I dropped it off on a Wednesday, they said it should be done the next day but give it to Friday. I said no problem.....2 days is better then what I was expecting. Friday comes around, no call. I call them Fri to see hear an update, they said let me check, the lady that fixes watches took it home to fix. Cool, no problem.....no call back. Call on Monday, they said oh let me check w her, no call back. I call again on Tues...they sounded like oh this guy again. I said please give me an update....one of the lady's said I'll call you back when I know in a tone like I'm bugging her....no call back again! I called the next day and a guy answered and I told him I just want my watch back, I'll get it fixed somewhere else. He said "fine, I'll call you" He calls the next day saying it's in. I go to the shop and say "I'm here to pickup my watch" The guy said "your name?" I told him my name and 1 of the lady's that sits at her desk w her back turned says "oh him!" Hahaha So professional. He says "we fixed the battery but don't know how to set the time/date" I said "I can do it" I get home and the buttons on the side to adjust time and date are BROKEN. Jammed in where you can't hold down. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL! Plus, it's super dusty in there, a cat lerks around and the females that work there just complain back and forth to eachother about their lives when customers can hear. Super awkward!! We dropped off two Faux-lex watches a couple months ago for repairs. We never got a call that they were ready, even after we went in to check on them after a few weeks. The person who looked for them the first time was rude and not helpful. Then when we went back a few weeks after that, they were ready. Oh gees!!! They have had an expensive watch of mine for over a year. Say they just cant find it, dont return calls!!! They said they fixed it - but i ONLY asked for an estimate! Ive called, Ive sent certified letter. Ive been in four times and each time they dont have it AND dont ever call me. No email for them or website. I am so so so sad - this watch was my uncles and worth $1500 up, 18 k gold!! Vintage and I even had a buyer ready to purchase. $200 estimate. They continue to ignore me. WHAT TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. It doesnt exist with them. I must now take legal action against them to get my property back. I think they sold it and kept the $$$. Awful business. Reading the reviews we were hesitant about taking our clock in. Well, we didn't need to worry. While waiting our turn, there were two ahead of us, I observed how efficient the gal behind the counter was. She single handedly took care of customers very efficiently. When we first went in she was up front about not being sure she could help us as the company had gone out of business and she couldn't get parts. That said, it turned out to be a simple fix and she took care of it while we waited. I definitely would recommend this business. read more

I have an old watch that was my mother's, and I had spent a lot of money and time to get it repaired by someone else, only to break again. They said the best way to fix it would be to move it from a manual to battery watch, so I did that, but I had to replace the battery constantly, and one time I broke it while replacing the battery. The Clock Gallery said they could put in a new movement, battery operated, but also said they had a lot of manual movements similar to this and could swap out one of those. We did that, and it's amazing. The new movement is so much cleaner and in such better shape, and it WORKS. It's been a few months now, and everything is still going fabulously. My husband's father rescued two schoolhouse wall clocks (made circa 1920's) from the trash at San Francisco State in the early 1950's. These are both Seth Thomas clocks. My husband's sister has one and we have the other. We had moved from SE Hawthorne area to Far Southwest. When we hung our Seth Thomas clock, wound it and started it, well, the clock didn't want to run. So we took it to the Clock Gallery. Tom was magnificent as was Tru. We also decided to ask Tom to strip the paint, stain the wood and varnish it. I went yesterday to pick it up and it is stunning! And it keeps great time now too! I took a G Shock stainless watch to them because the band kept coming off. I just thought it just needed a new pin, but she tried many pins with no success. She said the hole where the pin goes is worn out. She said leave it here and I'll try and find a new band for it. I've had it for fifteen years and it has a lot of sentimental value. It's the best watch I've ever had but you almost need a masters degree in engineering to figure out the instructions. They called me after a week or so and said the watched was fixed. I went over and picked it up and the watchmaker said there was no charge on it. They replaced my band a few years ago so I knew they did good work, and it was extremely difficult to find. I highly recommend this place, and their shop contains many interesting clock works. Its worth going in there and just look around even if you don't have clock or watch issues., they do great work. read more

I was referred by a very high end jewelry store in Downtown Portland, so I had high hopes, as the watch I was taking in to repair was very expensive. When I saw the reviews I was apprehensive. This is not my watch and I would be left holding the bag having to explain a bad experience. BOY WAS I SURPRISED! The lovely lady behind the counter with very evident YEARS of experience, was not only able to help me fix the issue right then and there, she did it so quickly she didn't even charge me! I bought a brand new watch there for my husband - I happened to get a watch battery and liked an all black Seiko watch. As I am a small business owner myself I like to support local businesses and instead of buying a watch at Nordstrom I bought it from the Clock Gallery. Didn't even last ONE month- all the hands came off (!?) and it stopped working all together. I returned the watch in January- it is now the end of May - I have called, i have stopped by - NO ANSWERS. I've had the most horrible experience at this clock shop that I need to report it here. I bought the clock from them probably 8 to 10 years ago and I've had a tuneup there at least once. This time I brought it in on August 27 and by November 23 it's still had not been fixed. They claim that somebody took the screws out and nobody but this company ever worked on it, rarely called me to check in to see what the status was and she was unsympathetic or caring customer service. They took no responsibility in any of their actions. Now I have a clock does not work. I would not recommend this place whatsoever. I don't know how she stays in business unless she got a huge Covid loan. Because it's a really lousy business. Brian did a great job of fixing up my old Grandfather Clock. They do House calls. As long as you go in with the expectation that it may take a while to get your clock back, I think you'll be happy with their service. It took about 3.5 months to get my clock back when they took it, which considering the amount of work they had to put into it to get it running with the original pieces, I think was a reasonable amount of time. I love having the sound of my clock chiming again and I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking to get their Grandfather Clocks repaired. read more

Original stars: 4. Took an old Seth Thomas mantle clock to the Clock Gallery for diagnosis and repair. It was gone about 2 weeks and came back, working good as new. Sadly, whatever was ailing my little fella seems to have struck again and back in the shop it goes. Luckily, a 1 year warranty is offered on repair services. . Had my clock not stopped running, I would have given this shop 5 stars. They might argue that the clock is to blame, but I still have to deal with a cross town trek and more work to be done. Revised to one star: It's taken me a loooong time to write the PS on this experience. After I took my clock back in, I waited and waited for it - like, a couple months. When I got it back, the original, antique domed glass door with the associated, patina finish on the metal edge, had been replaced by a new, cheap, flimsy door with a gold anodized aluminum frame. What the hell just happened here?!?!? No phone call, no explanation, nothing. I took it back and the person behind the counter was not in possession of a reason for this, other than "it was probably broken so we replaced it". I was gobsmacked. I was told that an authentic replacement could not be found and I actually had to go online myself and point them to an original door that was listed for sale. I think they were up to something. Both times I was very pleased with her abilities to make repairs to my 8 day clock from a ww2 P51D Mustang aircraft that I use in my 1941 Luscombe. I took my chiming mantel clock to them at the end of June for a complete overhaul (Trip 1). They said it would take approx. 4 weeks. After 1 1/2 months, I called to inquire when it was going to be ready. They said it was ready, but no one contacted me (Trip2). Then I had to take it back because it was running Slow (Trip 3). After another month, I had to call again...it was ready. No one called me (Trip 4). Again, I called the shop because the clock was running Fast. (These trips took me 1 hr. roundtrip each time.) So, I requested that someone come to my house to pick up the clock, which they did. When it was ready, (1 month later) they brought it to my house. Now, a week later, it's running Slow...AGAIN! I'm done with this company!! In 4 months, I only had my clock for about 3 weeks. Don't waste your time...their Customer Service is terrible!!!! read more

The Clock Gallery is a cool little shop in Downtown Lake Oswego that sells and services various mounted and stand alone time pieces. The designs are mostly old school, with lots of dark woods, pendulums that swing to and fro, and little birds that pop out to say Hello. They've had my clock since February, it's now October, I'd called several times during that period to check on the status of the repair, never got a clear answer on when I would get it back. I called today to check on it again, once the gal found my clock she said "it's done, it's hanging here on the wall". I took my clock in for a simple repair (rehang pendulum, needed that part). It was only suppose to take 2 weeks, but the time before when they did a tune up it took longer than they said. After 4 months, I started to call, asking about my clock. I did not receive call backs. After 7 months with repeated calls and no return calls, they finally told me they had lost my clock but were looking for it. After over a year, they told me they had a clock that I could "borrow" until they found my clock after I emailed them. I had emailed them earlier with a picture of my clock. After several more emails with no replies and now a couple years later, they are telling me they didn't locate it and paid well for my replacement clock. What happen to my clock that had been my grandparents clock? It was priceless to me because I grew up listening to it. I thought I was just borrowing their clock. Took our family heirloom regulator clock in to find out why the 30 day wind time had slowed down by half. I was told that it probably needed a good cleaning and some new parts. Weeks later and a wilting $250 charge we hung it up and...you guessed it. After about a year, same old problem. So now we heaved taken it to the O'Clock shop in Vancouver where we have had good luck in the past. Just got the quote for $180 to clean and replace some parts. I explained what had happened at the Oswego Clock Gallery and was told that there is A LOT of greasy gunk in all the parts. I asked how long it takes to build up that kind of greasy mess and was told probably 10 to 15 YEARS - not the mere two years since the last $250 "repair". My advice...stay away from the Clock Gallery. They do better at cleaning your wallet than fixing your clock! read more

Been on the fence between new watch bands for a while now and decided to pop in and see if they had anything to offer. Not only did they switch out multiple watch bands to let me try them on they also helped me replace the battery. After checking out and heading home I had a slight miss function with the band I just purchased and called into to ask if they could help me fix it. They invited me back the same day and fully replaced the band to avoid the complication coming up in the future and added extra holes to adjust the fitting as well for no extra cost. The young woman who helped me was friendly, positive, and helpful. Looking forward to going back, whatever benefits is found from trying to shop online cannot be replaced by the customer service and relationships that small business can offer. read more

I am not sure where to start. I am frustrated with their clock smith. On 6/27/2020 I brought the clock in for a normal service ($400.00). It took close to three months to get this clock back. On 10/17/2020 I brought the clock back because the mainspring broke. I felt this was a little suspicious that just after the service, the mainspring breaks. I got the clock back two months later in December. On 1/8/2021 I brought the clock back because the chime hammers were misaligned with the chime rods. On 1/18/2021 I brought the clock back because the chime melody was out of sequence with the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and on the hour. On 2/2/2021 I picked the clock back up. This clock is an 8 day mantle clock, it now is a 6 day clock. Additionally when the clock strikes on the hour, all the times (2 through 12) are the correct number of strikes, except for one o'clock. It strikes twice instead of once. Logically this doesn't make any sense being a mechanical clock. One would think that all the hours would be incorrect. Now the current issue is having to wind the clock every 6 days along with the double strike at 1:00. I feel I am dealing with an incompetent clock smith. If these two issues are not resolved within a reasonable amount of time, I have no choice but to take the clock to one of their competitors in Beaverton, Oregon and give them their bill to pay. If they refuse to pay they give me no choice but to take them to small claims court and I doubt I would lose the case. I will also file a compliant with the Better Business Bureau. read more

At the edge of downtown Lake Oswego sits the Clock Gallery in an older building that looks like it was built in the 1930s. When I opened the door, it reminded me of Mr. Gold's shop in "Once Upon a Time". It is old and at the same time a place to provoke your curiosity. I had an excellent experience at Clock Gallery today so I want to make sure I spread the word about what a great business this is. I brought in a clock I bought at a local art fair that had stopped working. True greeted me and said she knew exactly how to fix it and would be happy to show me how. Within a few minutes she took the hands off the clock face, showed me how to adjust a tiny screw and reassembled it. When I asked her how much I owed her, she said she was happy to do it for free and even told me I could bring it in any time it needed adjusting! How's that for amazing customer service! read more

This pleasant appearing shop has the single rudest shop Owner in town (clerk is quite nice), consistently late on several attempts at repairs, repairs were inconsistent. Marvelous place to get all those repairs done on watches that no one else is willing or able to do any more. They put on a new strap that I had been looking years to find a replacement for. Plus they replace batteries. They know watches inside and out. Lots of interesting antique and new wall clocks, watches, miniature clocks, floor clocks and novelty clocks. Pocket watches and grandfather clocks. Has an "old fashioned" feel which is probably why it offers top notch "old fashioned" service so hard to find these days.
