We host a event at this hotel every year. We had competitors with some staff members staying there, received complaints about the cleanliness of the rooms as well as the lack of towels and linens. They told hotel staff but was told they didn't have any but laundry would come in Saturday then they will receive clean sheets and towels. In addition to the rooms being nasty, I was unable to get anyone on the phone Sunday and most of Monday. After repeated calls. I finally did talk to someone who claim to be the manager. After explaining to him the issues that included the unclean sheet to which my staff member had to go out and buy some to sleep on, as well as the nasty living conditions of the room. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do because the issue was not recorded when it happened. I told them that staff was notified because how would they know that laundry would be out on Saturday and they can receive some then if staff was not notified. After some going back and forth he said that there was nothing they could do. He had customers in front of him and proceeded to hang up in my face. Health hazard and no accountability -- do not stay in Room 114, instead find yourself a clean cardboard box. I stayed one night at the Quality Inn in Trussville, AL and was placed in Room 114, which turned out to be severely unsanitary and possibly dangerous to ANYONE'S health. The room smelled overwhelmingly of cigarettes and mildew, with visible burn holes in the comforter and furniture. I later learned it was a designated smoking room -- though I was never asked or warned at check-in that I'd be placed in one, and no effort was made to ensure I was okay with that. But the real issue wasn't just the smell -- the air conditioning unit was blowing mold or mildew all night long across the room. I woke up feeling sick, and all of my clothes and bags were so heavily contaminated that the odor remains even after washing. I had to throw away some of my clothing due to the intensity of the stench and nausea. I brought this up to management, and my concerns were essentially dismissed. No acknowledgment of the potential health risk, no offer to make it right, and no responsibility taken. I escalated to Choice Hotels corporate, who offered me 10,000 reward points -- which doesn't come close to covering the damages or reflect the seriousness of the situation. I declined the points. If you value your health, your belongings, and a basic standard of cleanliness, I strongly recommend avoiding this property. At best, this was neglect -- at worst, a hazard that should be inspected. I anticipate someone with less patience will be filing a lawsuits soon. read more

The good part: service and price. Everyone was polite, professional, attentive. Our AC died but the night manger quickly set us up with another room. Overall clean but worn rooms. Floor was laminate rather than carpet (so no moldy smells). Free wifi, decent TV, decent beds. The bad parts: AC died, and the other room's AC sounded really tired. Both rooms had loose bathroom door knobs. It's a motel, not hotel. Main view is of Comfort Inn right beside it (which didn't look any better). Pool did not look usable but it was small. Outdoor coke machine required quarters and was not refrigerated. Breakfast was just a few bagged continental items due to covid, so we passed on those. Staff worked as hard as any 3-star, physical property is a clean but worn-out 2 star. I would NOT recommend it for business travel or vacation, just a utilitarian place to sleep/shower. With those expectations, this is place is ok for that. read more

Looks nice enough from the street but the room was another story. First off, the "security" piece on the door was missing, ripped off by a previous violent action. The bed covers had multiple very easily seen stains. The door handles for the bathroom were hanging and the door was incapable of shutting. The chair for the desk was horribly worn and a clearly broken light fixture in the corner of the room was still plugged in!! If I had not been driving for 12 hours I would have gone to the front desk and demanded the 117.00 I was charged!!! I will never again stay in a "Quality" Inn and I will be contacting the corporate office to express my feelings and share the photos I took. read more

We were in town for a nascar race that got rained out!!! Sooo ... there were not any hotel availabilities no where around!! We were not planning on staying the night, but the race was postponed to the next day. This hotel was booked through Priceline. I think they may have special rooms set up JuST for Priceline customers. We booked our room and got a discount through Priceline. We couldn't get a room assignment though until we checked in. Well the person checking us in told me right away the door handle is BROKEN and we need to pull up on it to get in. Unfortunately we couldn't make any changes to the reservation bec again we booked through Priceline. We go to the room and sure enough the door handle is practically holding on by a wire. We pull up on it as instructed and notice the place where the card goes is broken too. Well anyway, it finally opened and everything looked ok by standing in the doorway.. however upon closer inspection we found a half full bottle of water, dirty towels folded and hung (they look like they still had makeup stains on them!!) the bed spread had stains and the window didn't have any blinds and curtains barely closed. I had to put an ice Bucket on top of them to hold them shut! Dont get me started on the disgusting filthy trifling chair in the room!! See pictures... I contemplated just sleeping in the car but it was a bad storm during this time ... Luckily I travel with sanitizer, Lysol, and extra blankets. Tip: you should do the same. read more

This is a great, no-frills stay for the cheapest rates. No gym, rooms are well-worn, very modest breakfast (cereal, yogurt, fruit). No carpet on the floors but I was surprised that the floors were some of the cleanest I've ever seen at an affordable hotel. Staff was very friendly and professional, they have someone at the counter 24/7. I forgot to bring a computer cord with me and had to order a new one express through Amazon, front desk held it for me no issues. Location is removed from the high-crime rates of Birmingham, quiet in the early hours with fast food close by. I felt safe jogging in the early morning around this area. If you're doing a quick business trip or you don't spend much time in the room, you won't beat this value. read more

A family member booked this place for me for a multi-day trip. Had I known how dirty it would be, I would not have even come. The non-smoking room smelled like smoke. There was a cigarette burn in one of the comforters. There were stains on every fabric surface. All of the towels appeared stained/dirty. There was hair in the shower and by the sink. There were potato chip crumbs on the floor next to one of the beds. Also, our toilet was barely functioning. Someone also OD'd while we were there and it apparently wasn't the first time. Would not recommend. You could find an Airbnb for the same money in a safer location. read more

Other than being nasty they are so rude. First of all there was a roach in the coffee pot in the room, second the floors were horrid and slippery and I actually slipped and twisted my ankle. Then I was accused of taking the entire king sized bed spread and comforter because I placed it in the housekeepers bin for her. Then I was told I would be charged $2.50 for towel that they claim I removed, which I did not On top of that there was old food in the mini fridge and the toilet had excrement caked on the rim. Towels were stained as well as bedsheets and the tv remote had dead batteries. The baseboards were discussing and I found a old rotten looking pair of ladies things in the cushion of the chair. Lady at the front desk was rude. Our "non-smoking" room smelled like an ash tray. The bathroom/tub had pubes everywhere. The sink didn't drain unless you held the drain cover up the entire time. This is a standard Quality Inn but seems clean, and I would stay here again. The front desk clerk was nice and made me feel welcome. The exterior is one of the white former Jameson Inns. Those always seem a little nicer. My room was on the bottom floor and had a faux wood vinyl floor in the bathroom. The furnishings were updated and I didn't see any extreme wear. The room was slightly scented with air freshener, but not so much that it bothered my asthma. The biggest con is that the bathroom shower had no water pressure. It was a miserable experience washing my hair. The bed was ok -- not memorable. But the sheets were clean, and I didn't see any bugs. I didn't eat the breakfast or use the pool. It was a decent experience. Nothing unusual, which is sometimes all you want. Good location, reasonable price. I'm glad I overlooked some of the negative reviews. read more

They shut me down so fast telling me it was a roach because our room was at the end of the building next to the dumpsters. Small, economical family hotel. We have been staying here for the past couple of years during Talladega weekend. They have added some upgrades and it has made the place much nicer. The staff is super nice and helpful. The pool is clean. Our room was clean and so was the bedding. This place is by no means fancy but it's a good deal. BUYER BEWARE!! We checked in at 9pm after a 7 hour drive. We fell into bed and tried to get some much needed sleep. The door on the room would not fully close, the latch was broken and the security bolt would not latch. Bathroom door is broken and will not close without you having to lift up hard on it. The room is absolutely filthy. Waking up this morning, we realized in the daylight just how bad this place is. Oh, and the "breakfast" they advertise is laughable... a tiny yogurt and a frozen cheddar cheese "omelette" that I would never even feed to my dog. Frustrated, we went out to breakfast and decided there was no way we could stay another night with our daughter in these conditions. So, at 12:40 pm we went to the front desk and explained our situation. They insisted we pay for the full second night and refused to acknowledge (let alone apologize) for the horrible conditions of the room. In the end, they charged us 100% for the first night and 50% of the second night (which we didn't stay). So, we had to scramble to find another property, pay way more than we had budgeted and go through a ton of hassle because this place was WAY over advertised. Another reviewer said something like "typical of a Quality Inn"... that couldn't be further from the truth. We have stayed at many Quality Inns before and this is NOT up to their standards. Advice: RUN, DON'T WALK, AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You would literally be better sleeping in your car. read more

Just stayed here for Talladega weekend 10/16/14 - 10/20/14. PROS: For the price, it is sooo worth it! Rooms are clean enough, easy access to the Interstate and Hwy 11. Rooms are updated, and have refrigerators and microwaves in the room. CONS: NO WIFI!! They claim they have it but the signal is so weak we had no internet the whole time. The room appears clean but we found glass on our carpet and the toilet bowl was growing mold. There is free breakfast but if you want to eat past 8:00 you are out of luck. I would have rated this hotel much higher, however we lost our ID at a restaurant and when our waitress came all the way to our hotel to return it (we had told her where we were staying) they front desk person (a man) said he wouldn't help. He wouldn't take the ID, and wouldn't even call our room to see if we could come claim it ourselves. They didn't even tell us someone came with the ID - NOTHING! I was really disappointed in this, not looking out for their customer's best interest and safety at all. read more

Three stars due to the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the gentleman at the front desk. However two of the five nights we stayed we noticed some sketchy looking people staying in the rooms on either side of our room and smelled pot very strongly on both nights near and even in our room. Our last night the pot smell was quite strong and there was a weird guy sitting in a chair on the landing in front of the window to our room when we came back from dinner. Creepy. Probably safe to say there's some drug activity going on at this location. Also, breakfast and coffee are included in the charge for your stay, served from 6 to 9 in the morning however the selection of breakfast items was not very appealing. The coffee cups were tiny so that if you wanted to drink a regular cup of coffee you would need to take two. All in all I'd say if I had to do it again I'd choose to stay elsewhere next time. read more

We were turned away despite a reservation during a Category 5 HURRICANE!!! My home was ground zero for direct hit from Irma on Florida's west coast. My husband and I with our 2 dogs and 3 cats were evacuating less than 24 hours before Tropical storm force winds were predicted to hit. We had made a reservation, through Choice rewards, at 4 AM for this Quality Inn as it was close to where other family members had evacuated to. We informed them of our pets but since this hotel was a pet friendly place and there were such special circumstances we were told this would not be a problem. After driving for over 15 hours on no sleep, at 5 PM we arrived and we were turned away . The clerk was uninterested in helping us. He talked to the manager, we could hear him, but there was no attempt to plead our case or try to compromise like asking us to leave our 3 cats in our truck. It was one of the worst experiences of my life as we were literally fleeing for our lives, packing up and driving all night and day and had every expectation of losing our only home and everything we owned. His indifference was inhumane!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never stay at a Quality Inn again in my life and am telling all of my family and friends about what happened to us. read more

I give a 1 star rating only because that is the minimum to make a review. My wife and I stopped here Oct. 16,2015.I was told there was only 1 room left so I took it as we were tired from a long trip. The carpet was filthy,shower rod falling off,walls stained,ceiling peeling, toilet filthy and crooked, and the a/c-heating unit sounded like someone shaking a box of rocks when it cycled on.There was a large cigarette burn on the comforter also. I wrote 2 emails to the corporate office,with photos, 1 letter mailed to Corporate, and 2 phone calls to Customer Service. Have not heard 1 word in reply. For this disgusting evening I paid $99.16! By the way, the outside looked clean but beware. This isn't necessarily a slam to all Quality Inns as we've stayed at others (including on this trip) that were fine;but this one was awful and nobody seems to care. Wish we had checked room first; driven 16 hours and just needed good night's sleep. Room was nasty. I was afraid we would take home bed bugs; hope not. Left at 4 a.m. because room stunk. Carpet was so filthy, had to put down towels just to walk on it. In 35 years of traveling, this was the worst, nasty room we have ever stayed in. This was a great place to stay! The room was large enough, for my husband and I (King room). It was extra clean too. Bed was comfy. Don't normally eat breakfast, so I can't comment on that either way, but the room was great. The only, and I mean ONLY thing that concerned me, was that whatever housekeeping uses to clean the shower, made it very slippery. (The shower itself was fabulous though!) read more
