I was staying at a different hotel a distance away (in West Columbia), but I came here several times to meet friends over the last weekend in June. I would have stayed here but there was limited availability and the price was more than I wanted to pay. Apparently, there was a Morgan Wallen concert at nearby Clemson University that same weekend, as well as other local events. The main lobby area was nice and cozy with lots of seating. This hotel has a nice indoor pool. The breakfast area looked nice as well. The front desk staff was very friendly. I would love to stay here in the future should I return to this area. read more

Rooms are small. Bathroom door wouldn't shut & lock. The sink was so stupidly designed it was hard to use, like the they bought the cheapest tiniest faucet imaginable (almost couldn't even wash your hands). Breakfast was good as far as hotel breakfasts go. read more

Stayed here a number of times in the past when I travel for work (diamond member). Got to my room (415) and found the AC to be struggling...room was warmer than the outside temp. Not too long after that, noticed ants everywhere. All over the floor by the bathroom and coming into the room. Packed up and went down to the front desk. Interrupted the young lady who was in the back office with headphones in. Explained my room was full of ants. She didn't even apologize, simply said well that's not good and changed me to a different room. I didn't get the impression she was surprised to hear there were ants all over one of the rooms in the hotel. The interaction felt rushed and she seemed disinterested and distracted (still had one of her two ear pods in while talking with me). She rebooks me into the room across the hallway from my original room (now I'm in 416) and gets me a new key. Upon entering my new room it smells so strong I have to leave the door open for 10 minutes to try and air it out. It was so pungent it was actually hard to breathe at first. Some combination of dirty locker room and severe mildew. Either the odor finally aired out or I just got used to the smell, but it eventually went away. Finally I get to sleep and all should now be right in the world. Only I wake up the next morning and come to realize there is no toilet paper. None at all. Of course, I realize this at the most unfortunate time, after I have already used the toilet and now in need of the aforementioned toilet paper. I've traveled more than 2/3rds of this year for business staying exclusively at Hilton brand hotels. My account says 34 stays for 96 total night so far (it's mid September). Most have been acceptable. My last few stays at this particular hotel were decent. This experience, however, has motivated me to look into switching to Marriott and their family of hotels for all my future stays. UPDATE: Stopped in at the front desk early in the morning and let them know my room had no toilet paper. The lady asked if I was headed back up as she looked for some to hand to me, again no apology. I said I was on my way out to work, but asked if she could have someone bring some up and place it in my room. Returned after a 10 hour work day...wouldn't you know it, no toilet paper in my room. read more

Had a good stay here. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable at a very reasonable price for what was offered. My family and kids enjoyed the expanded breakfast offerings that I don't usually see so much breakfast options offered at other hotels. And theres a small indoor pool and even guest washer/dryer. I have to say for the price and the good experience I had that I'd be happy to stay here again. read more

Dirty. Came through town for a race and stayed two nights. Near the highway which is convenient but no clear driveway to locate it behind a gas station. Staff was generally friendly but didn't do anything - stayed in a room with two beds. One bed when you pulled back the cover had decent size blood stains and dirt (looked like bug carcasses). Other bed was made up with sheets a size too small and sheets were pulling off. Hard to believe anything in the room was cleaned. They said sorry but didn't do anything but opened an "investigation." After a month got a generic "sorry" email but no make good. I used to use Hampton as my go to spot but won't anymore. read more

The supposed general manager is the rudest person I have met in my 15 years of living in South Carolina. She literally started YELLING at me because I asked for an out-of-town guest's name to show up on a reservation I had made for her, as the receptionist who made the booking on the phone said it would (she even sent me two confirmations because one was supposed to be in the guest's name). The general manager said that was not their policy, which was contrary to what the receptionist I spoke to said. When I asked the general manager why she was yelling at me instead of the receptionist who provided incorrect information, she said that there had not been a woman on duty that morning so she had no idea who I was talking about; she said it would be impossible for her to find out who made the booking and she wasn't even sure I had made the booking at the right hotel! (Even though the hotel address was clearly on the confirmation). This was all while yelling at me in an extremely unpleasant tone. The bottom line is, she was SO RUDE and unprofessional for absolutely no reason that I canceled my reservation as there is NO WAY I could risk having my guest turn up at the hotel and be treated in such a disrespectful way. read more

My home for one night while traveling for work. For a fairly out of the way location this Hampton was packed on a Monday night. It took a while to actually find how to get there, see below. "The Good" - The room had a fireplace and a small sink area with a mini-fridge. - The room was clean. - The towels were clean (this reveals pet peeve number 26) - Very quiet room. - Cereal and fresh fruit are always good things in the morning. - It was the newer style room design and had a television on a swivel that you could see from the bed / desk / couch. - Soap and the travel toiletries that are standard. "The Meh" - The flooring in the hallway of the fourth floor was wavy. It was different levels so either the carpet was installed incorrectly or the adhesive has come up and its time for some renovations. - Kinda isolated if you are looking for someplace to eat. There is a Fatz Grill, which I was told was a "Good 'ole Restaurant". I opted for the local Subway, which was not that local. - If you plan on sleeping in a little make sure you put the do not disturb sign out as the cleaning crew makes the rounds fairly early. "The Bad" - It looks like the access road was an afterthought or they would not or could not negotiate with the gas station and grill in front of them to access the main road. - I am going to put the isolation here as well as some factors where meh... while some were bad. read more

I don't know why Hampton Inn built such a hotel in Clinton, SC years ago with no resturant built-in OR one close by. NOW, they have three eateries, one of which is Fatz which has to be the worst Fatz Cafe on the planet. (Suprised DHEC hasn't shut them down for improperly cooked food!). The only other places nearby are a disappointing Arby's and a Zaxby's with short hours. There is a decent Seafood restuant at one exit up BUT most hotel guests want something where they stay OR no further than 150 feet away. Why would I want to stay there with NO WHERE around there fit to eat?. Rumour has the hotel was subsidized by tax payer money as is also said about a Comfort Suites one exit Northwest of the Hampton Inn. There is absoutely ZERO reason to come to Clinton except to make a delivery and then LEAVE. Must be a write-off. OH hold the presses. Word is there's going to be QT Truckstop built across the highway from this Hampton Inn. MAN, I've changed my mind!. What a DESTINATION...(NOT!). What a joke! Drive 40 miles North OR 60 miles further South and stay where there's places to eat and things going on! read more

Friendly staff, clean rooms and right off the highway. They're also the only hotel around that takes pets and you wouldn't even know.

We stayed here for a night in the king suite .. quite large and roomy, and spotless - which is a big thing for us. Pros: - Huge room, large kitchen, very clean - Couch was made from memory foam or something similar? very comfortable - Pillows were great - The greeter at the front desk was extremely pleasant when we arrived, perhaps one of the most pleasant that I've experienced at a hotel. - The whole hotel appears to be very clean and the lobby is spotless. Cons: - There seems to be a lack of trash cans. Just a small one under the desk which doesn't seem large enough for the whole room. - Our coffee maker still had a coffee cartridge and grounds in it - we ran hot water through to make tea and ended up with weak coffee. Woops. - The TV is not on a swivel, so you can't see it from the bed or couch. We didn't watch TV, but just mentioning it. - Found a used washcloth hanging on the shower bar. - Like another reviewer said, the hallways have wavy raised carpet in various places. Not sure this is a con or not - but thought I'd mention it. - The breakfast food was just ok. I would say Holiday Inn Express has a better and tastier breakfast spread. I'd definitely stay here again. Considering this is sort of an out of the way place, it's surprising how nice this hotel is! read more

I often reference in my reviews that if you go to a chain, it is the service that separates the business....The property is in the top 3 of all Hampton Inns that I have stayed at.....For the cost of the room, plus the service and the small nuances (hammock)....I will definitely use this Hampton again when I come through,.... read more

They had a full spread breakfast (eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, oatmeal, etc.) ready at 5:40 am when breakfast is suppose to start at 6. Also, by the entrance were bags filled with snacks and bottled water to take with you. My room was $150 after tax. For the quality I got, I was impressed. Most crappy hotels cost $100 per night. Currently they are doing renovations though, so everything isn't perfect. read more

BEWARE!!!! Hotel double charged my debit card on two occasions! I have spent two days attempting to get my money credited back! I appreciate how nice the accommodations were however I did not expect that in such a nice place my card would be vulnerable to multiple unauthorized charges!!!!! read more
