This hotel is in a great convenient central location with easy access. It is about a 15-minute walk from downtown shops and restaurants. We discovered the great Petaluma mill shopping center and the other amazing places through their website. In summary, the Hampton Inn Petaluma is a comfortable hotel with affordable prices. The hospitality is exceptional, too. We can't wait for our Palm Springs trip with this Hampton hotel name brand again in the summer.

It's charming, beautiful place with a historic vibe and amazing staff. The Lobby hotel has a cozy atmosphere. We rented the Goldman ballroom and Brooklyn room upstairs. The staff was always very accommodating, helpful and courteous. Plenty of parking near the hotel but can be challenging at times but there is a parking garage about two blocks from the hotel. Without going into a lengthy explanation, there was some confusion regarding the rate I was quoted when I arrived. However, **the rate itself is not the reason for this poor review**. My disappointment was with the way General Manager Sara Martin handled the situation when I asked to discuss it. Had the situation been handled differently, I likely would have simply accepted the misunderstanding and continued my stay. Instead, I felt the response was essentially a "take it or leave it" attitude, so I chose option #2. I shortened my stay and found another hotel. I have stayed at this property many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. As a business owner myself, I understand that misunderstandings and problems happen. What matters is how management responds when they do. I believe part of management's responsibility is to listen to the customer and, when possible, try to find a reasonable solution that works for everyone. Unfortunately, I did not feel there was any real attempt to do that in this situation. I'm not sure where things will go from here, but what disappoints me most is feeling that I may have lost a very nice hotel option that I have enjoyed and returned to for many years. I would have much preferred to leave another positive review and continue being a returning guest.

Soo loved my stay here, my room was upstairs, loved the wood floor, the bed was so inviting and fluffed with such pretty comforter and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, nice clean towels and a thoughtful black small towel for makeup so guests don't ruin the white towels. The entire place was unbelievably clean and the complementary breakfast was superb. We had a delicious strawberry and banana crepe with whip cream and Nutella, hard boiled eggs and the slow drip coffee was such a cute touch. I didn't know what to do and the nice lady behind the counter was kind enough to show me. There is plenty of seating inside as there are outside. Just the cutest place in the back with bicycles lined up on the side, red and blue tables and chairs with umbrellas. Would love to come back and stay here for a few days. Not one person from staff said "hey ", let us come up to help you." Demanded to speak to GM. Non existent? NOT on property and they did not know his/ or her number? We spent 50 percent of our time going to and from the front desk as nothing worked. Dialed 2900 as the TV in Room said 2900 for Room Service There IS NO Room Service. Bar said we havent had room service in 10 YEARS. 10 Years ...still on TV Menu, TVs-worked when "it felt" like it only after trying 20 times to get the advertising OFF the screen of all their other world wide "Luxury" Hotels. Say what? Luxury? NO Laps pool as advertised. Non existent - just a teeny tiny Non working pool that said CLOSED. An old hidden gross jacuzzi, if u were lucky enough to find it, only big enough for 2 ppl, in a 400 room hotel? Sinks clogged daily. Not enough water to even flush toilets.Barely water to shower. And parking spaces filled with electrical trucks, PG&E, Propane Companies etc etc etc etc etc construction everywhere!!! both directions waking everyone up in this entire town. NO bicycles to get around, and our most favorite - We booked Because It showed a photo of a Luxury IN HOUSE Spa offering Facials and Massages. On Site. Non Existent. They took down the photo after hearing us complain, before we could snap a screen shot. Falling apart refrigerators. Video provided. Food that was so awful we threw away our meals twice. And the so called "up graded" EXTRA FEE paid, to the deluxe Top floor for appetizers drinks et . free 24/7. Crackers, and A Rotten Banana - Not even any WATER to make a cup of coffee with their own Coffee Machine. Literally folks. A ROTTEN Banana. We want a 110% REFUND for pain & unnecessary suffering and ruining our anniversary trip & house hunting which we have decided Never live anywhete near hereor youll regret it. Wouldnt buy a house near here if someone gifted it to us. Cons: - The hair dryer was missing from the bag labeled "hair dryer," and no one answered the phone at the front desk. We walked to the front desk to ask for a hair dryer and received a replacement. But once we got back to the room, that replacement didn't work and had to go back again for another hair dryer (which finally worked, yay~). - Shower water temperature didn't get very hot. Even at max temp, it was just barely hot. And I don't really take hot showers if it's not winter! The water pressure was okay, not weak but wouldn't call it strong either. - Room temperature was inconsistent. The thermostat wasn't accurate. I now travel with a portable thermometer (I'm a picky sleeper!), and the adjusting the thermostat would result in overshooting in either direction. It affected my sleep but I could also tell during waking hours. - House keeping didn't come clean one day. We came back in the evening so decided it was too late to call them to turnover the room. - Beds are too soft for firm mattress lovers. MT got some back pain by the end of our 4 night stay. - Toiletries downgraded from the last stay. Now they have Marriott-branded toiletries (not a big deal for me except for the lotion, since it didn't do much to hydrate my skin + tiny bottle). - The restroom door didn't slam shut this time, yay! Pros/improvements: - Still happy they have a relatively sizeable gym, which now has wipes! But there weren't any floor mats to use for floor exercises / stretching. - Big free parking lot. Never had issues finding a spot. There were also EV chargers available. - There were full sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles in the shower instead of tiny disposable ones-- hooray! Would be great if there was a full sized lotion bottle as well. Service was nice when we spoke to the front desk in person on checking in and for a hair dryer. There were too many slip ups to call this a smooth stay. We stayed here since we try to stick with the Marriott line of hotels, but I may try out another hotel next time.

They have a large free lot with no issues with parking. There's a pool and hot tub outside too. Check in and check out was easy, all the staff was friendly. The bartender was also very nice when I asked for glassware for the room. The room itself was good - clean, modern, nice view. This is a sufficient place to meet your needs if staying in Petaluma. It's central but requires driving everywhere. I would stay here again.

Our beds were so comfortable and we didn't hear much noise from the highway nearby (I do take my white noise machine though). The complimentary breakfast was awesome! They had lovely build your own breakfast sandwiches with fluffy biscuits, bacon, eggs, cheese, sauces, etc. They also had stellar potato wedges and batter for making your own big waffles. I had a long drive to get here and really appreciated that they let me check in when I showed up about an hour and a half before Check In Time. I understand that's not always possible. They're clean. And the beds? Comfortable! OK, the pillows leave a lot to be desired, but I knew that was the case and brought my own pillow from home. Now you know too. The TV is small, but serviceable. The internet is free. There's an outdoor swimming pool (open seasonally) and a jacuzzi (open year-round). One of the things I love most about this property is that the rooms have a good-sized Mini Fridge and also a small Microwave. Apparently for comic effect the rooms also have a little black plastic coffee maker that looks like it was purchased for $5 at a WalMart Black Friday sale in 2006. I mean, who in the world is still using hotel room coffee makers to make coffee in their rooms? Ew! Especially when there's free coffee and breakfast in the morning in the breakfast nook next to the Check in Desk. The breakfast was evidently way more appealing to other guests than it was to me. Nevertheless, I genuinely appreciated it, even if I thought the selections and the quality were just kind of OK. I stayed in building 6, the rooms are enclosed with a locked door to the building and found the hallway to be a little stuffy. The room was spacious, it was dark when I checked in, but my room had more than enough lamps and lights that brightened up the place. I found the carpet to be quite grungy though, I slept comfortably surprisingly. They provided enough towels, the bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water and found the fan was a bit loud. Again, this place kept me safe, was able to get great rest and I was able to request a late check out at 1 pm with no issues. Front desk lady was very pleasant. The complementary breakfast was wonderful - blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, fresh waffles, bananas, cereal, coffee. Oh and plenty of parking even with late night check in. Thank you.

My only two minor gripes is that there isn't a tissue box, or shampoo provided. $154 wasn't cheap, but this was a last minute reservation, and it was Labor Day weekend...still, this could've been at least $20 cheaper. On weekdays, you can you stay for less than $80. Oh well...regardless, this one nighter changed my perspective of Motel 6, and I would consider this corporate hotel chain again.

The tub is probably from the 70s (see my pictures), the porceline is removed in some spots and it's hard to tell if it's just rust or filth but it definitely did not look super clean. There were clean towels but there was a rag next to the sink that was not clean, pretty sure just left from the previous occupant. Now of course there are going to be bugs, oddly not a lot but any is not good. My wife found one ant on the bed. There were probably more if there's an ant on the bed but even one ant is one too many to be on a hotel bed where we're sleeping. There was one cockroach. A big dude, I saw no others but again, one is too many. The walls are paper thin. The idiots next door to us represented the clientele of the hotel pretty well - loud, rude and oblivious that other people exist. They were yelling for a long time and of course then had their loud sex session for the whole hotel to hear later. They were up most of the night being jerks. Every single person that drives a car in that parking lot thinks everyone wants to hear their crap music. We heard a lot of different music styles - none of it good and nothing we needed to hear that loud. But again, these people don't care about other people. I really feel like we were staying with a lot of people who stormed the Capital. There were lots of dogs - all were very nice but of course, as is the case with people like this, there were two dogs running around off leash all over the place. What is wrong with people? There was broken glass in the parking lot, two ice machines but only one worked (for about a minute, then stopped). There were soda and chip machines and as you'd expect, super expensive. There was one disposal razor in the machine they wanted $4.50 for. Mind boggling. Sadly, I'm sure no one who stays at that hotel shaves (or bathes really). On the plus side, it's walking distance to the breweries and starbucks. And they allow dogs. Always a plus. But we won't ever stay here again.
