Yeah, this was my second visit and for sure it won't be my last. There's so much to love about this place. Let's start with the excellent customer service at the front desk. I had a long drive to get here and really appreciated that they let me check in when I showed up about an hour and a half before Check In Time. I understand that's not always possible. But they made it happen. I love the Free Parking. Places that nickel and dime you with charging for parking piss me off. Quality Inn Petaluma - Sonoma don't play like that. And the rooms here? They're clean. And the beds? Comfortable! OK, the pillows leave a lot to be desired, but I knew that was the case and brought my own pillow from home. Now you know too. The TV is small, but serviceable. The internet is free. There's an outdoor swimming pool (open seasonally) and a jacuzzi (open year-round). One of the things I love most about this property is that the rooms have a good-sized Mini Fridge and also a small Microwave. Apparently for comic effect the rooms also have a little black plastic coffee maker that looks like it was purchased for $5 at a WalMart Black Friday sale in 2006. I mean, who in the world is still using hotel room coffee makers to make coffee in their rooms? Ew! Especially when there's free coffee and breakfast in the morning in the breakfast nook next to the Check in Desk. The breakfast was evidently way more appealing to other guests than it was to me. Nevertheless, I genuinely appreciated it, even if I thought the selections and the quality were just kind of OK. The only really negative aspect of the property is it seems to be noisy AF during the day.Ugh! What's all the shouting about? I'm tryin to take a nap before the show here. This was a good place to stay for one night, although I checked in late evening they were very accommodating and the check in process was fast. I stayed in building 6, the rooms are enclosed with a locked door to the building and found the hallway to be a little stuffy. The room was spacious, it was dark when I checked in, but my room had more than enough lamps and lights that brightened up the place. I found the carpet to be quite grungy though, I slept comfortably surprisingly. They provided enough towels, the bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water and found the fan was a bit loud. Again, this place kept me safe, was able to get great rest and I was able to request a late check out at 1 pm with no issues. Front desk lady was very pleasant. The complementary breakfast was wonderful - blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, fresh waffles, bananas, cereal, coffee. Oh and plenty of parking even with late night check in. Thank you. read more

Nothing flashy about this hotel, but it had everything one might need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of parking, large lobby with tables and seating, a TV, and free breakfast in the morning. Efficient and helpful service at the front desk (she even gave us a choice of an upstairs or downstairs unit), clear and easy-to-follow hotel map, pool on site. Multiple buildings with easy access, clean room, comfy bedding, safe, iron & ironing board, toiletries, hair dryer, ample towels of various sizes, full length body mirror, decent sized TV, reliable wifi, multiple seats in the room, desk, fridge, microwave, ice bucket, coffee, working AC/ temperature control, and a whole lot of outlets for charging phones or other devices (a surprisingly large amount). The place was ideal for one night. Plus, I'm a fan of 12 noon checkout so that I don't feel rushed in the morning, and especially if I wanna sleep in, so it's great that they offer this. Stayed in a slight moment of desperation, but I reread my Yelp review from 3+ years ago and decided to trust my own Yelp review, Lol. It turned out well! $220/night seemed rather excessive for this place, but it was for a Saturday night on Labor Day weekend, and 2022 is all about labor shortage and inflation. This motel was not my first choice when I was in town to attend a friend's graduation at Sonoma State, but this place does the job for a quick one night stay. Rooms are outdated. The end unit I was in smelled like smoke even though it said it was a non-smoking room. There is only one lady working the front desk and she is friendly, but slow. Plenty of parking. Stayed here for 4 nights/3 days and all in all wife and I were very pleased with the experience. Good size room with a queen bed. Friendly staff that were helpful and attentive to our needs. Breakfast was the standard eggs, sausage, cereal etc. Checkout is a hour later than the usual 11am. Good proximity to places on our list to see and things to do and the price was great. We were on a road trip for two and a half weeks, staying at a number of Quality Inns, and would have to say this was one of the best that we stayed at. If we were up here again, we would probably come back here. read more

I would like to start by saying that I have given this hotel a ton of business over the years. Like, I've stayed here ten times. I've been quite loyal to them, going anytime I had to vacate my house for house work, busted well (water source), fire evacs, power outages.. I had a two week stay 3 years ago when my well pump ceased. Anywho my review: so two years ago (2023) I went and noticed a strong gas smell at the gas main/lines outside attached to bldg #5. I tried to ignore it..well two years later, two nights ago I check in at night and get put right back at bldg #5. I smelled the exact same natural gas smell permeating the walkway and hovering the gas main/lines attached to the housekeepers closet (same as last time) at bldg #5!!! I was so mad they had done nothing to fix their apparent gas leak. By the way the lines were punched through holes in the wall rudimentary style looking like rats chewed the holes for the openings into the housekeepers closet. I went into my room in bldg #5 and it smelled so bad..it actually smelled like fish..the whole room and bathroom..I realized what it smelled like besides fish was the aftermath of flooding a wet moldy fishy smell like that room had flooded prior, and then dried, improperly without restoration or renovation..I was grossed out by the smell and between that and the gas smell I decided to check two other bldgs before leaving and cancelling my reservation. I went into bldg number 4 and 6.. both hallways smelled of vomit and various cooking smells combined. Six was so ghastly of vomit and cooking smells and vile I was dry heaving and sped walked out. Between the gas leak and ghastly smells and my room most likely having flooded not so long ago esp with the frequent rains Sonoma county has been having the last four months I did check out..when I told front desk guy he didn't give 2 sh***s and denied any knowledge of gas leaks refusing to acknowledge my warnings of it. Then said they'd tell maintenance in the morning. With that level of non-challant I reported it to 911 that night. Save your money and life and go anywhere else in Petaluma. read more

This was honestly probably one of the worst hotel rooms I have stayed in. I paid far too much for this reservation. The smell in the hallways was horrible, stained carpets, paint chipping and holes in the wall in the room. The outside of the property smelled like human waste and it seemed to make it smell on the inside as well. For some reason I was given a handicapped accessible room so when the shower was turned on it made the entire bathroom floor wet. I think you will get a lot more if you stay at the Motel 6 down the road. I will not be staying here again, especially at that cost. read more

Well I could have given Quality Inn Petaluma-Sonoma 3 stars because my room itself appeared to look clean its just the staff have no regard for your "Quality" of your stay. For instance... house keeping walking up and down the hallway with their walkie talkies on full blast at 7:45-8:00 in the morning then knocking on your door at 0900 AM just to see if you needed housekeeping... Check out is at noon so they intentionally wake you up to assure you get out in time. I would think the prime directive for the hotel business is not to disturb your guests but thats lost on these people. read more

Um I would not recommend this place at all. First of all when you walk in your greeted by homeless people, people in vans etc. Then you get the wonderful smell of butt walking in the hallways. Not to mention the half used toilet paper roll and unclean coffee machine. But let's make this experience even better, while I'm "relaxing" THE AIR CONDITIONING FALLS OF THE WALL , NOT TO MENTION THE FILTER WAS Disgusting. I've stayed at other Quality Inns so I felt comfortable booking this one in Petaluma. I had an out of town guest fly up from San Diego. With my ex-wife occupying the extra bed downstairs, I chose to get 2 queen beds at Quality Inn. We were attending the Nike SF-88 event in the Marin headlands the next day. Nike SF-88 is the only working missile site that is intact after the cold war. I got a AAA discount so that was descent. The room was clean and descent sized. The flat screen TV could have been larger but it was ok. The front desk was responsive when we couldn't get the air conditioner to turn on. Turns out there's a wall thermostat that overrode the wall mounted air conditioner...lol. Shower was fantastic and put out a huge volume of water, not like some of the hotels/motels I've stayed at that put out a trickle due to shower head restrictors. The bed was firm and very comfortable as I prefer firm mattresses. All Quality Inns have a free hot breakfast. I went at 8:30 am and it was packed. There was no way I was going to wait at the hot waffle line so I got some hot "scrambled" eggs and sausage. I tried to toast a slice of bread but the toaster didn't work. I asked the lady working the breakfast area and she ignored me. She probably didn't speak English. Oh well. There was no place to sit down so I took my breakfast back to the room. My friend from San Diego was in the Army after we attended high school and he got up at 4:30 am and had breakfast at 0600 (military time). So he had no issues with table seating. I would recommend this Quality Inn even with the breakfast challenges. read more

I wanted to rate this motel 4/5 stars originally. Because this is a decent motel for people like us, who traveled for 13 hours with no stop, and all we needed just a clean room with shower and nice bed. The room has everything: iron, iron desk, fan, shampoo/conditioner/cream. Lots of towels, bridge, coffee machine, fridge, safe. What else do you need for simple stay? Plus, very nice breakfast with lots of options to eat (unless you are vegetarian)!!! Maids and customers desk people were polite and friendly. I only did not like carpet and old looking chair I didn't want to sit in.... These things always make me feel uncomfortable and dirty feeling. Owners should consider putting some easy to clean floors, like laminate/concrete, etc. Carpet is not safe! Anyway, OPS. See pic what I saw just before we left. That stain on the pillow made me feel we slept on dirty bedding. I don't know what the hell this bug is, it was just on the pillow. My wife has chemical and fragrance sensitivities. We have had no issues staying at other Quality inn hotels in the past. This one was beyond bad. The moment we entered the hall to our room, the fragrance (Fabreeze?) hit her very hard. Once we entered our room it was worse. The strong smell of fragrance was in the curtains, on the furniture etc. Were they trying to hide something? We were allowed to try another room (2 other rooms) and it was the same. Obviously something used by the cleaning crew. We had to go to Home Depot and purchase an air purifier for the night. We were booked for a two night stay but left to find another hotel in the area. The woman at the desk was wonderful and very sympathetic. She let us check a couple of other rooms but they were all just as bad. read more

The customer service reservation center is the worst I've ever seen. I called back to ask a question about my reservation, and I was placed on hod for almost 10 minutes. When I called back, I was placed on hold for another 30 minutes by the auto response. When I decided to request a call back, the call back came immediately just place me on hold yet again for another 30 minutes. The person that finally answered the phone was obviously lost. I requested to speak to her manager, and she placed me on hold for yet another 15 minutes until I finally hung up. I have worked and still work in customer service for many years. I have also trained my staff on how to handle customers. This was unbelievable. I will never, ever request a room through your desk again! Period! read more

Terrible customer service. Their website and hotels.com said they allow pets. Upon check in, they said that do not allow pets. Since we had our one dog, we were unable to stay there. Hotels.com said they need to get in touch with the hotel to confirm. No one would answer and you can't get through to the front desk. I finally got in touch with the reservation line and the lady confirmed no pets. I asked her for a simple email stating this. She said I can't do that. She was not helpful at all. This hotel is a pretty damn good deal for the Wine Country. It's not romantic but on a budget, it was a great pick for a weekend girls trip with my sister and mom. We found this deal on a Groupon, a hotel that is not far from Sonoma, Napa, Calistoga and all the beauty of Wine Country. So it's a budget hotel, yet they have a pool, Jacuzzi, free continental breakfast, and wifi. There was a gym, yet it was under construction during the time. When my boyfriend and I opened the door there were flies buzzing everywhere!! I called down for another room and was told there were none. Then I asked if maintenance could come and kill the flies. The check in clerk came with a broken ghetto fly swatter and began her feeble attempt at killing flies (she killed 5) then reluctantly left us with the fly swatter. (We killed 22) Thanks. Reservations were made for a business function at a close-by winery. We arrived. The location is right off the freeway, so getting lost is really not an option. Food and Starbucks are across the street. Check-in was a cinch. The room was pretty large and clean. There was room enough to run from the door to the bathroom. The shower is large, bed comfy and warm. The room had no smell. No smell at all. Crisp air. The air outside smelled like cow poo, but given our surroundings (ranches, farms, etc.), it's forgivable. Let me stretch the fact that the accommodations were comfortable before I share the reason why I'll always remember this place. We had the air on while we slept. We were awakened by banging, rattling and popping of the heat/AC unit. We had no idea what the hell was going on, but I can tell you that at 2:44am, I can move away from danger like a ninja. The husband turned off the unit and took a few seconds to figure out what just happened. Then, we laughed. Kept the unit off and went back to bed. Checkout was very quick. We didn't use any of the other amenities. Just a room with a bed and shower. Oh, yeah! The coffeemaker was too cute! I want one! The coffee pods included ground coffee in a tea-sized bag and a little filter. All I did was slide the whole thing into the slot, poured a cup of water and start it. You use the the coffee cups already provided with the room. It's perfect! Coffee was decent and strong. Don't use the fake sugar that comes with the stirrer. Creamers and tea are provided in case you don't want coffee. read more

Had to make the sleeper sofa myself, and the mattress was so bad you could feel the metal underneath. There was only one plastic cup for water. The toilet needed to be flushed multiple times just for urine. And the icing on the cake was in the bedroom, the wallpaper was stapled back to the wall over the bed. read more

We needed a place to stay in the area this passed few days and we decided to try this hotel and let me tell you this place was disgusting. The room smelled due to dirty and disgusting carpet in the room and in the hallways. It also smelled of fish as if they may be providing weekly rates for people. I discourage anyone to stay here unless you have disgusting habits then you will like this place. As for me and my family, we have a higher standard and we were completely disappointed. Ended up here for a night since all the other nicer hotels were all full during the long weekend. This Quality Inn is pretty basic. It is clean which is honestly the only thing that really matters. They have a pool, OK breakfast and are well located close to downtown which is just a couple of miles away. Their "gym" is small and just 3 machines if you are really motivated. I think something was having a party in Bldg 3 where the gym is located since I could smell pot. I ended up going to Club One which is across the street. read more

We walked to our room and had to carry our luggage upstairs. We open the door to the hallway and it smells like straight bleach. Everything about our stay here was great! The front desk staff were very pleasant to deal with and very helpful. The room was clean as were the rest of the grounds around the property. The complimentary breakfast was better than most as they included meat and eggs along with the typical continental style breakfast, definitely makes it more filling and tasty. It was cool and rainy during our stay so we didn't venture over to the pool. The hotel is within walking distance to a small strip mall and the Lagunitas Brewery and taproom. If you are towing a trailer, as we were, there is no trailer parking. The back of the lot looks like there is space, however it is a tow away zone so street parking is about the only option. read more
