Sorry to say this is the last visit for this hotel. It used to be pretty nice but the neglect is so evident it's sad. When we requested to move to a room with a refrigerator the front desk guy said they don't have very many because people had stolen them. Then when is asked for a room with a screen so we could open the window he again blamed the guests for messing up the screens. Pretty lame to blame their neglect on customers. When we got back to the hotel that night to move to our new room the front desk gal said the beds weren't made so she would make them up. One of the pictures shows how the room was made up. She only made one bed and there was blood on the carpeting. Disgusting. She assured me that it was a stain and that it has been there since she started. OK.. no towels in the pool room, washer and dryer out of order. I could go on but you get my point. Choice hotels should be ashamed!! So farewell to this hotel! read more

Quality Inn's are hit and miss when it comes to being renovated. This one here is a miss and half, not horrible but not great. The room looks and smells clean which is huge. The hallways are well not the greatest. The Inn is close to the freeway. Parking was adequate and the parking lot was well lit. There is no refrigerator in the room which is kind of disappointing, since we had purchased food at a restaurant in Grand Rapids and really wanted to eat it for breakfast. Worst hotel stay ever. Quality is not a word I would use to describe it. We registered online requesting a roll away and they didn't have any. My nephew with seribiral palsy and my wife who just had knee Surgery were forced to climb stairs because there was no elevator. We were told no downstairs room were available because they had no cleaning staff and everyone was sleeping up stairs. One of the rooms had a large hole in the carpet, A dog was allowed in the swimming area where it peed. There was not enough breakfast for everyone who was there. The only thing that could make it worse is roaches or ants . very disappointed all 3 room we reserved néed desperate attention. I went to Talk to the receptionist and could not find one so I hunted down the laundry guy who was the most plesant thing about this stay. DO NOT STAY HERE. Very outdated and in need of maintenance. Short staffed as well. The lady that helped us check in had to go and physically check to see which rooms were clean and ready. Finally, the manager picked a room for us and had to take a fridge from another room for us. The facility needs to have the parking lot paved, new paint and carpet. However, the room was clean and comfortable. The manager and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful and did their best to make our stay pleasant. Landscaping was non existent and the security doors at the ends of the hotel no longer locked automatically so the manager had to physically lock them at 10 pm. Those two people are way overworked and doing their best. I hope the hotel management gets the hotel up to speed for their sake. read more

This is where you stay when you just need a room and a bed for the night. We have stayed here once before and this time was actually for a couple nights as we had some business to take care of on the "West Coast." TV turned on but couldn't change the channel with any of the remotes. Since my girlfriend and I are not big television watchers we didn't make a big deal of it. By the time we realized it, we had settled in and really didn't want staff coming in to figure out the problem. Not bitching necessarily but we thought it was funny because there were 3 remotes in the room. Pros: It's fairly clean and the staff was pleasant. It was cheap. Near several decent restaurants. A 30-min drive to the lake. The A/C worked GREAT! Had a pool and hot-tub but we didn't use. Mattress was decent. Cons: No fridge, no microwave, the room smelled like smoke (did seem to improve after spraying perfume around), no fan in the bathroom, carpet was old and dirty, and the place was generally just old and run-down looking. I'm not one to usually want to award a half star but after a week of consideration a 2 star seems harsh seeing as this Quality Inn met the basic necessities but a 3 star seems a bit generous for what you get. But because of the customer service provided by their staff in rounding up for 2.5-3 for the purposes of this review. It's a motel chain. So let's just start off with that. You shouldn't go in expecting 5 star luxury. Just except that there should be a good bed clean bed, clean water with decent pressure and a clean hotel. So long as nothing really takes away from that the business has met base expectations and they did. Was it fancy? Heck no. We arrived around 2:30-3am after trekking 5.5 hours from Toronto on route to Chicago. Road weary we pulled in and got a room for about $115 USD for the night. Not a great price, but ok. We were asked to sign a waiver that we wouldn't smoke in the room lest be charged $200. Again fair enough. The customer service person at the desk was very nice. To the point that she started to show us where our room was, saw how tired we were and ended up helping us carry our bags right to the door. And this is at a motel no less. Points here for sure. The room was on the second floor. No elevator so the 3am stair climb was rough. Got to the room and opened the door and I laughed bc we had just signed a waiver to not smoke yet the acrid smell of 30+ years of prior cigarette smoke hit you in the face like a Mike Tyson left hook. Wow. The room met the basics but man was it dated and starting to fall apart, crusty matted carpets, peeling wall paper and a general yellowing of most things (likely due to the years of "non-smoking" that had gone on in here - haha). I was a little freaked out since a couple Of the yelp reviews said bed bugs so I slept in my clothes. There was no evidence of any bugs so that might have been just a silly comment by a fellow traveller. Overall not bad, just wish the room hadn't of been so Smokey. What a disappointment! We had a fun weekend with friends in Hudsonville and came back to the hotel and pool early to go into the hot tub and swim. The hot tub was not working The front desk clerk, Amber, was rude and threatened to call the police on us because we had cans of beer and white claw. She also suggested that we could check out if we didn't like it. There is literally NOBODY ELSE at the pool and there were 5 of us!! Did I mention that we are in our 60's and 70's? This is the worst hotel myself and my husband have ever stayed at. We questioned the cleanliness of the room and were worried about touching things in the room. The room was missing furniture including the other bed and the mini refrigerator. The hotel carpet outside the room in the hallway was covered in stains. The room we were assigned was non-smoking and it smelled like smoke. The reason why we booked this hotel was a quick stop over to our final destination. We just wanted a place to sleep for the night to break up a long trip however, it was not worth it, we did not feel relaxed at the hotel and we should of drove the whole way or paid more money to stay at a better hotel. read more

One of the worst I've ever stayed in. Rooms smell of musty mold and smoke. Carpet is so gross bring your shower shoes and don't let your bare feet touch the ground. Lobby, pool and breakfast room were nice but the property needs serious attention. Never again. read more

Outdated and smokey. Near the hot tub I noticed dead bugs that had not been cleaned up. Stains on the comforters and multiple hairs left in the bathtub. Overall, not an aesthetically pleasing environment and felt old & dirty. read more

Very disappointed! Beds are small and uncomfortable. We came in last night from a long day of visiting family and both keys didn't work so we went down to the front desk for new ones. When we entered our room the maid never came. We got no new towels, no more coffee and the the trash was no emptied. We have a pet so it was $300 for two nights and I just think that's a lot of money when you can't get fresh towels, coffee, room keys deactivated and uncomfortable beds. read more

Unfortunately, the unprofessionally dressed and rude young man working Memorial Weekend made it so we will never come back. Updated: bed bugs might've been an overreaction, but still disgusting nonetheless. I've decided that with Choice Hotels, Comfort Inn is my baseline quality. Likely bed bugs in 2 different rooms. I purposely booked the cheapest room for just one night to spend some time in grand rapids. I figured quality inn would be at least respectable being a choice brand. But I found a few dead bugs along the bed frame where a few popcorn crumbs had been missed. We asked and were given another room. This was worse. A pile of dead bugs under the air condition unit. We immediately cancelled the room without problem. The front desk came to the room on my request and took pictures. I looked up after the fact and these were probably bed bugs, but I couldn't be 100% sure. We were only in the room a few hrs but I still put the clothes we had on in a garbage bag to be washed in hot water. read more

Very disappointed, had half a roll of toilet paper for two days and two nights. Typically staff leave extra. They never serviced the room for some reason despite not putting up a DND sign. Very bewildering. Staff seemed stressed despite minimal business. She dressed unprofessionally. She wore sweat pants that showed her bottom and was preoccupied with her children who lived there. We were locout of our room before 10 and checj put was 11. She made us go back upstairs to the room to leave the keys to be sanitized. I just stayed in this hotel for the fourth time. The front desk staff is friendly and the rooms are nice enough, however, I will never stay at this location again. I left some items behind when I checked out that were not turned in to lost and found. As a result, I lost nearly $50 of personal property because the cleaning staff either stole it or were too lazy to turn it in. Either way, dishonesty and laziness are unforgivable. Again, I will no longer recommend this location to my friends and have reported it as an unsuitable hotel to my corporate travel agent. read more

My experience with Quality Inn hotels is a hit and miss... Sometimes they're nice, quiet, and clean. Sometimes not so much. This location is one if the good ones. Room was clean, quality of linens and room amenities is good for the price, and the hotel was quiet despite it being fully booked. I will regularly stay here when in town. read more

Stains in the sheets! Our first room had very visible large stains on the sheets so we asked for another room only to find out the new room had stains on the sheets again. We decided not to stay here and booked another hotel instead. They allowed us to cancel our reservation and gave us a full refund. The lady at the front desk was nice and apologetic at least. The bed has small square pillows that don't look comfortable. The place is in need of a serious update. Wall paper falling off and carpet has burn spots. read more

I only stayed here because there wasn't a nice hotel in the area of where I needed to be for a very early conference. Upon arriving I was told that the entire floor 1st floor was being renovated and the only rooms were on the 2nd floor which was fine with me. They did not have an elevator... only stairwells that were accessible either by walk through the entire hotel or driving your car around to the back to be closer to where your room was. I asked her would my key card work in the back door and she said the back door stays open because we have workers coming in-and-out for the renovations. And I said but it does work right? And she said of course. When I went to dinner and came back the door was still open at 9 o'clock in the evening. I called the front desk and she said that they never lock the door because of fire safety code. I said well of course you don't lock people in but those with a key card can use the keypad outside the door to get in correct?? She said that in the 2 years that she's worked here that that keypad has never worked. So I asked her why shouldn't the key card work? That's a way to keep the building secure and her response to me was that they have very good security cameras. I said to her but that's assuming that you see somebody walking in and hanging out in your stairwell or walking randomly through your hallways. As a single woman traveling, I am very sensitive to being in a hotel where there is little to no security. If it weren't for the fact that I'm already here, the room is already paid for and it's literally walking distance to the conference that I have to be at before the Sun comes up, I would grab my things and get the h*** outta here. I cannot believe that they willingly and deliberately operate outdoor access doors to stairwells and do not fix the key card readers that should keep those door secure. Ridiculous! First off let me start out by saying before we even checked in we received a phone call from hotel staff stating that they changed all the beds from queen to extended double. Well, we booked two queen rooms. However, we accepted the 20% discount because we were informed the beds were only a inch different on both sides. I thought not a big deal. So, we check in and get to our rooms. The beds were significantly smaller then what we were told. Still not a deal breaker. We start putting our personal items away and I head into the bathroom. Upon closer inspection I discover the tub still has water all over it as if some one just showered in it and hair on one wall of the shower. I called down to the lobby and requested some one from housekeeping clean the tub. I was told" I'm sorry, I don't have anyone here to do that and I can't because I have a bad back" Um ok. So I said I guess I need to do it myself? So I have to walk down and get cleaning supplies and scrub it myself. Absolutely ridiculous. After that, we head out to dinner. I come back and use the bathroom to which I discover the toilet will not flush and just keeps running. I pull off the back of the toilet and realize the drain chain became unhooked and we had to hook it back up ourselves. Meanwhile, the manager refused to comp the room and only gave us a 10 percent discount. We head to the pool to try to salvage the night and the pool is ice cold and I could barely get down the stairs to the pool. When I said that I was going to write a bad review, the response was" Ok, that's fine." This shouldn't be called a Quality Inn- more like Nasty Inn. Completely ridiculous, disgusting and ruined my first night here ever. read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights this weekend. It was dirty and very noisy. The people above us had children that were running back and forth across the hotel room until approx. 11:00 pm. When I called the front desk (0) on the hotel phone no one answered. I used my cell phone to call and the front desk picked up. Two phone calls and after 11:00pm I finally fell asleep. We could here the people in the other rooms flushing their toilets not to mention doors slamming in the hallway. Our lights and clock were not plugged in. The next morning I was going to make coffee, the pot actually had grounds in it and the filter had left over grounds that looked like it had not been cleaned in months.. Disgusting!! In the morning when I went to the front desk to confront them about the night and the coffee pot there was a typed message on a plastic board (looked like they used it every day) The receptionist is not available at this time. What?? I left my filter and went back to my room. RUN!! This hotel is awful! read more
