Overall consistently have been happy with everything I have eaten, but I will say that while still pretty good the burgers are not as good as they were early on. One of the big draws for me has always been the outdoor patio area that is shared with the other businesses that are part of the Trussville Entertainment District (TED). The covering over the area keeps you out of the direct sun but still has a very open air feel. On my most recent visit I got the Feral Smash Burger with Cheddar instead of American Cheese. I ordered the tots for my side because I swore that I had gotten them many times in the past. Looking back at all my photos, clearly I was mistaken. Since I am not a big fan of sweet potato the bartender brought me fries instead to go with my side of Beer Cheese which is well worth the added cost. Depending on when you go, you may have to go inside to order at the bar for the outdoor seating (such as I did today). Other days when the TED is busier and peak times you can order at the outdoor bar. For solo lunch dining I prefer other options in the TED but Ferus is great for groups and outdoor dining. I am sure I will be back especially when my daughter comes to town since she likes to refill her growler with the seasonal sours.

Sure, some call it "the experience," but that falls flat when the service is completely lacking. One rainy night, my friends and I walked from farther away in pouring rain, shook off our coats and umbrellas outside, and stepped in dripping, only to be met with stares and zero help. We felt judged from the moment we entered. (WARNING: make sure you dress like you have money or whatever, not that we were in slacks or anything). The waiter that evening was also so snobby, inattentive, and provided terrible customer service. Ambiance is meh. So dark and crowded, no privacy. The food is equally disappointing: wildly overpriced with no real flavor balance. Dishes come out either bland and plain or excessively salty. Not once across three visits did anything impress me, and I've never left having enjoyed myself. So, I'm really not sure what the hype is about this place. Birmingham people always hype up the wrong places Save your money. there are far better options in Birmingham for the price.

You honestly don't need bacon to make everything palatable. Hummus was really good. The za'atar vinaigrette was a unique touch. I am taking more of the vinaigrette to go with my leftovers. It's a quiet, cloudy Saturday afternoon but I heard some other folks commenting on how busy they were for New Year's. Best experience I've had here. I'll be back.

Very friendly. Loved the brussel sprouts with balsamic, apple and bacon. My fish tacos were good but the fish of the day was fishy and slightly dry. My husband had the pork belly tacos and again the pork was dry. He also had the lobster Mac and cheese. This had good flavor but was watery in the bottom. The lobster was shredded throughout and not lumped. Worth a visit.

Made the decision to turn in and try Sanctuary; how fortuitous! First, this isn't just a music venue! It's a classic bar with real cocktails (mocktails, as well), but also a great reincarnation of an old church. And they serve awesome food!! Second, the drinks and food are top notch! Try a Paper Plane! It's my new favorite way to drink bourbon, TBH. You will absolutely feel distinguished while you do. I overheard many professionals around me, too, so it's definitely a place to run elbows with University types. Finally, I love music. This place has different musicians all the time. But my favorite is Dr. Warren Ertle's Corpse Revivers, an old fashioned Jazz band! They play two shows a night, almost every Tuesday! I say "almost" because, well, ...just check the Sanctuary's facebook page before you invite friends to a show. (Ask me how I know!) Overall, it's a great time, try the tacos!!

I got a marg ($8) and the baked pimento cheese dip to start - served with pita. ($7) I loved my pan seared scallops with grits and broccolini. The cranberry bacon "jam" really adds so much flavor and create the perfect bite when you add all components together. ($34) Dad and David got the meatloaf and loved. It comes with house made BBQ, potatoes and broccolini. ($28) Perfect for when you want to go to an upscale meal but still have to make your man happy - this is literally a "meat and potatoes" dish. Mom got the Paneed chicken with brown butter sauce, mashed potatoes and spinach. She had no complaints! ($28) Service was very friendly and parking was no issue at all! Hours most days are only for dinner. Candelit tables glistened under soft industrial lighting, wood and brick accents, with a full service bar (and it was full of customers when we first came in, finally dwindling down to two at the bar by the time we left after 9pm). Our waiter, Parker, was great. Tables were close to where you can hear conversation of others, but not too overpowering to where it takes away from your experience. The chicken marsala was BEAUTIFUL. Seasoned well, tender, and just enough sauce and complements. I don't even like mushrooms all that well but the little tiny ones they had were a great accent to the meal and I enjoyed them. We shared the appetizer of fries and marsala, but the menu is not over the top to where prices are not reasonable. Four stars because seating was apparently difficult on the lower back. Both my husband and I's back were bothering us the evening to follow, but it was worth the wonderful date night!

We made a reservation for 8:15 and arrived a little early but they have a table ready for us. The restaurant is decorated nicely with a very nice bar right when you walk into the entrance. Our waiter recommended several items off the menu. We decided to start with the meatballs and the grillled watermelon as appetizers. The meatballs were great, I like the sauce and the burrata on top. The grilled watermelon was a unique blend of flavors but they melded very well together. It was yellow watermelon that had been grilled with arugula, feta and hot honey. For the main course we got the chicken alla vodka and the chicken pamigana. Both dishes were fantastic with homemade pasta, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce for both dishes was flavorful. For dessert we went with the chocolate torte. I enjoyed the dessert but the other folks at the table were not fans of the basil lemon gelato. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner and we will be back.
