About as nice of a golf experience as can be had. I played the Palmer side yesterday and enjoyed…read moreeverything about it. The course is beautifully and immaculately maintained. It's also pretty-challenging--but I played well and did a little fist pumping on more than a few holes as long putts ran true, a sand save was had, and 5 of the holes are now, "my beyaches" (meaning, I got a par on them). And, of course, TURTLE BAY is located in an exceptionally beautiful spot between the Ko'olau mountain range and the sea, Everyone on the staff that I interacted with-- from the customer service guys who first greet you and set up your clubs, to the refreshment cart girl, to the pro shop crew, to the maintenance guys working on the course-- even the staff in the adjoining restaurant (Lei Lei's) were exceptional in all ways. Everyone, during my visit, was super-welcoming, informative, professional, and exuded a genuinely warm and caring energy. I take my dad's old set of clubs out about once a year (he passed a few years ago), as this allows him and I to "metaphorically" play a round of 18 with each other again. I thought it appropriate to go somewhere kinda special for the occasion, and since Turtle Bay was on my "golf bucket-list" of places that hoped to try before hanging up my putter for good, this is where I headed. It goes without saying that am glad that I went. I don't want to brag, but..."Together", my dad and I may have set the course record... but then I had to play the back nine. (sorry, I had to slip in that dad joke). Even at the Kama'ina rate, It was a bit of a splurge (I am a public golf course/deal-finder kind of a guy), but every now and again, I feel that there is value in treating oneself to something nice. This was one such moment and it will be cherished and remembered fondly.

We came here on a Wednesday afternoon and were greeted promptly! We were only a party of two, and…read morethey even let us feed the goats during our ride. We got to see the beautiful waters, and our tour guide explained the different sea creatures that live there. Goggles and helmets were provided, and they made sure everything fit us properly. It was my first time riding an ATV, and I was nervous, but the tour guide reassured me and made me feel comfortable. We shared that we hadn't seen turtles and he made the big effort of searching for one of the biggest ones that usually come to the shore! I had a great experience and would definitely come back again!

This was a good experience. I came here with my boyfriend for his birthday and we did have fun, but…read morethe whole experience also felt kind of awkward. The ATV ride itself was enjoyable. We drove around different trails, got to see nice views and some animals along the way, which was cool. We came about a month after the storms, so the scenery wasn't at its absolute best, but that's totally understandable and not a complaint at all. It is pretty expensive though, around $130 per person, and feeding the animals was an extra $10 for small pellets to feed the cows and goats. The views and experience were still nice, but for the price, we expected the overall service to feel a little more polished. The main thing that stood out was the guides. We had two guides and they were both really quiet and awkward. They didn't really explain much or try to interact with us, which made the vibe feel uncomfortable at times. My boyfriend and I even tried making conversation, but they just weren't very chatty. It honestly felt kind of tense the whole ride. At the end, things got even more awkward because one of the guides basically disappeared without saying goodbye or telling us what to do next. We were just standing there confused with our gear, not knowing where to put anything or whether we were supposed to check out somewhere. The other guide mentioned they had just started working there and wasn't sure what the next steps were either, which is understandable, but it still felt a little unprofessional considering how much the experience cost. Also, when booking, there was a section asking if we were celebrating anything, and I mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday. We weren't expecting anything free or over-the-top, but it would've been nice if someone had at least acknowledged it since they specifically asked during booking. Overall, the ATV ride and scenery were fun, but the customer service and overall organization definitely could've been better for the price point.

No. Is it the longest? Also no. BUT... it's always in great shape, greens roll true despite their small, undulating size. And holes 13-17 are among my favorite in the U.S.! It can be as challenging or as easy as you make it - wind gusts off the coast can be 30-40mph which adds a difficulty not found at most courses. The staff are uber friendly, the brand new carts are a great positive and the course layout next to USMC flight path is a unique experience you cannot get anywhere else (except for maybe USN-Coronado haha). As I compared sunrise photos captured from another beach yesterday, the images are uniquely different. There is however, one consistent aspect to sunrises....light breaks through darkness. When the sun rises, there's comfort in knowing we get to start fresh everyday. There's relief in knowing we can leave our past burdens behind. There's also a level of excitement to see how the day goes. At this particular beach, from the parking area, you are literally just a few steps away from the shoreline. The sand here isn't as prestine though. There were a few more people enjoying a morning walk at this location compared to North Beach.
