I found Quality Watch Repair on line after a disastrous repair job from another service. I have a Seiko Automatic Chronograph from the early 70s that needed a refresh. By the time I found QWR, one of the hands was unattached, the watch was only working intermittently and you couldn't read the date for the first few days of the month. While the other service had a warranty, it had already been taken back twice, for a total of three attempts. The original problem had become much larger. Stephen identified the problems, found a new (or better quality used) date band and repaired the watch in the time frame he committed and for the amount quoted. When I had a different problem arise a few months later that was unrelated, he found a repair part and charged me only for the part and postage. I would not use any other watch repair service. I have an Omega Constellation and needed the battery replaced. Typically I'd take it to a jewelry shop or Omega certified shop and they'd charge me $40-$50 for about 5 min of work. (i haven't met a jeweler that i've ever liked......no offense uncle Vito) I found QWR via google and they did an outstanding job. Replaced my battery in 5 min, buffed and cleaned it, were very responsive via email and were generally just nice and straightforward to deal with. Stephen is just the best there is for watch and clock repair and maintenance. I have used no one else for the past ten years. He has done extensive work on my older Rolex, and regular work on my Cartier tank, including battery changes and polishing. He just replaced the inner workings on a Tiffany clock, which has had problems since I purchased it at the Tiffany store. I brought it back to Tiffany for repairs, but it still ran slow. But I believe I found a watch repair professional that I can trust. After doing extensive research, I decided to send my watch to Steve Thomas at Quality Watch Repair in Oregon (I'm in Southern Cal). My Tag-Heuer was in need of a new crystal and the seconds hand needed to be repair. Through out the process, Steve communicated with me on a regular basis: how much the parts would cost, would I like to authorize the repairs based on his diagnosis, when it will be done and how he would send the watch back. A home based business run by a man who formerly worked for others, now does it on his own. A friendly place, personalized quality service with no BS. If he can fix it he will, at a reasonable cost and with quick turnover. If he can't he will tell you so. Also great for battery changes for difficult to change watches. He changed batteries for two of my diving watches and replaced the capacitor on my Seiko Kinetic ( I thought that watch was dead, actually) and did it for less than the battery change on one watch the last time I did it through a jewelry store/dealer. My husband's Seiko Kinetic Watch (model 4M21-OB40) stopped running and he took it to a local dealer in Los Angeles for repair. They collected $150 to send the watch to the manufacturer. After several weeks, the watch and his payment were returned and he was told that the required part was no longer available and the watch could not be repaired.
