The hotel was not clean. It was definitely in need of updating. Our bathroom was clean but there were only 2 out of 4 light bulbs. The towels are typical low end motel towels and only one hand towel was an available. The grab bar in the tub was missing. The shower head is low so if you are taller than 5'11 you will need to duck. The outlets on the side table lamps and side tables don't work. The bed looked like it had memories of that last couple to sleep there with indentations to match their positions. The breakfast would have been a typical hotel complimentary breakfast, except they never refilled anything. We got to the breakfast area with an hour left and the choices were meager. The staff was pleasant but the smell of carpet freshener was overwhelming. The bathroom off the lobby was dirty and out of hand towels. It was quiet. There was plenty of parking. read more

Very run down, for a place that has tried to have modern decor in this rooms, but dingy as hell and musty. Breakfast was horrible. The kicker was they wouldn't be flexible with their room charges, as I had been delayed coming into Pierre and wouldn't arrive until the next day after my original reservation date ...they still charged me for the night and were adamant that I had broken the 48 hour cancellation policy...how in the hell was I supposed to know about a flight delay 48 hours in advance?!?...guess you have to be psychic... read more

Anything is better than staying here. I would've rather slept in my car. Staff was nice, but pales in comparison to the actual care they give their patrons. First, we got to our room and the hotel key wouldn't work. Then had to switch rooms because the worker couldn't get it to work either. The room we had was disgusting, not only from the horrid smell, but the obvious unclean room. The floor had hair everywhere, along with dust bunnies and dead spiders/bugs. There were stains on the bedding and the sheets weren't even the correct size or tucked in. Along with sticky, unclean spots on a lot of the surfaces. Plus, the sink and shower got backed up and wouldn't drain, so there went the shower I really needed. Decided to skip the complimentary breakfast because of how disgusted we were and got the heck out of there as fast as we could. read more

When we check in Israel was the man. We got multiple rooms and he was fast and so nice, easy too talk too. He needs raise. Minus one star cause the laundry room was broken. Breakfast was good but need too go early or they will run out of food. Saw a guy complain but there was only 10 minutes till breakfast closes. Some people. Room was clean and AC work good. Shower could of had more power but that's me net picking. Once again can't say how helpfully and nice Israel was. Oh and the pool kids love it. read more

This place is disgusting, and the management is even worse!! Lock on door didn't work, whole property smelled horrible, place was beyond filthy, and they charged my card without my consent for "cleaning services"! HA!! They don't clean there!!! Online it says $100 for cleaning, but they charged me $250 and will not take my calls or call me back! I have been nothing but nice to them, so it's not an issue of a crazy customer, but they are doing illegal things and need to be shut down. I reported them to my bank, Choice Hotels Corporate Office and the South Dakota Attorney General. Do NOT stay here! read more

Ew. I paid almost $80 for this room with a 15% off discount. The mattress has stains on it and hair on the sheets. It smells like someone died in the room. Carpet is visible dirty. Pretty sure the sheets were not switched out or even removed from the mattress, I use to clean rooms... it looks like they just tucked the sheets back in but it's a pretty shorty tuck-in. When I first arrived there were 3 bikers outside being obnoxious and I overheard one of them say "I don't even like Indians." Like hold up man... you literally standing on Native American soil right now. I don't like YOU!! The staff was friendly, he didn't seem like he knew what he was doing when checking me in but he figured it out and was a very polite person. He was probably the person the biker was referring to now that I think about it... I hope someone kicks his Harley over. What a prick. read more

Do not stay at this property if you value your safety or the safety of your family. On 6/27/23 members of my family booked this hotel in Pierre SD for 2 adults, 2 children and confirmed that we were traveling with 2 dogs and agreed to the pet deposit. The hotel advertises an indoor pool. Upon our arrival we noted a exposed broken pane of glass that was in no way secured present in the main level, office/ laundry area facing the east parking lot. No warning signs or any type of action was taken to notify people walking by of the danger posed by this very large piece of broken glass. Upon entering the facility, noted dried clumps of mud, very stained and foul smelling carpet and upon looking at the pool, well I've seen cleaner swamps. There was a notice the pool was closed due to a guest having gone into the pool with hair products that caused the problem. We then tried to book at another hotel in Pierre and it's sister city Ft Pierre but there was not room available in either towns. We did go to our room # 226 and found the duvet covers stained/soiled, the mattered were encased in zipped protective covers and no evidence of bed bugs was found. That evening I noted that my 3 month old puppy had gone behind the bed frame and wall and came out with a dark green object in his mouth. He dropped it, I was not sure what it was so using a Kleenex I picked it up and noted the letters THC imprinted within a triangle on the object which was a THC gummy. The puppy weight is 5 pounds and even tho he did not eat the THC just having it in his mouth caused him to vomit, have tremors, be extremely lethargic and difficult to arouse. Called pet poison control line for advise as there is not an emergency pet hospital available. I went to the front desk explained this situation to the staff, I was given a broom and dust pan to sweep our room looking for any more drugs. I asked what I should do with the gummy and was told " I don't want it". I then called law enforcement who did come quickly to test the gummy to make sure there was no fentynal, meth or cocaine, which there was not, only high dose THC manufactured in Nevada per the markings on the gummy. The staff working that evening offered to reverse the pet room charges, which she did and documented the incident in the hotels communication log book she also tried to reverse the room charge but was unable to do so. She was genuinely concerned about the puppy and what had occurred. After monitoring the puppy all night he was slow to recover it did improve. I took the dogs for a walk around the facility in the morning and a woman started to follow me. She approached me and started demanding the 30.00 pet fee. I was stunned, she did not introduce herself, she showed no concern for the puppy's health in any way, just kept demanding 30.00. I finally informed her the charges had been reversed last evening by the staff working since my puppy had found illegal drugs in our room and endangered his life, not to mention my 2 grandchildren and I believed 30.00 should be the least of her concerns. A man was sitting in a car who then said something, I was not able to understand their conversation as it was in a different language, but the lady then said you can go. Absolutely no concern for the puppy, the safety and effects on all of us. Only concern was 30.00 for a filthy, run down, poorly remodeled room. I later learned that the woman and man are the management team for this property. A report has been made to the SD department of Health regarding the broken window, the advertisement of a pool, which upon reading numerous older reviews has been closed for many months and the response by hotel management to the situation with drugs in our room endangering public health including my family and pets. I realize it's tough out there to find help, just retired after a 40 year nursing career and the pandemic but do better. If you can't keep your property and your guests safe then maybe you're not meant to be in the hospitality business. The puppy was seen by a vet, lab work did show some organ damage from the THC but this should resolve in time. This property should not be open to the public until it has improved its safety and facility read more

I had stayed at this hotel 2 previous years with no issues. This year (2021) was something else all together. Arrived at about 10 pm and had booked 6 nights for 2 of us with a 2 queen bed room. Upon arrival check in went well and we unloaded all of our gear (hunting pheasants) up to the second floor. Noticed immediately the bathroom was filthy and had not been cleaned with hair and other bodily fluids on and in the toilet. Light fixture was so full of bugs it barely put out light. Holes in the walls. Pulled back blankets on bed and there were stains (urine, hair and blood) on sheets and pillow case. Desk guy was notified and I requested someone to remake the beds...no can do...went in the back room and handed me "clean" sheets from a hamper for twin beds. Does the capitol of the State of South Dakota have a health inspector? We ended up in sleeping bags on top of the disgusting comforters, and checked out at 5 am. That was November 9 of 2021. After 4 different phone calls to get my money refunded to my credit card it took until January 27th to resolve. They simply ignored my requests for a refund, and I had to dispute the charges through credit card company to resolve. Avoid this property at all costs. If you have to sleep in your car you will thank me for that advice. Ended up across the street at a nicer place at a reasonable price. They did reach out to me and I sent the photos I had taken of the sheets, and especially the mattress pad...but way to late for that. read more

Struggled with internet service. Never did get the problem resolved. Breakfast was average. Bed was very comfortable. TV channel was poor.

This was the filthiest room I've ever stayed in, and I travel a lot. Stains on the carpet and bed covers. Carpet not vacuumed, with sand, small pebbles, and even an unopened cough drop on it. Surfaces were not wiped, a sticky substance and sesame seeds was on the nightstand and dresser. Urine stains were around the toilet. Mirror had toothpaste and water spots on it. Tile was filthy. TV didn't work. $90 plus for that? I will never stay in that hotel again, and I'm in Pierre once a month. I was warned about it but decided to give it a shot since Holiday Inn Express and AmericInn were full. read more

Nice staff, rooms are what you'd expect and clean. The pool however... Freezing cold water, and is treated by dumping a gallon of bleach in the water. The fumes in the pool room about knock you out. read more

The pool was not in working order but I thought the room, staff and accommodations were very good for the cost. Parking for vehicle and boat trailer a plus. Ran out of breakfast items but when asked they were re-supplied. I travel quite a bit and stay at hotels often. I believe this hotel provided better than average accommodations in the budget hotel sector and would stay there again without reservation. read more
