It was clean and a place to sleep and a Good Value for the money but what's the old saying you get what you pay for. The walls were paper thin and I could hear the next room alarm going off and every step the room above took. The free Breakfast was nothing to make you go Oh WOW

    Stained carpet

I came to this hotel not having a reservation, asked for a room for two, and then the receptionist asked me how I was going to pay for the room before I was even done asking how much it would be for night. Once entering the room it had a mildew/damp order to the room. Room itself was okay, but I didn't feel comfortable walking on the carpet. It has multiple stains along with stains on the bed frames.

Karma was happy with the bed.

It's right across the street from Aldi and WalMart, so shopping for supper or snacks is no problem.

They quickly offered to mail it to me and they sent me the tracking info. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. I really appreciated their help. The hotel itself is very nice and the rooms are clean. The beds are very comfortable. They have a nice full breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend!

For JUN 1-7 2025…read more.. There are times in life that remind you of other times in your life. We have retired and moved back to Ilinois (were first here 2017-2020). So what brings this Deja Vu to mind is the two weeks we spent at a Sonesta in MD when we moved out here back then. This time the "week" was spent on the IL side. It is difficult to describe how I wasn't able to separate those feelings from the PCS move to this a final move to a forever home idea. Litchfield is a nice enough town, and actually the big city compared to our little village. This is a good, basic hotel/motel. There is nothing to really complain about, nor does anything stand out as a reason to return. We got a good price through Booking.com...and there were not a whole lot of other choices. It was reasonably clean, the bed was comfortable and the plumbing worked. There is a breakfast, it was a decent offering of a hot protein, biscuits, gravy, a waffle machine, cereal etc. There was nothing special and nothing exceptional. We did have this odd thing of the mini-fridge being super powered and freezing everything. We told the staff and they gave a sort of shrug response. I am not entirely sure if this place is on the way up or the way down. There was evidence of some effort to improve things but the staff seem to be family members and not the young vibrant 20 somethings, but the hard working, worn 60 somethings...

When we arrived the owner would not honor the quoted reservation rate and charged us more - probably because they realized that all the hotels in the area were booked. Owner was rude and yelled at us in a foreign language and pretended to not understand English. Upon entering our room we noted that all to familiar smell of cheap hotel rooms - urine and sweat tinged with mold. Mold throughout bathroom, carpets filthy and geez there was something growing under the rim of the toilet. Lumpy bed had 1 sheet (no mattress pad) and a comforter full of cigarette burn holes. Legs and arms itched quite a bit the next day and I took the liberty of washing my clothing in hot water when I got home. A nice touch in the room was the mini-refrigerator with no temperature dial and brownish green mold on the door molding. Room had TV but it received only several fuzzy stations. Take my recommendation and sleep in your car in a parking lot instead of staying here.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are not updated but are very clean. All rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave. The room was spacious. They also have the cheapest rate around for pets and love to interact with your pet as well. Overall, I would stay at the Countryside Inn again. I have experienced bed bugs at hotels before and was pleased not to have that experience again! Overall, the hotel is not updated but the rate is very reasonable and the hotel is very clean.
