Key Points of Concern: * Plugs don't work * Parking * Tennis ball under bed * Prostitution * Rats * Cat pee smell When you think "quality," words like "excellent," "high rated," or even "outstanding" might cross your mind. Though this could be true, when you look up the definition of quality, you may find yourself reading something along the lines of "the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind" (Google, 2018). So next time you think "quality," remember that it's just about comparison because this review is about to get saucy. I'll start you off easy and we'll build from here. The outlets on the lamp did not work. My plug slid right in and out of the socket like... well you can fill in the blank. Luckily my roommate had a 40ft cord that could reach from her bed to mine. Like okay, fine. There was a time we didn't need an outlet right next to our beds. I get it and I'll live. Let's move on to the parking. What they don't tell you is this place is LIVELY at night. Oh do the real citizens of America shine brightest in the dark around here (we'll get to that later), but with the population increase at night comes the parking decrease as well. Semi trailers are allowed to park in the back but are also allowed to take up ALL 15 SPOTS ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING. No, not by the grass where it is out of the way of normal cars but in the 15 SPOTS ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING. Like okay; maybe they don't intend ~that~ many people will stay here but we all know what assuming does. Speaking of assuming - I'm gonna assume that someone who works in this building plays tennis and just so happened to leave their tennis ball under the bed. What I'm not gonna do is think about how someone who works here didn't (or doesn't) regularly check under the beds, of which I'm laying upon as I write this review. For all I know, there could be a rat under there, schemin his way into my bag to procreate (again... we'll get to that in a minute). Onto procreation. Now we all know how to procreate (unless you are sheltered and are only on the internet "illegally" because your cult of a family "told you it's the devil"). Anyway, that is just what the people out back are trying not to do. They're just doing it for profit. And yes we call that prostitution and yes there was a prostitute. I can't really tell you how I know this but I've seen enough documentaries to confirm this notion. I know - it's only getting worse. At this point, you're probably thinking to yourself, "Why did I even click on this hotel?" I can answer that: you saw the word "quality" and thought of "excellence." All I need you to do right now, is hang on for a little bit longer because this rollercoaster of events just got started. Put your hands up if you want to; just don't jump yet. Documentaries: they're great, right? I once watched this one about rats in New York. Little did I know I'd get an IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE right here in Jessup, Maryland. Two RATS, yes rats, were scurrying up beside the building... RUNNING TO BOOK A ROOM SO THEY COULD MAKE SOME BABIES. You think I'm fibbing. Well I can assure you that I am not and where there are two, there are two thousand. You know what's supposed to get rid of rats, right? Cats. And that's just what it smelled like in our first room... except it was their urine. It smelled like cat pee. Ammonia. I'm sure that's why too - they hired cats as their staff members so they could get rid of the rats but they just peed on everything and left because cats are douchebags like that. This is only night one. Even though it's been one heck of a horror film type of experience, if you're looking for adventure... it's right here at the Quality Inn in Jessup, Maryland. PS Gave this place one star only because I had to PPS A pic of the tennis ball is attached

Negatives- the water pressure sucks and the water does not get hot. You can't even take a decent shower!! I'm so unhappy about this. Our door was squeaking but maintenance was able to fix it with WD40 but he could not do anything about the water pressure or the temperature of the water! I feel like I'm in a 3rd world country, it's sad. Our room won't even stay warm. We have to keep turning the thermostat up. The elevators are freezing, wear a jacket or sweater. I wish I could move to another hotel but it would be too much trouble at this point cause we have too much stuff and two rooms. The room we have across the hall also has a water pressure issue with the shower and sink. Water doesn't get hot in that room either. Update: I informed front desk that the issues could not be fixed and they changed our rooms. Had them check the water pressure and temp before, so we are moving rooms.

I must start by saying that the young lady at the front desk for check in is very helpful and friendly. As is the young lady in the morning at check out. And the gentleman who was at the desk around 4pm is funny, friendly and very welcoming as well. And even ran into their handyman and he was kind enough push elevator button when he saw we were approaching and even held elevator door for us. This service was definitely above and beyond. Hilton standard and then some. We were able to try their pool and wow! Perfectly warm and a clean area. You do need to check in with front desk so they can let you in, but I loved their reasoning for it. They want to be sure that kids aren't going in unattended. Me, my boyfriend and toddler had a great time in there. We also enjoyed their breakfast on Sunday morning and the choices were endless and all were tasty (please don't change a thing). Really enjoyed the real food as opposed to just pastries or sandwiches like lower star rated hotels serve. The kitchen staff never let anything run out. They stayed on top of things and they communicated well with one another as well as the morning guests. My family enjoyed eating it all, except for the waffles. But we just weren't feeling like waffles that morning. Spacious eating area with tables, booths and high tops. And outlets galore so you could get work done or just charge up devices. The rooms are unbelievably spacious, clean, smells fresh and well stocked. They don't have a sponge and dish soap but i'm sure front desk can give you some on request. we just opted to using their dishwasher, which they do supply dish pod for. And last but not least, parking. The parking lot was always easy to find a spot in. And we came and went throughout the day and night. They do charge a small fee of $5, but I assume it's to help cut down on people trying to park there and then uber to the airport. or maybe they don't own the lot and have to pay rental fee to whomever does. Either way, it's worth it.

Yes, there are a few things that could use updating, but all in all my room with king bed was quite nice. The furniture was obviously older, with a few dings here and there. But the bed, although firm, was very comfortable for me - I can't stand furniture I sink into. The pillows had cases with the word "soft" or "firm", which is nice. Everything was spotless! The bathroom was definitely updated, and was not so small I couldn't turn around. Of course, it is also ADA compliant. I really appreciated all the grab bars! I am not disabled, just old & creaky ;) The water got hot quickly and had plenty of pressure, so the tub filled fast. And unlike the last tub in a hotel, which had grab bars, this one had water controller within easy reach while sitting. Nice. The fridge was apartment-sized, with a tiny freezer shelf. The microwave was also small, but adequate. I wish hotels wouldn't use Keurig coffeemakers due to the waste, but I brought my reuseable K-cup & grounds. The machine worked fine. There was a large flat screen TV and ... thinking ... either DirecTV or Comcast, I don't recall which. It had a cable guide and was easy to navigate. Breakfast was free, of course, and had a nice variety of hot and cold foods, breadstuffs, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juices, etc. On Saturday I had a biscuit & half a ladle of sausage gravy, some crispy bacon, and scrambled eggs. All perfectly hot and tasty. I filled my commuter mug about halfway with some decaf, just to reheat what I made in the room. Sunday had similar offerings, although instead of scrambled eggs there were mini omelets with cheese; oh, and both days there were egg white veggie omelets. No bacon, but sausage links; there were also turkey sausage patties. I skipped the biscuit but did put a dab of sausage gravy over my links. Again, quite tasty and perfectly hot. I took a few photos of the breakfast seating because an earlier review complained that there wasn't enough. I saw two different families, one with 4 people and one with 5, sitting together. On Saturday evening, DD & DGD came to visit & swim. We had a nice time, for me because the water was actually warm enough for me to go in! I'm a big sissy about cold water ;) The jacuzzi was pleasantly hot and bubbly, too. I don't know what the room cost because it was a thank you staycation gift from DD & SIL. I can say that items in the snack bar are $$$, so better bring your chips & stuff with you! Or drive .3 mile to the Harris Teeter store that's just up the road! The staff members I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. It was a truly comfortable and enjoyable weekend!

Loyal Guests Taken Advantage of During a Crisis: My wife and…read moreI have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express many times, and we've always had good experiences -- until now. After a storm knocked out power in Annapolis for two days, we needed somewhere safe and cool to stay. Temperatures were high, and we had no choice but to find a hotel. What we didn't expect was to be charged $988.51 for two nights. The normal rate here is around $166-$184 a night, which means two nights should have been roughly $237-$245. Instead, we were hit with a bill that was four times the standard cost. At a time when families everywhere are struggling financially, this felt like a punch in the gut. We trusted this brand. We've stayed here multiple times. But this experience made us feel taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment. We're deeply disappointed, and unless something changes, we'll be looking at other hotels in the future.

There were stains on the sheets- yellow/green splatters, brown spots-maybe makeup/dirt, mildew spots, something foreign-small piece toilet paper rolled up. On the mattress cover, there were more hairs. Also in the tub. Dirty shower walls, hairs in the sink, hair in the tub drain. There were stains on the furniture. I went down to the front desk and asked if i could a new set of sheets. Housekeeping was gone for the day so they put me in a different room. I checked the bedding in the new room and it looked good. The AC was very loud and it was warm in there, but it ended up working as white noise and i turned it down so it cooled down. The windows were nice and big so they let a lot of light in. There was a little window that you could open. The pool was nice. There were no signs of where it was so i had to ask someone. The pool towels were the size of hand towels though. They probably didn't want people stealing them. The room had all dove products secured to the walls-there was lotion, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The hand soap was far from the faucet which made it inconvenient. There were buttons in the room that you could press for housekeeping or to set do not disturb. Housekeeping will ring the doorbell outside of your door if you don't set your do not disturb on. Make sure the light is red on the outside of your room. Otherwise if you are still sleeping, you'll get woken up. The doorbell idea is interesting but i could see how it would be if a stranger ding dong ditched you. Many of the towels in the room had stains, and literally every towel had hairs embedded in them. You had to pull them out..they were caught in the fibers. Breakfast is $17. I personally think it's overpriced for what you get, but then again, its buffet style so you can go up for seconds. Depending on how you booked (ex: government), you might get breakfast vouchers. There is a restaurant, but its not a typical restaurant that you'd think. Its in the lobby and has a very open concept. There are concessions for purchase and a gym you can use. Room Keycards are required for the doors to the pool and gym. The pool is down the hallways by the elevator. The bulb cover in the light in the room was popped partially out. The rooms are modernized to an extent and the furniture and decor look nice. I do wish there were more than two drawers. There was a mini fridge and microwave which were handy. The ac in my room was leaking, there was a pool of water on the floor. At one point when flushing the toilet, it wouldnt flush like normal so i opened the tank, and the refill tube was disconnected from the fill valve. I went downstairs and told the front desk so they sent maintenance. The maintenance guy didnt seem to know how to fix it because he ended up overflowing the toilet and water flooded the floor. The toilet got fixed but He used two of the bath towels in my room and didn't get them replaced. Luckily there were three in the room so I had one left to use. Housekeeping comes everyday to restock. The next day i didn't get three towels. They were probably wondering where the others went. Other than that, The staff were nice. They were friendly at breakfast and asked if i wanted water. Overall, due to the cleanliness of the hotel, ironically, the thing that they advertise heavily, I would not stay here again.
