I have a broken ankle and needed to replace the brake handle on the knee scooter. We went in to see if they could help- immediately they told us they only work on their own bikes. Cool. But can I buy a handbrake? The guy basically went on about it being a complicated procedure, and needing to strip the wire and replace the grips. Yeah. We left. So UNHELPFUL. I want to buy a new bike for Christmas. Called bike factory to see if they had my bike I wanted in stock they said no so I went in shop to see if they did. Upon arriving, they were incorrect about their stock and the bike was sitting on the floor. They wouldn't allow me to connect to their Wi-Fi to get approved for their credit. So I had to go back home apply and then I came back in. After getting approved and coming back to the store for a second time, they told me the bike that I wanted was not allowed to purchase with that provider after I confirmed it over the phone. This bike shop should NOT be a Super73 authorized dealer.. They should not be in the repair business at all, after many times dealing with them. If you want to deal with a stoned kid that wears a t-shirt that says wheelies aren't a crime (or something to that affect) and shrug his shoulders and say well that's just a bike thing, after 4 trips to fix a problem that wasn't even a problem until I took my bike in for new tires. When I got it back the peddle assist is activated just by rolling the bike forward an inch. Extremely dangerous! I have over 2000 miles on my bikes, my bike is my only transportation, so I didn't come up with this evaluation of Bike Factory quickly, it's come from years of disappointment. My first review of them and consistently getting horrible service. The last time, they told me I needed to replace the rear hub motor, a $500 part that was out of stock. I bought another Super73 because I need transportation, but when it did come back in stock and I ordered it, it was not the problem. It's actually a damaged wire from the rear hub motor that goes to the battery. I paid for that diagnosis. And it's not the first diagnoses I paid for that was completely wrong. Problem is, is if you purchase a Super73 you can't get it fixed anywhere, including the only authorized dealer who can't even get parts in Hawaii. read more

I recently went to bike factory to look for a new rim for my road bike. I find out that they are not selling too many road bikes and tri bikes any more, they carry more BMX and e-bike. I was looking for a bike rim for my road bike and I think the selection is limited for my price range, so they do not have a rim for my bike. They do sell skate boards. Overall their staffs are friendly. It is always good to have another Bike Shop in my area so I have another option to go to. read more

I paid $4100.00 for a Trek pedal assist mountain bike. When I purchased the bike it had no pedals. I asked the guy if it was for sure big enough as I'm 6'4". After putting the pedals on I realized very quickly that this bike was way too small. Come to find out this actually the small version. I feel like my knees are touching my ears when I'm riding. Also I went back in to have some air put in the tires. I just got the run around. I ended up leaving and having a different bike shop air the tires up for me. Unless you're one of their buddies riding around on one of the illegal bikes around town you're not gonna get any service. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I simply googled a bike I was looking for, BikeFactory had it on sale, but I wanted to verify availability before purchasing from reading previous reviews. Wow! Once I emailed they said yes, yet it was gone from the website? So I called, I don't wish to name who I spoke with for him, but he looked it up in the system. Verified there were 3 at the sale price in the system, but unsure why not on the website, so he literally put me on hold and went to put his physical eyeballs on the bikes in boxes. Now whoever emailed me after was extremely unprofessional, and I'll just leave it at that. First the bike got put up saying "No discount" then a day later none are on the site haha i simply asked if I could purchase at the price I first emailed, the sale price, or I'll simply buy it for msrp in the states. This review is SO OVERDUE. These days, it's so hard to really experience excellent customer service. Every time me and husby go to Bike Factory in Kaka'ako, we have the BEST experience. The humans that work here are SUPERB. Not only are they knowledgable, but you can tell they actually love their jobs. They love being there, they love helping people get their butts on bikes, they love helping tune up their gear, they love assisting with picking out anything with wheels, etc etc and more. You get the picture... It's because of this that WE ALSO GO BROKE. But it's okay. I put a lot of trust in them, and they do the same for us. If you're looking for knowledgable staff that AREN'T just trying to make a quick buck off of you... this is the place to go. It's been beyond frustrating to deal with the Bikefactory Hawaii. I've been trying to purchase a Trek bike from them, but they failed to answer my emails at all. When I was visiting the stores in person the staff didn't have any knowledge about the bike. When I finally reached a verbal purchase agreement, they ended up not honoring the agreed price. At the end I ended up ordering directly through Trek (but the bike unfortunately still has to get assembled by the Bikefactory). And guess what? The bike arrived 12 days ago, and I haven't heard anything from Bikefactory, no updates at all even though it says the bike would be ready in 3-5 days. When calling them today, they just say they don't know. Read through some of the other recent reviews to get the full picture of the level of customer service that you can expect here. It's unfortunate because I'm a big fan of Trek bikes and their customer service. Still waiting for my bike that I already paid for. read more

I have dealt with this shop over the years for mostly bicycle related things. Sometimes the service provided was specifically for me (parts and tune Other times, it was for my coworkers who trusted me due to having been a triathlete and endurance cyclist for almost 4 decades. Today, however, I purchased a Tony Hawk reissue skateboard. The level of satisfaction was precisely the same. I highly recommend this shop based on those who are employed here. Seriously, guys? My Trek Dual Sport 2 that I purchased from the Bike Factory had a flat rear tire. I took a taxi that agreed to schlep the bike to Bike Factory for a new tire. The disinterested kid at the front desk tells me I need to schedule a repair appointment before I bring the bike in. I asked if he might be able to make an exception in this case, since I just unlocked the bike room in my condo, unlocked the bike, carried it up a lot of stairs and taxi'd to the Bike Factory. Nope. I walked next door to Boca Hawaii Bicycle Shop, where I have never purchased anything, and they got right on it, said I'll be ready to go in a day or two. Now THAT is outstanding customer service, and I very highly recommend Boca Hawaii. Apparently, the Bike Factory either could not or would not make an exception to take a walk in flat tire repair for one of their customers? If you're in the bicycle business and cannot accommodate a walk in flat tire repair, you're in the wrong business. Way to go Bike Factory. From a not impressed former customer. read more

I've been burned twice at this store by misleading information and/or lack of customer service...and when there's another bike shop...literally 100 feet away... STRIKE ONE...was buying a bike stand that I was told would stand my bike upright in place, thus taking up less room in my condo. Guess what...it's just a bike rack. No upright functionality. $45 purchase for nothing. I was able to find what I wanted on Amazon, but I really wanted to support a local shop. STRIKE TWO...I needed a replacement bike lock. I showed the guy the attachment mount on my bike, he showed me the locks. I purchased the one that I thought would fit. It didn't. As I was purchasing it, I told him I wanted to put on right there. That elicited a shrug in response. I was clearly struggling with how to mount the lock...asked several questions...was given no real answers or any offer assistance in any way shape or form. So...I left with my brand new $70 bike lock and went back home to figure it out on my own. In fairness..I have a new lock. I'll be able to mount it to the bike, but in a world where "in-person" retail is under constant threat from online shopping customer service is the only differentiator. If it's easier and cheaper for me to buy it online...I will...no matter how much I want to support the local business. STRIKE THREE....there won't be a strike three...I won't be back. read more

Since my wife and i was around this area i went to this location to buy a handle bar for my bike. The associate checked on the computer if they had any in stock. He had some but was i guess still in boxes up stairs and told me the Waipio location had some. I told him im actually from that side. But since we were on this side i figured i stop by. First time visiting Bike Factory and it was a very good experience. Walked in and everyone said hello and was very friendly. Lots of customers and employees explaining the different bikes they have and I saw a few people testing driving some of the latest bikes. I needed a new tire and Sean asked to help me. He said they had the tube in stock and would find me one. First couple of places he looked, no tube. He dove deeper into the inventory and it took some time but Sean came back with what I needed. The air value was a bit different so Sean explained the adapter and was easy to understand. Success trip to Bikefactory. I went in the store to purchase the tube and change it myself and the store was completely empty and the Caucasian kid at the register sounded like he just woke up and was moving in slow motion. Just ordered and picked up a SUPER73 s2 Electric bicycle. I saw one about two years ago at Diamondhead look out , and ever since then I've been kind of wanting one. Finally pulled the trigger and ordered one through The Bike Factory. They're one of the few dealers that have them in stock at the moment. I'm a big guy so I was kind of hesitant because I did not know if the bicycle would be able to handle my weight but sure enough it can pull me up almost any hill. The nice thing about the Bikefactory is they will put your bike together for you and also register it. So you really don't have to do anything but pick it up and enjoy it. They do this for all the bicycles that they sell. It's very convenient. I picked mines up in the town location but there is another location out in Kapolei. The staff that works there knows that equipment and a very knowledgeable and will help you make the best decisions for you. If you're looking for a bicycle or skateboard or even an electric motorcycle this place might be a good fit for you I would recommend you at least giving them a try. read more

The prices on the bicycles were very comparable to the mainland prices. It was a Saturday and they were very busy with a constant flow of customers. This my review for the Honolulu Bike Factory location and I must say it agrees with the Waipio version, 5-star service indeed! The staff here is always mindful of customers. The few times I've been here, I've always had staff take care of me. Whether it was buying parts or even installing parts they never disappoint! I'd say the only downside to this location is their parking. They have about 5-6 spots under the canopy. If you can't park in there, street parking is available, although you may have to pay and walk a little. If you're looking for great customer service in a bike shop, this is the place to go. Hate..That I want to buy so much stuff from here and it's going to make me broke! :( Jace, JD, Dennis were really helpful when I purchased my Trek 8.3 Dual Sport bike awhile back. Along with the purchase I picked up some pinhead locks, changed grips and added so much more items. It would be so wonderful if people didn't steal bikes, things you have to purchase just to make it harder to steal. Not only do they do sell and do maintenance/repairs on bikes, but stock so much more things that somethimes are not displayed. They also stock a large amount of Hydroflask in different sizes and the accessories attachments. If you're looking for Bike or Skateboard related items this is the place to checkout. When I called , I needed to order the tire, and it did take about a day for them to find it, bit no worries as most bike shops have limited supply at this time due to demand. Hubby bought a used bike on FB Marketplace and wanted to have it checked out and tuned-up a bit before riding, so we came here and we're very pleased that we did. Although quite busy when we went in, the service was excellent. In addition to sending in his bike to be looked at, my husband inquired about how to transfer the registration to his name. The guy who was helping us (sorry, forgot his name as this was a few weeks ago when we visited), was able to answer his questions and even provided my husband with the form to do so. To our delight, hubby's bike was fixed up and ready for pick-up within two days. So, that was a really quick turnaround, which was great because my husband was excited to get back to riding with me again. My dad and boyfriend were looking for some Carver Skateboards to practice their surfing moves on, but unfortunately this specific type of skateboard is really popular right now and hard to come by. We couldn't find them available to purchase anywhere else in store or online so we were losing hope until we gave Bikefactory a call and they said that they had some in stock. We hopped in our car and drove down to the shop to check out the options they had. Luckily they had a good selection and even allowed us to test ride the two different styles of this skateboard (C7 and CX) outside in their parking lot area. The worker, Reese, who took care of us the whole time was very patient and nicely answered all of our questions. When we finally decided which ones to get, he checked us out and even gave all of us (including myself who didn't buy anything from the shop) free T-shirts, just as a thank you. I think this was the first time all of us checked out the Bikefactory but the experience and customer service was amazing, thank you Reese for helping us out! Ps: parking is in the backside of the store, sharing the same parking entrance as the Porsche shop.
