FIRST ONE, took 3 weeks to get a quote (I could only imagine how long it would take to get the work done) and the price was shockingly high SECOND and THIRD contractors I reached out to never even returned the calls The FORTH and FIFTH contractors finally came through with quotes and both were fairly priced. I went with Family Shutters over the competitor number based on customer service and not the price (both were about the same cost). Once I received my quote I had questions; I spoke with Rene Mejia (I believe he is the operations manager) who made himself available to answers question or to clarify points I didn't understand. As a contractor myself, I had numerous questions regarding the installation and materials; Rene always took the time to be in contact with me (very helpful and convenient). Once agreed to the terms and ready to do the work, I gave my deposit (a fair, small percentage compared to many contractors out there that require ridiculous deposits). Work was scheduled and the installer showed as promised. Once the installation was completed (by Ray) I had a couple questions for Rene to verify the installation would pass my insurance inspection and he explained everything and even gave reassurance that if I had any issue or problem, then he would stand behind the product and have it taken care of. My mother has been calling him for OVER two months. And he has not returned her call or come to repair. The shade on the left has a problem with the motor (we think). It will no longer move up or down. It's stuck in the up position. My mothers receipt explicitly says a 10 year warranty on the blinds and motor. But STEVE and his company have gone completely MIA. She must have called 10-20 times, and nothing. Horrible!!!! He's supposed to stand behind his product. Instead he ignores his customers. Warning- don't buy from him!!!!!

If…read moreyou need any changes to your order and you call 3 days after it's too late to make any changes. They say 3 to 4 weeks to get your blinds. The real time is 3 months. Then before they come out to install your blinds that you have already paid half for up front, they demand the rest. This is called an advance fee scam or payment in advance fraud. They are obviously not aware of the mechanics lien. If a contractor performs work in a home and the owner refuses to pay. They simply places a mechanics lien on the property. Not asking for full payment before finishing the job. Only a foul or an innocent person would pay for this. I'm taking it up with the authorities so if you have placed an order or are about to place an order I suggest to have a second opinion elsewhere.
