What a great place to rent surfboards!!! I was on the island for a couple days and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to fly my boards over. So I found this awesome place on Yelp and everything about this place and the whole experience was great!! I landed and immediately drove to this shop to get a board. Parked temporary in the underground garage and the parking attendant was nice enough to not charge me. There are no street parking in the area. The shop had a huge selection of boards to choose from, some really nice high end boards like FireWire and Al Merricks. I got a very nice thick 6'0 because I was being lazy and didn't want to paddle very hard. That board was great. The nice guy working that day gave me a ton of information on all the surf spots that we're going off that day and subsequent days. Super helpful. I had the board for 2 days and it performed very well. I surfed several spots around the south side of the island and had a ton of fun! Easy no frills, great service! read more

Such an awesome surf shop. We're staying on Oahu for a little while, and this place has made it so easy for us to rent a board whenever we need it. Their pricing is competitive compared to others in the area ($20 a day!), you can take your pick of any of the boards they have available (fantastic mix of short and longboards, and they're in fantastic shape as well), and the dudes that work here are so friendly, chill, and helpful when it comes to choosing an appropriate board for your skill level or the surf conditions. You can tell there's a lot of pride and care that goes into this shop, and it certainly does not go unnoticed. It's been super convenient for us during our stay as our condo is just a short walk away, and the closest break (Rockpiles) is not even a 10 minute walk out the door. Perfect for when you see those waves charging from your lanai and want to get out asap! Another added plus: they're open 'til 8 (much later than other spots that close around 5-6), so you can surf well into the sunset and come back happy, tired, and hungry. This little shop is walking distance to the beach, so even if you can't fit the board in your car, you can still hit the waves. I think it was just a series of misunderstandings, but the response was pretty lackluster, and I still wasted money overall. The shop posted a board on Craigslist for sale. I called the shop to check on the condition of the board, and after confirming that it was in good condition, I asked them, "I live in Mililani. I'm willing to drive in, but I want to check if you guys can hold the board for me if I'm going to make the drive." The employee confirmed that they could hold the board and they took down my number as well to call me back to let me know what the total would be. They called back and gave me the price of the board with tax and everything and again confirmed that they'd put the board on hold. I jumped in my car and drove over right away. When I arrived, I asked and they said they had just sold it. The employee said that they asked the guy they sold it to, "Oh, you drove in from Mililani, right?" He replied yes, and that was sufficient for them. I was pretty mad, so I told them that I wanted to talk to the boss, because I was going to ask for gas money. The employee said that he could just Venmo me, but it seemed like he was just going to send it personally, and it may have been his fault, but he's just an employee of the shop. Told him I wanted to speak with the boss about it and left my number. He said he'd have his boss call me the next morning. This morning, I hadn't received any call, so I called the shop. I spoke to the same guy as yesterday and he said that his boss told him that it's just an unfortunate series of events and to just convey that to me. The employee said he was planning on calling me but just hadn't gotten to it yet. I asked him about the gas money, and he said that they can't really just give out gas money. Told him it was fine and I'd just leave a review. Got a call about 15 minutes later that I missed, but the employee left a message saying that he can't really just give gas money out to people, but "if it's really necessary" he could give me 10 dollars cash or he could offer me one of their shop t-shirts. So essentially, my options are to drive back to town and use another 12 dollars in gas to get the money that I wasted yesterday, or have them mail me a shirt with their logo so I can advertise for them. No thanks. I didn't even need the gas money per se, but it would've been nice to have a slightly more formal response or apology from the business. My other experiences with their shop were fine, but this was a pretty poor experience generally. Don't think I'll be going here again. Edit: when I asked for the owner's name, the worker said it was Anthony or Austin or something that clearly started with an "a". When I called the next day and asked for Anthony, he said that I had the wrong number. I see on here that the owner's name is Jason so seems like the employee probably didn't even talk to the owner at all? Anyway... that just makes it even worse. read more

I've been paying a bit more for surf gear such as fins at other places but these guys keep it real and don't jack up the prices. Joey was so kind, patient and knowledgeable! My fin popped out a few days ago bc I took my board out at low tide. I wasn't really sure which fin type I had before I lost it, so I figured I'd just buy one that looked similar and hope that it fit. I liked that quality Surfboards Hawaii had an online/curbside pickup option, that I could pay and my fin would be ready in under an hour! The parking garage was really easy to find when I got there, and they validate for 30 mins, making it super convenient. All went well with my pickup, but when I got home the fin didn't fit my board. I was kinda bummed bc I had wanted to surf today. I ended up emailing to see if they would be able to refund my fin, since it was my fault it didn't fit my board. They got back to me right away saying they'd be happy to! I took the fin back to return and explained it didn't fit and Joey and Christian were suuuuper helpful!! :') I didn't have a picture to show them but from what I described, they showed me a different tri fin set I could buy. It was over $100 and I only needed the center fin (not the left and right) so I wanted to keep looking elsewhere, and see if I could just buy one. I thought I would have to go search at other surf stores to find what I needed, but they actually hooked me up w a fin replacement spare they had in the back! I was super grateful and they told me if this one doesn't fit, to bring my board in and they'd definitely be able to take a look and help me find exactly what I needed. We wanted to fit in and not be noticed with rentals. We both surf a lot at home and are goofy footed so this was definitely been on my bucket list. Very cheap and efficient. I am really glad that my wife found this place. We rented a pair of snorkeling equipment for 8 dollars each which was very cheap compared to what you would have to Shell if you borrowed it near the hotels or at hanuma Bay. The equipment was very high quality. At least for super beginners like us it worked wonderfully for us. The lady who helped us figure it out was extremely helpful. You really can't beat the $30/day SUP rental!! Yes, lugging the boards to the water and back, even with the wheels, is a pain in the ass...but it is totally worth it! They open at 8AM and close at 8PM, so you can get a solid 12 hours in! We arrived earlier in the morning right after breakfast (we ate around the corner at Aloha Kitchen) and filled out paperwork/left my credit card number as deposit. We needed to go back to our room to change into our bathing suits and that made the process easier because I didn't have to bring my credit card back with me to the shop. The lady in the shop that day was so sweet and so friendly! She was happy to answer any questions we had and showed us on a satellite map exactly where would be best to paddle and why. She even offered my mom a few tips on how to paddle...even though mom ended up chickening out.. I would highly recommend renting your boards here! A solid five stars for the service and the overall experience. :) read more

The kid has been surfing for a few years and we've had a chance to rent boards from different shops. This one is by far my favorite. Great staff, good pricing, board exchanges and more. The kid picked up a board on Wednesday and returned it that night because he wasn't surfing on Thursday. These guys left the account open so that he can pick up another board on Friday without the hassle of a new rental. Great service. Will come back again next time we're in Ohau. read more

We rented two boards for a few days while on vacation in Waikiki. Plenty of boards to choose from. The boards were $20 per day / $100 per week, and you can swap out for a different board as many times as you want. The rental came with a leash, bar of wax, and roof straps for your car (just bring a couple of towels to pad your roof). The guys here were super nice, gave advice on what boards to choose based on the conditions, and will let you know which spots to check out. As a plus, they gave us free Hawaiian Suns when we returned the boards. Would highly recommend renting from here for anyone staying in the area. We will be back to rent from them the next time we're in Oahu! read more

We found this gem of a shop on day 3 of our vacation. The staff was helpful and friendly. My husband rented a skim board for $8 the first day and $5 each day after! What a great deal! On the last day of our vaca we discovered that they rent Tommy Bahama beach chairs complete with Tommy Bahama umbrellas for $8 a day also! We grabed 2 and headed down to enjoy the sand and surf for the last day on the beach. Others in our party also rented a surf board, they have a yelp check in deal for $5 off right now making them only $15 a day. They provided us with a wheeled cart to carry our board down to the beach with. Love this shop! Cons Shop is tiny, there is no on street parking so if you have a vehicle you have to park in the garage downstairs. read more

Learned about this place here in Yelp. They were really helpful with the rental of out paddle board. The price is way better then renting at the lagoon, just need to transport it to the beach yourself. They even show you a map of where to use the paddle board. Since we were new to the sport we kept it on the lagoon and had a great time. Easy return when we were done in the afternoon. read more

Got the local kama'aina rate of $15 for a super thick, but light performance 9'0" that rode like a Ferrari! Super easy to stroke into the waves and the thruster hugged the sections providing stability for some amazing turns. Staff at the shop were great. Friendly, helpful and genuinely felt they cared that I have a good experience out there in the water. Will definitely be back as I plan to try a few more of their boards before I upgrade! read more

Really good shop in Honolulu. They have a pretty wide rental quiver with good condition boards. They have everything for small south shore or heavy north shore. I rented an egg shake and a log for the south shore and shortboard for the north shore, everything was super fun. They're prices are pretty good for rentals too $20 a day and you can switch out whenever you want. The guys running the shop are also super friendly and we're really helpful. Definitely beats shipping a board over because it's cheaper than airlines will charge you and you can ride multiple different boards. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Oahu. I highly recommend Quality Surfboards Hawaii! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Their prices were better than any other surfboard rental places I found in the area and they indeed did have "quality surfboards". I was traveling from LA to Oahu and didn't want to go through the hassle of flying my own longboard surfboard over with me, and I was worried that I was going to have to settle with a very beginner style surfboard for my trip, but a local friend of mine from Oahu recommended Quality Surfboards Hawaii, and I see why he did. I was able to rent an awesome longboard by a local shaper, honestly was kind sad I was able to take that board back home with me to Malibu! Rented an 8ft epoxy surfboard. I wish i had a bit more size (small day) but the resort lacked vaulted elevators so had to work within limits. 8 ft fits in most elevators.
