. None at all. Of course, I realize this at the most unfortunate time, after I have already used the toilet and now in need of the aforementioned toilet paper. I've traveled more than 2/3rds of this year for business staying exclusively at Hilton brand hotels. My account says 34 stays for 96 total night so far (it's mid September). Most have been acceptable. My last few stays at this particular hotel were decent. This experience, however, has motivated me to look into switching to Marriott and their family of hotels for all my future stays. UPDATE: Stopped in at the front desk early in the morning and let them know my room had no toilet paper. The lady asked if I was headed back up as she looked for some to hand to me, again no apology. I said I was on my way out to work, but asked if she could have someone bring some up and place it in my room. Returned after a 10 hour work day...wouldn't you know it, no toilet paper in my room.

All of the check-in and out procedures go through someone working virtually. I will not be staying here again unless I absolutely have to. I would also argue that the use of technology in this way at this location benefits the manager or host more than the customer. Also, due to this setup, you can only purchase drinks and snacks that are offered in the lobby with cash, since there is no one there to accept a card.

I was the sole guest during my 3 day 2 night stay there so felt like I had the whole top floor to myself. The house is an old structure but Karen has made it a cosy and comfy home away from home. My room was well-furnished with a nice size bed and fireplace seating area. This room also had a nice big tub in the bedroom space as well as a doored bathroom with shower. The balcony opened out to views of the street. Nice big spaced room with lots of windows/shades, light and a fan too. No TV here but you do have uninterrupted wifi. Parking is on a lot just across the street and the location is great - this is the closes B&B to the square where all the shops and restaurants are located. Nice quiet neighborhood but still close to historic attractions. Guests can be entertained in the living area downstairs. You get a key to enter and exit the inn as you wish. Fridge on the upper level has water and soda aplenty. Towels, toiletries provided and Karen has lived in the area long enough to provide any info, etc. My stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The quiet and calm provided for some much warranted writing time for me. Rates are really cheap and rooms can be booked over the phone with Karen.

They offer complimentary breakfast which consist of buffet style and typical American breakfast offerings. The Inn is historic and has that look and feel of old time luxury with high ceilings, wood floors, and massive foyer/staircase with beautiful chandelier. They have free WiFi and I was able to get a lot of work done at the desk located in the room, in addition to getting great sleep on their oversized plush king size bed.
