Shout out to Emerald City Dog Spa in Rocky Point! Letting everyone with doggies they love in on our little secret- they are fantastic for both GROOMING and BOARDING!!! Hello everyone! I don't normally post on social media anymore but I had to give a shout out and review for Emerald City Dog Spa INC. In Rocky Point!! We recently left Daisy (77 lb sheepadoodle) and Duffy (42 lb Wheaton terrier) with Michelle at Emetald Emerald City Dog Spa INC. For 8 days while we went on a vacation. We will never go anywhere else again!! So many wonderful things to say it's actually easier if I list them lol - They had a lovely large room (12' x 10'?) all their own, with their own window looking outside to boot! They had so much room!! - they got to play outside in a fenced in safe play area under her supervision - she played with them and fussed with their food the whole 8 days finding ways to have our very picky eaters eat! - they were under camera supervision as well as her supervision and kept safe at all times - Michelle texted us and sent photos throughout each day making us feel relaxed and at ease knowing they were in great hands - Michelle takes only one family at a time so we knew there were no other dogs to worry about - Before coming home they each got a bath and blowout and were so soft and smelled so lovely - and best of all - Michelle was just lovely to work with. She was so friendly, helpful, and caring we feel like we've met a new friend. So there it is! For everyone else like us that worries about our babies I had to post this, and as a big thank you to Michelle too- Oh- and she is fantastic at making them look beautiful. Duffy is a hot mess when it comes to grooming and she is patiently getting him to relax and go with the flow. They always come out fantastic But now that I wrote this- you guys better not hog her so much we can't get in!! read more

Today was the second time that we used Michele at Emerald city for our grooming needs. We picked up our dogs and they looked like they just walked out of a street dumpster. They were shaved and full of bloody scrapes and cuts and their haircut is just awful. My little guy's nails look like they were cut on a cheese grater. When we discussed our disappointment with her via text, she responded with no dignity and no class. She defended herself and spoke rudely to us and had every excuse in the book as to why they were cut that way. I have never seen my beautiful dogs look so terrible. Also, as a groomer, you are to notify the owners if you think the dog needs to be shaved that low due to mats. My dogs do not have mats and if any of them did by any chance, we should've been notified of this prior to her taking it upon herself to do such a drastic, uneven job. Any reputable business owner would not justify their mistakes via a text war, they would acknowledge and sympathize with the angry customer who just paid a ton of money and did anything to make it right. She was texting so many times that I had to block her from my mother's phone. The way she displays her social media and her love for animals is not what you get in person. Save your money. As a loyal customer of many years, I do not advise anyone to go to this groomer. Our gut always told us something was off, as she is extremely rude and requests tips for her own business, but we never acted on it until the final straw happened. I am sure I will get a lengthy, unprofessional response from her on here defending herself regarding how "matted" my dog was or how her "machine prompts her to ask for a tip". Which she has done to all other reviews prior. I have had doodles for years and know when it is bad which is why I have always been understanding with her. This was not that time. What it comes down to is that she just doesn't want to groom our doodles anymore and no longer needs our business. Business owners should not give a price ahead of time and change it during the service. And as the owner just said in her response to me on Fb (see photo), she has been shaved down like this many times. I have always trusted her judgment, considering I have been a loyal client since before she even owned this place with my families other doodles. She was on the owners schedule, 6 weeks. She decided that schedule just as she decided to keep her longer at the grooming 6 weeks prior and not tell me that it would cost more to keep her that way. Considering I was told prices via texts from the owner, I wouldn't think to go check her prices at the shop or on FB. See the screenshot from the end of 2024 of her confirming her prices for a 6 week schedule. She decided to change prices and rules, and not tell us that at drop off, but instead during the service. At the end of the day it is fine. We found a new groomer that is kind, reasonably priced, has availability, and treats our dogs well. She doesn't take numerous dogs at a time either and then get flustered when the dog comes in dirty considering it's the job groomers sign up for. I'm new to the Rocky Point area and needed to find a place that could handle my 110 pound overly dramatic big baby (dog) Rocky for his nail clipping. I've previously had to bring Rocky always to his vet because I was not able to find any groomer that could handle Rocky. It's also such a big process for me as I have to sedate him starting the day before. I met Michele of Emerald City Dog Spa and she was more than willing to take on Rocky as a new client. I was a bit skeptical at first as it's always been such a chore with multiple people having to wrangle Rocky JUST to have his nails clipped. Michele was super welcoming and friendly and successfully clipped all of Rocky's nails. I am forever grateful to have found her and would recommend for anyone who needs this service to go to Emerald City Dog Spa! I booked Emerald City Dog Spa to board my 6-month-old puppy for the first time. Beforehand, I messaged the owner to coordinate a meet-and-greet at her facility, so she was fully aware of his age and personality. My puppy has never been boarded before, but he has gone to doggy daycare and done fine with other dogs--he just takes a little while to settle into new environments. My boyfriend mentioned this to her, and she said she would see how he did and let us know if there were any issues. About an hour later, she called to say he was barking and clawing at the door and she was worried he might break through the plywood doors due to scratching. She told us he needed to be picked up. Her boarding profile claims the facility is "the perfect setting for especially nervous or aggressive dogs," that she has boarded first-timers, puppies, senior dogs, and dogs rejected from other facilities, and that she's even been called "the dog whisperer" multiple times. With all this advertised experience, I expected more ability to handle normal adjustment behavior from a young dog. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend Emerald City Dog Spa. read more

Our two dogs stayed with Michelle for 8 days, and they couldn't have been better cared for. Rather than stay in a small "cell" in one of those pet chain's so-called "hotels," they had their own room with a view of the outside. That's the great thing about Emerald City. They only take one dog family at a time. She played with them, and they had plenty of outdoor time to get their energy out. She made sure they ate every day, not easy for picky dogs. And she texted us photos to show us how well they were doing every day. We can't thank Michelle enough for her watching our two fur babies. Highly recommended!!! read more

I just picked up both my girls from Michelle. I was so nervous as this was my first time "boarding" them. This was NOTHING like boarding!! I got photo updates all day/night, they had a huge room with a big window & window sill for them to hang out. Michelle has a fenced in yard for them to run around and play in as well! They also came back smelling amazing! I never thought I'd "board" them, but I'd totally do it again! Good pricing and I felt at ease the entire time. read more

Nice people, unimpressive grooming. I brought three toy dogs in, one came out ok and the other two not good at all. The two were rushed in my opinion at the end of the day. Had to trim them myself afterwards. I spoke with the staff and expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a refund on the two dogs and was told we don't give refunds. After some debate I gave up. No stars! way to over priced! I tried this groomer 2x both times way too over priced. This last time almost $65 for just a wash and nail cut that was done in less then 2 hrs. Didn't even give our dog a cute bandana for that price . Never ever again will we be going there or recommending this grooming place to anyone! read more

Addendum - even more horrible than I thought! After sharing my review here, the owner has responded with paragraphs in reply and essays in personal messages with outrageous insults. What kind of small business owner is this? Again, such a sharp fall from what this business was like with the prior owner. HORRIBLE - do not bring your dog here!! Told me to "go f*** myself"!! Bring them literally anywhere else!! Ever since the old owner left this place has gone completely downhill. The new staff is ineffective, did not even brush my dog - she came out with mats and leaves still in her tail. The hair they did cut is choppy and uneven. Her ears are flaming red and she is in pain. They missed clipping nails. They REQUESTED a tip, were holding my dog in a dark room in the back, and the assistants bedside manner was horrible. They did not do the job and when I asked for a refund she said "go f*** yourself". Atrocious business, shocking way to treat animals and customers. A follow up after the owner responded claiming falsely that I "cursed her out"- I have since read and heard multiple bad reviews about Michele from the community (so this is clearly not a first!). They did not do the job as they claim, and if they think that's a good job....even worse! If a client of a small business is unhappy, it is not wise to tell them to "go f*** themselves". If you are sad about having a bad interaction with an unhappy client, you would offer to fix it, offer a refund, offer a coupon... literally anything besides "go f*** yourself". Bad reputation, bad behavior, bad business, bad treatment of animals. You should be ashamed of yourself. read more

Edit: I couldn't figure out how to respond to the owner so I am putting it here: She continually told me I was wrong about the time and yes was very nasty about how she said it. She also said that I was supposed to be here at 9 several times and definitely in that time had a chance to respond in a way that would have been more professional. A response of simply it must have been a misunderstanding would have been appropriate instead of constantly coming back with you a nasty response of you were supposed to be her at 9. I asked my daughter when we were leaving if I was wrong and she said absolutely not, she was very nasty! Next time think about how you treat your customers especially a new one who isn't used to your routines. We tried to go to Emerald City for our dog. We made an appointment and waited almost two weeks. I am a mom with two extremely active teenagers and a very busy schedule, so when I make an appointment I write everything talked about and times in my calendar to make sure I get it right. I was told the latest drop off they had on a Saturday was 9:30 am. That worked perfectly with the other things I had going on that day so I took the appointment. When I arrived at 9:20 with my daughter and the dog, the woman scolded me for coming late and said the appointment was for 9am. I had another obligation before and after this appointment and new for a fact she told me 9:30. With an attitude and nasty tone to her voice she said, "No, you were told to be here at 9:30. I again said, " The woman on the phone told me the latest appointment was at 9:30 and I took it." She then said, "I am the only one who answers the phone and I told you 9:00 am." I proceeded to walk out deciding not to give them my business. As a new customer I have never been treated more rudely and with total disrespect in front of my daughter! I will never use them and recommend no one else does either!!!! I felt bad in the beginning thinking maybe it was just a miscommunication, but when she continually talked down to me and treating me so rudely in front of my daughter, I no longer felt bad!!! read more

Been going here for years with multiple dogs and they couldn't be any better. Dogs are never scared going in and prices are fair.
