I have a 12 year old Maine Coon cat, she has squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth that has spread…read moreto her two front paws. She is a happy cat that in spite of her disease is in suprisingly good health. She dose however require more frequent grooming as the cancer will cause her fur to become sticky and matted as a result of her grooming herself, this also causes her to have a foul Oder. My regular Groomer would not be available for three weeks, after calling several groomers in the area I found The Shaggy Dog pet groomers of Rocky Point. Brenda seemed very compassionate and caring as I explained our cats health issues and grooming need. I explained that I once had to have her completely shaved because she became so matted so fast and with more frequent grooming and shaving just her belly we have been able to avoid having her shaved again. She is after all a long haired cat! Brenda assured me all would be fine and I could bring her in this coming Saturday At 2PM. On Saturday my Husband dropped off our cat and again explained to Brenda her health issues and odor due to her cancer. He even explained that should she need to shave the matting to shave only belly. again Brenda assured him that it will all be ok. Two hours later Brenda Called she was all ready to be picked up. upon arrival our cat was in her carrier and ready to go. Brenda began to explain that she did in fact have to shave the matted fur, as my husband looked closer he was shocked to see a completely shaved cat. when asked why she shaved our cat her response was well you had her shaved before, that she was matted. She was only matted on her underbelly and leg area. She also said "What is that Smell!" After we had already explained that it is from the cancer. She took it upon herself to shave our cat without informing us first that she was going to do that. Any reputable groomer would notify the animals owner if they plan on making a drastic change to their look. Brenda did not do this. Both my husband and I gave her very clear instructions what to do and NOT to shave her body. She did not listen. Unfortanetly my cat will probably pass away from cancer before she ever gets her fur to grow back completely. I am so angry that this has happened. I will never use this groomer again nor will I ever recommend her.

Today was the second time that we used Michele at Emerald city for our grooming needs. We picked up…read moreour dogs and they looked like they just walked out of a street dumpster. They were shaved and full of bloody scrapes and cuts and their haircut is just awful. My little guy's nails look like they were cut on a cheese grater. When we discussed our disappointment with her via text, she responded with no dignity and no class. She defended herself and spoke rudely to us and had every excuse in the book as to why they were cut that way. I have never seen my beautiful dogs look so terrible. Also, as a groomer, you are to notify the owners if you think the dog needs to be shaved that low due to mats. My dogs do not have mats and if any of them did by any chance, we should've been notified of this prior to her taking it upon herself to do such a drastic, uneven job. Any reputable business owner would not justify their mistakes via a text war, they would acknowledge and sympathize with the angry customer who just paid a ton of money and did anything to make it right. She was texting so many times that I had to block her from my mother's phone. The way she displays her social media and her love for animals is not what you get in person. Save your money. You've been warned. (See after grooming photos and a before photo of our beautiful babies day before the grooming appointment.) UPDATE: After my mom blocked her from texting, she started texting me and threatening me.

As a loyal customer of many years, I do not advise anyone to go to this groomer. Our gut always…read moretold us something was off, as she is extremely rude and requests tips for her own business, but we never acted on it until the final straw happened. I am sure I will get a lengthy, unprofessional response from her on here defending herself regarding how "matted" my dog was or how her "machine prompts her to ask for a tip". Which she has done to all other reviews prior. I have had doodles for years and know when it is bad which is why I have always been understanding with her. This was not that time. What it comes down to is that she just doesn't want to groom our doodles anymore and no longer needs our business. Business owners should not give a price ahead of time and change it during the service. And as the owner just said in her response to me on Fb (see photo), she has been shaved down like this many times. I have always trusted her judgment, considering I have been a loyal client since before she even owned this place with my families other doodles. She was on the owners schedule, 6 weeks. She decided that schedule just as she decided to keep her longer at the grooming 6 weeks prior and not tell me that it would cost more to keep her that way. Considering I was told prices via texts from the owner, I wouldn't think to go check her prices at the shop or on FB. See the screenshot from the end of 2024 of her confirming her prices for a 6 week schedule. She decided to change prices and rules, and not tell us that at drop off, but instead during the service. At the end of the day it is fine. We found a new groomer that is kind, reasonably priced, has availability, and treats our dogs well. She doesn't take numerous dogs at a time either and then get flustered when the dog comes in dirty considering it's the job groomers sign up for. Good luck to her and to all of her clients that have to deal with her rude and unprofessional personality! #bringbackeileen See photos for our discourse. I asked every question under the sun at my dog's evaluation, and every answer was the one I was looking for. Additionally, my dog is not an 'easy' dog, he can be standoffish with strangers, but every staff member knew how to approach him without my having to comment, and he settled in really well. I appreciate especially their honesty when I asked if Arlo played with any other dogs - instead of lying to me and saying "of course!" without thinking, they explained to me that he needs to get used to a new environment and that "the play will come." That answer was stellar, and I feel comfortable knowing that staff will give me uncomfortable truths when they are needed rather than sugar coating their answers for a sale. I know my dog well, and their description of his behavior today was on point, I know for a fact that staff was watching him carefully and that makes me happy. I am glad to have a place to bring him now that I no longer work in the industry, it's a huge weight off of my shoulders. As to the reviews stating that the place smells - I have twice walked in during what seemed like rush hour and smelled nothing other than typical 'dog' smell, so I'm not sure what all that is about.
